    Caprese Salad
    Kassie S.

We had the best evening here last night. We had a couple of flights and then individual pours afterwards, ate a caprese salad, folllowd by a greek pizza and bianca pizza. All delicious. The cook of the pizza was perfect too. We were also surprised with a creme brûlée and that was not only so tasty, but just a fabulous end to our meal! I will continually tell people to come to Bar a Vin because not only is the food and wine fabulous, the hospitality is beyond amazing. Thank you Kimo for helping us have such a great time, we can't wait to come back!

The food was absolutely delicious the ambiance was amazing and we really enjoyed the hospitality and knowledge from our server Kimo. I would definitely recommend you trying this place really Close to downtown Utah, the only set back is parking there is only street parking and not much. This restaurant is a must try!!!

Feast your eyes on this great pairing!

Bar à Vin: Where Wine Dreams Don't Just Live, They Breathe Salt Lake City. Maybe not the first place that comes to mind when you think of an innovative, effortlessly cool wine bar with the largest selection of vino west of the Mississippi. And yet, here it is - Bar à Vin, standing proudly among the city's culinary scene, quietly reminding you that great wine isn't about snobbery, exclusivity, or knowing how to pronounce "terroir" with a French accent. It's about pleasure. Unapologetic, beautifully simple, deeply satisfying pleasure. Kasey, the owner and sommelier, isn't just slinging bottles - he's orchestrating an experience. 120 wines on tap, each preserved with a high-tech argon system that ensures every sip is as alive as the winemaker intended. Whether you're committing to a bottle, dabbling in a 1-ounce pour, a 3-ounce pour, or surrendering to a full flight, the choices are endless. But this isn't some soulless, tech-driven novelty. This is craftsmanship, a celebration of the nuances, the dirt, the history in every glass. And what's great wine without food to match? Enter Chef d'Cuisine Jerry Liedtke, the kind of guy who doesn't just "pair" food with wine - he understands it. He leans into its complexities, elevating, complementing, challenging-never overshadowing. Then there's Lucy, the bar manager and her team, ensuring the entire experience is seamless, like an elegant but unpretentious waltz between your glass, your plate, and the company you keep. The vibe? Trendy without trying; classy without the pretense. The kind of place where you can walk in wearing a suit or jeans and feel equally at home. It's a wine bar for people who actually love wine, not just the idea of it. The events? Inspired. The reservations? A wise move. The option to rent the entire space? Genius. So, go. Drink the good stuff. Talk to strangers. Let the wine do what it does best - bring people together. Because that's what this place is really about. Not just wine. Not just food. But life.

This place is such a gem and SLC is lucky to have them! 5/5 for the wine, food, and service! My boyfriend and I came on a Thursday night and it was a slow night so we got to chat a ton with the bartender/co-owner. He was very knowledgeable about wine and was very pleasant to talk with. We tried a couple of wine flights (Tour de France, Ryder Cup, and For the Swifties) and they were all so delicious. The "For the Swifties" based on Orrin Swift's wines was such a pleasant surprise; we now have some new favorite wines! Overall, the collection of wines was massive (over 120) and you can try as little as 1 oz. to see if you like them. The assortment and versatility in trying is much greater than any other wine bar in Utah. We also had a petite charcuterie board and it was wonderful-- it was the perfect pairing for the wines we drank, and the pricing was reasonable. The space is rather large and they have the ability to hold a lot of people. The decor is pretty simple right now, but they are still in their soft opening phase and will be adding more (including pizza and crepes) and will do a grand opening soon. We are excited to bring our friends here and become regulars!

Love this place! Their specialty is little wine flights so you get a chance to try lots of different wines. The service is spectacular. Kimo is the best! He's passionate, friendly, and knows his stuff. We've also had Lucy who is excellent. This place also takes feedback seriously. Every time we visit they've taken it up a notch, between the menu and atmosphere and wine selection (service has always been 110%). We brought our friends for a little celebration a few months back, and they all loved it! There was something for everyone, between the flights (ranging from $-$$$, so you can enjoy it no matter your budget) and appetizers.

A great selection of wines that can be tried in varying sizes and combinations as well as some tasty pizza!

Bar à Vin is AMAZING! At first it is pretty overwhelming with the amount of wine that they have. But with the help of the staff and extremely knowledgeable owner we settled in right away. We were visiting the Salt Lake for our annual sister weekend and just happened on this place and I am sure glad that we did! The prices are reasonable and the food is perfect! The table we sat at was so comfortable and great for larger groups. If we are ever in the area again we will definitely be going!

Incredible experience at Bar A Vin, went on a Thursday after a work conference and was so impressed with the ambiance and delicious wine. Plenty of options whether you are a new wine drinker or experienced sommelier! The food was also SO good, which is so rare to find at a wine bar. The servers are knowledgeable and the prices were extremely reasonable. Highly recommend if you are looking for a bite to eat and/or a decision wine to pair it with.

Second time here and it was as good as the first. The selection is amazing and their ability to have hundreds of great wines curated for by the glass service is something special. The staff are at the perfect attentive but not hovering level of service and offer great details about the grapes and regions.

Our first night here was so much fun!! We loved the different flight choices. The names and the Wines. Food was super yummy too!

Creamy feta dip with vegetable chips. Absolutely fabulous and pairs beautifully with almost any wine.

It seems that we are incredibly lucky in Salt Lake City and surrounding environs in that a new restaurant or two pop up every day. We are amidst a sea of places to eat, drink and be merry. In this vast sea of dining opportunities, it's always nice when there is something unique that is not only different, but innovative and so interesting that you'd want to keep going back again and again. Bar a Vin is that place for me. As you walk in the sparse, modernist space, the first thing you see is a wall of lighted coolers and bottle after bottle of wine. All standing at attention, labels forward and begging for your attention. Pick me! Pick me! they seem to be saying. As someone who enjoys wine, that is often the biggest downside to imbibing. I usually go with what I know I already like, which means I'm seldom able to drift into my explorative side. Basically, unless I am at a tasting room, I don't want to order multiple glasses of wine, sample them and then drink them and try to find my way home (no wine left behind, I always say). Yes, it works in a tasting room environment because the amounts are kept to a minimum and that's exactly what Bar a Vin is and why it's so cool. The big wall of wine is a distribution system that allows the barkeep - Kimo at our visit - to pour one, three or five ounces pours at the push of a button. This means that when I found a particular wine I really liked in my Italian-themed Fuggetaboutit flight, I could order an additional three ounce pour to enjoy more fully. It also meant that when I thought the white from the Piedmont region tasted quite similar to a Hungarian tokai, I could order a one ounce Hungarian tokai to use as a reference sample to compare the two. It was really enjoyable and if you're an oenophile, you'll probably spend a ton of time here, asking Kimo a ton of questions and getting a ton of great answers, as he's really quite knowledgeable, especially when it comes to California reds. Bar a Vin is a place to explore and while the wines are big stars here, one cannot overlook the food. After all, nothing pairs better with food than wine and wine with food. In Bar a Vins case, not only have they curated an exceptional group of wines, they've also landed one of the best chefs anywhere for their kitchen. Who better to make sure you get the right flavors to bring out the smallest details in a wine than the award winning chef Jerry Liedtke? Yes, you know him from the Tin Angel and several other incredible places and he's creating some exceptional offerings to match nicely with the wines. From artisanal pizzas to a creamy feta dip that is to die for. I'm told that the menu is expanding and wines are always being added to keep things interesting. Bar a Vin is an island in Utah's inland dining sea and I could happily be marooned here for a long, long time.

Amazing place! The atmosphere and vibe of this place is just what we needed while visiting Salt Lake City. Our server was very knowledgeable on the wine and gave us amazing recommendations while also walking us through their extensive menu. My boyfriend and I loved this, couldn't recommended this wine bar more!

All I can say is WOW!!! This place is exactly what Salt Lake City needed and is such a fun, laidback, classy atmosphere. The owner himself served us, he is a certified sommelier and he was so nice. All ofthe staff were incredibly knowledgeable on the hundreds of wines on the menu. Also the charcuterie was AMAZING! After just living in Italy for 9 months, I felt like I was back there with their quality of the cold cuts and cheese. No corners were taken. This place would be so fun to do a girls night, work event, birthday party, etc. We will be back!!!!

At $29 with the steak, they're definitely on the pricier side, but the portion size helps justify the cost. The serving is massive--I could easily see two or even three people sharing it as a meal. By the time I finished, it honestly looked like I had barely made a dent in it. The steak was incredibly tender and packed with flavor, and every bite was loaded with toppings. The staff was also very friendly and welcoming. I stopped by during an off-peak time, so it wasn't very busy, which made for a relaxed experience. One thing that really stood out was their Guinness. As someone who appreciates a proper pour, I have to give them credit--they know exactly what they're doing. Too many places rush it, but here you can tell they take pride in serving it the right way. Their drink selection is also extensive. Whether you're a beer fan or looking to try a unique cocktail, there's no shortage of great options. I'd definitely come back, especially with a group to help tackle those nachos!

The prices were very reasonable! Drafts were $7 and some cocktails were $11. The bartenders were super friendly and polite and talented! I really enjoyed watching them prepare five drinks at once without loosing a beat! The music was also great! They were rocking early 2000s jams. I ordered their penecilin cocktail which had ginger, honey, coconut and lemon with whiskey and it was delicious!! Everyone else enjoyed their drinks and we had a great time!

In full transparency it has been 2-3 years since my first and last visit to Water Witch. I noticed this in my drafts and thought I should complete my review. That said, I think I hyped this place up in my head too much before my visit because of the James Beard nod. So when it didn't quite hit the mark for me, I was disappointed. It's quite an intimate bar. By that I mean small space inside. The main bar has seating of course and there are a few seating areas directly behind the barstool area. There is a small walkway that separates the bar and the seating area. So the seating area is looking straight forward at the bartenders and the backs of people on barstools. I felt like the people behind me were staring into my soul lol, but that's a me problem ha. It's a modern design and beautifully decorated. I had two drinks. One from the menu and one that I told the bartender what I liked and disliked. He then made a drink based upon my taste. In my opinion it tasted similar to the one from the menu, which was disappointing because I was hoping for something different. There was one bartender that evening and one bar back, so even with the few people at the bar (I'd say 6-7 including me and a guest) and the 4 people seated behind us. It took some time to get his attention and order a drink. Which is part of the reason I only had two drinks. I would probably give this place another try since it's been some time since I've been there. As I always like to say. Stop in and judge for yourself.
