I've been to many tea houses, both in NJ and in London, and this is by far the worst one I've encountered. My friend and I ordered the High Tea to share, not knowing that the portions are extremely tiny. The word "morsel" adequately describes the sandwiches, the sweets, and the plated dessert. It would have been nice if our server had mentioned that the portions were not meant for sharing when we ordered. Most servers, in my experience, do this when you clearly state you will be sharing. My pot of tea arrived extremely oversteeped, to the point of being bitter and undrinkable. When I asked for a new pot and explained why, the server gave me a LOOK like I had insulted her. She brought me a fresh (and better brewed) pot, but she didn't ceremoniously pour the tea for me the way she did the first time. The clotted cream isn't clotted cream; it's just whipped cream. There's a huge difference, and I was disappointed to discover this was falsely advertised since I love clotted cream and it's hard to find stateside. The scones tasted mainly of raw flour and not much else. The little sandwiches were actually delicious, so it was a real shame they weren't served in larger portions. The apricot thumbprint cookie was completely flat and greasy, as all the butter had seeped out of it while baking. I thought that cookie was the saddest thing I'd ever seen, but then out came the "plated dessert." It was a strawberry crumble or cobbler; it was so pale and mushy that it was hard to tell what it actually was. My friend and I each took a small bite and discovered it was gummy, gluey, and not fully baked. I'm shocked that this place has the chutzpah to charge $30 for the meager and mediocre fare they call "high tea." My friend and I did share our disappointment and a few of the above problems with the person ringing up our bill, and she seemed surprised to hear that we had a bad experience. She did tell us that their portions aren't meant to share, and when I pointed out that it would have been helpful for the server to mention that when we ordered, all she said was "Oh." and proceeded to ring us up without any kind of concern or remorse for the bad customer experience. This is a "niche" restaurant that is adorable and has very sweet staff. The tea list is expansive and thankfully they had iced teas available on their summer menu. My friends had been there previously so they walked me through the menu, we chose the queens tea menu which included quiche and soup or salad ( I can't have eggs, so the soup which was delicious and the salad which was just ok were my choices), scones (caramel was delicious the island one was flat) and savory sandwiches (very good). Be prepared for tiny dollhouse portions, for $30 a person I thought was a bit high. The lime tart, brownie and shortbread were also great and I love how everything is made in house. I am a high tea connoisseur & host extremely high end afternoon teas at my own home in addition to having had high tea at the Langham, the London hotel who was the first to serve high tea as well as at the Plaza Hotel, Le Meurice and many other hotels around the world. I can say with all honesty High SocieTea does an excellent job with their afternoon tea. They must have a very good chef because all the dishes we tried were excellent. Made a Yelp account specifically to praise this place. I ran a 30+ party for a sorority anniversary here with quite a packed room and with some people who had food intolerances. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive, and communicated with me as the host perfectly what they needed in terms of kitchen time, when courses would come out, etc. The food and tea was absolutely delicious. I was beyond amazed by the service. I was even more frankly astonished when I went to pay my bill, and they gave me the extras from some of the no-show members with instructions! This place is super adorable! The atmosphere they have is very cozy, clean and inviting. I really enjoyed myself and can't wait to go back with friends in December. The food: I had a royal high tea which consisted of a pot of tea, 2 scones, 6 finger sandwiches, and three desserts. All of which were tasty but the scones could be a bit larger. The tea selection was fantastic and the tea I had was Aunties Pie which tasted like apple pie. The service: Everyone was super friendly, well informed and nice. However my tea came out first and my tea service didn't come out all at once. Generally all three tiers are served at once. I received my scones first then a while later the sandwiches and desserts came out. The tea pot comes covered in a tea pot cozy which was adorable and kept my tea hot the entire meal. The tea I had was delicious! They offered cream and lemon curd spread for your scones which is standard. Decor/Etc: They had seasonal fall decor mixed in with the regular decor and it worked in making the whole place feel cozy. The tables were all clean and well maintained. Also like most places they have offer to go options in the front and also sell tea items, decorating items, soap/bath items and jewelry. I really liked the atmosphere of this tea house. I visited here in December with my 3 daughters. Tea and scones delicious but I was extremely disappointed when I was served boxed cookies and desserts. This was not at all what we were expecting, especially doing research on it before we made our reservation. Shame on you!! I was here yesterday with a group of 18 other ladies from my Herb Society. This place is warm and charming. Each individual teapot wrapped in an adorable cosy contains a different tea chosen from their amazing assortment of black, green, and Rooibos selections. I particularly liked Thunderstorm which was green tea, coconut, spearmint, and lime. I bought a packet for my own use. The tomato basil soup was wonderful. Very fresh. Starting with a couple of visits and having dinner, to booking, planning, and finally holding the shower; my experience with everything was wonderful. The owner, management, and everyone on staff are kind, friendly, professional, and accommodating-especially when we had guests with dietary needs. The House is warmand inviting, with seasonal decorations all around. Beautiful place settings and china truly make you feel like you're having a Royal tea. The tea selection is plentiful with classics and deliciously unique choices. Having the Hawaii tea served as iced tea was a great recommendation. We had the Queen's Tea at the bridal shower. We chose the broccoli cheddar quiche, carrot ginger soup, and added the chicken pot pie soup course (the teapot shaped puff pastry on top was a whimsical plus). The bride-to-be loved the chicken pot pie and scones with fresh clotted cream and lemon curd. We loved the choice to have seasonal selections (apple cobbler, pumpkin scones) and one of my favorite savory bites was a last minute recommendation, whipped honey ricotta over biscotti. First time having High Tea outside in awhile since a London trip in 2019. My friend and I have been looking to try local high tea places. What a cute and cozy little spot! In the entrance hall you see many trinkets and girly gifts for sale that were super cute, and of course bags of tea. You are seated at the cutest tables and the decor is that cozy old time look but damn cute. This is great for a get- together, bridal, birthday, whatever, but gentleman, don't be deterred, I know you will enjoy your high tea experience here as well. The tomato bisque with quiche was delicious. I needed that savory bite in the beginning. The finger foods (so many too name but delicious) and the tea we chose was the Strawberries and Cream tea. It was so good we bought a small bag of it each to take home. Social distancing is adequate here and it was very clean for covid measures. The service was great. The tea pastries were petite and flavorful. Lemon curd was good. My only issue was the cream: it was but Devonshire clotted cream but heavy whipped cream... that's the only English element missing in the table spread and a major one. Yesterday a friend took me back here after 10 years. Back then it was good. The only reason I'm giving it 2 is because of the tea and sweets. The salad is very tiny, and the Broccoli Quiche was tasteless, small and dry. The savories nothing to brag about. There were also 2 loud tables, so you couldn't even have a conversation with the people you were with without yelling. Upon checking out it was a mad house, the young girl at the register was totally overwhelmed. Someone left there credit card and she was yelling "who left there credit card". No Management seemed to be around. I will never come back to this place, management please take control of your business. read more

I have been to this tea place a few times and even had a bridal shower there for my best friend. Recently went there... Service was a little rough (short staffed), and staff was a little frazzley. Our tea was absolutely amazing, soup and quiche great, savories good too....then When we asked about our "plated dessert".. I was told that they ran out of two choices on the menu and they had blueberry cobbler. They said most people take it to go so we said sure we can do that.. That little cup was what we were handed! Up until that point everything was great... They shouldn't advertise/charge for a plated dessert if they are not going to provide one. The bill for the Queen's tea for two people was a bit expensive... In the past the quality has been amazing but today was very lackluster and after receiving that little cup of dessert I was definitely put off. Because this Cafe is always busy you need to book two weeks in advance. My Meetup Group arrived on a Sunday afternoon and we decided we were all going to wear hats. There were six of us and each of us ordered from the price fix menu of different teas. I found the atmosphere charming and quite Victorian. As a chef I'm very critical and found the scones And the large variety of "teas" quite delicious. However, the Pumpkin Quiche was unsatisfactiory. It did not have a creamy or cheesy texture but more like the texture of baked scrambled eggs. Also I was unhappy with the serving size of the Salad. It was presented in a "doll size" glass custard cup and had just three tiny leaves of spinach sprinkled with some nuts and dressing. Quite disappointing . However the rest of the lunch was pleasing and my group enjoyed it. FYI: There are no Meats on the menu and mostly carbohydrates. Not really fitting for anything more than a lunch as there are no entrees. read more

I'm a huge fan of afternoon teas and make it a habit to try them, this is by far my favorite on many levels. Great ambience (so cozy and cute, love the fireplace!), the food is actually TASTY, the scones are warm, there is a HUGE variety of high quality tea, and unlike some other places, you're not JUST paying for the "experience" here, it's actually a great value. I've done the fancy (and not-so-fancy) afternoon teas in NYC, and it's not a huge generalization to say that you pay for the "experience." Neither the food nor the tea are stellar (or at least not up to par with the price). You're really paying to sit in a pretty/lovely room and enjoy some gab time with lady friends with no rush or pressure from the staff. While you still get that "experience" at High Societea, I definitely felt like I also got great tea, food, and friendly service. I love that they have a changing menu the reflects what's locally and seasonally available. We had a slight mix-up over the reservation but the hostess was very accommodating and was able to move us back 30 minutes. We were only the 3rd group there at 11:30 on Saturday but it was quite full by the time we left around 1pm. I had the Queen's Tea and both my mom and sister got the Princess Tea. It was definitely a lot of food. We took 2 of our scones and all the plated desserts (3 servings, one for each of us) to go. They have seasonal house-blended teas, I loved my winter tea (Snowflake?) and bought some loose to take home. They also have a gift store area near the entrance with lots of cute tea accessories and nifty gift items. I would definitely recommend a reservation. My one suggestion would be that I wish they had some sort of email or online reservation system. I would prefer a confirmation and/or other more convenient way of making a reservation. read more

Fabulous. Great service from Nicole. My gf and I both had the Queen. It's the perfect menu if you want to try everything. It comes with soup or salad with a side of quiche. Then two scones. Next you get an assortment of finger sandwiches and dessert. Lastly, you complete the experience with an apple cobbler. It doesn't look like much but it's very filling. We were so full. We also tried three teas. Lemon Souffle, green tea with apricot and peach and Raspberry brulee. All very good. Really cute tea house. When you walk in, there is a full gift shop with plenty of products at reasonable prices. My favorite foods were definitely the caramel scone (with the clotted cream), the peach cobbler with fresh homemade whipped cream and the chicken apple finger sandwich. For tea, I had the Hawaiian iced tea infused with vanilla. It tasted like melted sherbet and was great on a really hot day. The wait staff was also very friendly, which is always appreciated! Feeling the need to reconnect with your daintier side? This is the place to go. We were just dressed casually but another party had a hat party which looked quite festive and fun. Do make reservation - were there on Sat afternoon and they were always almost full. I am not a big tea person so I'll spare you my amateurish comments. Most of us ordered the high tea, but I opted for the Princess tea. The scones... Oh the scones. I never liked scones before but now I am converted. They came out warm and quite crumbly (just the right amount so you can still be proper). Goes perfectly with your tea. I'll come back for that. The savories were bite sizes - enough for a taste. The spinach ball is an interesting concept, and the Parmesan bread (I am sure it wasn't supposed to be called that during high tea time but that's the closest analogy) was a yummy break from all the sweets. I didn't get the other sweets and dessert so wasn't stuffed but was comfortably filled. I think it's a good venue for baby shower or bridal shower... In this house-turned-tea room, I had a lovely, unforgettable experience with my closest friends and family. We came here for my bridal shower and I'm already planning my next visit. This place is nothing short of charming, mismatching tea cups and all. It was all so mesmerizingly lovely, like a page right out of Alice in Wonderland (one of my all-time faves, hence my family's decision to BOOK this place - oh, a pun). Unsurprisingly, the tea was phenomenal. My favorite was the Hawaiian, which we got iced because it was literally over 100 degrees outside. The food was also really good. I can't remember everything we had, but the caramel scones were a true stand out and my absolute favorite thing on our menu. Sooooo incredible. The quiche was also yummy. I'm not big on desserts/sweets usually, but they were adorable (chocolate mousse inside a chocolate tea cup - awww) and tasty. The staff was above par, so polite and accommodating.
