The venue The location is pretty convenient. It is Downtown Wilmington with plenty of parking around. The inside is aesthetic, straight out of Jurassic Park. The coffee shop itself is tiny, but there is an ample seating area in the back. Dogs are allowed. The music was chill, and the volume was adequate for conversations. The service The barista was lovely! She insisted on writing and pronouncing our names correctly. She also was super helpful in brainstorming what to order. Our order was ready in 2-3 minutes. Coffee and food They have a simple but original menu with some solid options! Most of the items on their specialty menu are offered cold or hot. The coffee was pretty damn good! This place is delicious. The service is so sweet. They take the time to spell your name right which I feel like is a nice touch. The T-Rex is so yummy. The seasonal Cindy Lou Brew was delicious and not nearly as sweet as I expected. The outdoor area is the cutest. Great for pictures and has turf which is nice for babies. However, don't bring a stroller. It's a small place with several sets of stairs. Will be back! read more

Yep. That's a damn good latte. I had the Marlboro Man signature which was made from organic recycled actual Marlboros harvested from last century when those were still legal. They drizzle it with leather dusting from the actual cow the whole milk comes from. What I'm saying is, gentlemen if you want to still feel like a man while drinking a latte or ladies if you want to feel an actual masculine touch for the first time in a while, stop by this cool little coffee shop on 2nd street. Hidden Grounds is such a treat whenever we are out downtown. I'll let the structural design, decor, and "hidden" patio speak for themselves, but the drink menu with seasonal drinks is enough to make this place stand out. For non-coffee drinkers, they do have a selection of mood-boosting/relaxing canned beverages to choose from. It's not surprising for there to be a bit of a line, but it moves quickly and we rarely have a problem finding somewhere to sit. There is no restroom as it is a small structure. read more

I love coffee shops and was basically stalking this place for months before they opened. There was at least one time that I got busted peeking through the window like a creeper. Once they opened, I was thrilled. I can't say much about their seating area that hasn't been said already - it's cute and super Instagrammable. Their line is usually absolutely insane considering how many coffee shops are within a two block radius, but I'm super happy for them about that - the owners clearly worked hard for the space. The drinks are thoughtful and tasty with plenty of options. For me, the highlight is the staff. The owners seem like such genuinely kind people who really make an effort to know their customers even during their busy times. Service like that is hard to find and for a business that doesn't really need to go that extra mile - they'd be popular based on ambiance alone - it's really nice that they make the effort. Wilmington does have a lot of great coffee shops and the line is sometimes a bit much for me, but I like to swing by during off hours. I had the old fashioned & a poptart: both were fabulous. The atmosphere was amazing. I don't work from home, but if I did I would be here at least once a week.
