What a great experience! I've recently moved to the area and finally stopped in, and I wish I had sooner. Though I've enjoyed cigars for years, I recently got a pipe, and came to the store to find some tobacco for it. If I could give them a zero I would. I am extremely disappointed with their online services. I ordered six cigars 1 February, 2021. After completing my online order I was sent a receipt saying my ordered had processed. 25 days later still no cigars even with electing $16 three day delivery. I finally called today and was told they ran out of the cigars I ordered so my order was not fulfilled. My first question was why didn't they send an email or call to let me know. I have been waiting since February 1st for my order and here it is they never even had the cigars ordered. Then they have the audacity to ask if I want something else. They should have asked me after they realized they ran out of the cigars I ordered. Never again will I order from this company again. I wouldn't have been upset had they called, emailed to let me know or not processed my order then Sending me a receipt in the first place.... read more

By far the best place in town to buy cigars. I smoke expensive cigars, and Scott's prices save me $100+ per box! He pretty much has everything, and if he doesn't have something on hand, he orders it! My regular tobacco shop ran out of my favorite smokeless tobacco (Oliver Twist) and they had no idea how long they would be out. I kept checking with them every week for about a month and still no OT. Very few shops carry it. I searched for shops in town and made many calls before I found this place. They had plenty in stock so I made the trip to get some. The storefront's not what I expected and I nearly drove past them. Parking is in the back only. The place is cozy and comfortable and the guy running it was friendly and knowledgeable. This is where I'll go from now on for my smokeless. I would have given them 5 stars but it took an extremely long period of time to receive my order. When I placed my online order it was indicated that these particular cigars were in stock but they were not. I called and spoke with the owner on 4 separate occasions: on each call he told me just a couple more days. The last call he told me there will be extra goodies along with my order. I finally received my order after about 4 weeks. He overnighted them and added six free cigars. So now you may ask if I would order from them again? The answer is yes as long as I am not in a hurry. I had to turn around, as I drove right by the small sign in front of the shop. Actually, if I just kep on driving, would have been better off and not wasting my time here. Walked into this small shop and looked over several boxes of smokes. At first I thought this was a hidden treasure: with many brands marked down with10% or more signs. I had a yelp discount which I planned to use on box. While they show the Opus X logo in one of the pics; none where on hand, actually not too many brands on hand and very limited selection of single sticks. I guess its ok to encourage people to buy boxes, but this is the smalled single selection I have seen in any shop. I think there is a reason there is only one pic of the interior of this shop; its not a presentable store. I found a box of Krakens; but a bit dismayes as all the boxes wrapped in cellophane had an aged sticky feel to them. I was a bit concerned that the storage conditions were less than ideal. Well with my discount, I was willing to take a gamble. Well that is when I found out that when I clicked on the check in coupon; it only applied to select brands; which actually already had marked down tags. Pricing in general was no better than other better stocked and layed out shops. Also if I wanted to only buy boxes, heck I could get better deals online. I was considering still buying the box, but then I overhreard the conversation the smoking group was having in the shop. Not sure where/when it started, but I caught the piece about them agreeing that they don't care if its not PC, but using the word "retarded" is ok. Huh? Now maybe they don't think its offensive, but many others do! It is also a very sensative topic for those that work in professions that deal with individuals with special needs. At that point I just put the box back and walked out the door; with no plans to ever come back. read more

Scott and the staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and patient. Their customer service is phenomenal. The shop is small, but packed full with a great selection. I went in for the first time today, after finding out about Hiland's on Yelp. I'd looked on their website to get an idea of their selection, and found a six-pack of assorted Acids at a big discount. Being a five minute drive from work, I stopped in on my lunch hour, and inquired about them. After a little discussion between staff, they discovered that they didn't have any assorted packs left, but were happy to give a discount to similar Drew Estate cigar packs. Scott listened to my requirements (my boyfriend and I like sweeter cigars, but he doesn't like coffee flavored ones), and found the perfect pack for my needs. He even threw in an Ashton sample that he though my boyfriend would like! :) I had a fantastic experience. The woman at the register told me how to store them for the weekend (gave me a zip lock bag and water thing to keep them humid) and a ton of matches. Simply an amazing place. I intended to drop by for 5 minutes to grab some of their famous and well-loved Black Gold tobaccy for my pipe. I ended up staying for an hour at least and chatting with their incredible staff and customers. It's not just a store: it's a social gathering place and a wonderful experience. The tobacco is GREAT, and their cigar selection is awesome as well. They have a lot of knowledge and experience and they really can find something for everyone. I wish I had more time to hang out there, because they really live up to the 5-star rating they have. Parking can be tricky the first time or two but it's not bad once you figure out how to get into the little back lot from the alley. There is a wonderful balance in the store of helpfulness from the staff and giving time to explore the aisles uninterrupted. Another area that Hilands stick out to me is there are often boxes open for individual sale that most shops only sell for box purchases. I am going to give them five stars for the great service and advice. I found them with a groupon they were selling. If you are looking for some 500K ultra cigar lounge, then keep moving, but if you are looking for good prices, and people who know what they are talking about, then this is your spot. Trust me there is a cigar shop off Mill where the sales person says he does not smoke, but he has recommendations. Not here, their store is a humidor so don't be shocked if they are pouring water on the stone floor. The only problem i had was a $10 Arturo Fuente cigar I bought was cracking and peeling a bit, but a forgivable offense. Just an FYI if your considering ordering online...DON'T!!! I placed an order for a box of cigars they had listed as "In Stock" on 6/11/13. My order still as of today says "processing". I called and spoke with someone at the shop who assured me the cigars would be in stock within "3 to 4 days" and apologized for the inconvenience. I called a second time and was told they would find a box immediately and get it out to me...and that I would be contacted via my phone when they shipped....that was four days ago....and the box of La Flor Dominicana Colorado Oscuro No. 3 still shows 'In Stock". This business is not to be trusted. I feel that I have been lied to several times just so they could make one sale.
