The ashes were given to a family member who took off with them so there can not even be a graveside burial service. This has been greatly distressing for the entire family. What can you say when people call and ask about the funeral and obituary that never happened? We have decided to go to a church and have a memorial service a month after her death at our own expense. The purpose of pre-paying for a funeral is to relieve your loved ones from trauma and distress.

Earliest I can remember is burying a high school friend and most recently we buried my father in law here. The grounds and plots are on top of each other. Not much greenery our pretty scenery surrounds it. Being next to the expressway makes for lots of noise and debris. During my father in laws it was very hard to here the service as he is pretty close to the Snyder expressway ramp. The grounds does have a couple cool sculptures on the road way including one of a Bible verse. Overall, it is a solid spot. Not very cemetery can be high end and if I had to guess the cemetery may have been there before the expressway. I could be wrong though. Either way it's a boise factor and logistical nightmare. At my high school friends funeral there literally was a wreck and at my father I. Laws a person barreling off the exit almost wrecked into us. So it was almost 2 for 2 on accidents in funeral processions I've attended here.

After 16 years of a carefree, opulent life, my "fur baby" passed. Because this happened early on a…read moreSunday morning, I thought I would need to wait until Monday before taking her anywhere. We decided against burying her in our backyard because we didn't want any wild animals to dig her up (my heart, soul, or psyche would not have been able to survive that). We called a few places around town to get prices of pet cremation and any other associated services. The man who answered the phone was kind, understanding and soothingly efficient. His already soothing voice became much more empathetic when he found out that I had just lost my pet. He gave me their prices and explained exactly what those cost included. They have different prices based upon how you want the cremation to occur and then upon the weight of the animal. They offer 3 levels of cremation: individual, double and group. Plus, depending upon the level you choose, their prices include a framable certificate, a marvelous, decorative, wooden box for ash storage and memorial display. The individual and double cremation options offer the certificate of authenticity, which states that the ashes that you received are actually from YOUR pet and not from someone else's. In addition, at no extra charge they will ink the paws and nose to put those prints on the certificate. I was completely satisfied with the tentative services and the expected outcome. Once we took my pet to their location, one man received her while another man (Chris) took our information. Although, the man that I talked to earlier on the phone took my information and noted that I wanted the nose and paw prints, Chris did not ask about that service nor did I remember to state it. In my grief-stricken, cloudy mind, I assumed that the information from the earlier phone call would be linked to this intake information. I didn't realize that little omission would return to haunt me. A few days passed and they called to say that my pet was ready for pickup. Quite somberly, I was actually able to drive to get her (I wasn't sure I would be able to do that). A lady greeted me immediately, and ushered me to follow her to the office. There I received a nicely paw-printed recyclable paper bag with a beautiful wooden box and a certificate of authenticity inside the bag. The presentation was really nice. Imagine my hurt when I looked at the certificate and saw no nose or paw prints. When I asked about the omission, the lady told me that she would check to see what happened. After a few minutes, she returned to tell me that they were unable to get any prints from my pet. Her body language was different as she told me this information and I got the impression that she was not telling me the truth. Especially because I know the position that my dog's legs and face were in. Her paws were straight and flat and her nose was big and black. The only way that they couldn't get the ink was if they didn't know to try. While I realize and accept that this was a miscommunication, I would rather have been told the candid truth and not a "canned response" to appease a grieving person. Other than this, I was really pleased with everything else.

Owen handled my father's funeral last month and they were very warm and professional to work with…read more The minister talked to me and my children before the service throughout the morning to learn more about my father and using the things we told him he made an excellent funeral service and we were able to remember the many funny times we had with dad. I told him also about this song my dad always sang being silly "You'll never find..." and the minister knew right away that it was Lou Rawls. A while later they found me in the visitation and he called me to his office and he wanted to play the song for me. He had it on hand! He asked me if I wanted him to play it while we were exiting the service and I said yes! It was perfect. He even made me a copy of it to take home with me. These folks are wonderful. They also handled my grandmother's death in 2012 and I remember them being excellent then as well.

Yvonne was my funeral director handling every detail for my mother's service recently. She provided excellent customer service, helping me with all the minute details such as: - coordinating all details of the transportation of the body from PA to KY with PA funeral home - death certificates - obituary notice - visitation service - funeral service (every last detail including music/picture video/coordination of gathering at a restaurant afterwards) - burial and coordination with cemetery I cannot say enough good things about Yvonne and the staff at Owen Funeral Home. It does make a difference that they're family owned and operated. And, I might add, my mother's preparations were all handled via phone and email as I lived out of state. Again, every aspect was handled with care and respect to both my deceased parents and to my family. And, we are so very thankful for this during a stressful time.

So many things have changed because of the Covid-19 Pandemic and one of them is how some funeral…read moreservices are handled. My wife lost one of her Aunts. She was a beautiful alert lady who lived to be 101. When her family told us about the arrangements for her service we were surprised to hear they were going to have a "drive-by" service. We had no idea what to expect as were drove in the parking lot and saw a short line off cars going past the front of the building with the family all standing outside. As we approached the family greeted us, all wearing masks and social distancing. They opened two large glass doors for us to get a clear view of the open casket. We exchanged words with the family and then drove off. It was clearly one of the most unusual services we've ever attended and certainly not like any previous ones we've attended.

After bad experiences and poor communication with two well-known "chain" funeral homes in town, a last-minute web search sent us to Fern Creek Funeral Home and although this was a first for me (having to help plan a visitation and memorial service) I can say that the staff went above and beyond to make the experience special. Gayle and Sarah were honest, tender and patient, plus they made themselves available and helped ease and absorb some stress from our grieving family. Additionally, the facility itself was clean, spacious and provided just what we needed as a space to honor the man we lost. It feels odd writing a review for a service that needed at such a messy time, but for that reason, I felt compelled to share that they were exceptional and came through for our family in need. After reading the articles about their recent open house I decided it was appropriate to give them acknowledgement on YELP. A number of years ago we became a client of theirs. Our family was steered to this particular business through the contacts and friends at our local church. Without the guidance of friends we would have had no idea which of the local funeral homes to turn to. The pros: Other than choosing a cemetery Shannon's capably handled all the other details involved in the death of our loved one. (Casket, obituary both local and out of state, guest book, the service, the burial procession, etc.) The facility offers a wide variety of room sizes to hold the service in (small intimate, mid size with adjoining room capability, and larger chapel). All stairs into the facility have hand rails and the structure met the needs of physically disabled attendees. The facility is light and airy. There is both on street parking and a lot in the back. The cons: I've been told they are more expensive than other places but I have no personal knowledge to confirm this (It was not an issue when we used their service) When the need arises we would most likely use this facility again.
