High Camp had been on my list to try for a while but I am rarely in Sisters. After a morning of skiing at Hoodoo, I stopped for lunch and was very pleased. The inside space is open and clean with an outside patio. The tap list has a good selection of craft beers and ciders. The Yeti rings are unique, tasty and addicting. The Bao sandwich was super. The bun is lighter and fluffier than typical bao buns. I was full but ordered the Momo for takeaway. Glad that I did. The wrapper, filling and sauce were all great. Will definitely return. read more

Really wonderful atmosphere here, I feel like I'm eating a home cooked meal. There's clearly a lot of love put into the food and service! I love burgers and pizzas as much as the next guy but my general take on the Bend food scene is that we sorely need a wider selection of cuisines from other continents. I miss the diversity of flavors that I've enjoyed in other large cities: Cantonese, Persian, Turkish, Spanish, Northern Indian, Southern Indian, Ethiopian, Malaysian, Philipino... my list of unrepresented cuisines in Bend is endless. Given that, it isn't surprising that I enjoyed the offerings at the Himalayan Bites food truck at The Lot (opposite from St Charles Hospital). I was pleased to learn that the same owners had opened High Camp. I was very curious to see whether they had a wider assortment of offerings than the food truck. I don't ordinarily consider restaurants in Sisters as destinations to be worth the drive from Bend. I might consider adding this one to my rotation as a "outing with friends" option. We showed up at 5:30 pm on a Friday and were able to get a table big enough for our party of 7 diners. It's a large space with a poured concrete floor and a garage-door style opening to a mid-sized outdoor deck. You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. I ordered the clearly-named Bao Wow appetizer, the Shapta Beef, and the Momo dumplings. All three had a mixed green salad topped with a blue-cheese based light dressing. The first was a bit imbalanced (the pork to bun ratio was a bit off) but piquant and tasty. The beef in the second was a bit overcooked for my taste but was still tasty and a great complement to a delicious white rice. The third had mildly-flavored beef fillings topped with a lovely sauce. These three dishes were more than enough for two people. One of my dining companions had the Chau Chau noodles, and she remarked that they were the best udon noodles that she'd had. I'm looking forward to trying the rest of the dishes on the menu on my next visit! I'll definitely make a point of checking them out the next time I'm in Sisters. read more

After a tumultuous drive through snowy mountains from Eugene to Bend, we were very hungry for an overdue lunch and also needed a chill spot to catch up on a little work. This place couldn't have been more perfect. While I don't normally condone dining out with a laptop and I don't want to make a habit of it, we were there in off-peak hours and weren't the only ones. Everything we ate and drank was delicious- the bao buns are a different texture than what I am used to, but in a good way! As others have said, the Momo are very tasty. Written up in February 2023 Bend magazine (3 page spread), this is not your ordinary Tap House and Don't be put off by the simple design. The 16+ brews on tap flow. And the food- even for my unadventurous husband the Nepalese/Himalayan food was a delight. The food is mild, but not to worry...they have housemade chili spice you can add to your liking. So many options to choose from. Flights of 4 beers:$7 and pints $6. Owner Pema Sherpa explained the menu and made recommendations. And for me, that is not the best part of this restaurant: the owners Pema and partner Nurbu Sherpa donate their profits to an outcast Nepalese tribe who are "shunned and suffer significantly from poverty." The fiancé and I came in for lunch and to get out of the cold. The staff was lovely and sweet, the ambience was really open, warm, and relaxing, and the FOOD WAS SO GOOD. We ordered the chicken curry and the bone broth soup to share and they both were amazing, but the chicken curry was insanely good. We also ordered a couple of house made chai's, and they were just the right amount of spicy and sweet to get us all warmed up and ready for more time out in the snow. Would absolutely recommend for anyone visiting who is looking for something other than the traditional american cuisine offerings that dominate the area. Local friends of ours brought us here, it's one of their favorite places. We understand why, the food is amazing, the place has a great feel, open and airy, we sat outdoors and our kids played and enjoyed the sunshine. Super welcoming and friendly staff. It was fun to hear about their experience filming Diners, Drive-ins and Dives as it was their debut airing during our visit. They have a really solid selection of draft beer. The fries as an appetizer were really uniquely seasoned and delicious. The chicken curry was fantastic!
