Sweet white curly haired sweetheart with red bandanna and red and white bow comfortably placed on head. Cutie pie walked in and allowed me to pet her and then walked back to her bed. I wasn't nervous but I love dogs and loved Yuki who is the fur baby of other dentist. I highly recommend this practice and Dr Herman and the two expert dental assistants who have helped me: Selena and Kathy. I really enjoyed Yuki Therapy Dog !!! Thank you. Although the dentists in the South Austin office are top-notch, they influence the office staff, and I am not too happy about that office. It seems that overcharging patients is normal here. In addition to the 3% for services billed using a patient's credit card, surprise bills are also possible. My health insurance often informs me before About Smiles does. Tiggy charged my card. I specifically asked her if I could alter my payment if I came back in soon. Yes, I was given that option. I returned later with a plan to use a debit card with NO 3% upcharge. Tiggy was busy so Peggy took my second transaction, I asked her if it was difficult, and she replied it was. BooHoo--BTW, Peggy seems like a candidate who does not work with patients much or at all. I apologized to Peggy. I WAS given the option to pay in another form, So I was there to pay with a debit card. Peggy billed the services as credit! Not as debit. Excuse me!! Yes, my appointment was from 10-11, but it got started at 10:50 The teeth whitening was one of the most excruciating pain I've ever felt. I was actually wondering if it was suppose to feel like torture. Apparently, my mouth guard wasn't in place and while I was left to my own device, I was also suffering away as my gums burned and burned. I wish someone, anyone had just preface - that BURNING is not normal. I was almost in tears by the time I jump out of my seat and nearly ripped off the mouth guard, and whimpering before the tech came to check on me. My bottom gums were all either bleached white or burned. Invisalign is a huge investment - my invoice 7k or over from Swish and I really think that your local dentist could do it for cheaper (the discounts/deal isn't great bc they have such a high mark up), and you probably won't be tortured and left with WHITE GUMS after a simple whitening.

We don't have endless time to sit around. Came in for a crown replacement and literally sat in the dentist chair for 30 minutes waiting for numbing to take effect. They said dentist got caught up doing something else (which I thought meant like 5 minutes) and didn't show up for another 25 minutes! Before proceeding with the operation Service really needs to improve. People have lives and can't just sit around waiting all day.

The cost for that treatment plan…read morewas over $6k, and I left their office in complete shock (never having or needing a crown before). I went to Dr. Annalisa Heck for a second opinion. Dr. Heck told me I just needed old fillings replaced, and the treatment plan will cost me under $2k. I encourage anyone to a) get a second opinion always and b) see Dr. Heck! She is honest, and caring and kind and personable. I look forward to have my treatment plan done by her and I despise the dentist! Also, the office is comfortable and quiet which is the complete opposite of the other office I visited which was loud and chaotic.

They were…read moreso kind and attentive and during the appointment and actually suggested a different care plan than my prior dentist. The new plan was a healthier more cautious route as well as more cost effective. They have a "calming menu" where you can request a blanket, headphones, warm neck pillow, etc. for more comfort and dental anxiety which I think we all can agree that we all get! Definitely recommend!
