They gave me a date, showed up on time, completed the work quickly, cleaned up and were gone. I received multiple bids and Highland Park Electric was extremely competitive, a couple of bids were a thousand dollars more.......???? The staff at Highland Park Electric office were very friendly and even the owner stepped out of his office to say hello when I stopped by to get paperwork. Adam the installer was very polite and worked quickly to do the installation, no wasted effort to run up the bill. The actual work done was fine. They came to install a doorbell, it was $307 total. The receptionist was rude whenever I called (about 3-4 times). They overcharged me on my invoice. Their price per hour was listed $20 cheaper on their website so I called in about it when I received a much higher bill than expected. The receptionist argued it but I pushed back. She said she'd have to talk to the owners and get back to me. And she did, and they agreed to drop the price on my invoice. Two weeks later I get an invoice and not only is it for the original price but they added on a $7 convenience fee! Whatever...not worth arguing again but 3 stars, and I wouldn't recommend them. read more

We found this company here on yelp. We hired them to change out a few light fixtures in our home and fix some things. All in all, a good experience. Good, quality installations, but a little slow. More parts should be carried on hand, because there were several runs to the truck outside, which can run up the clock. Only other suggestion is if you want the parts they're removing (wall plates, switches, whatever), tell them, otherwise they end up missing. They had a good selection of parts on hand (on the truck), but if you want to save money & time, I'd suggest buying all the parts you need before hand at a home improvement store, if you are knowledgeable. They did quality work and we are pleased. Thank you, but probably will go with a different company next time. The time estimate was pretty accurate. read more

We used HPE for installing a new generator. They were fantastic. We looked at ABT and others but HPE did a great job. They also came back when we had a problem a year later and took care of it quickly and efficiently. I would definitely use them again. read more

It appears as though one either loves Jan or hates Jan. I had HP Electric/GEN-x install a guardian for the house. Cheap? No. Professional and worry free job? Yes. Oh, and then there was the time I needed emergency service during an area wide demand and he made us a priority and hustled a man out here. That was nice. So here is the bottom line. If you are looking for your friends electrician buddy to install your lights, maybe you can be happy with another option. If you have real electrician needs, panels, three phase, generators, professionals and you understand you pay a professional, then I'm sure you'll feel great about your experience. read more

We have used them for years. They are impeccably honest (as are the sister co's). This is how much I love them... We were having an addition done & the contractor would only use their sub (project continuity, design savings blah blah) so we gave in. Barely 1/2 way into the electrical they'd stop showing up, come for a couple hrs & leave, parts on back order blah blah. I said if they didn't use HP Electric we'd walk & find someone to finish the house. HP finished it in less time for less money. When something needs to be done, they can come when I'm not here & leave a bill for whatever it cost. I TRUST them & LOVE this company. read more

Highland Park Electric has the WORST customer service, as well as icky, unsafe electrical work. In March, they did some work on my home. 4 months later, in July, I had water leaking from the electrical casing that they installed. Very unsafe, as water should not be inside the electrical casing in my basement. I called them to fix it, and they want to charge me a service fee to come out, and let me know if it was their mistake!! I would rather pay the $90 service fee to a REPUTABLE electrician. CLEARLY, the leaking water is from their shoddy work, which they refuse to take responsibility! THE WORST read more

If I could give this company zero starts I would. They are completely dishonest and incompetent. I called them ahead of time too see if they could replace my intercom system. They claimed they were very familiar with the brand I had. When the technician came out, I sensed that he was not familiar with the system. I did not hear from them and I had to follow up with them for a quote. That should have been a red flag there. Then, they claimed that were waiting for the manufacturer to call back. A few days later, they asked me for my model number. I couldn't believe it! They were completely lying and were incompetent. I ended up doing the legwork and calling the manufacturer myself. At this point, I did not want to deal with HP Electric. Of course they sent me a bill of $77.50 just for coming out to my place. Basically, they will charge a service fee and show that they don't know what they are doing so you will not go with them. read more
