I loved my experience at Highlights! Denise was superb. I came in for a balayage and cut with a picture of the style I wanted and she gave me expert assessment and advice. She was professional, and very obviously experienced right from the start. I was confident putting my locks in her care. I really liked how she took the time to explain how the style in the picture I brought would actually look on ME (i.e, length should be slightly longer to frame my face shape, the color for my skin tone, and how to correct / incorporate the bangs that I had tragically cut myself in boredom). She told me what would need to happen (including which would be more damaging) for me to achieve that hair color and we went with lightening then toning to avoid the red pigments from coming through in my hair. Denise was upfront with any extra costs so I wasn't surprised at the end, and I didn't feel l pressured to buy sets of products they carried. Because I didn't feel pressured, I did buy a shampoo she recommended for my hair. After a week of use, I see how it's better than the shampoos I've been using. This was my first time here, plus my first time getting full foils. I walked out with exactly what I'd dreamed of! I arrived a little early and Ramy took me right away. He looked at pictures I'd brought for inspiration and we talked for a while until we were sure we were on the same page. (I definitely wanted more than the balliage look, so full foil was right for me.) He was also clear from the beginning about letting me know that toner would cost extra, but he recommended it. He mentioned another option too, but didn't pressure me at all. I have long hair and Ramy made sure to get it all done right. He made fun conversation throughout and got me water when I asked. The highlights looked promising when my hair was wet, but once he started blowdrying, POP! The color was perfect. It was hard to contain myself in the chair. ;) I had wanted a real change, but one that still looked natural on me, and here it was! Ramy did a great cut and I really appreciated that even after the blowdry, he took his scissors out and snipped some minor hairs, just to get things perfect. I visited this salon for a haircut and was disappointed. Upon arrival, the staff was lying on the couch and was unaware of my appointment. The washing, cutting, and blow-drying were completed in roughly 25 minutes for long hair. The process was rushed and lacked attention to detail. Also, lots of yanking. No heat protectant was applied during the blow-drying process, despite the use of very high heat that caused visible smoke. Pricing inconsistencies and unclear communication further detracted from the experience. Although I had a Groupon, I assured Liba I would pay the full labeled price. However, he stated that his haircuts start at $125, which directly contradicted a prominently displayed salon banner advertising haircuts for $85 (reg price). The salon's website lists a starting price of $70. This is misleading. My haircut was done carelessly and it was significantly shorter than what I had requested. The result did not meet my expectations. Based on my experience with service quality, pricing transparency, and professionalism, I cannot recommend this salon. read more

Based on Ramy's many, many, many wonderful reviews here I set up an appointment with him for a cut, deep conditioning, blow dry, and full highlights. The results blew me away! I've been a dedicated hair virgin for 23 years now, and Ramy has really made me a convert. He was so thoughtful, he really took his time to chat through what I wanted and as I only had a vague idea (being a virgin & all!) he gave me his expert opinion and the results truly speak for themselves. My highlights look stunning in all lighting conditions, and look like my natural highlights. I have never written a yelp review in my life, but honestly I needed even more people to tell about this after chatting all of my friends' ears off! I went here the week of Thanksgiving - I only called the week before and they managed to fit me in! I used a Groupon and sometimes I find you dont get as good customer service but they were all so welcoming and lovely there. I had Denise she helped talk me through coloring my hair and what she thought would be the best service even though it was different from what I selected on the Groupon. The offer of a glass of wine after a long day at work was more than welcome and Denise was great, very professional but friendly - she gave me a great recipe for a starter for Thanksgiving day that went down a storm! I am hardly ever happy when I come out of the hair salon but this experience was an exception. The color and cut were perfect and I cant wait to go back for my next one. I went into this salon so nervous because I had never dyed my hair before and I was going in to get a cut and some balayage highlights. Denise did my hair and she was amazing! She was so sweet and calmed me down by reassuring me that it would look natural after. She offered me something to drink and a magazine. She even made sure I got quarters for the meter and she even offered my boyfriend a drink. I used a groupon that I found which was a great deal. I was traveling from New York so I asked her opinion about what to do and where to eat and she had many suggestions! In the end my hair looked so much healthier and had natural highlights that I wanted. I have been to the highlights salon today ! My hair was completely yellow and long ! All I wanted was to have highlights and take out the yellow ! Did not want to cut because I like long hair ! Lully the lady who did my hair cuted my hair in a way that gave a new life and look to my hair without taking my so loved length of hair ! Her highlights were so amazing blended !after Long time searching for a hair salon that meets everything I need I found the highlights salon ! Lully is my new favorite and believe me she is honest , appreciate it she won't do something she is not sure about ! Loved everything and surely will not anyone else take care of my hair ! Finally i found someone who can handle my hair! Saliba is the best! I have crazy thick curly hair and I've had at least a dozen keratin treatments before but this is the best! I knew halfway through my appointment and having had many keratin treatments in the past that the end result was going to be different. Saliba took his time and listened to what i had to say. I found highlight salon through groupon even though i never ended up purchasing a groupon Saliba still honored the groupon price. Typically when I go for keratin treatments many stylists are intimidated by my hair because i have so much of it. Saliba assured me that I was in good hands and I sure was. Overall, I'm extremely happy with the results of my hair and will certainly be going back soon! read more

I was a groupon-hopper for years, until Saliba did my hair. I don't have a lot of hair on my head, but it's curly and has volume. In literally in an *hour* I got foils done, sat under the heat, got my hair washed, cut, and blow-dried straight. Every time I've come back I gotten everything done in a similar time frame, and he does a GREAT job. He chats a little, but if you're looking for a stylist who will keep up a steady stream of conversation, he's not your guy. One time I was in a crunch for time and couldn't wait for Saliba. I was asking for a really bright non-natural color. The person they assigned me was honest and said he didn't have that kind of experience, and transferred me to Diane, who was also fantastic. I was looking for a new hairstylist and while reading some reviews online I came across highlights salon. I decided to try it out, I needed a full foil and a new hairstyle desperately. I was warmly greeted as soon as I arrived by Saliba! I briefly described how I would like my hair done and he knew right away what to do. I could feel the confidence he had in his job so it put me at ease. My hair came out beautiful, the cut and color and the style were above my expectations! My hair typically takes three hours just to foil he had me out of there in not even two hours! I am so glad I found this salon because they have a customer for life! I went to Highlight Salon for the first time and was using a Groupon for a deep conditioning treatment, cut, and style. Victor was very friendly and genuinely seemed to care about doing a good job. My last haircut was at another salon in Boston and I was not pleased with the results (choppy layers that were not blended well). Victor was able to address my concerns and "correct" the layers from my previous cut. I would certainly recommend this salon and Victor. usually, I am not thrilled with the way my hair is styled after a cut. Though, this time, I really like how Victor fully styled my hair and took his time (nearly 20 minutes just to style). I plan to go back to this salon and request Victor. read more

I went in for a 1:00pm appointment this week with Denise (she has 16 years of experience) with a groupon and the result was highly satisfactory. She had me out of there in an hour and 40 minutes with a full balayage highlight (per her recommendation due to the low maintenance on the consumer end), a trendy cut, a deep condition and a blow out. I was treated very kindly despite the little amount I paid on groupon. Hairstylist was professional and personal and I was complimented by my classmates the next few days. Went to Highlight for the first time after I bought a Gilt City offer for balayage, haircut, and blow out. Had a wonderful experience with Rod who completely transformed my damaged and dull locks that were overdue for a cut and color. While he is still working on improving his English (he is Brazilian) i was able to communicate perfectly effectively and it was absolutely clear that he knew what he was doing and took pride in it. I showed him a couple pictures of what I wanted and he took the reins from there. I felt very pampered while I was there and the rest of the salon staff were very nice and accommodating. Each time I walked away completely in love with my new do! She is so talented as a stylist, but more importantly has a great personality. Coming to see her is an all around great experience. I even bring my boyfriend to see her because she gives amazing, professional man's cuts. The salon is really nice too. Today was the first time that I have been to Highlight Salon in Boston. And let me tell you I am Thrilled that I did. I had my hair cut and highlighted by Ramy. The level of customer service and professionalism is unheard of in days where everyone is in a rush. Impressed! Tried this salon off of a Groupon and purchased the full highlights, color, deep condition, and blow out package. I was so nervous after reading some reviews because I never let anyone touch my hair, but it needed a makeover so desperately bad. Two different gentleman cut and colored my hair because I was there so long. Even though I gave them a different design they probably don't see or do very often, they REALLY did a great job. Denise is amazing!!! I found this place on Groupon. I am a hispanic woman with very thick curly hair, and I can't go to just anyone, but I took a chance anyway. The salon is stylish, the staff are very welcoming. They offer wine or water while you wait. When I sat down at Denise's station I was super nervous. She started talking about my type of hair, and how to care for it. I immediately felt comfortable. Anyone with my kind of hair knows as soon as a hair dresser touches your hair if they know what they are doing or not. I am not exaggerating when I tell you that this woman knows her s***! I so highly recommend Rod at highlight salon!! I've seen him twice now (first went in with the Groupon and then came back because he's awesome) and both times I've been beyond impressed with his attention to detail and patience with my hair, and beyond happy with my new color! I normally get a full foil and my hair is VERY thick but he never rushes and is super conscientious the whole time. I bought a groupon for Highlight Salon for a full foil, deep conditioning treatment, cut and style, and I couldn't be happier! Everyone at the salon was extremely friendly, and Lule was great! She was very quick, in a good way, and the color she gave me turned out beautifully. She also didn't make any cuts or trims without checking with me first, and my hair looked so much healthier afterwards.
