Surprisingly, a great spot on the beach! Was having a little Halloween staycay for a show and did lunch here as a treat for my cousin's bday. Most of the food and drink we had was really good. My snapper sandwich was a real nice size and went well with the side salad. Mezze platter was good though I would probably only do it for two people instead of three. One of three spreads we barely touched, we all thought it was a little funky. The guac and orange hummus tho we demolished. Great outdoor vibe, music was also great and our server was pretty cool. Only thing I'll call out was that I made a reservation, there was no actual hosting stand, and when I told the girl working here I had one she kinda looked me like I was cray. The restaurant was empty so it didn't matter, but if you're gonna have it on OpenTable then honor/make use of it. Would suck to come, have it be full, and not have the reservation you placed honored. Loved the ambience. Rented a cabana and had Thomas as our server. He was very helpful over there. The food was very good. We ordered the nachos riviera, French drummettes, fruit skewers as appetizers. The fruit was sweet! Then we added a couple of Mata Hari's, smash burger and the Lobster roll. Everything tasted pretty good. I didn't particularly like the nachos. The green sauce taste was not what I expected but everyone else liked them. I "checked in" and got a free mojito!!! Kimpton Surfcombers outside restaurant and bar has a complete dining area of tables, and a bar but also caters to you poolside as well as on the beach. While the bar and grill is formally located in back of the pool they do also have a small stand in front of the pool where you can get drinks. Arriving at my chair it was already outfitted with a towel and menu. Lounging by the poor (or more accurately, roasting like a chicken in an oven by the pool) an ice cold beverage was desperatley needed. Servers came around often to fulfill request. I never went to the beach in the daytime so I can not say what service was like on that end. My friend got a frozen Margharita and I got something I can't remember the name of but it was made with Coco Lopez and that's always a winner for me. High Tide is the outside bar & grill at the Kimpton Surfcomber hotel. It's located behind the pool and is accessible by the walkway to the beach. High Tide has a full bar and tables to dine. You don't have to be a hotel guest to visit High Tide. They have servers that take care of the hotel guests by the pool. During our stay at the Kimpton, we dined outside by the bar as well as ordered from the servers as we did nothing by the pool all day. The High Tide staff did well through it all. I ordered their Cheeseburger for a late breakfast one day. It was tasty, fresh and they were generous with the cheese. Salads ordered as well and the veggies were all crisp. All was well. We ordered their Vodka berry cocktail. ( I forgot the name) Our server suggested just making it a pitcher for better value and he was absolutely correct! Game recognized game as he knew we were drinking by the pool all day. He checked on us frequently and kept our waters and napkins fresh throughout the day. My husband and I stayed at the Surfcomber for an extended weekend, and I'm pretty sure we hit High Tide every day of our stay. The whole vibe of High Tide is awesome - a covered bar, but all open air, and then completely open seating all scattered around, with a ton of tables and high tops available. On our first visit to High Tide (which prompted all our return visits), we had Mike as our server, who I cannot speak more highly about. Mike was friendly, professional, and we quickly realized was serving and bartending, along with Jesus. Despite it being really crowded on a Saturday, and just the two of them there, there was never a time that our water glasses weren't filled, or Mike was over checking up on us (with Jesus making the rounds as well). We ordered (which would come to be our signature order for the four days there) the Black Crush, which had the primary ingredient of lots of alcohol (vodka, lime, blackberries, and sparkling wine). At $14/drink, Mike advised that if we were planning to have more than one, we should double up and for $20 we would get a bigger drink (and stronger). Since we were on vacation and looking to get a slight buzz, we went for the doubled up option, which was a good call on our parts. The drink is delicious - light, fresh, and really unique. They did a perfect job mixing, and the danger was in the fact that it went down tooooo easily. Jesus also came around at certain points with shots that he had whipped up for those seated (we had a frozen mango one that was SO good, and I am not a shot girl). It was a really nice treat To soak up some of the booze, we also ordered food. I got a kale Caesar salad that came with huge pieces of "crouton" pita (it was delicious, and I'm such a sucker for a kale Caesar), and my husband ordered the Cubano (with yucca fries) at the recommendation of Mike. Everything was fresh and delicious, and the menu had a wide variety of options so that everyone could find something to eat. Prices on food were also excellent considering the portion sizes, so we were thrilled. During our time there, we also ordered the fish tacos (so fresh and absolutely delicious), the roasted sesame wings, and the fried chicken sandwich. Again, everything was delicious and so fresh - not at all what you'd expect from your average beach bar. Gratuity (19%) is commonly built in at most places in Miami, however we tipped on top of it because the service was so tremendous and we were really taken care of. Something to definitely be aware of though, not just here, but all over South Beach. Note: The beach has an app where you can order drinks or food from High Tide and have it delivered to your seat - we found that for just drinks, it was easier to just walk to the pool bar and get to go cups, then head back. We ordered two double Black Crush's while down at the beach via the app and ended up spending $60 - that was a one and done decision on our ends, and what you pay for convenience! We genuinely can't wait to come back to the Surfcomber and post up at High Tide - biggest thanks to Mike and Jesus for making our time there so amazing. Our only complaint about High Tide is that it's not open later - we would've been there all night! read more

We walked by here today, looked at the menu and decided to have lunch. I got the grouper tacos based on our server's recommendation and they were great! My hubby got the black bean burger and he enjoyed that too. The food came out pretty quickly and was great but it took us a while to get the can of beer we ordered...we had to flag down our server and remind her! Seemed she was slow with the other tables too based on their actions/comments we could see/hear. She also took our credit card right when we ordered which was very weird and has NEVER happened to us before...and then we had to flag her down for our bill. My friends and I got a Jasmine cabana here. The cabana did not have a view of the pool. We had a $350 food and drink minimum. The food was awful. Everything was cold. I had the shrimp tacos, would not recommend. Someone also had the empanadas, pulled pork, and burger. I think the burger and fries is the only thing that was decent. I also ordered what I thought was queso (like the menu says) but it was just basically cheese whiz. Just awful. Some of our drinks didn't have any alcohol in them and some of them were way too strong to enjoy. The place is pretty but it was not worth what we paid; at all. Second time we have visited for their nice happy hour 3-5pm Monday through Thursday. Really like their hang out areas with couches in the sand, games to play and right on the boardwalk. Great chicken wings for $1 each, yucca fries, fish tacos ($3 each) and $6 drinks. BEWARE: our bartender put an automatic 19% gratuity on the multiple tabs we had in our group and didn't bother to tell us because he quoted us verbally the price to pay and then was silent when we proceeded to tip him another 15%-20%.
