Hide & Seek was a great find and the atmosphere was stylish, intimate, and relaxed, creating a great speakeasy experience without feeling overcrowded or overly loud. The drinks were well-crafted, and the service was excellent from start to finish. If you're looking for a spot with a cozy atmosphere, and exceptional service, Hide & Seek is definitely worth checking out. We'd happily return on our next visit to Salt Lake City.

Went here the first time for my birthday. Great speakeasy entrance and the parking garage is next door easy. The chef came out and explained the plates and we also asked for recommendations on how to eat for example the squash blossoms. So interesting and so good eating it the way the chef prepares it. Burrata salad was interesting but good. Lamb chops my husband picked up the bone to clean off the meat it was good. Then the deconstructed Sunday..the best. We will be back.

Beyond impressed! I ducked into Hide & Seek and they surprised me. You enter through Bonnie & Clyde's coffee shop, wander past bookshelves, then one of those shelves swings open into a dim and moody spot. Behind the bar was the Van Gogh skeleton painting staring back at me. Already hooked. Chef Justen (yes, from Alinea in Chicago) is at the helm, and you can taste and see that pedigree. It's definitely an art. We stuck to the small items. They call it forplay. This section gave me more chances to admire my artistic food. We had the scallop ceviche, razor clams, pesto ravioli, and the 1000 layer potato cake! There were pour shows and special ways to eat these masterpieces. The servers walk you through everything. Service was elevated and polished and the ambiance was intimate and moody. This spot nails every detail of a special dinner without the gimmicky cheesiness. Don't forget to let your phone eat first! Salt Lake City found its Wow Factor restaurant!

This is a hidden gem (pun intended) The drinks were a revelation. Come for those alone. The food was delicious. Its at a 1 michelin star in terms of taste and conception. The spacing of tables allows for great conversation. The ambiance could use a litttttle work but overall 5/5 stars! This is a must go

Small and intimate and everyone that waited on us were so good! We were first given an amuse bouche that was something with pork in a small little wafer cone that was savory. I'm not exactly sure but it was so good! We got the shells ala vodka to share and ooooooooooh it was so delicious. The shells were big and the sausage was perfectly seasoned. And I wanted a whole container of that vodka sauce. I got the red snapper and it was an incredible explosion of flavors, especially with the sauce! Which was beautifully poured on my plate by our waiter Bailey. He was wonderful. I also ordered the island daisy sour and it was very smooth!

We came here tonight to celebrate our 9th anniversary and we had a great time at Hide & Seek! A super fun ambiance, love the hidden entrance. We started off with the blossoms de tinga and it was so well balanced. BUT one of the insides of the blossom was cold - the other wasn't. So I'm not sure how it was supposed to be? Both sauces were great. Great amount of spice. Just delicious. We then got the U10 scallop because if I'm going to try scallop for the first time it'll be here! Absolutely delightful. Perfectly cooked, and balanced. The lime added life to it in a way I've never experienced with seafood. We then got the raviolo. The actual raviolo was a bit forgettable for us - the star was that garlic focaccia and and those sauces. I don't know how they managed to get so much smoke into that bread but it was one of the best bites of the night. We loved the scallop so much we ordered another one. Then we ordered the short rib as our entree! The lady next to me described it as "meat butter" and it was! My letdown was the courgette swirls (aka what they call zucchini in the UK). I wish they would've picked any other veg to accompany the beautiful short rib. The zucchini lacked flavor and wasn't served hot - which was a little off putting for me. For dessert we got a kiwi and strawberry cake. I couldn't taste the kiwi and the whole desert was overly sweet for me. We had a lovely service - lovely server and overall great experience. For the price, a meal like this is well worth it!

Went for a date night without realizing it was the very first Sunday service--and what a great surprise. They were offering a special Sunday menu (photos included), and everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. The prime rib was perfectly cooked, the chicken was fantastic, and the pommes purée were next-level. The service really stood out. The staff was attentive without being intrusive, and the bartender, Chris, brought serious attention to detail to my cocktail--it genuinely elevated the experience. We'll definitely be back. The only small piece of feedback would be to dim the lighting just a bit (maybe 20%) to lean even more into that speakeasy vibe. Overall, an excellent experience and a great addition to the scene.

My husband booked this restaurant from home, Back in Chicago. I figured it's a speak easy entrance, which I love, Usually, this means regular American food. It was anything but. We have lived all over the country, have family who have lived all over the world, and the crazy thing is, the chef is from Alinea, a triple Michelin star restaurant back home in Chicago. The bartender hails from PJ Clark's, (many moons ago,) from NYC and he is a mixologist like no other. If you are looking for amazing food, with an amazing show, this is it! I have no idea how they aren't on Michelins radar, but they should be. 54 years on the face of this earth, an experiencer, looking for the best the world has to offer, rather than a materialistic person, this did not disappoint, and went straight to the top of the best of the best I've ever had. I just can't say enough about the whole entire meal from beginning to end. Something straight out of The Bear, it was a magical meal. Thank you to Justin and his crew! Thank you, thank you! You want to go here, and trust me, as weird as you think this menu might be, it's off the chain in taste. For once in my life, I have absolutely nothing negative to say.

SUPER cool speakeasy behind a bookcase in the Bonnie & Clyde's Cafe in downtown SLC. As you walk into the cafe, everything looks normal...until you're greeted by the host next to a mysterious looking bookshelf. He confirms your reservation and begins to open the bookshelf and welcomes you in. SUPER COOOL. Very dark and moody inside with some cool artwork. Really chill vibes and the music was spot on. Red Hot Chilli Peppers were playing. It's not a big place at all, maybe 10 tables spaced out well enough for privacy. The chairs were really comfy too. I didn't expect it, but they began bringing out complementary dishes (Amuse Bouche): first the potato pave and then the popovers. Both were amazing, but the potato pave was outta this world. They are bite size and recommend you pop the whole thing in your mouth (TIP: if you order the filet mignon, it comes with a larger version of the potato pave, which I'll be getting next time). Overall a really nice surprise. I ordered the Cod. Cooked really nice and I liked the veggies in the foam. Never had anything like it. We decided not to get desert, only because we were stuffed, but the sticky toffee banana desert would have been the choice. SERVICE: Some of the best service in SLC. Our waitress was on top of it. She even had an assistant who cleared plates immediately, made sure water was topped off, and otherwise made sure you were comfortable. I couldn't ask for better service. I can't wait to come back and experience Hide & Seek all over again.

We sat at the bar for dinner. Highly recommend!! Bartenders were highly attentive and very knowledgeable on every aspect of the menu. Not pictured was my filet, cooked to perfection! Cashew crusted carrot was the best! I despise carrots and tried a bite to be polite. Ended up eating it all. Also potato pave with caviar...100 layers of deliciousness.

Parking- if you park under the apartments where you scan the code, do not pay until you go inside to get it validated. Once they validate you then you can fill everything else out. I learned the hard way I paid and then went in side. But the parking people were nice and issues me a refund after emailing them, Walking into a coffee shop. Wait there is a book case that opens! Step inside to a speak easy! From start to end. Service was amazing. Felt well taken care of. My favorite is when they bring out each dish and explain what you ordered and how to eat it. Right when you sit you get first dish called potato pave. It was like a little taste of what is coming and knew we were going to enjoy dinner. After drink/dinner order you get a pop over that was so light and tasted really good. Loved the jelly and cheese you eat with it. Drink- jungle something. While alcohol taste was light I enjoyed the drink. We got the croquettes for appetizers. I'll take 14 of them spectacular! Entree- salmon. The salmon was perfectly cooked. The saffron risotto underneath it was too salty for me. I tried to eat it with the burre blanc but I couldn't. So I just ate the salmon. Husband got the cod- and it tasted light and like fresh with the greens. Hard to explain but it was really good. We didn't feel like super stuffed but we were full. We skipped dessert nothing really called out to us. We would have tried the sticky toffee but I don't really like banana. I would have tried it but hubby said maybe next time. Overall I'd give it 4.5 stars that risotto was too salty but everything else was great. Service ambiance food is worth the price. Love the pictures on the wall and music was great! Definitely coming back to taste more dishes

Such a great spot! Me and my wife went there for dinner and it absolutely checked every box for a phenomenal experience. The space is really great, very intimate setting, it's small and the tables are kind of close but in no way cramped, just big enough to accommodate everyone but still small enough it feels like a secret spot behind a bookcase. The service was some of the best we have had in Utah, they did a great job hiring. The food was exactly what you expect, delicate sizes but tremendous flavors we tried a bit of everything but I don't eat much red meat so I got the pork chop, it was next level good. It f you have been considering it just pull the trigger and make a reservation now!

This place was amazing. I saw Hide & Seek on some foodie accounts on social media and immediately had to make a reservation. The total came out to $150 (after tip) for two of us, which included the price for our appetizer, entrees, dessert, and a drink. To answer some questions you might have: * You can park in the retail parking spaces at 6th and Main and the host/hostess will validate your parking! We got up to two hours free! * They check ID at the bookshelf door. * There are people sitting by the bookshelf to check you in. * You will be asked to order appetizers and entrees all at once (but they'll bring the menu back out for dessert) It was a cozy (but somewhat crowded) interior, and was very lively on a Saturday night. The potato pave and the London popover were no additional cost, which was a nice surprise! We ordered the salmon sashimi as an appetizer, and got the sunflower pesto and sea bass for entrees. For dessert, we wanted the basque cheesecake but they were out, so we got the sticky toffee banana cake. We were full before dessert, but shared each of the dishes between the two of us. The food was very flavorful and the presentation was stunning. The portions were pretty generous, considering the premium prices.

Can we order only drinks and not food at the bar?

Yes, you can. You still need a reservation for bar seating and you can just order drinks.

When making a reservation there are several options: There's 'restaurant', 'bar', 'bar seating' and 'dining room'? Which is the best for a date night?

It's a small and intimate venue so honestly anywhere is great to sit at. We sat at the bar and it was a lot of fun watching the bartenders make the drinks. And we had more than one person ready to help us at any given time. So it's completely…

I want to come work here! The food was really good, and really expensive! Our bill was $145 for the two of us. Our server Jaxson was really knowledgeable on the menu, and really friendly. I don't think there's a bad seat in the house as all the burlesque dancers move around the space. Be prepared with some ones to tip them, but they also take Venmo. I'd love to come back!

Sad to say, I'm not quite sure what all the hype is about…read more We had to sit outside because the indoor dining room was fully booked for the show. The night actually started off great. Our server was funny, personable, and attentive, especially when it came to drinks and refills. Things started going downhill when I received my entree, the Poor Man's Truffle. Unfortunately, the only way this dish lived up to its name was in how little the supposedly high-quality ingredients seemed to come through. The dish itself is fairly simple, which normally isn't a bad thing when the ingredients are meant to speak for themselves. With Belper Knolle, truffle oil, pistachio pesto, tomato, fennel, and arugula, I expected something flavorful and well balanced. Instead, the entire dish tasted incredibly mild. Belper Knolle is typically a bold, salty, peppery cheese, and I could visibly see the black pepper around the edges of the thin shavings, but the flavor barely registered. I also couldn't taste the truffle oil at all. There was visible oil pooling at the bottom of the plate, but no noticeable truffle flavor. I understand pistachio pesto tends to be more subtle than a traditional basil pesto, but altogether, this dish just fell completely flat for me. The presentation didn't help either. It looked more like something that had been scooped from a pan and dropped onto the plate than a thoughtfully plated entree. When a dish misses both on flavor and presentation, that's when it becomes a real disappointment for me. I will say the gnocchi itself was cooked well, which was one of the few positives. I also tried the burger, and it was significantly better than my pasta. However, the very small sprinkle of bacon was a little baffling considering it was an additional upcharge. Where the night really went downhill was at the end of the meal. I had been excited to try the beignets because that isn't a dessert I see on menus very often. Our entree plates were cleared, and then we waited about 20 minutes before our server returned and asked whether we were ready for the check. Dessert wasn't mentioned, and by that point our table was tired of waiting, so we decided to skip it and asked for our checks. Then our server disappeared for another 30 minutes. We eventually had to flag down a hostess who was seating another table and let her know that we were still waiting for the check. About five minutes later, our server finally returned and casually explained how "crazy" the night had gotten because of the show. I understand restaurants get busy, but the apology felt very dismissive after we had waited nearly an hour from finishing our entrees to finally receiving the check. It genuinely felt like our table had simply been forgotten. I also want to add that I tend to hold restaurants like this to a higher standard. I'm a big believer in "you get what you pay for." If I'm eating at a fast-food spot or somewhere inexpensive and casual, there's only so much room to complain. But when a restaurant has prices like this, highlights premium ingredients on the menu, and presents itself as a more elevated dining experience, I think that naturally opens the food and service up to more criticism. At that price point, I expect the quality, presentation, and overall experience to reflect what I'm paying for. My final takeaway is that maybe I ordered the wrong dish. Pesto is one of my favorite things, so I almost always want to give a pesto-based dish a try. Unfortunately, Prohibition's pesto gnocchi was not it for me. I also saw that they describe themselves as a scratch kitchen using high-quality, locally sourced ingredients, which I don't necessarily doubt. What confused me was how so many ingredients that should have distinct flavors somehow tasted like almost nothing. If your goal is interesting drinks and a fun show, this is probably still a place worth considering. Since we sat outside, I can't speak on the show part, but it seems to be a big hit. Food-wise, though, it missed the mark for me.

At $29 with the steak, they're definitely on the pricier side, but the portion size helps justify the cost. The serving is massive--I could easily see two or even three people sharing it as a meal. By the time I finished, it honestly looked like I had barely made a dent in it. The steak was incredibly tender and packed with flavor, and every bite was loaded with toppings. The staff was also very friendly and welcoming. I stopped by during an off-peak time, so it wasn't very busy, which made for a relaxed experience. One thing that really stood out was their Guinness. As someone who appreciates a proper pour, I have to give them credit--they know exactly what they're doing. Too many places rush it, but here you can tell they take pride in serving it the right way.
