Terrible Experience at Sounds Good Mobile in Flagstaff, AZ I had high expectations for Sounds Good Mobile in Flagstaff, but unfortunately, my experience was nothing short of a disaster. I set up an appointment to address the issue where three out of my four speakers weren't working. I thought the problem was either a burned-out head unit, a blown fuse, or possibly some cheap speakers. I wasn't sure, but I trusted the experts at Sounds Good to get it figured out. I met Tim, who immediately diagnosed the issue as a faulty head unit and suggested I buy a $1300 Sony unit. Now, I'm not an audio expert--just like when I go to a doctor or a mechanic, I rely on their expertise. Sounds Good brags about working on high-end cars like Mercedes, Rolls Royce, Porsche and Pantera, so I figured I was in good hands. Their reputation made me feel confident that I would get quality service. So, I paid the $1300 for the new head unit and expected to have the speakers fixed as part of the deal. That was my first mistake: paying without confirming that everything I asked for had been completed. When I got into my truck after the install, the new stereo sounded great--but guess what? The speakers were still dead! How does that happen when you're installing a new head unit? Did anyone even bother to test the speakers? Clearly not. When I asked about the speakers, I was told I would get a "great deal" on them, and that I'd be contacted to schedule the work. Well, here we are--no call, no deal, no speakers. Just a $1300 stereo with half the system still broken. To make matters worse, when I inspected the truck the next day, I noticed that the instrument panel where they installed the head unit was broken in two places. This truck had been in pristine condition--it belonged to my mother and was well taken care of. Now, I'm looking at spending another $1200 to replace the instrument panel that they broke. And let's be real--they're not going to own up to it. I've only lived in Arizona for a year, and I'm proud to be from Oklahoma, where my dad taught me that a man's word is gold. But after dealing with Sounds Good, it's clear they don't live by that standard. They didn't fix the problem they were supposed to, and they caused more damage in the process. I will never go back, and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Save yourself the time and money--look elsewhere for your audio needs. Sounds Good has definitely shown me they don't keep their word or stand behind their work. My guess from reading the other reviews is that if you have thousands and thousands of dollars to spend on a project, they'll treat you a lot better. I I was just gonna copy and paste and review from online and figure that's two reviews but after viewing some of the bad reviews, I'm gonna go ahead and explain what happened. I wanted a system in my vehicle! A friend/family decided to get me a system as a wedding gift he called ,they quoted him roughly around $400 for the whole package the whole deal. Considering I had nothing in my vehicle so he purchased it as credit.They basically provide credit to his account to represent as a gift because they had no form of gift card or etc. I was happily married, and after the honeymoon I was so excited to get my system finally. So I decided to go in. They exspress excitement because we are newly weds and Tell me they would give me a discount because they love weddings and that's their gift to me. OK so they wanted to create a custom box and then they wanted to install of course the amp and sub woofer and a quote for everything including wiring, would come out to roughly around$1400-$1900 way more than $400 so I said OK I have a few speaker boxes to save money I would just need the amp and wires and installment.. during conversation Iinformed him that I plan on getting a new vehicle so when I do that, I'm gonna need my system out of the vehicle and transfer to the new one. He said whenever you do decide to get into another vehicle, bring it back to me I'll take care of it I'll wire it and reinstalled it in your new vehicle quoted me about roughly about 20 bucks just to re-rewire it. He said that was is policy and if he did any work at all in the vehicle he asked that I only bring it back to him because he didn't like anyone messing with his work. OK no problem of course I understood the thought behind "his policy" because you're the one who wired it. moving forward we agreed on just getting the amp and me bringing my speaker for the low price of $400, I don't know too much about it, which I advised him so I said fine as long as my system is bumping, let's do it , using the full amount of my gift. made an appointment and returned with my vehicle. They told me to drop it off and they'll let me know when it would be ready. I left work, dropped off my vehicle and I was sick so I went home and decided to lay down. I left My husband's phone number so they can contact him once it was ready. Once they contacted my husband They said that he had to pay an additional $50 because the total was 450. my husband agreed decided that's fine paying extra $50, He was unsure why but knew I was eager, and determined to get my system which is what I wanted.So the vehicle was ready after my husband went and paid and my sister went to go pick it up when she got there they said they had no records of any gift or credit being applied and that in order for her to take the vehicle she would have to pay the $450! Now this became a bigger issue because they had to contact the person who gifted me and now The or friend (who purchased this gift) was not very happy because we were having problems, they had a conversation between one another and the employee was able to locate the credit and allowed my family to take my vehicle to me. I woke up the next day (because I was sick in bed All that rest of the day.) woke up got in my vehicle turn on my system, and it sounded like shit! Seemed too loud in all the wrong places just sounded horrible. I was upset I wanted to return it but didn't even know how I would go about returning something like that because I mean labor and all that OK so I didn't do nothing about it. It quickly became unbearable so I had my husband listen to it there was no way I could even drive like that. It sounded horrible. He said maybe you just need to turn the amp down so he turned the amp down and it sounded OK ! Or at least better and then about a month goes by it sounds like shit again and my husband discovered that the speaker itself had a leak witch is where the box is not sealed tight and the speaker had a crack in it! OK so now I'm wondering why they allowed me to get a system with a leak in the box and on top of it why not just tell me instead of trying to seal the crack ??? Forcing me to be without music and having a system that sounds like shit!! I had no choice but to get a new box read more

This shop lacks integrity. The one common theme with the poor reviews for Sounds Good, is their inability to handle problems in a professional manner. What separates quality businesses from bad businesses is their ability to handle problems. This business let me down on multiple occasions and I will not return or make any recommendations for others to visit this shop. If you plan to spend more than $500 then I suggest you go somewhere else where you will be treated with respect and professionalism if problems do occur. My project started with a custom fiberglass enclosure for a new car. The shop built the box, installed it and wired up an amp that I pulled from the previous car. It sounded great and looked great. I really wish I stopped there. But, they did such a good job; I decided to purchase Hybrid Audio Technologies speakers, a Rockford Fosgate 3.Sixty OEM integration processor, some sound deadening material and more and I paid them to do the installation. I dropped just under $3000 at this shop for work on this car and an Alpine amp for my other car. When I told James about my disappointment and how much I spent he basically said I did not spend that much. Look it up man! It happened. $2815 and some change. Not only was James unaware that I spent that much, but he said this in a tone that had he known I spent so much, he would have treated me better. This is just ridiculous. All customers should be treated as it they spent a fortune in your shop. That is how you earn more business. I had to take the vehicle back several times to get the work done right. It never was, but that story will be told later. Matt, the shop manager is awful. He told me three times that the work I requested was done. It wasn't. I asked for some specific work, like tinning all the wires at the speakers and amp connections. I also asked that all exposed wires be properly shrink wrapped. The speaker wires were soldered at the speaker terminals, but there were exposed wires left under the passenger seat, along with all the wire ends, copper strands and wood shavings (have you guys heard of a shop vac). There were exposed wires in the dash as well. When I raised this issue James, I was told that these wires are all dead. I reminded him that I did not know whether these were live wires or not and did not care. I asked and paid for all exposed wires to be properly shrink wrapped and this is what I expected to get. I told this to Matt three times and I paid for this work. I told James it was still not done to my satisfaction. I don't believe Matt intended to lie, I just think he is a bad manager. While he likely asked his shop guys to perform the work I requested, he failed to inspect their work and assure the work was completed properly. My relationship is not with the shop guys, but rather the manager and when customer makes special requests for work and pays for it, then it is the manager's responsibility verify the quality of work done by the shop staff. So, either Matt is a liar or just a bad manager. In either case, I still have a ton of work not done to my specifications. And this is why they earn a one star review. Shoddy work, poor attention to detail, argumentative tone when dealing with problems and a lack of business acumen and integrity. List of poor quality of work items: Rear seat latch was broken and fails to lock into position. Several clips were broken and about 3 were lost. There are scratches on the doors from using tools to pry the door panels off. All professionals know that you pry from the front door jam, not the rear where scratches can be seen. Basic lack of skill and knowledge. Subwoofer was to be anchored to a factory bolt location. Instead they drilled holes into the plastic panel to secure the sub. The subwoofer vibrates. They later said they would pull it out and apply more padding to prevent vibrations. Matt said the work was done TWICE and it was not. Finally I fixed this myself. Speaker templates for doors were made by hand from MDF. These adapters looked like a blind man made them. They were not painted to prevent water damage and when they screwed the adapter to the factory door locations, they screwed into the metal instead of the screw mounts, which was part of the purpose of using adapter plates in the first place. Wires were not tinned at the amps. I was promised three times that this would be done. I finally did it myself. I bought 6 sheets of sound deadening material. I paid $300 for material and labor. There were two sheets leftover in the pile where Matt showed me what they were going to install. I expected a refund and did not get it. I really tried hard to like this shop. While things started off great, they just weren't capable of handling problems and this is truly what separates the good businesses from the bad. They won't accept responsibility for their mistake. The owner James has no integrity. When you won't listen to his excuses he resorts to name calling ("a mean, nasty person"), when you ignore the insults then he gets condescending, when you call him out on that then he gets flustered and hangs up on you. Would give 4.5 if it was an option. My F150 had non functioning key pad when purchased 6 years ago. Babbit Ford repaired some wires and replaced key pad. Five years ago I DIY an alarm and remote start, all been working fine. February 2020 key pad wont light up but works. April 2020 key pad stops working and cant lock doors with alarm remote or button in door. Factory key fob works. Sounds Good agreed to trouble shot the wire issue when a new touch key pad did not fix the issue. Five stars for quality of work and the price of only $80. Ford would have ripped me for $85 to diagnosis, then 1 to 2 hrs at $125 each to repair. Seems the prior Ford repair was not done well and the soldier points failed. Dang SteelerShips! The .5 loss of a star is because it was hard to get a reply on truck status for 2 days. Bottom line though, I will go back if I need other alarm or stereo work. read more

I was very surprised by the horrible service I received at this new location. At their old location, when the owner was involved in all the transactions (or at least in earshot), customer service was actually a thing. I came in today, as the smart start on my car stopped working after the dealer installed new locks. I assumed they unplugged it, looked under my dash, saw the blinking lights and confirmed it was unplugged. Seemed like an easy fix on the manufacturers website, but it's not my specialty and I figured I'd support a local business that specializes in it instead of messing with it myself. Bad idea-- new location has horrible custom service (owner wasn't around) and employees who have nice curse words lined up for customers. I was treated like dirt from the start. Once I walked in the guy upfront told me I needed to call the manufacturer to program it. I said it was already programmed and told him what troubleshooting I did, and what the manufacturer website said it was. He said they'd take a look at it but I had to l leave my car with them for a couple hours. Wasn't an option at the time, so I asked about booking an appointment later on so I could wait for it, or at least have a ride planned. The employee took extreme offense to this like I was demanding they looked at it right away. Telling me they have projects right now that were scheduled earlier, and continued treating me like a 5 year, explaining how a list works. After he was done explaining to me how appointments get priority and other obvious things, he asked me if I wanted to schedule an appointment later "when we don't have cars in the bay that booked appointments earlier". That was exactly what I asked for in the first place when he took it the wrong way. I work in a similar industry, so I know how things work. I wasn't expecting them to drop everything and help me-- thus, I can honestly say I did not have a tone, attitude, or anything that would have warranted this type of response. Due to the poor customer service, I said "no thank you" to the appointment question. The employee was visibly (still) angry, said okay and walked away. As I was walking out the door, the same employee had quite a nice curse word to call me. Since he had already closed the door to the back by the time I turned around, I asked another employee if I heard the first employee correctly. He said "no he was talking to someone in the back". Yeah, I don't believe that one. I hope they go back to the old shop mindset of caring about customers. The guy up front could have just been having a bad day, but no reason to take it out on a customer who was willing to pay. read more

Wish I would've known about this place before I went to the "other" place where I got treated like pure garbage. The people here were very nice and the selection is great. I only spent about 4 minutes in here while waiting for a friend but I can't wait to spend a good chunk of my tax return in here upgrading my crappy stereo. James and his employees follow a simple business formula that has worked since cave men traded billy clubs. Here it is: 1. Treat your customers like humans 2. Carry high quality products 3. My car alarm had been going off randomly for months. I changed the batteries in my car fobs (which didnt fix the problem) and was told after that that I had to leave the car with a mechanic for a whole day and pay at least $250 for them to trouble shoot the problem. After reaching out to many mechanics around Flag, all saying the same thing, I came across Sounds Good and gave them a call. I explained the issue I was having and they told me to bring my car in and they'd take a look. So I brought my car to them and sure enough, within minutes, my car alarm started to go off as it was parked in their parking lot. The owner, took my keys and began to trouble shoot the issue. I did not have a custom alarm, so he said he may not be able to figure out the issue. But within an hour, he figured it out!! He showed me what the issue was and how he fixed it and what to keep an eye for and what to do if it happened again. (It was a bent sensor related to the hood of my car, which was bent by a mechanic months earlier as they worked on my car!) After bending it back up to where it should be, it fixed the issue. I was beyond ecstatic and sooo grateful to him for fixing it!! He didnt have to keep searching for the problem since I didnt have a custom alarm, but he did and he figured it out quickly. He is super knowledgeable and experienced and cares about his customers for sure!! He only charged me $50 to fix it, so he saved me hundreds had I done what all the mechanics told me to do (drop off my car and let them trouble shoot it.) This place is awesome! THANK YOU!! I just got a new sound system and needed it installed. I actually drove back to Flagstaff from Denver because I knew the job will get done by the best, no one's going to try to sell me on anything I don't need, and there's no unnecessary hidden cost that dont make sens. Making this commute to Sounds Good not only got me an amazing high quality install but it saved me over $1,000. I was quoted anywhere from $2,000 - $1,500 in Denver. After calling every 3 weeks and getting the run around for almost 6 months I went to another business and had it fixed in 2 days. prefer DECIBALS in Cottonwood..... has a super waiting area, full screen t.v and relaxing couches, near Walmart and more to do while you wait AND i think overall that the owner knows more what he is doing. I have heard some people here at Sounds Good getting some problems and/or confusing service, getting not what they had asked for and maybe the guy is too busy but in Cottonwood the person at Decibals, knows what he is doing. i suggest you make the drive down there and spend the day and get your work done there. i had some issues after Sounds Good did a minor thing for me and so i went to Cottonwood to get the rest of the job made right DECIBALS in Cottonwood charges less than Sounds Good Sounds Good is overworked a tiny waiting area that is more like a closet, he may be overbooking and has no receptionist or others helping him other than one person usually. read more

I originally left these guys a 5 star review. Unfortunately, I have no choice but to change my rating. Exactly one month after the warranty expired on the deck we purchased here last year, the deck failed. We called Sounds Good and got the run around. My husband finally convinced them to take the deck out and look at it, and as it turned out, it had blown a fuse and tried to catch fire. My husband convinced them to send it to the manufacturer, and they warned us that it could take 4-6 weeks for them to get it back. We asked if we could get a loaner deck to use while we waited, and they said they "don't do that, but [we] could buy a new one." Given how much money we've spent there in the last year, that was a RIDICULOUS response. After a lot of negotiating, husband convinced them to put an old, bare-bones deck out of storage and install it for us. Today, more than 8 weeks later, we have not heard anything regarding the deck we sent to the manufacturer. And now the "loaner deck" they put in for us is failing. My husband has called them a half dozen times over the last week. Each time he calls, it goes straight to voicemail. And no one ever calls back. To say I'm livid it an understatement. We now have a backup camera we can't use because the deck they recommended failed. The loaner deck we were given had no screen, so we still couldn't use the back up camera, and now the loaner deck has no sound and can currently only function as a clock. And no one at Sounds Good will answer the phone or return voicemail. I'm incredibly disappointed. We spent a lot of money here last year, and had every intention of having them install a remote start for us this winter. Now what? read more

Very good service and staff. James and Gilbert are the best! Had a custom fiberglass sub box w/Alpine 10" sub installed in my Prius to add to the JBL factory stereo. Bass is turned down to -3 on the factory eq and some songs still punch me in the back. They are also always willing to work with my schedule, and are able to take me to work after dropping the vehicle off, they then deliver it later withoiut me having to leave work. I look forward to the next project...adding an alarm system (with remote start of course) to the vehicle. read more

James and the crew at Sounds Good are awesome. They helped me with the install of my new head unit into my truck. It is a Ford Ranger Tremor Edition, so it came with factory installed Pioneer sound system, including amp, subwoofer, 6 disk changer head unit and all the bells and whistles. It was a fairly complicated install, cause I had them put a single DIN Sony head unit in, and kept all the other Pioneer parts. Had they not done it for me, I never would have gotten it to work. I then received a Viper remote start for my birthday, and had them install it. They did a very good job with it. They handled the "chip key" problem associated with newer Fords like pros. If I still lived in Flagstaff, they would be doing all my automotive sound and electronics installs for me. I now live in Minnesota, and need to find an auto stereo shop that I can trust as much as I can trust The gang at Sounds Good! read more
