I would like to start this off with this place is really nice if you want to just sit with a drink in the patio overlooking the bar. Otherwise service was terrible the waitress greeted us by saying the other waitress doesn't want to take your table so I guess I will. Throughout or time here they stood around on their phones not acknowledging the tables. There were multiple tables that were letting their children run around the restaurant and filling their own cups with drinks from the soda machine from behind the counter. Ordered the pickle boat bc they were different but came out absolutely drowned in ranch ruining the taste. The hamburger was fine and drinks were good. As boaters, we always park on the lake. There is a fair amount of seating, although inside are high tops which is tough for some people. The bar needs to have more plastic wine glasses for outside. I don't live drinking that beverage in a tumbler. My spaghetti sauce was very tasty. Everyone liked their meals too. The prices are reasonable. read more

So California Boy (that would be me) flew into Wisco to visit the family this week. Wisco Boy (that would be my younger brother) throws four of us into the car and we end up here. Where is here? I do not have a clue. There were a lot of turns and unmarked streets....thanks to the genius who invented GPS....cuz I would have surrendered if I had to use the Ole Thomas Guide ...I mean look at the Hideaway's address!! I can't even decipher that thing....it looks like coordinates for calling in a mortar attack... Anyway, we sit in the outdoor patio, and the wonderful Liv took care of us. Cocktail? Don't mind if I do, Young Liv. A warmup margarita, and then one of their award winning Bloody Mary's. Seriously. They just won some humongous Bloody Mary Contest on the Summerfest Grounds. Verdict: terrific! Get one! As for food, the four of us dined on a Cobb Salad, a smash burger (topped by cheese curds!), chicken Caesar wrap, and I forgot the fourth meal because I was focused on the Bloody Mary. All I know is that we were truly impressed by the quality food coming out of the kitchen. My "bar by the lake" expectations were low because, hey, we are here to drink by the lake. I know, I know - how many people claim to have been "in the business" and therefore expect their opinion to be taken a bit more seriously? However, I am gonna be that guy! Been responsible for many places, many years. We have been coming to this place for years simply because it is on the lake and is nice to stop at to chill with a drink on the patio when you want to take a break from the water. Was always fun and relaxed, if a bit seedy. Now, though, it is under new ownership and has been extensively remodeled and dressed up cosmetically. DO NOT BE FOOLED!! Service behind the bar is dismal and VERY unfriendly. Surly and unwelcoming is how I would describe it. ( The patio staff remains pleasant and accommodating). It's said that you can judge the quality of a place by it's restrooms, a maxim I firmly agree with. It is obvious that no one at the Hideaway gives a damn about sanitation, cleanliness, appearance or comfort. We stopped in two weeks ago, there was a huge "spit" ( tobacco) stain on top of the urinal that was STILL THERE two weeks later! As with the last time, there was no toilet paper (men's or women's) and both garbage cans overflowing onto the floor. The commode rim itself was covered with old urine and had clearly not been flushed since it last use. ( The presence of solid waste a dead giveaway!) While the food coming out of the kitchen to the patio seems to look presentable, I would never take the chance that there is one iota of care given to safe and sanitary food practices here. I can only imagine how disgusting it must be behind the scenes when the place doesn't even care about it's public / common areas. Anyway, enough. Suffice to say that I will no longer patronize this place. It's too bad - with so few places to stop on the lake it would be nice if this one treated it's business base with some respect. You'd be hard pressed to find a dirtier place to eat! read more

we went this morning at 9:30am for breakfast with our out of town guests. The waitress informed us their power is out and generator is on, so no coffee and a few other items on the menu. We proceeded to order and was glad we ordered before the place filled up. 1.5 hr later we see other tables getting their food before ours, our waitress was no help informing us status of our food or refilling our drinks. We asked to leave and she said the chef was boxing our food up, so we decided to pay and eat the food there. 15min later still no food, the "boxing" part was clearly a lie or maybe a gimmick they play on their customers. We told the waitress to cancel our order and we will be canceling the transaction with our credit card company. This was one of the worst dining experiences and we will NOT be going back. No respect for their customers or a sense of customer service. read more

Had a pretty good time here. I only went once and it was for a bikini competition. Drinks were good, food was delicious. Pretty good crowd. It's right on the lake so there's lots of people coming and going from the boats. It's fun, its just a little small and compact. They always have events going on which is awesome! I recommend going if you are a local only. The waitstaff seemed more interested in planning what meals to get themselves than helping my husband and me. The waitress had no idea what the specials were and forgot about our drinks. When we asked, she first tried to blame the bartender for taking a break but then realized the drinks were made and waiting for her. The food was delicious! I have no idea what anything cost because the waitress just told us our total and using the POS system told us to check the "no receipt" button. When we requested the receipt she couldn't figure out how to print it, then couldn't even find our order in the system. We sat for 10 minutes before we got our drinks, then the waitress finally showed up and took our order (with an attitude) and proceeded to disappear with no word from her for 35-40 minutes. Went inside to get another's drink from the bar and still never saw her. 10 more minutes with still no service so we went in to tell them we wanted to pay for our drinks and leave. The waitress then came out as we were pushing our chairs in and walking out. On top of the terrible service, the crowd was loud and lewd including the creepy people groping each other at the next table. Don't come here! Literally waited over 45 minutes to be waited on by a server, as the servers kept walking by our table saying they would find us our server. A lady was walking around in her bra barefoot, and there was children watching. The bathrooms had no toilet paper and there was garbage all over the floor. Our table never got service and we ended up leaving after waiting outside in 90 degree weather for food and drinks for almost an hour. Don't waste your time like we did. read more

The place is a hidden gem for the view and appetizers your directly on the lake. Locals recommended this place to me and I thought I was lost it is literally on a dead end road that travels through a housing addition and ends at the hideaway. The locals told us stories of al Capone being in this area and that is kinda where the name came from . Every time we have been to the Hideaway, we have had terrible service but we keep giving it a try because it's on the lake. This last time, we went for breakfast and waited an hour for eggs despite being only the second people there. We watched people who arrived after us get served first. If you are looking for a quiet, not so crowded place to get lake front seating in a relaxed outdoors no-frills place, this is for you. The food is actually really quite good- think bar food... Chicken wings and fries. It's really inexpensive as well. It's kid friendly - with an oversized Adirondack chair that the kids just can't get enough of.
