I hear that they had cardamom buns so I went in for that. They were pistachio cardamom buns and looked good. The girl behind the counter offered to heat it up in the oven as well. It was bad. It tasted kind of stale, like two days old pastry kind of stale. The inside was actually cold--so maybe they get them in bulk frozen or keep them in the refrigerator? Either way, I would not try again because the flavors were too overpowering as well.

Ordered from here a few times via delivery apps. Today I got the MASALA CHAI which was pretty good & the SMOKED SALMON TOAST had a good amount of salmon, cream cheese (I sprung for the scallion one) & a whole avocado (sliced up not mashed) on a large slice of bread (appreciated that they cut it in half) so you get your money's worth (my lips are still burning from the chili flakes though lol). The iced HONEY-BEE LATTE however was terrible--very watery & the flavor was not good, even tasted kind of spoiled! I've ordered in the past and this place can be kind of inconsistent--for instance the first time I ordered the Chicken Tikka sandwich it was amazing but the 2nd time it was not good. I think I wasn't a big fan of the specialty donuts I've gotten from here either. So hard to say whether it will be hit or miss when I order! Overall though I would order from here again.

What an incredible find! This is my first time in Hidden Grounds. There are other locations. If only there was another location nearby me!! Just look at that menu! Now that's dedication to the craft of coffee! Taro latte - amazing and so pretty!! I had an hour to kill so I happened to see this coffee shop on the map. Seats were few. Interior decor on point. Upon entering, the menu is on the side screen. Order is self serve. Street parking of course is hard to find. But I believe I've found my coffee go to spot! Definatly coming back for more whenever I'm in the area.

I love chai and normally go down to JSQ to get my fix. Loved the chai latte from here too. Probably the best or one of the best I've had. The donut though was slammin.

One of my fav coffee shops and I have visited all 3 locations . The rose chai and lavender honey latte are my go to. The best part is they have a rose donut which tastes like gulab jamoon. They have pictures of bangalore in Hoboken location and it transported me back home.. I go here very often as ambience is beautiful and service is excellent.

Love this coffee shop! The iced taro latte is amazing - I'll definitely be getting that again. Iced rose chai tea latte is also awesome. Iced espresso and morning glory muffin are great, too. Friendly service and they have a bathroom. Next time: I want to try the cold brew.

Always been to the NB location and just recently found out there's one in Hoboken! Very cute and cozy atmosphere - would be a nice place to do some work or study here. Drinks were great and I'd recommend the sparkling cascara soda if you're not a big caffeine person! Perfect amount of sweetness and carbonation.

I ordered the Honey Bee Latte and it was amazing! The staff is really nice too and the inside is very aesthetically pleasing! Very cool overall and great coffee!

I've been to the New Brunswick location so many times and was glad to see there were 2 locations in Hoboken! The cafe is cozy and welcoming. Felt very zen when I walked in and saw the colorful decor. The baristas were also super nice and provided great service. I ordered a latte with skim milk. The coffee was super bold and strong which I haven't tasted at other local coffee shops. Didn't have time to order food but they have many gluten free and vegan sweet options as well as Indian-fusion sandwiches that look interesting!

    Americano size

Finally came around to trying this small coffee shop I've always passed when leaving DD's.. First time ordered an americano, I thought it was super strong and bitter which is usual for a traditional americano but compared to my usual Starbucks americano, I liked Starbucks brew better. Second time ordered peppermint mocha and it came with a cute latte art. Peppermint mocha was good, not too sweet which is my jam. Prices reflect Starbucks prices even for their baked sweets. On my visit I also tried out the Nutella cookie, which is a sandwiched cookie made of oats it seemed and tasted with Nutella in the middle, not bad pretty tasty but I wouldn't order again. For a small peppermint mocha and the Nutella cookie it came out to $10 a bit pricey for a small latte, could've gotten a bigger latte with the treat for the same price at a Starbucks. It's a cute little shop, the people working were friendly too.

Latte and caramel latte with almond milk
    Kristen G.

Loaction is not great. If we hadn't walked by we would have never found it. Ordered a latte and a caramel latte with almond milk. It was pricey. The coffee is roasted by the company which is nice. However the flavor was just not there. It was mild. Cute design on latte. Mine was sloppy lol. Choc o Pain has the best latte in Hoboken so far in our opinion. And price is about the same maybe cheaper. We will not be returning to hidden grounds. Staff wasn't very friendly either, unfortunately and it was our first time ever visiting and they didn't recommend anything either. We do like the personalized sleeves and cups with their label on it. It's artsy.

Free drip coffee on Mondays! I couldn't believe it. I've gone into car dealerships and acted like I was interested in a car just for the free coffee. I've walked into hotels and acted like I had a room for the free coffee. Whenever I get my oil changed, the main deciding factor on where I go is if they have free coffee. So when a coffee shop was offering free coffee, my mind was blown. Usually when I get free coffee there is a reason it's free, it tastes terrible. This place has one of the best free coffees around. I decided not to be too cheap and ordered a bagel too. It was delicious!

We came in around 1:30pm on Saturday and there was a line, but I didn't wait longer than 20 minutes. There's really no menu on site, so you can kind of just listen to what people are ordering and figure out what sounds good. Originally, I was going to get two sandwiches, but I saw the size of them and decided we really only needed one full one. I got the gravy on the size, which I definitely recommend if you're going to be eating it even just a little bit later. This worked well for us, as we had about a 20 minute drive home. The mozz was fantastic and so was the roast beef. I would come back just to order both by the pound. I didn't love the bread, so I think my next step would be to just buy all the ingredients myself and then provide my own bread at home. Service was very prompt and friendly.

I looked over the menu and ordered their namesake, the Cappone: Capicola, Soppressata, Salami, Provolone, Arugula, Mozzarella, Hot Peppers. I asked which bread they recommended (seeded loaf) and went with that. It was an exemplary sandwich. Plus it was enough for 2 meals! I cannot recommend them high enough. 100 stars!

I think after trying several italian sandwich spots I don't think it's necessarily for me but the meatball sub was tasty and definitely worth the money. It's a small mom and pop shop vibe inside and you can order ahead which is great because sometimes the line gets really long especially on the weekends. The people were nice. It's close to a park so you can eat outside with a coffee and enjoy a quick lunch. It's nice to have a place that is a little more no-frills in the west village and you can pick it up on a lazy weekend, in the middle of a workday, etc.

I had been saying for days that I was craving a good Italian deli sandwich, and my partner came across Vito's & Son Italian Deli in Hoboken. Well, it does not get much more authentic than this. What an experience. You know how some Italian restaurants say they make you feel like family? At Vito's, we actually felt it the moment we walked in. The welcome was warm, genuine, and immediate -- the kind of hospitality that cannot be faked. As we browsed the extensive deli menu, I had to ask what "mutz" meant. I am from Chicago, where we usually say "mozz," so this was my first time seeing it written in what I can only call New Jersey-ian. Without hesitation, they gave us a sample of their fresh, in-house-made mozzarella, and it was absolute perfection -- soft, fresh, creamy, and exactly what fresh mozzarella should be. We took several subs to go, and every single one was delicious. I had The Vito's, which was incredibly satisfying -- packed with that classic Italian deli flavor and everything I had been craving in a sub, and then some. My partner had The Sophia Loren, which was also full of flavor and definitely worth ordering again. My mom had what I ordered as a custom Caprese sandwich since I could not find it on the extensive menu -- mutz, fresh basil, tomato, balsamic vinaigrette, and herbs. It was so fresh, simple, and delicious. We also tried the arancini. The traditional one brought back memories of what used to be some of the best arancini in Chicago at Monastero's, which sadly is no longer around. That is not a comparison I make lightly. The cheese arancini was also wonderful, and the sauce was divine. Personal preference: I could have used just a touch more salt in the sauce, but the flavor was still excellent. Of course, we could not leave without dessert. The cannoli had the perfect balance of softness and crunch, and the filling was delicious. And naturally, we had to take home a pound of that fresh mutz. When we got home, we turned the leftovers into the perfect little Italian deli dinner. We thinly sliced the remaining halves of the subs, added fresh mozzarella, sliced tomatoes, balsamic vinaigrette, and wine. It became a charcuterie-style dinner that felt like the perfect ending to the trip. Taking a detour through Hoboken was absolutely worth it. Some Italian restaurants claim to treat you like family, but at Vito's & Son, we truly felt it. We are already planning another stop on our next trip because we still need to try the homemade freezer dishes -- and, of course, the homemade tiramisu. If you have not been to Vito's & Son Italian Deli, do yourself a favor and go. Authentic, welcoming, delicious, and completely worth the detour.
