I would not recommend working here as the hourly pay is not commensurate with what they expect of an employee. Their training is non-existent. A couple college students with no experience in business management train you, up to six different people. The head manager's feedback does not exist. Not recommending this place. We have been going there over 12 years. Dr. Hight has a good reputation in the Charlotte community, but this place is not the same. Not worth passing on several well established Vet's offices on the way to use this place any more. Front desk staff is not professional. Not what it used to be years ago. The level of communication is poor. Ex) Sharing conflicting messages which caused confusions. Some are rude. When we asked about pros and cons to a treatment plan to cure prolonged symptoms, we were told to do whatever we wanted with because he/she is our dog. Ended up taking our fur baby to a different Vet and found various concerning things that this place missed, and had to be treated asap. Tends to be more pricy than others in the area. read more

Don't bring your dogs here or atleast puppy's they charge $75 for a supposed checkup that consists of one thing which is making sure his hips haven't fell out of place and he's breathing which I say he's running jumping playing and I see him breathing fine I'm not getting charged $75 everytime I bring my dog in I asked them what it was for and they couldn't even explain it but instead glossed over it and was like oh yeah it's standard then I asked if I needed it and they said they wouldn't treat him without it don't come here without knowing you'll spend way more money than you actual need to. This clinic and staff are as worthless as teats on a boar hog. They are perfunctory at best. I have two canines who are 9 and 14 lbs. and they refused to cut their nails due to the dogs protesting. The first visit they performed the clipping, the second time they drew blood from clipping and the last time they refused and insisted that my dogs would need to be anesthetized in order to cut their nails. This is after I had spent nearly $600 for physicals and rabies treatment. NOT GOOD! Any reputable veterinarian should have the necessary equipment and knowledge to address a client's needs. I had a great experience at Hight! I got my first puppy and took her to Hight because it was close to my home. The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable! They were very considerate of finances and gave me estimates of her next two visits. The vet tech also gave my puppy a free nail clip which I found to be great. She explained how to cut the nails and told me where to get nail clippers. The doctor seemed very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. I left with a huge packet of informational brochures and I thought that was also extremely helpful. I was very stressed about this appointment because this is my first puppy but they made everything so easy and enjoyable! I highly recommend taking your fur babies here! read more

I took my Maggie to be boarded there for a week since they are her vet and they had treated her wound on her leg. They were great and she was great when I got her back. Everyone there was so nice and they were so wonderful when I would call on vacation to check on her. I have also recently taken our new bloodhound there. Had an appointment at 3:00 and waited 45 minutes with 2 animals. Not good at all! Terrible experience, and they never acknowledge the ridiculous wait time. To make things worse I feel like I was overcharged for service that were provided. Time to find a new veterinarian. Enough is enough. We live across the N Tryon from Hight and recently got a puppy. We took our puppy to Hight due to the convenience of location. We LOVED it! We saw a nurse first, who explained all the "normal" shots and checking up they do with puppys and what my dog was "due" for. She listed all the prices and asked me what I would like to go ahead and do. She left the room and let me look over the different shots, and procedures with prices to decide without her looking over my shoulder (I thought that was very considerate). Once I decided she added it all up and showed me my final price to double check if I was okay with it, which I was. We then proceeded with the check up which went very well. They got down on my pups level on the floor which was so sweet, they could tell she was afraid of the exam table and didn't make her go up. The Dr. and nurse both sat between her and earned her trust giving her kisses, pets, and rubs before sticking her with a shot. When they gave her the shot she took it so well! They then gave her treats, more love and pets.... it was so sweet. I wouldn't trust my pup with anyone else when it comes to "scary" doctors visits and shots. They were honest, loving, with a very "up front" and no judgement attitude. Loved it, will def. be going back! read more

We've been going to Hight Veterinary for the past 7 years. We switched from another Vet in the Mooresville area. Our German Shepard had Diarrhea and was throwing up. The vet in Mooresville just put her on various drugs. One of those drugs we questioned because of it's dangerous side effects. Dr. White was the first Vet we saw at Hight and had a more holistic approach. We followed his recommendations and everything cleared up nicely. When Dr. White left the practice we starting seeing Dr. Wood. He kept us completely informed about any medical condition. He also gave us us options if treatment was necessary. I trust this practice completely and so does my 130lb Shepard. That is why we travel the 40 plus mile round trip to go there. read more

I've been bringing my cat here for 7ish years now. Never once did I ever feel like they were trying to get their money's worth. Dr. Hight is amazing of financial circumstances and will try his best to figure out a secondary way for any issue. However, my girlfriend took her dog there and had some issues with the female doctor there. She didn't seem so professional or caring. But that won't make me stop me from bringing my cat into see Dr. Hight. He's awesome. read more

I can't understand why anyone could give Hight's clinic a "poor" review. I respect a person that has a drawing in his waiting room wanting to become a vet: WHEN HE WAS 6 YEARS OLD!. Hight and his staff have always been amazing to my wife and I, and even better to our pets. When we moved to Charlotte 15 years ago we found Dr. Hight and company. Granted, there has been some turnover in staff. That is life, people move and things change. The one thing that has NOT changed is Dr. Hight's dedication to his patients. Hight and his staff are great and provided us with an additional 1.5 years with our beagle. Thanks to being thorough and dedicated they found his cancer and referred us to a great oncologist. Also, Dr. Hight was "conveniently" present in the parking lot when I had to have my German Shepherd euthanized. My point is, Hight and his staff care about their patients! If there is a better vet in Charlotte, North Carolina; I challenge anyone to prove it. read more

I took my animals here for years and had pretty neutral feelings about them: they did check-ups, administered vaccines and we were on our way. If you are looking for a review that states the staff was nice to your pet, you didn't wait long to be seen, the prices were fair, you can stop reading because those things are true. A lot of people do not question what a vet or even a doctor tells them and I am glad I did after my experience here with one of my cats. One day after a late appointment, I got home with my cat after getting his vaccines, and he started showing signs of an allergic reaction. I called the vet just before closing time, they told me to bring him back right away and they waited for me and treated him after-hours. He needed steroids and IV fluids, and it was a pretty scary experience. I was glad that they stayed and didn't send me to an emergency vet that was further away. After this incident, I was scared to get my cat vaccinated again. I considered only letting him get his rabies vaccine, since he is strictly an indoor cat. The problem came when they wanted to keep him in the clinic for observation after each vaccine, and to do this all his vaccines had to be up to date. I did not feel comfortable with this and elected not to get him vaccinated, especially since he has also developed other problems that we could not get under control, and I did not feel he was healthy enough to risk another anaphylactic reaction. They made me feel like they were doing me a favor for even allowing me to bring him there to get treated at all after not wanting to vaccinate him (my other cat was still getting his vaccines and I'm not one of those people who have anything against vaccines). The other problems we had was persistent vomiting, for years. First they told me that cats vomit. After some insistence they suggested exploratory surgery. I was curious how we went from normal vomiting to needing surgery, and wanted to try other diagnostics first. They told me that we could go that route, but eventually we will end up doing surgery and they were trying to save me money. So I asked if we could check bloodwork first, which was normal. So we decided it was food allergies and started on prescription food. This didn't work. I eventually took him to a holistic vet who switched him to wet food and we have not had any vomiting since (it's been a year). I just feel that if I was any other pet-owner (I am a nurse and based my judgments and decisions regarding my cat on my knowledge of sick people) they would have talked me into putting my cat through surgery and we still wouldn't have had an answer. Also, the holistic vet said that the 3 year vaccines are very harsh on animals, especially when they get several at once (which he did at Hight). He has been getting 1 year vaccines at the new vet and we have not had a single reaction. The new vet also agreed that we should wait to vaccinate until he was healthy and worked with me to get him healthy. So, although the new vet is more expensive, I feel like I saved money by avoiding unnecessary surgery, not to mention avoiding putting my sickly cat through surgery. read more
