I was visiting DC area for a conference and ended up eating here due to its proximity to the airport. I could grab a bite there before catching my flight. This place has many craft beer specials and has many drafts on tap. The food is typical american fare and the prices were comparable to other places near by. We sat at the bar and the waitress took and delivered our order hut 8f you snagged a table you got a buzzer that let you know when your food was ready. Got nachos with Carnitas which hit the spot but just whish there was less sauce on the Carnitas and the cheese was not "whiz". Favorites were the chicken tenders which were meaty and came with a duo of dipping sauces which were out of this world and sweet potato tater tots, both that came with a dip of dipping sauces. Went here for an after-work happy hour. The prices are good, however the food and drink quality definitely aren't consistent. A coworker got a fish taco with what was a piece of fish the size of a good chicken tender, meanwhile someone else ordered the same thing and it looked more salad than fish. And the same drinks ordered definitely were of different strength (for better or for worse). I really do enjoy their mobile ordering system though! Easy to order, easy to pay, easy to order more, and they bring the food out with some alacrity! Definitely a place better for a smaller group since it gets so loud. You won't be able to hear half the table if more than 3 people. Definitely wouldn't be my first choice, but certainly not auto-crossed off the list! read more

Visited Highline for a post-work happy hour with coworkers. It seems like the go-to spot for those working in Crystal City and I can see why: casual environment with lots of beer on tap and TVs. An escape from the buttoned-up work environment is the no-frills sports bar on the corner. While I have enjoyed the QR code ordering system elsewhere, there is a lot to be desired here. It felt overly complicated to split orders and share a tab, which is a huge miss if most of your weekday customers are coworkers drinking on the company card. I did like that orders from your phone went immediately to the bar, which then prepped drinks and delivered tableside. Like the other reviews, nothing to ring home about the food. Typical bar fare. Not really good unless you've got a lot of ketchup and ranch to dunk things in. All in all, I probably wouldn't return as it wasn't nearly as memorable as the company I was with. I did not see a happy hour menu so I ended up paying regular price, now I'm seeing that they have happy hour once I googled it. The food was just ok. This is a convenient place to have a group happy hour since it has a lot of space, decent bar specials and allows folks to order from their phone so that you can have separate checks. Drinks come out pretty quick. Happy hour is decent and the fish tacos were decent. If you don't have a table reserved, even if you do, the place can get crowded pretty quick. One of my biggest issues with this place is that it gets very, very loud and hard to talk to anyone. If you can get near the windows, it's a little better. We ordered beer and some of us received our beer in a timely manner while others waited nearly a half hour. We also ordered the so-called Ultimate Nachos and after 45 minutes and two reminders to the waiter, we received what can only be called nachos in the same way Chef Boyardee is gourmet Italian food. For $10 it was a smallish serving of chips with a few jalapenos, a tiny serving of real cheese, a little beef and stale nacho sauce like the cheap stuff they serve at the ballpark but worse because it was barely warm. I'm no foodie but after one bite I had enough of these not so ultimate nachos. Trivia was fun and I'll go back and try a beer. I've been to highline before and their food is such great bar food that's simple but cooked very well! They have a fantastic space with windows that mimic a patio vibe at the far side of the restaurant. They have a completely contactless order system where you scan the QR code and pay on your phone. It was quick and we were given our drinks fairly soon after putting in the order. I ordered the veggie burger that came with fries. The burger was so delicious and well made. It was a pretty big, hefty meal with the serving of fries and a beer, but it was so delicious. I will gladly revisit this restaurant when I'm in pentagon city again. read more

I was in the area for a conference and came here for dinner with a co-worker. It's a much bigger place than I first thought. Unfortunately, the entire back room was reserved for a private party. But, we did manage to find a seat and order. This was complicated by the fact that it was also trivia night, and Monday Night Football. The weird thing about the seats is that a number of their little tables have just two seats on the same side, facing the bar/TVs. I mean, it's kinda cute and unique, but a little odd at the same time. Don't worry, not all the seats are arranged that way. Their beer selection was quite impressive. And the big-ass mugs of beer were even better. The food was good. Pub fare for the most part, but well made and tasty. I don't think that there is waiter service here at all. You order everything from the bar and pick up your food at the end. No biggie. This is a good, casual place, when it's not packed. read more

The over cooked wings I got were barely covered in what was a sad excuse of a mumbo sauce and i had to pair it with a $6 beer, even on happy hour. The worst though was the service. It was slow, on a slow night nonetheless, and our bartender was arrogant and acted like any question we asked was below him, which was especially notable because of the multiple scoffs. So if you ever see a guy who looks like he just got out of a failed 21 pilots cover band, red beanie and all. The menu is extensive offering a wide range of neo-American comfort food from grilled cheese to more unique favorites like "dirty corn on the cob" (Known as Mexican street corn at other restaurants). They have a good happy hour menu and a large beer, wine, and cocktail menus. They also have Bold Rock cider on tap, which is spot on. The service is on point. TLDR: The highline is a perfect place to host your next event and a great place to come for a casual night. My fiancé and I hosted our engagement party here last weekend and if we could do it all over again, we would pick the highline every time. The venue: Matt (the GM) was enormously helpful and accommodating in helping us plan our event. His team set up the patio for our event before we got there. He also provided many amenities such as a mic and speaker, aux cord for our own music, plates, knives, cake servers, and more. Matt let us bring in our decorations which really helped elevate the space. Matt's team also ensured that our party was receiving excellent service. Everyone who attended our engagement party kept saying how the space was perfect for the event! The food: I've dined here casually and for our engagement party and have always been happy with what I got. They have solid wings and really good sweet potato fries. For my engagement party, all the guests were pleased with the catering the highline provided. The drinks: They have a fantastic selection of drinks that are really unique. One of my favorites is the green apple cider. It's perfect for non beer drinkers like myself! Overall, really great bar and I'll be back again. read more

Would not come back here, unless I wanted beer. Here's why: 1. I came on the day that they have a wing special. But you MUST order them in sets of 8 wings and you CAN NOT mix sauces. I've never been to a wing place where they require you to order a certain number of wings and say you can't use different sauces on wings. I don't understand the logic behind this. But I'm more irritated that this is NOWHERE on the menu. The bartender acted so rude when I didn't know any of this and it's like DUDE CHILL the menu didn't inform me of this! 2. The banh mi sandwich is just a sandwich. It's just insulting to Vietnamese people to call it a banh mi. First off, it's not even on a French baguette. That's part of what makes a banh mi a banh mi. Also, the veggies were not pickled. Everyone knows you don't just throw veggies onto a banh mi. They need flavor. Additionally, the meat was chicken. It didn't even have Vietnamese flavors and banh mi is traditionally made with pork. LITERALLY EVERYTHING that could have been done wrong, went wrong! Please don't advertise this as something that it's not. It's like calling a McDonald's chicken sandwich a banh mi 3. The place is dark and grimy. I feel like a rat or cockroach would run through at any second and I could possibly pick up a disease from sitting on the gross chairs. Pro: blue cheese sauce was on point. My first visit on a rainy Friday in Crystal City. You have the option of taking the stairs or take the elevator up to Highline. They have a nice long bar. They have big picnic style tables and a lounging sitting area. They have a nice selection of micro brews. They have happy hour on select beverages. Service at the bar was good. I had tater tot appetizer. The deck section was closed in because of the rain but you had a nice view of Crystal Dr & the Friday 5k Run. I would like to return when the deck is open. read more
