Our dentist retired and sold his practice to Dr. Rodas. My husband and I gave him a chance but were disappointed. At a routine cleaning, Dr. Rodas suggested replacing some older fillings. They weren't bothering me, but I agreed to have two replaced. After doing so, I returned 3 weeks later complaining of pain. Dr. Rodas explained that one of the teeth NOW had a large crack. That could be causing the pain . He took photos and said "It might be time to talk about about getting a crown." I wondered if the crack formed while he replaced the fillings. I decided to get a second opinion. I chose Cabezon Dentistry for the second opinion. At that appointment I learned that the photos and x-rays Dr. Rodas sent over were unreadable. Despite the lack of records, Dr. Morrison examined the new fillings and COULD NOT FIND THE CRACK that Dr. Rodas photographed. In addition, he advised AGAINST getting a crown. Dr. Morrison said, "I don't recommend a crown for that tooth. It is a shallow filling. A crown tends to destroy the integrity of the tooth. Oftentimes a crown turns into a Root Canal a few years later." read more

Once ushered into the waiting room, I immediatly noticed the attention to patient comfort and (avoiding the temptation to insert a pun here) hygiene. That receives another star, since so much of any patient's time is spent in waiting rooms when visiting clinics for medical consultations. (So now we are up to three stars). Then comes the team of Samantha, whose smile alone exudes the continuation of that same mix of welcoming warmth and a kind of "don't worry, we will take care of you" attitude, followed by the earthly delightful Dr. Wu, whose confluence of Asian sublimity and Western dental best practices renders into a cliche the aphorism - "East is East and West is West, and never the twain shall meet." Dr. Wu is one of those professionals in the medical realm that all of us are 'dying to meet.' The efficiency and relaxing atmosphere that the combination of Samantha and Dr. Wu produce in the exam room is memorable. I would claim that they 'walk on water'..... but you would not believe me. Suffice it to say that they float in, deliver the goods, and then set you free to emerge, all anxieties gone, and looking forward to the next visit. In my case, I have already begun thinking that I need to dream up something wrong with my teeth just to have an excuse to come in for some exam of some kind. Augustine could very well have been a High Desert Dental patient when he made that statement about truth. The truth about High Desert Dental's practice, consistent with Augustine's message to us, is that the dentists and all the support staff, operating out of the HDD clinic, caring for all of us, are warm and welcoming people in addition to being consummate professionals. The dentistry being practiced at HDD defends itself against the risk of negative review by anyone! But don't simply take me word for it, switch from your current provider and you shall see. Beware! WORST CROWNS EVER! I have at least 6 other crowns with no problems. Dr. Oz put in two molar crowns in May 2023. Crowns were so poorly aligned and the bite so. off that I bit my tongue a lot. That hurt, but then my tongue got swollen - blocking my airway making it difficult to breathe, and making it difficult to close my jaw -so I could not swallow - so I was choking in my saliva. I required emergency dentistry in order to be able to breathe and to swallow. Unfortunately I had flown out of town 2 days after Dr. Oz the crowns in. While looking for solutions, two dentists told me not replace the crowns until the muscles in my jaw settled down (3 months) or the crowns would be misaligned again. Yet when I called Dr. Oz about these problems he said he could remove and replace the crowns right away. It is over 9 weeks since Dr. Oz put in the crowns, and I am out over $10,000 and still need to have the crowns replaced. I met with doctor Oz today to try to get some understanding how his crowns could have been so poor aligned. He said he they were properly aligned. I asked him what could have gone wrong with the design of the crowns - he said they were fine. I asked him several times if he understood that his crowns caused me to bite my tongue a lot and I never had the problem with any other crowns. He ignored me and told me several times it was best if I spoke with his lawyer. read more

I started having oral pain a couple of days ago and yesterday morning woke up with the left side of my face swollen. I called Dr Oz to see what steps I needed to take and unfortunately for me my insurance isn't accepted there and financially I can't afford it. He listened to me and was very comforting and understanding. He then gave me options and strongly recommended another Dr and place to try. I appreciate how fast he returned my call and impressed that he could understand my message since I was crying. I broke my temporary partial on a Sunday night and called Dr. Oz the next morning, he said that they were closed and that he would call me right back. Approximately 10 minutes later he called me and told me to come in. When I arrived I wasn't expecting that he had his entire Staff waiting to assist me.(who does that?) I really appreciated that! I received a flyer stating $99 for the exam, x-rays, and cleaning. The staff was courteous and professional. After the x-rays were taken, I was given a schpeel about how bad my teeth were. I'm an old trucker. In a matter of minutes, I was up to $3500. I asked for a proposal for the work that needed to be done. Then I asked for them to go ahead and clean my teeth, as stated in the flyer. The reply was, "It's not going to help" Now I felt pressured and somewhat uncomfortable. It seems they don't want to clean my teeth now that I'm not spending thousands of dollars--bait & Switch tactics. Now I'm in front of the receptionist looking at a bill for $128 with no cleaning done. I asked for some kind of discount as was stated and not fulfilled. I paid and left very frustrated. read more

Dr Gary Ross is the worst, most corrupt, sadistic dentist around. I went to him years ago because a dental sealant fell off my tooth. He proceeded to use my fear of dentists to his advantage. He sedated me with halcion. Then proceeded to tell me every tooth in my mouth had cavities. Using his "high tech" laser. Which btw I had no cavities at the time and an x ray would have shown that. He then fixed 3 molars when my husband realized he was full of crap and told him to stop. He was trying to do my entire mouth. I have since been to many dentists who have all confirmed my teeth are fine. Dental exams every 6 months since the wacko touched my mouth. Never had a problem with any tooth since. Now I have those 3 white fillings to remind me what a hack he is. Every time I drive by his new building I wonder what part of it I paid for? If you look at the New Mexico Dental boards you will see he has disciplinary action on his license for similar issues. I.e. Abuse of patients, false diagnosis and financial corruption. Steer clear of this dentist. He is evil!!!!!! This man should have his license stripped away! read more

Very unethical place. Went in for an implant and was quoted $3,200 for everything. After extracting a tooth and performing a graft procedure and paying $3,000 I was told to come back in 6-9 months. When I came back for the implant I was told I would have to pay an additional $3,400. I told them I only owed $200 and was told the employee that had given me the $3,200 quote did that a lot and no longer worked there. I left and to this date still have no implant. I have been a patient of Gary Ross for over a year now , he is NOT the best dentist in town and certainly NOT the least expensive.His office has some of the most aggressive billing practices around .I had agreed to a total bill of $14000 for 3 implants and crowns, the actual estimate was $13858.at the start of the treatment.When almost a year later the final crown was installed,Gary tacked another $3500 to the bill as i was about to leave and had thought that the treatment was completed. Apparently Dr Ross has a habit of overcharging his patients, every time you open your mouth on his chair he sees another couple of thousand inside your mouth and will proceed to extract these.He has been censored by the board of Dentistry but continues this malpractice.His advertising claims implants for $1250 ea, this is a highly misleading number,as the final costs are really around $5000 after his addons and crown.Here is another warning sign about this mans practice, he has over 10 booths in his office so one would assume several dentist could be working there.Not so , he has assistants do most of the work, comes in for a few minutes and moves on to the next patient.Unethical,scam biller and gross overcharger are some of the adjectives for this operation. read more
