Hiiiiiiiiighly recommend Liquid Joe's for your next wild Saturday night out. We reserved some tables as we were celebrating a friend's birthday this night. I had never been before and really had no idea what to expect. I am pretty sure they play here a lot, but we got to see the Spazmatics and man oh man...I LOVED them so much. They played music that everyone loved and they were great about playing the music. The singer was in key and sounded a lot like the artists. They made the experience so much fun throughout the entire night. The drinks were good. I started with a few Jack and Cokes, Run and Cokes, we took some shots, and I drank some hard cider throughout the night. Really, no complaints about any of it. Everything tasted as it should. The shots we had are sometimes called Copper Camels, other times they are called Buttery Nipples. I am convinced it is the same drink in the same way I am convinced that the two shots I had of it, added 10 years to my life. It seriously was the best shot I have ever had and the bartenders made it perfect both times. We were in there for a birthday so we brought cake and decorations and all that. The bar was super accommodating and we truly had the best time. I would love to see Liquid Joes and the Spazmatics again real soon! read more

This place was a total let down. We bought tickets to watch midget wrestling and never got to even see the show. First off doors opened at 7 we arrived about 7:30 as to have a couple cocktails before the show was to start at 8. As it approached 9 I was done. Standing room only, super obnoxious tall drunk people started to also notice the show hadn't started decided to become kinda loud. The place is super small too. By 9 I was ready to leave and did. Dude... for what it is, I guess it's good. I don't feel like a bar in Millcreek that does 80s nights and hosts bands from around the same time frame should look so dive bar inside. I want the inside to match the outside but even with our last time going in being almost 10 years ago, it didn't look any different other than the stage itself had improved. Every Saturday night, the Spazmatics perform live with their 80s band. It's a great time every time! Not only are these guys performers, but also entertainers! You feel like you're at a concert by the way they engage with the crowd. Bouncers, bartenders, and servers are all friendly! There's no drama here and people of all walks of life come here. If you're the shy type, it's great to people watch. If you're the eccentric one, get out on the dance floor and have a dance battle with the other eccentric folks! Small dance floor and plenty of seating. If you want to sit down though, it's best to come early like 9-930pm. Crowd starts filling in at 10. Drinks are cheap too! Great for date night! read more

Small venue with a big back of stage LED video-wall & outdoor stage. Nice bar to catch an affordable & intimate show but BEWARE parking is SUPER-ultra limited and if you park in the plaza behind it, as last night they towed a dozen or 2 of our cars, stranding me and my wife and kids that went to see an all ages show only to leave and find our car GONE! This is a great club! We came here for a party to celebrate a friends birthday and expecting to dance to some great 80s music. The spazmatics were scheduled to play that night. They didn't go on stage until 10:30 which was a little disappointing, but the 80s music that they played beforehand was fantastic so we were fine. Once the band came out it was fantastic! We had a great time! There were a few really drunk people that were annoying to deal with, but that's pretty normal at these kinds of things. The band was so fun. The absolute worst vibes of any place I've ever been. Front door guys couldn't have been less inviting. The floor was sticky the moment you walk in. A guy walking around being buddy buddy with the employees had on a shirt that said "Don't turn this date rape into a homicide." NOPE! Never again. Liquid Joe's is a place that has found itself stuck in the 1990's. Went for a concert with a friend and everything went wrong from the moment we arrived. The show was suppose to start at 7:00 pm but we were not allowed to enter until 7:45. Once in, the check in was very dated and would have barely been acceptable ten years ago. The best part about this place was the fact that they had a sign that said no re-entry, and yet they still required each person to have a stamp on their hand. After three hours had past, and still no sign of the headliner, the MC came out and said that it would be a little bit longer due to the VIP's meeting the band. Immediately the thought of "WHAT! you have had three hours to make that happen". Needless to say this place is disorganized, dirty, and has very little respect for their customers. On a Saturday night, I have yet to find better recurring entertainment in SLC than the Spazmatics at Liquid Joes! I've seen them dozens of times, and still go almost every Saturday. If you've never seen them, get there on a Saturday! Their stage persona is hilarious, and their 80's Pop covers are even better. $7 cover Moderately priced drinks Hooka is available, but I'm not sure the cost. I've heard $12. This place gets PACKED around 11:30, but the bartenders are FAST and very good at what they do. I never wait more than a minute or two before I have their attention. If it all gets a little overwhelming, the back patio is a great place to step out for some fresh air/socialization. To date, I have never brought anyone to see the Spazmatics and they not love it. If you've never seen them, you're surely missing out. read more

Came here on Saturday because I'm a huge fan of the Spazmatics! 7 Buck Cover. Fantastic for live entertainment. Hookahs for $12. Sodas are $2 and large beers $4. Most of the people are a little older. After being immersed in the hormonal cesspool of Area 51 on Thursday night, coming here was a welcome change of pace. If I were to guess, the average age of most people here would be late 30's or early 40's. Not many youngins here and a few cougars past their prime. Spazmatics get on stage at 1030pm and rock it out for about an hour or so. They play DJ Top 40 music from the late 90's and early 2000's in between the Spazmatic sets. read more

1st time here, had a blast. Saw Warren G, one of the best shows I've seen: including Eminem, Outkast, Ice Cube, Snoop and so on. Staff was friendly, non-alcoholic drinks were priced well, $1.50 bottled water and $2 soda. Music that was Dj'd before main act was good. Played pool, sat outside in a patio area, danced on stage and generally had a great night. I wouldn't pay for their reserved tables, no one stays seated in them when the acts come on. So I was very excited to attend the Color Me Badd concert this past weekend. My excitement was NOT WARRENTED because it sucked! Liquid Joe's is a small nightclub the location and the actual space is very nice. But this is where it all went wrong. The concert was supposed to start at 7 o'clock and there was a line of us outside just a little before 7pm. We were not let into the club until about 8 o'clock. If seemed like there were 1 million opening acts. The opening acts were BETTER than the weak ass headliners!!! Color Me Badd did not come onstage until midnight mind you, and sang 3 of their songs (very lackluster) and the lead singer could not sing anymore. Clearly studio singer back in his day. And then they covered 2 songs, one by Michael Jackson and one by Blackstreet! REALLY !!!!! You couldnt do your own stuff. So from 7 to midnight waiting for the headliners to show up and getting a 20 minute concert for $22 a ticket. Come on Liquid Joe's ....never again. Next time set expectations little bit better than what you did. I'll never come back here again. Tell us they aren't coming on stage till midnight. Tell us there are 5-6 (lost count) opening acts and a 20 min show! WTF!!! If I could give a minus star rating you'd get that. No second chances here. The ONLY reason this place get 4 stars is because of the Spazmatics & the Metal Gods. Some serious awesome live 80's music and the bands are dressed in 80's gear as well!!! The smoke will make you feel like an ashtray, the drinks are ok, the parking lot is hell and it is like you are off-roading, the line to get in if you make the mistake of not getting there early is miserable. Granted this was 2 years ago so smoking might have been outlawed here now, but the only way these people are still in business is they have the best band around! read more

I've ventured to this off-the-beaten path music spot on a few occasions to drum with my band. Wednesday nights are not the most hoppin' night, but they're good at making you sound good. You get paid based on the amount of people you bring in, which seems fair enough. Sometimes, they'll even give you a couple of free drinks. On Saturdays, I've come in here a few times to check out the Spazmatics who, with their great set list and entertaining abilities, almost make up for the usually kind of obnoxious crowd they attract. I say that primarily because I've had beer spilled on me on two separate occasions, but that was many moons ago. In fact, it's been awhile since I've seen the Spazmatics. This place is a gem!!! Probably the best bar in all of the Salt Lake area, or at least that I have experienced in the 5 months that I've lived here. Absolutely loved it! Totally beats out any bar downtown. Amazing music, super fun crowd, and tip the bartender nice and they will make sure you are being taken care of. Liquid Joe's never disappoints. I have only ever been here on Saturdays when the Spazmatics are playing, but I would definitely like to check out their hair metal & 90's music nights. The Spazmatics perform an awesome set of 80's music; being an 80's kid, it is right up my alley. The Spazmatics really bust it down & put on a good show...everything from Madonna to The Eurythmics to Journey to The Cure...a little something for everyone. It can get crowded, but not overly so. The staff & the crowd are very chill. I am a gay dude & have never felt uncomfortable, even when out on the dance floor with my hubby. It is an inviting & laid back atmosphere. They have a couple pool tables & a nice little patio out back to chill on. When it's all over, we usually grab some tasty tacos or burritos from the taco cart outside. Liquid Joe's is a weird place. The staff is great, the musicians are phenomenal, the beer is cheap and cold, but...well, let's talk about the clientele. Every time I've been to Liquid Joe's, I end up having a very long conversation with an overzealous, very drunk person. For some reason, the patrons seem to think they're everyone's best friend. And hey, I'm all for friendly conversation over a beer, but not one person I've encountered here seems to know the line of demarcation between friendly and annoying. Also, they occasionally have poker tournaments and they draw a curtain across the entrance so that those who aren't participating can't even enter half the bar. But hey, it's a bar, weird things happen. Go to Liquid Joe's, grab a beer, groove to some great music, but make sure you bring your own friends. read more

I've been going here for years, never had any problems. Last night, my friend got too intoxicated to the point she needed to leave. I still had my drink that I had ordered prior, but hadn't finished because I was drunk. I walk up to the bar to get my friend some water and the blonde, older, female bartender loses her mind. She calls over the bouncer, one of the other bartenders, and someone who was working the front. She proceeds to say, "I fu*cking X'ed her and she has a drink in her hand." She then takes my drink and all I had asked for was a water for my friend. At this point I have people I don't even know coming to my defense telling them that I didn't do anything. I had called an Uber for my friend and was waiting for it. During this time they are telling me that I wasn't allowed in the bar. Not once during this time did I make a scene, or act too inebriated. All I was simply doing was trying to get my friend to sober up. This isn't how you should allow your bartenders to treat customers. I should add that my friend wasn't making a scene either, she just simply was way too drunk and needed to leave. read more

This place is an armpit. I mean it. I've been to a range of bars and this one ranks with a sailor's bar. If you can get past the extreme testosterone levels, bad drinks and nasty bathrooms then you might actually have a lot of fun. You can dance as bad as you want and really not give a crap. I've only been on Saturday for 80's night but those are some of the best times i've had in Salt Lake bars, minus the time I got kicked out. Oh and they hit capacity pretty early (11?) and you could be standing in line waiting for people to leave if you get there too late. read more

We had fun last night! We're not often found at the club/bar but at the suggestion of an acquaintance we made our way here last night for a night of 80's music and booze. The Spazmatics were fun to watch and certainly didn't hesitate to bring up their female audience members. They rocked, we danced and it was a blast. The DJ before was fine, but the energy really spiked one the Spazs took the stage. However, it was almost 11 by the time they made it on stage, which seemed late to us. And then they took a break relinquishing the stage to the DJ, at which point we left, so I'm not sure how long it was before they played again. The alcohol was...Utah standards adherent. Never too strong :( But it was yummy and for $30, including tip, we had a White Russian, Paloma and two AMFs, which EVERYONE was doing. Baaa The service was a bit slow, but that's probably management's fault, not the server's. I saw two waitresses, I think, which doesn't seem like quite enough for the whole establishment. Our waitress was friendly and helpful, but wasn't able to be everywhere at once, dang it! I also liked the layout of the bar. It allowed for people to cram onto the dance floor, if they so chose, or sit at a table (all of which were reserved, FYI) or the bar, or play pool, or smoke out on the patio (though the patio was relatively small). I was also surprised to see that the crowd was not _just_ white, but seemed about proportionate to the general make-up of Utah. Yay for not just white people! Though watching the dance floor...you'd never know. Still, people had fun and that's what makes the difference. First time here and probably last. Saw Puddle of Mudd their. Saving Abel was much better. Weird lead singer but knew how to play the crowd. Likes.. ...cheap beer Dislikes... - Crowd- most ugly older fat people who talk about non important stuff and stand around holding a beer like manikins and hog the stage area. - Outdated bar opened up over an hour later than they said it would. I went home early, like many well before the show was over. It went way past 11pm on a Sunday. Poor execution. Why dont you fools walk out and tell people standing like what the deal is or open up and sell some beer or food?! - Puddle of Mudd ... as super boring as a puddle of mud. My as well as be a pained face manikin staring into space, if not for the ogling of a few girls. Long story short; worst stage presence ever. Never see him again. We have been here a few times to see the Spazmatics. We went during 80s night. I'm not really into 80s music, but my friends that are love this place. Drinks and bar food are reasonably priced. Well.... I used to love going to Joe's to see the Spazmatics. Now? I won't be going back again. Why? Apparently the owners of the parking next to Joe's extremely small parking lot AND across the street now refuse to let anyone park there. Signs were posted in some areas, so we avoided those areas. Others? No signs... the tow truck was in full force towing everyone's cars. No warning. Nothing. I asked where I should park my car (Joe's has about 20 places to park only). They told me several stores down the street. Now.. if I had come with a big group... ok but I was a female, alone being asked to walk down a street with almost no lighting several businesses down and then to return to my car after my night out in the same. Nope. Won't do it. Won't risk it and would never ever ask my friends to risk the same. You could tell I wasn't the only one who felt the same as Joe's is usually packed for the Spazmatics and it was not at all. If one of my friends wants to Pay or be an Uber for me then ok but otherwise lol I won't be going back. read more

This was my first visit to this establishment to see the band that started it ALL for me on my Metal quest back in 82'.......Y&T! Odd shaped venue that still had plenty of room to see the band. As a non-drinker, I still had non-alcoholic options available that were pleasing to the palate! The downside to the facility was the lack of PAVED parking. Dropped by here for a birthday and watched the bands that were playing. Great bands and great service. The music was loud and there was nary a hipster to be seen. The Killians on tap is great bonus but the fact it tasted like a girl I dated from Kansas looked (flat and lukewarm) was a little disappointing. The waitress was on top of it, I mean she was there every time our drinks started running dry. Like a republican when a poor person tries to vote, she didn't let it happen. Great place to go if you're into the local music scene! It's a bit of a dive, but I like it. The place is small and there's always a great variety of bands playing. Some suck bad, but that's the risk you run I guess when you listen to locals, haha. The acoustics are great compared so other clubs I've been to. The place can get pretty packed, so go after 10. The bands don't usually start playing until 11 anyway. Parking=not so good. Park on the street somewhere. What else....oh the people tend to be pretty awesome. Friendly, open-minded, etc. It's a fun place to go with groups of friends for a few reasons: 1. If you find yourself lost and alone, your friends either left you or are in the bathroom. Seriously, the place is not that big. 2. You can still hear each other talk when you're inside the building. Not necessarily with ease when the band is playing, but that's a no-brainer. 3. This doesn't seem like a meat-market-pit-stop for folks looking for action (Port O'Call is a good example). It's like every other club I would imagine, but I don't feel like I should bring pepper spray and wear 3 layers of clothes. Maybe I'm weird, but I don't like being eye-molested. As a visitor from another city who was following a band playing here I got to say this place pleasantly surprised me. I wasn't expecting much from a rock n roll club in SLC as I attend shows in LA, and Vegas all the time and I have to say this place impressed me. The staff was super nice, patient and accommodating when asking about specific UTAH laws and regulations, the beer and drink prices were reasonable, and the bartenders were fast and efficient. The sound was really good too... I would not hesitate to attend another event here. read more

I've been to Liquid Joe's multiple times and the crowd remains the same. Super creepy. The service is ok and the bands are usually a good time. BUT!!!!! Beware the patrons and the security staff is no help. I had a creepy guy standing over my drink acting suspicious. Luckily I had a friend watching over me. When we talked to the security about te creeper they said they couldn't do anything about it. Ummmm... hello? Kick the creepy guy out?!??! Beware all female patrons. You will need to watch your own backs. Security will do nothing to help you. read more

I have been coming here for years. And it is not really my thing most of the time. But for birthday's, coming on Saturday for the Spazmatics is always fun. They do covers of 80's pop music and do it well. The drink prices are not to bad. And they do offer Hookah for your table. I am sure I will be back for another B-Day for sure. read more
