The karaoke scene isn't usually where you'll find me-and if you heard me singing, you'd be grateful that I don't grace the stage often. But when I was invited to check it out with someone who actually can carry a tune, I was happy to go along. This is a dark, sort of divey place and it's a popular local hangout. Early in the evening, it was kind of quiet, but it got much busier as the night went on-and once karaoke really got going, the place was hopping. The crowd was generally supportive of each other-whether the performance was good or not-and the KJ kept things moving along with a good variety of song styles. He even inserted himself into the mix a few times and sang from the song booth. Service is friendly, although the servers don't come around frequently, so you might have better luck going to the bar to get a drink. But what they lack in speed they make up for in friendliness-everyone is welcome and it's a fun place to hang out and let loose a bit. read more

I've gone here a couple times now for their all week karaoke! Definitely a vibe, gets busy on the weekends but even a Thursday night there is a decent crowd. The host and workers will sing their hearts out and it's so fun. They do lots of heavy metal and some screamo here but it's all part of the ride. Pool tables add to the ambiance as well. read more

Karaoke EVERY night of the week. It's a total dive bar with locals getting wasted. The crowd can be fun but know there's gonna be some aggressive singles on the prowl! I hadn't been in 10-ish years, and the staff changed but same karaoke VJ. It's one of the few places in UT you can get a decent drink. Bartenders are kinda slow & not super friendly, but they're busy & dealing with a loud unruly crowd (& have to hear bad singers!) so I don't blame them for seeming irritated at times. I made this account to leave this review because of how bad my experience has been multiple times. The bar is cute and the karaoke is fun but the service is HORRIBLE. It's near impossible to get a drink from the bar on a Saturday night because the bartenders are too busy talking with each other. One named Bill is extremely rude and I've heard him yell at people multiple times. They tried to charge my friend for a CUP of water.I will not be coming back now sadly. Get better bartenders unless you hate making money. read more

Loved doing Karaoke there! I think it was the first divey bar hubs and I have been to since kids and we loved it! Pool tables available! Little stage for karaoke singers lol The Dj that night was awesome! The bar tenders were nice and friendly! When it does get busy its a bit hard to get their attention to order food, but other than that it felt like it was a community there. Like they have regulars and people make you feel welcome. We showed up with a large group, and no warning on a weeknight for karaoke (oops.... sorry...). The bartender and cocktail waitress were both like "there's only two of us, so please be patient". I love me some "Real People" karaoke. I sing more than my sweet bride does but that's because she's more bashful than I am. Anyplace where people really genuinely encourage each other, no matter how poorly the song was covered, I'm all in. This is that place. They have karaoke 7 nights a week apparently. We went on a Friday night. It was great fun doing the Sweet Caroline with everyone, even though it was our first time there. The crowd was awesome and very diverse. ALL genres of music were covered and respected. We had some really decent fish and chips. Prices are not crazy (very affordable). And they had alcohol- free beer for us obstainers. My wife had her usual Diet Coke on the rocks. We stayed all night. If you're looking for fun and a great environment, here's the place you need to try. We will be going back. read more

This bar employment now actually incites violence on some of its customers. As someone who works in the industry and visits this bar on a semi regular basis, I am extremely disappointed in the female employee who more-than-just-encouraged (I'm assuming regulars) customers to "teach him a lesson". The dude was old, and yeah said some stupid stuff. But they actually just jumped him and physically assaulted him. After which the employee went out to say a few final words. I left right after, and will never be going back or ever encouraging others to enter this bar. In this industry, customers can be assholes, but you don't EVER incite violence. I hope that employee is removed from employment quickly. She will be the cause for a law suite. read more

I can honestly say that we have never had a bad experience here. We have been coming here for years and will continue to do so. If you're looking for a calm and chill spot to hang out then come here during the afternoon. At night, things can get a bit busy and crazy, but the staff is nice and it's always entertaining to listen to people sing kaorake. The food... The food is so good. We constantly come here for lunch and get their philly or french dip sandwich. We get a salad as our side, because they have really tasty, creamy ranch. I like the fact that I can order appetizers like potstickers, wings, jalapeno poppers, etc by the piece. It's so convenient when you're drunk and hungry but don't want to order a full entree. Drinks are reasonably priced and they have a big selection of beers to choose from. Also please look at what they define as a portion of wine, I mean.. Come on! So generous! This place used to be a fun place to be.. My Husband and I came up to the bar and the Bartender was nowhere to be found.. She finally comes up to us and asks for our IDs and walks away to wait on other customers (which that's ok) after she comes up to my Husband looks at his ID asks what he wants and walks away without even looking at mine as I'm trying to tell her my order and she precedes to wait on other customers and then gives my Husband his order.. As I'm still sitting there not even acknowledged she started waiting on other patrons.. Finally I said to her if I can order and she snapped at me saying she had to serve the patrons that have been waiting longer... Hmmmmm weird she asked for my ID along with my Husband and completely ignored me.. Her explanation was she never seen me.. Are you kidding you just asked both of us for an ID. This is my go to bar. Unfortunately for other bars, they are rated by me based on the Highlander. Food is great, drinks are cold and reasonably priced. Like most bars this bar has a duel personality. Daytime is typically the local older crowd. Nighttime is the younger karaoke crowd. No matter when you visit, the staff is friendly and accommodating. You do need to exercise a little patience on Taco Tuesday because it gets so busy. read more

Usually a great place to just have a fun and relaxed time with friends. Be warned, the DJ plays favorites and even if you put your name in early you may not ever get a chance to sing. We were there for three hours last night and people who came after us made the stage within an hour. The drinks are reasonably priced, but be warned its only Pepsi and Sierra Mist if you like a soda pop mixers. The people watching is spectacular, this bar literally draws all walks of life. I've never been so mortified of embarrassment and treatment by any civil operation In utah. The waitresses are so un- cooth, and one especially acted as if she was high on illegal drugs, as she bounced off the walls on meth. Screaming and running around at the end of this Friday night. 9/23/20. It was a birthday celebration that our friends highly suggested we end our exceptional evening at Highlander. As a business owner myself, I would terminate my staff for such lewd behavior, the treatment to respectful patrons, and professional attendees just to visit the karaoke bar, the waitress high on meth should have been reported to the authorities, as she raged yelling into the restroom TO GO OUTSIDE, we stood with our mouths dropped open in surprise, why were calm patrons treated with disgust by a place recommended to close our experience of Utah friendship and birthday fun. Our night was ruined by this particular staff. The reputation of this establishment was completely tarnishd We're a group of professionals who were not drinking, or even requesting drinks since last call for alcohol was just called out. nor demanding, but entering the premises at end of the night, one last night that we were entertaining business professionals before leaving Utah. What a disgrace to the Utah entertainment/bar/Karaoke! The doors were unlocked as we entered, we heard "last call" was called out. We were accepted into the club, but unwelcomed by an irrate bar tender /waitress. We were calm, cool, that no more alcohol services were provided.we were invited in by door greeter, who didn't say the business was closed, but alcohol was no longer served. The male hostess did say karaoke Was going on for another hour, but was booked. We were ok. just to enjoy the music. As we sat at a table this particular staff member embarrassed us by demanding we were entering when they were no longer accepting anyone in after 1am. We entered the door at 12:55am, but stood waiting for the greeter for 6 minutes, as he wasn't at the desk as we waited the 6 minutes. It was then 1:01 am, .he allowed us into the premises, he never said you are unwelcome, its past 1:am. Due to we were there. Doors were open, we had masks, we were kind,.we weren't argumentative etc we are a quiet group of 4 who just entered a highly. Recommended fun place to end our night.. when the waitress, bartender went uncontrollably liable, bat crazy that we were there, we asked for her name and owners name. She didn't know the owners name as and would not give us her name. Who does this ? During this time of financial lowering because of Covid, we all know times are hard...so why would you destruct another person's livelihood by screaming and ruining a reputation of a business that obviously is not theirs to worry about. Along, with embarrassing innocent patrons who just entered to spend the last hour of their moms birthday. How hirrible! do not , do not support explosive employees who obviously,have anger problems and are on dangerous drugs to work with the public. The air is stale, the carpet is beaten to threads, and the clientele has a stool molded to the shape of their ____ where they come to sit and drink the libations in this very oddly-ruled God fearing "we hate adult bevies" state. I went as part of a wedding party karaoke event. We ordered a few drinks beers, then a few mixed drinks. I know that the bartenders are handcuffed for creativity by the insane laws, so its tough to perfect the pour... but they were still a little weak on taste (my girlfriends Margarita (yes, a questionable choice at a dive like this) seemed to be a shot of tequila with a splash of premade mix on top and an ice cube- lukewarm and fairly gross)... Anyway- the karaoke aspect has a ton of songs, awesome little practice booths, and there was some talent in the room that night. SIDE NOTE, good work the bathrooms were clean. To land this ballad- I went because it was part of a group setting, I wouldn't for the love of music...
