We were in our motor coach and staying at Railside RV Ranch in Williams, AZ. Their mobile technician arrived at our location and began working on the vehicle. Their invoice shows work performed, including replacement of the thermostat and antifreeze. The tech indicated that the wrong thermostat was previously installed in the vehicle and that he had replaced it with the correct one. The vehicle was test driven and the temperature gauge in the Jeep indicated lower than normal temperature, which the tech indicated with the proper level for this vehicle. When we returned home, the vehicle's check engine light came on. We took the Jeep the Carson City Automotive that has worked on the vehicle since purchase. We told the shop owner of the issue of the thermostat as they had replaced it previously a few months ago. After inspection, he called us with his findings. The thermostat that was in the vehicle when he received it for inspection had been modified. The computer check engine light codes revealed "coolant temperature correlation fault". The thermostat that you installed appears to have been "cut and gutted" with only the top cap intact. Pictures and our mechanics diagnoses enclosed.
