I moved to Leander in 2020 and both of my senior pups had terminal issues. with care and medications and numerous checkups, my 9yr old lab with liver and kidney disease told he had a year from another vet, made it to 14 years 5 months. The doctors knew how much Zeppelin meant to me as they were aware I would have broke into my 401k to keep him around. He was my Pup I had in my early 20s through Manhood. He was Him. When it came time to consider the end, the doctors were with me, sat in the floor while I considered my choices. once I knew there was only one choice, they worked with me and his moms work schedule. At the time I worked from home but she was in south Austin for work as a nurse. They stayed open late on a Monday while we spent our last moments with Zeppelin. I know how much I want to leave work on time but I never felt rushed by them. I still get teary eyed as I still go once a week to get my other senior pup his meds, it breaks my heart to go there as a reminder of Zeppelin, but it is also testament to how much we appreciate them that I keep coming back. My husband and I had to take my senior boxer in as a walk in December 9th, 2025 because he was sick. The staff and Dr Thompson were absolutely AMAZING, so sweet and compassionate!! The Vet tech Sabra was so sweet and explained everything in detail including how much everything would be before doing anything as well as Dr. Thompson! I highly recommend them! 10/10 for sure. I did not take my pup to this vet, so this is purely a first impression review based on my initial phone call. When I called to make an appointment and ask a few questions, the person who answered was extremely monotone and lacked any warmth or enthusiasm. There was no sense of friendliness, care, or passion for their job--just a dull, indifferent tone. First impressions matter, and unfortunately, this one didn't leave me feeling confident or welcomed. read more

I never leave bad reviews because I know how damaging they are but my experience with this veterinarian was HORRIBLE. My dog got attacked by another one of our dogs and had to get stitches because of the severity of the wounds, so we took him to the closest Vet to us. After we brought him home, a couple days go by and we noticed that they missed a deep wound because of the dry blood that was there and we took him back to get it closed up. We go to pick him up and they TOOK OUT all the stitches from before and said, "we are going to treat it as an open wound so it can heal from the inside out." I definitely would understand if this was a cut but my dogs flesh was out of his body. These are massive and deep wounds we are talking about and they CUT OUT the stitches and sent him home with us and gave us a topical treatment for it. They DID NOT have my dogs best interest at heart. We paid $500 for the stitches and $100 for them to take the stitches out and for the topical treatment given to us. DO NOT take your dog here. All they want is your money. I'm fine with paying however much if it meant my dog was being taken care of but this clinic and doctors failed me and my dog and did not take care of him as he should've been taken care of. We took him to a different veterinarian clinic and the vet there was shocked at how they could do this to him. My dogs flesh was rotting from the inside because of lack of properly cleaning and sterilizing the area throughly they just stitched him up and sent him on his way. My dog had to undergo a second surgery from a different vet clinic & is having to stay a couple days there so they can monitor the wound. If you love your dog like your own DO NOT take him here. The neglect and malpractice at Highway 29 Veterinary Hospital will cause your beloved pet to be in critical condition. read more

The vets, techs, and office staff here are wonderful! We are always greeted cheerfully, we hardly ever wait even a few minutes to go back for appointments, and the vets take the time to explain everything, answer any questions, and give the pups some love. I especially appreciated that when I called one day when my elderly dog was having some truly scary issues and they said come right in. We were seen immediately, the techs even carried him in a stretcher back and then later to the car so he didn't have the stress of trying to walk while he was having such a hard time just standing. He had vestibular disease and has recovered but that day was so difficult thinking I was going to loose him and everyone was so compassionate and reassuring. I highly recommend!! read more

We had 5 elderly sheep that had health problems, including blindness, and they needed to be euthanized . Dr. Kennedy and his assistant came to our house and compassionately let them go over the rainbow bridge. Dr. Kennedy was kind and gentle to them, and talked to the sheep to help them feel calm and unafraid as each one was put to sleep in a peaceful and merciful act of veterinary care. Highway 29 hires quality people! I have been a client for 20 years and have nothing but good things to say about this veterinary hospital. Although many of their emplyees are long-timers, changes in staff happen. I am thankful to say that I have never had a negative experience with anyone there. I never worry which Vet I am going to see or which tech is going to take care of my dogs. Trampus Isom, the owner, hires quality. I am the quintessential helicopter parent when it comes to my dogs. I ask questions and then I come back and ask more questions for clarification. Often the girls at the front desk are able to give me the information I need because they have been there long enough to know things. And if they are not sure, they check before giving advice. I like that. When Covid hit, they changed their procedures so that they could continue to service their clients and their owners. They came to the cars and took the animals in and then returned them with whatever medication they needed. It was SUCH an increased workload on them, but each one wore a smile. For many years, they have contracted Dr. Almond to come in and do specialty surgeries. He is also above and beyond. Recently they have worked alongside me and my aging dog, Bella, to incrementally make changes that have dramatically improved her quality of life. They intentionally love each of my animals and have shown such compassion and support as each one has crossed Rainbow Bridge. Today I have dropped off two senior dogs for dental cleanings. It is a priceless gift to be able to drive away with a peaceful heart, knowing my animals are safe in their care. We love the vets at Highway 29 Vet. They have seen us through the care of our cats over the years, and even the demise of a couple of them. :( When my newest little kitten was having coughing and wheezing less than a week after we got her from the shelter, they worked us in for an appointment right away and got her treated so she was back to her active, playful self within a day or two. I brought my dog in for an allergy shot on the 12th and on the 20th I called and told them the shot was not working. They said to bring him back at no charge. I brought him back and the vet's only response was that I should purchase some other products from them.  My four legged friend has received this shot for years from another vet and never had a problem.   When I received an invoice in the mail where they are attempting to charge me for the revisit that  they said was free.  I called and spoke to April attempting to clear up the invoice and her only concern was on receiving payment. Super disappointed, had a new patient appointment for our dog to have an injection for allergies. I spoke with the receptionist the day prior to schedule the appointment, I totally understand we have to be charged for an office visit and exam and was told that would be $35. My husband took our dog and 10 min in and out he messaged me that he thought it was a bit high priced. Upon me returning home and checking the bill we were charged $50 not $35, not a HUGE deal but still called to ask why it was more. Same receptionist answered and was very apologetic that she'd made a mistake and was very sorry but that new patient EXAM and visit was $50. Ok, my husband hears our conversation and says EXAM, he (our dog) didn't get an exam. I asked, didn't they listen to his heart, check his ears, general physical exam? NO, doc asked a couple questions, gave the shot and we were out. Now I'm pretty upset, I call back and get the same young lady who agrees that he should have had a thorough physical exam and will speak to her manager and call me back. Young lady calls back and the gist is, you walk in and you pay for an office visit and EXAM weather your pet gets examined or not. I'm not satisfied with that so I asked for the manager and she basically called my husband a liar and said that our dog HAD been examined by the doctor. HE WAS IN THE ROOM THE ENTIRE 10 minute visit. Horrible place! Do not take any pets here. My perfectly healthy dog Rocky had a limp. The Vet here made me do a simple nee X-ray. I picked him up and he was acting funny they said he was fine. He overdosed that night and died a horrible death. I called the vet and they said oh well that's how they make money doing as many test as they can I should've know not to let them do it and it was my fault. read more

I can't say enough good things about the experience we've had with Dr. Isom, the technicians and front office staff at Hwy. 29 Vet. We have two Nigerian Dwarf goats currently 2 months old. Dr. Isom did their vaccinations, boosters and banding. He answered all of our questions and educated us on nutrition and general care. Costs for services has been extremely reasonable and much less than we anticipated. One of our goats had Coccidiosis at 4 weeks old, which can be fatal if not treated properly. I took a feces sample and the clinic tested it while I waited. Dr. Isom came out and delivered the scary news to me and explained the prescribed treatment. It meant a lot that he took the time to meet with me, since I didn't have an appointment. I was really worried after all the things I had read, but left the clinic confident and educated. I have called the clinic and asked questions several times. Each time staff were friendly and quick to get my questions answered. Now both goats are healthy and happy! Staff was very kind, caring and professional. I didnt get to meet the vet and would of appreciated that kind of service and respect.. The tech carried my dog out of exam room for everything. I had a couple of questions I'd been saving up for when I got to take her in. But my girl got her shots (I think) and they scooted us along. That is why the low score. I didnt get a chance to ask. Don't take your rabbit here. Was given dangerous pre surgery instructions and blatantly incorrect information. Receptionists were very sweet mind you, they were just doing their job with the information they were given. First receptionist told me to fast my rabbit starting at 12am the night before, altogether my rabbit wouldn't have eaten 12+ hours if I followed this instruction! She would've gone into GI stasis and died soon after. Second receptionist said to just not feed her the morning of surgery, which is well intentioned but incorrect. Rabbits should not ever be restricted food before surgery, it is risky and unnecessary. I soon called to clarify since I had been given two VERY different instructions. The receptionist (bless her heart) told me that my rabbit couldn't eat beforehand because she could regurgitate her food mid operation. One problem: Rabbit's PHYSICALLY CANNOT regurgitate. She then had me talk to the vet in charge of the procedure who then went on to scold me, acting extremely defensive and telling me to just go somewhere else if I was so unsure. EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL and talked down on me, snickering at me when I started to break down in tears. Ultimately decided to cancel the appointment, the sheer unprofessionalism before I had even stepped in was telling enough. read more

We were traveling and picked up our golden from a rover sitter. She had a giant abscess around her throat area. We were very concerned and this office was able to see us right away after calling. It was diagnosed as a hot spot which we don't see very often out west where we live, so we were unsure of what it was and the treatment it needed. The front desk ladies and the vet and assistant were all super friendly and gave our golden the care she needed on a short notice. I love this team! I have been going to them for about 8 years, I do not trust anyone else with my two fur babies. They are always honest with me and still have the best prices! They don't only care about their patients, they care about their clients as well! They have continued to keep that family/friend relationship with their clients even as they've grown. I am always overly happy & satisfied with their service! Today I took my cat Ziggy for a hurt paw. We had been going to Highway 29 Veterinary Clinic for at least ten years. We started taking our cats, both indoor and outdoor cats. Dr. Isom and Dr. Crouch were great with our cats. Then we brought our dog, my first and only dog. Dr. Crouch did discover a heart murmur, and she recommended our taking our dog to a cardiologist--which we did. But she never said anything about our dog's teeth. She even recommended rawhide for treats. I now know that it's not flexible enough for the teeth of a small breed. After they built the new clinic, we never saw Dr. Isom. We seldom saw Dr. Crouch. They always seemed to be at the Lampasas clinic. Dr. Isom's exams had been thorough. When he examined one of our outdoor cats and said he needed a teeth cleaning, we followed through. I discovered a problem with our dog's teeth only because his breath smelled bad. We took him to a dentist in Georgetown. He had to have twenty-two teeth extracted. Seven months after the extractions, a further echocardiogram showed the highest level heart murmur with more enlargement of his heart. Within a month on medication we lost our baby when his heart couldn't handle the stress of his vaccinations that day. Can you believe that no one ever said anything about our Dachshund's teeth? They couldn't have done a thorough examination. After further research, I'm convinced that infection from his fractured and abscessed teeth caused his death. We have to live with the guilt of our naïveté and stupidity for using thclinic. Don't bring your pets there! read more

We took our lab in for a hurt left. No X-rays we done. Vet told me husband she was just old. We then took her to Blockhouse Creek vets. They did X-rays and discovered that she had torn her ACL. She is now scheduled for surgery with an orthopedic surgeon. Wouldn't take my newspaper to this place. Think twice before taking your family member to this place. read more

I brought my dog to this clinic a long time ago and loved it! Only offered what was needed for the dog no pushing of shampoo or extra flea and tic pills. It was when they were in the old building next door. I brought a dog on 9/7 and was so disappointed. It seemed they were all about the up sell. I first went to Dr Tramups over two years ago. We have since been clients at Hwy 29 vet. I went in for a checkup and to get the Meds for my dogs. I was tended to by a female vet (Do not remember her name). She was rude and had a very uncaring. I thought oh well she was just having a bad day. Not like anyone has ever had one of those. We had to take the dogs back 6 months later for shots and meds. Again we had the priveledge of having this female vet(notice I am not using the word lady). Same experience as last time. About 3 weeks ago my baby dog came up with a knot on his neck. I was just hire for a job after being layed off for quiet sometime. I did not have to money to pay a large vet bill all at once. I called and talked to Dr Trampus who now seems to be dedicating more of his time to the Lampassas clinic. I asked if I could bring the pup in to be checked out and he told me "I do not finance my client. Go and get a credit card so you can charge it". Needless to say that right there told me he is more concerned with the money than the animals. So even though he is good with the animals. If you have an emergency and need to have your animal cared for, and do not have the available funds do not use Trampus. If you want a person who is just rude and no bed side manaor don't use the lady vet at HWY 29 vet clinic. read more

One of my 4 legged babies had a visit here with Dr Janicek. The young women that checked us in was friendly and helpful as was another women who helped and seemed genuienly interested in the health and welfare of my little one. After a brief wait we were taken to an exam room and within a very short time Dr Janicek came in to visit with us. The visit went well and fairly fast. When he came back with the Tech to give me the medicine and instructions it was clear he was in a hurry Or maybe he felt that he had said all he needed and didn't want to hang around and listen to me blather on about possible causes for my doggies mini health crisis. I must admit to feeling a bit hurried out the door. Maybe it was the fact that it was close to closing time and they are not our regular vet. It may also just be how they do business, whatever the case if you charge a premium I expect a little more attentiveness. Over all this seems like a nice place to take your animals for care. Their prices are in the high range so be ready to spend some money if you go here. I saw two people check out while I was waiting to be seen and both men spent $200 or slightly more. We spent $199.45 for our visit. They did follow up with a call which is always nice. All in all this is not a bad place but their pricing is higher then need be. MY DOG IS DEAD BECAUSE OF THEIR INCOMPETENCE!! The definition of a veterinarian is someone who practices veterinary medicine by treating diseases, disorders, and injuries in animals. This facility does nothing to help your pet. They are only concerned about $$$. I took my dog here in Feb 2018 for breathing problems, swollen lymph nodes in his neck and coughing/hacking. There solution was to clean his teeth. They pulled 6 teeth without my consent. The bill between the 2 visits was $878. If they had helped my dog, I would be ok with that but they didn't. They never voiced any concerned about the high white blood count and did nothing to address the issues I raised. Instead he was in pain and agony from the 6 teeth being pulled and slowly declined after that, losing weight and mobility. Then 2 weeks ago, he started gasping for air. I took him back in and was told he needed to be put down. I took my dog to another vet but it was too late. I also found out that the blood work they took before his dental combined with the symptoms I described should have been a red flag. I'm sad to say last Saturday I had to rush my dog to an Emergency Clinic. I was told he was in critical condition and most likely suffering from Stage 4 Cancer. Had this been diagnosed 3 months before, my baby boy would still be here with me. IF YOU LOVE YOUR PET, DO NOT TAKE THEM HERE!!!!! THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR PETS! This is the absolute worst vet ever. Due to "covid 19" they won't even let you inside the building. So I call to let them know I'm here. Before they even let you speak they immediately put you on hold. I have now been waiting in my car for 30 mins for them to come out and take my pet back. There are 2 cars here. Not busy. I had to call again to ask how much longer. They said I'm next, 10 more mins pass no one has come out. What is the point of making an appointment if I'm going to wait over a half hour to even have someone come out. Not to mention the whole reason I'm here is because they screwed my cat up. He was declawed a month ago and still not walking o. His left paw. These people have no idea what they're doing and are running a terrible unorganized business. Not to mention they're so rude. Everyone at the clinic treats me and my pets like family. They definitely have the friendly, "small town" feel, but they are just as knowledgeable and capable as larger clinics (maybe even more so). I trust them completely to do what is best for my pets without the huge markup in costs I've experienced elsewhere. They always follow up after care, too. We have been very pleased with the care, professionalism, and kindness shown to our pets, especially when we have had to euthanize several very ill cats and dogs over the approximately 16 years we have been seen there!
