I called them a couple times and talked to them and explained that that was a bit excessive. After I did some research we could have had it done at the dealership for $200 less with a year warranty. They told me that the labor charge they go by a book. So another words if it takes them an hour and the book says up to 3 hours that is what you paying. they did mark the part up a bit too and knew they would. I believe honesty will keep people coming back. They just lost me as a customer and they lost a new customer that could have been going back. I like to support small businesses but not if they charge more then the dealer for a repair. They were nice talking to me, but overcharge. Honesty can go a long way. Is sad because they are a Costco recommended repair shop but not for me at those prices.

I'd had another auto guy tell me I needed new brakes, new transmission and engine mounts and a bunch of other repairs, so decided to get a quote a 'south street auto' Kevin the owner said I only needed brake bracket parts and cleaning, and something with the power steering but that my brakes were almost new and the engine looked great. I asked him to do everything on the car while I was there to make sure it was safe for my college aged son to drive and it all totaled $414. I saved a few thousand by coming here. I noted that every guy that came in was a 50-70 year old local who had obviously been taking their cars there for years. This is now my go-to auto place. Kevin could have told me anything was wrong with my car and I'd have no clue but he obviously runs a honest and extremely fair priced.

He seemed annoyed when I asked him if the parts were OEM, there was no detail on the estimate, In this regard. I have driven BMWs for 20 years. So I just got a phone call from a very highly regarded Bmw mechanic in West Hartford, who is known for as honesty. He told me my brakes were 75% fine a little wire on the rotors on the front and a little less in the back, but nothing I had to address right away. Whereas Portland automotive told me I needed a complete thermostat sensor yada yada when they check the codes, this Mechanic and West Hartford said he would do less and then see what happens (instead of trying to gauge me.) what convinced me to get another opinion was reading the reviews on Portland automotive, which seems sketchy, especially by men who probably it appears to me no more about cars versus the women to think they're very nice. Well, I'm a woman, but I go with my gut instinct, and in this case, it told me to go elsewhere.

OK, let's start this for you by saying that I've been going there for years and I've never had a…read moreproblem and that's why I continue to go there However I haven't been there in a while So I went there the other day and let's just say it's not as efficient as it used to be. Every time I've been there, I've been in and out under a half hour and it almost didn't matter how busy it was I went there Friday, July 10 just after work around 4:30 when I pulled up there was two cars ahead of me. You can't really call yourself in economy oil change place when it takes almost 40 minutes before you call me up to the counter to collect the bill and you're not even done with the oil change yet. But that's not my biggest complaint My biggest complaint is, I could hear them talking about how they're having trouble with my car hood from the lobby and full disclosure. I've never had any trouble with my car ever in my life. This is not a situation where I knew that thing was messed up and blah blah blah. Negative Never had a problem with my car hood So then one of the workers there calls me up and charges me for the oil change and then immediately casually mentions that they're having a little trouble closing my hood, but should just be a couple minutes. As soon as I sit down, he calls me back up like immediately And says hey, come here let me show you. I'm not sure why he had me go sit down or tell me that something should only take a minute when he didn't have an idea of how long something would possibly take but that's another story I guess So I go back to where they're doing the work on the and I stand next to the at what they're talking about and they say they can't get the hood closed, but they're willing to take apart the to rectify the problem, but it's gonna take a couple hours Well, I didn't have a couple hours to wait so I told them that I'm all just gonna have to drive off and then they said well you can't drive like this due to the fact that the hood will pop open. I was a little discussing that they didn't tell me any of this until immediately after they charged me. I was super annoyed full disclosure. I'm not the best at controlling my anger so I just called my brother who and if this a big fix and if I can just drive it away. He told me not to worry about it and that there's a secondary catch and that the hood won't pop over and I can drive it away and he'll take care of it. Funny these guys didn't even know that Whatever I guess I'm just pissed that after they immediately charged me they brought up the issue. I felt like I shouldn't have been charged for the oil change considering my hood was completely fine driving in there. Even if they cost more I would prefer imported auto center - they tell me when I don't need specific services, bring appropriate items to my attention and give me options, and are candid when there is something out of their abilities or comfort zone (certain cars have very specific tool needs or specialty bits that are impractical for anyone but a dealership, especially on oddball cars like mine). They would rather my car be repaired properly than make a few bucks off of me. Highly recommended!

I recently had the front end of my 2016 Honda Accord inspected after replacing my tire. Jeremy reported that the struts were original and worn but not blown or leaking. Although replacement was not absolutely necessary, he noted doing so could improve ride quality and handling. I opted for the improved handling. He also reported that the front brakes were causing shimmy so I followed his recommendation and replaced the pads and rotors. The car handles noticeably better at highway speeds, which is important to me.
