I was so glad to finally visit this place a few months ago for the first time. The service is relatively quick for how busy they get and the setting is extremely fun! The inside of the location is pretty small but opens up into a beautiful backyard with plenty of seating. Wait times can vary and line is usually down the sidewalk. Location: the heart of downtown. Across from a big municipal lot and not far from the river. It's the historic district and they are next door to the social club. Exterior: very cool set up. A total vibe. Dinosaurs is the theme but I love how there were hidden ones all over. Small to large. You can purse them etc and there are a lot. When you order your drink you are directed to the patios for a call out through a window that they have on the floor of the patio outside. It was the waiting area but then you'd find yourself immersed in the decorations and you'd want to stay lol Staff/service: very nice! Patient as we read through the menu- which can be so diverse you should probably know what you plan to order going in. No real food options just cookies and pastries. I was a bit skeptical before trying out Hidden Grounds but I was pleasantly surprised by the service and coffee. Sometimes it seems if places are too well decorated that the service or food and drinks are not the best, but they really have it all. The staff is really welcoming and happy to answer any questions you have. They make great coffee and even have some food options. Love this cool new coffee spot! They source their coffee from Perc in Savannah, Georgia. I got the Dino campfire, which is espresso and whole milk with toasted marshmallows. The Dino campfire was a wonderful start to my morning before work. It is a bit pricey though at $5.60. If you get it iced, they won't be able to torch the marshmallows. Almond milk and oat milk are available. The other best part of this spot is their backyard hang out garden with touches of dinosaurs. There are some shaded seating areas as well as open. There wasn't any music playing and I don't know if they plan to. It felt relaxing and peaceful. Next door is the city club of Wilmington which you can enter through the gate from their backyard - you walk around, but unfortunately, can't hang out in. Didn't look like it was wheelchair friendly, since there are steps. The owners were very nice and friendly. Can't wait to go back to hang out in the garden with a nice cup of coffee! read more

What a fun place we just happened to find! First of all, the line was out the door, which was a great sign. The inside was cutely decorated with cowboy and dinosaur decor. I got the Toasty Jack which was really good, but the pumpkin flavor was a little strong. All of my friends thoroughly enjoyed their drinks. I also got an Apple toaster pastry which was phenomenal! Hot or iced, these are unique drinks. The outside space and the theme are the stars of this spot. Outdoors the lush jungle garden is worth a trip. The swing chairs and comfy seating is fantastic. We went on a very hot day and it was comfortable outside in the shade. We recommend ordering the Cold Fashioned - espresso, bitters, simple, and a coffee ice ball. They have almond and oat milk for vegans and dairy-free folk. For non-coffee drinkers they have canned water and bubbly non-alcoholic sippers. There was a short wait when we visited on a Saturday at noon, but it was worth it!! read more

The vibes/music is great. They also allow dogs which is a huge plus! They have very little seats indoors but there's an outdoor area with swings and seating. Upon arrival there was a line out the door, which moved pretty quickly everyone had positive vibes, the inside was great to look at while you waited to order. The process was fairly easy and the place was comfy and cozy but also had that nature feeling and kids and pets could easily be comfortable being in this area with the upstairs outdoor seating. I think the only thing this place is missing is a better selection of milk replacements and food selections. a nice pastry would fit well with this. I ordered a salty Dino and went up the stairs to the outdoor seating area.. weird right? The venue The location is pretty convenient. It is Downtown Wilmington with plenty of parking around. The inside is aesthetic, straight out of Jurassic Park. The coffee shop itself is tiny, but there is an ample seating area in the back. Dogs are allowed. The music was chill, and the volume was adequate for conversations. The service The barista was lovely! She insisted on writing and pronouncing our names correctly. She also was super helpful in brainstorming what to order. Our order was ready in 2-3 minutes. Yep. That's a damn good latte. I had the Marlboro Man signature which was made from organic recycled actual Marlboros harvested from last century when those were still legal. They drizzle it with leather dusting from the actual cow the whole milk comes from. What I'm saying is, gentlemen if you want to still feel like a man while drinking a latte or ladies if you want to feel an actual masculine touch for the first time in a while, stop by this cool little coffee shop on 2nd street. This place is delicious. The service is so sweet. They take the time to spell your name right which I feel like is a nice touch. The T-Rex is so yummy. The seasonal Cindy Lou Brew was delicious and not nearly as sweet as I expected. The outdoor area is the cutest. Great for pictures and has turf which is nice for babies. Hidden Grounds is such a treat whenever we are out downtown. I'll let the structural design, decor, and "hidden" patio speak for themselves, but the drink menu with seasonal drinks is enough to make this place stand out. For non-coffee drinkers, they do have a selection of mood-boosting/relaxing canned beverages to choose from. It's not surprising for there to be a bit of a line, but it moves quickly and we rarely have a problem finding somewhere to sit. There is no restroom as it is a small structure. read more
