The interior makes one feel that you are in a high end cafe with its beautiful decor. Some many items to choose from, the person taking my order was very helpful in explaining the different kinds of drinks and pastries. Ordered the Ginger Honey Jobani as a hot drink, Biscoff Milkcake, Honeycomb, and a Beef Fatayer. There were several kinds of milkcakes which would have the texture like a tres leches cake. The Honeycomb had pockets of cream cheese and was drizzles with honey. The Meat Fatayer is like an empanada. The food and drink were very tasty. Highly recommend to stop by Sanaa Cafe and experience it. Their website shows more cafe openings in the future!

I love the space! It's welcoming, warm, and inclusive. Definitely a community space. There's so many fliers advertising groups, events, and activities. The interior is very thoughtful. From the register, all I could see was one a menu listing various juices. I wrongfully assumed they were freshly made because they were listed on the menu rather than displayed in a grab-and-go refrigerator or shelf like a standard coffee shop. Instead, I received a small 8-ounce bottled juice from a local producer, which was perfectly fine but if I had an opportunity to view the menu before ordering, I would have realized there were many more options, including specialty coffee drinks, matcha , smoothies?, and other beverages that I would have much rather chosen. I ended up ordering the green onion and potato frittata along with the bottled juice. I had originally planned to stay and work for a bit, but the seating was limited and the non-friendly atmosphere just wasn't for me, so I headed to my car to check e-mails. The frittata was good, and I appreciated that the lady warmed it up for me. It was somewhat enjoyable but could have used a bit more seasoning or flavor. The $7.00 8oz beverage was delicious so I drank it in about 10 seconds. I wish they carried larger size amounts at least because I was actually pretty thirsty. As for the atmosphere, it simply wasn't my cup of tea. My personal impression was that the café had a fairly homogeneous crowd, and I didn't feel particularly welcomed or comfortable. Others may have a completely different experience, but it just wasn't for me. The vibe was very much "I hella love Oakland but I only reside, spend money and visit the white communities of Oakland." Overall, the frittata was Good but lacking in flavour, the parking was convenient, but I wish I had been given a little time to browse the menu before ordering because their beverages look delicious. I've tried a variety of their coffee drinks along with one of the honey pastries. At their best, there's a lovely balance between sweetness, spice and coffee flavor. At their worst, the sugar and spice can overpower everything else and leave the drink feeling a bit one-dimensional. The standout for me is the Sana'a latte with slightly less sugar. That adjustment seems to unlock what they're aiming for: a really pleasant balance of spice, milk, sweetness and rich coffee flavor without tipping into dessert territory. Rich, complex and not overly bitter. The interior is polished and contemporary with chrome fixtures and bold graphic touches throughout. The overall vibe reminds me of a modern hotel lobby in a good way: comfortable, clean and easy to settle into for a while. Service has always been friendly and quick, though a touch distant. Would I call it a must-visit coffee destination? Probably not. But if you're in the area, it's definitely worth giving a shot. Especially if you're curious about spiced coffee drinks and willing to ask for a little less sugar.
