Dr. Reich is not only incompetent, but actively harmful to her patients. She gave me a product that had hydroquinone in it that without bothering to mention that the product had hydroquinone in it or that it could only be used for 90 days without potentially causing skin darkening, in particular, Ochronosis (look it up, it's terrifying). Flash forward a few years when another doctor suggested I may have Ochronosis and I called Dr. Reich's office only to learn that the product she flippantly gave to me contains hydroquinone and is likely the cause of my blue skin. I asked to be seen in a complimentary appointment to diagnose if Ochronosis is indeed what I have, but the doctor could not be bothered to waive the $300 fee for someone she likely disfigured for life. Go anywhere else. Anyone working in Sephora would know to warn someone that a product has hydroquinone in it. read more

Not going to bore you with drawn out detais of my issues. Dr. Reich is friendly, professional, and approachable. Had to discuss sensitive issues and she handled them all professionally and made me feel very comfortable. Only reason I give 4 starts is because the meeting was a bit rushed (what Dr in NY doesn't rush you though?) and because she sold me products from her own office vs. giving me options to choose from. I think her stuff is overpriced, but hopefully it works. Great bedside manner and overall positive experience. I will be going back. read more

I have nothing but great things to say about Dr. Reich. I don't understand where the negativity is coming from! After switching birth control pills, and my skin FREAKING out, I went to see Dr. Reich literally in a state of panic. She was sooo friendly, (pretty much) on time, and really listened to my explanation/story of what was going on. We decided on a series of peels, plus a rx cream to start. After my skin was still not getting better, she got a bit more crafty and dug more thoroughly into what could possibly be making me break out in cysts. Long story short, I am now on two rx creams (both of which they gave me coupons so I paid $10 for each of them), at home peels, and an amazing skin brightening treatment that they sell at the office. She also put me on Spironalactone which really seems to be working. Sounds like a lot, but it has been working. And I really appreciate how she tried a few different things until we finally found a combo that was successful. The office is gorgeous and conveniently located. The front desk staff could be a bit friendlier, and maybe try smiling at patients while greeting them, but overall its a great experience. Highly recommended! read more

I saw Dr. Reich a couple of weeks ago for a mole check. I have history of melanoma in my family. She was very thorough and decided to take one biopsy and seemed very conservative. Lucky for me, she identified the mole that turned out precancerous. She has a very good eye, is very knowledgable and seems conservative in her treatment (when in doubt, she would check). Like the other reviews I can wholeheartedly agree that the office of Hilary Reich is run in an appalling manner under which the patient is not the priority. Here's my story: I was previously a patient of Dr. Reich's but hadn't been to see her in probably close to 1 year. I called in the evening to speak to someone about calling in a refill for something previously prescribed. Dr. Reich was not working that day, but she assured me she'd take care of everything and the prescription would be called in first thing in the morning...fantastic! The morning came and went and I received no call. I called in 3 times over the period of about 4 hours only to find out that because my insurance had changed to something that wasn't accepted by Dr. Reich she would not call in the prescription. The reason for this was because I wouldn't be a paying customer any longer. There wasn't any other reasoning behind the decision other than that. However, if I agreed to pay the $275 for the visit (seems high for a follow-up visit) out-of-pocket then she would call in the prescription at her earliest convenience, which wasn't clear when that might be, and I had already indicated this issue was time sensitive. The change in insurance was NOT a concern of the receptionist last night when she assured me she could get this called in by the doctor in the morning, and now I was essentially being told I needed to spend $275 to get a refill called in for something that was documented as something I need. I was furious and expressed my distaste. I begrudgingly made an appointment, and the receptionist decided to hang up me before I could say another word or clarify when the prescription would be called in. Regardless of my current insurance, I was a former patient of hers and deserve the 5 minutes it would take to resolve the issue or help me understand why this cannot be done in lieu of another office visit. I get that doctors are busy people, but so are patients, and a little respect and patience goes a long way. It is disgusting that this is how any doctor would allow their office to run. Dr. Reich is prompt, thorough, knowledgeable and polite. I felt a wee-bit rushed the second time I saw her but she did answer all my questions and she does a very thorough examination. I believe she only works out of this office on Wednesdays but I've not had too much trouble getting appointments when I need them. The office staff which she shares with Dr. Decotiis is hit or miss but not so terrible as to be a deal-breaker. read more

People! All the One Star reviews are ACCURATE!!!! 1. I have been to see Dr. Hilary Reich three times now. For the first appointment I arrived 5 minutes early and she showed up 15 min late. For the second appointment she was 15-20 minutes late again. The third appointment experience was horrible. She was 50 minutes late. My appointment was at 2.15 pm and she showed up at 3.05 pm. What was even more shocking was that she pretended that she was not late and I didn't even get a "Sorry, I am late!" Hello! I have a life, a job, a meeting to run to too! 2. Dr. Hilary will not speak with you for more than 5 min. Each time I went to her, the same thing happened. She cut me off if I asked her a question and did not care to explain the reason why she is prescribing the drugs or why she is injecting stuff into your skin. 3. I was asked to take a blood test for checking my hormones. The blood lab claimed that they sent the report to the doctor in 3 days. I called the doctor's office 5 times over 3 weeks and no one could find my blood test report. Of course I was only dealing with the brainless receptionist all the time 'cuz she wont let me talk to the nurse/doctor. 4. I had called her last Wednesday to ask a question. The Receptionist Emma took down my name, my number, my question (which was very simple. "Is my antibiotic causing me to gain weight? I have gained 15 pounds in the last month and I am not sure why?") Emma promised that I will get a call back from the doctor on Thursday morning but I didn't get a call still. Today is Tuesday of next week! 5. I should have known that this place is horrible because I called on a Monday for my first appointment and got an appointment for the next day. This should have been the clue for me, but I was desperate to fix my problem and I didn't think this through. read more

She cleared my longest skin problem in one day! Firstly, the reception staffs were very nice. Dr. Reich came in on time, she looked at my skin, examined the things I brought in(skin creams I use and supplements/medications I take every day), and listened/asked questions carefully to determine what might have caused my terrible skin rash. She was very caring and attentive. She prescribed me some topical cream. I had suffered from this skin rash for the past three months and she cleared my skin in matter of two days. I highly recommend her. I think the negative reviewers are her rival clinics, maybe? I am usually very critical of dermatologists(as they usually dont do a sh t) but Dr Reich did really clear my skin. read more

I have to agree that a Dr. Reich appointment is over before you expect to be. I've visited her several times and each time we met for less than five minutes. But she doesn't really need longer than that. She gets the job done. She will get you what you need, but she's not going to be your friend. If you want a long, deep conversations, get a therapist. AVOID THIS DOCTOR LIKE A PLAGUE. Also, many of the positive reviews here are fake and was paid for. The doctor Hilary promised that the lab work result would be available in 1 week. It has been almost 1 month and still nothing despite result already sent back to them. The staff keep saying the doctor won't be coming in this week and it has been going on for 4 weeks. They staff said result are in for a while and only Dr. can tell me but she is not available. I called again today, and they said the doctor is going to be out for another 2 weeks. WTF. read more

Take it from me, a high quality dermatologist is simply not easy to find in NYC. Since finding Dr. Reich, I don't need to look any further. Dr. Reich was highly recommended by a close friend over the summer, since then I have had 3 appointments and could not be happier. After visiting 4 other dermatologists, Dr. Reich finally came up with the correct treatment and my problem has been solved. She is smart, skilled, compassionate and a very effective communicator. A medical issue I had proved difficult to treat, and required months of trying different medications. I have seen Dr Reich a few times for both skin issues and anti-aging remedies (ie-Botox and fillers) I agree that her midtown office is not the best, but Dr Reich has always done a fantastic job on my skin care. I have been seeing Dr Reich for many years. In her 2 old offices in NYC and now in the new one. My husband sees her as well. She is very thorough is her full body exams go, which is 100% what I want in a dermatologist. I have never felt rushed and never waited more than 10 mins for my appts and never waited at all when I have called in for test results. I have seen many dermatologists in the years before I found her and none can compare to her professionalism and her expertise. Now having said that the doctor is wonderful, onto the staff. Today I had an encounter with Alissa, who was quite rude and dismissive. While I can tolerate a rude staff member to see a doctor who is excellent, what is more concerning and dangerous is their sub par billing department, especially Evelyn. While she seems like a s sweet woman, I was turned away from my appt today upon arrival due to 3-4 different insurance filing errors made by Evelyn. I was able to leave the office,(after coming in from NJ on my day off), find a starbucks and call my insurance company. I was able to get all the correct info and call their billing department with that info (some mishandled claims dating back to 2015) and get my account cleared. But the staff, doctor and billing reps should have tried to do that while I waited (it took me 15-20 mins) rather than tell me i can pay out of pocket or not be seen. read more

I am a long time patient of Dr. Reich's. She is an amazing Doctor, who is willing to go above and beyond in treating her patients. She does a wonderful job explaining conditions and treatment options. You can really tell that she is invested in her patient's wellness. She is very polite, caring and helpful. I've never had a bad experience with her. She has always made sure to take the time to answer all of my questions thoroughly and make sure that I understand everything she is explaining to me. Dr Reich needs to practice her people skills a bit more. She is supposed to check all the moles on your body but seems as though she does not want to even touch you. She does not explain anything about a diagnosis and leaves that all to her assistants,. If you ask her questions, her brief answers do not seem very confident. After waiting half an hour (so 20 minutes after my scheduled appointment time) I asked how much longer it would be and was advised that Dr. Reich had not even shown up to work yet and that there were two people waiting ahead of me if and when she ever did get there. Dr. Reich does move quickly BUT the office staff is unprofessional, and seem miserable in their setting. I do not agree Reich is knowledgeable. Although she didn't seem sure, she didn't hesitate to offer to perform a procedure that would have been far from beneficial as I later found. Her diagnosis was incorrect and if she would have performed this procedure it would have been detrimental. I can't help but feel her operation is run not much differently than a factory... The more units are moved a day the more she gets paid. Don't question your judgment, doctors aren't always correct and do not always have your best interest at heart.
