Dr. Nazarian is OUTSTANDING. She has been my physician for several years. I get a yearly skin check from her. She is extremely thorough and has an incredible disposition. In December she noticed (not me) a small freckle on my cheek that she felt looked suspicious. It's on my face so I obviously saw it but it was so small and looked completely normal. The biopsy turned out to show it was a borderline melanoma! She personally called me to deliver the results in a very calm and reassuring way. She referred me to a specialist who has removed it entirely and I am BEYOND GRATEFUL to Dr. N for her exceptional expertise. She truly is a superior doctor. She saved my life! read more

I went to Dr. Nazarian for difficulties with scars remaining from cystic acne from my teen years. During my first session, Dr. Nazarian was incredibly welcoming and informative about various options I had - A+ for bedside manner. I didn't feel like she was pushing me to get any unnecessary treatments, something I've encountered with others derms. We decided on doing a fraxel treatment and it went really well. I've done 2 sessions so far and can see a difference! She does a great job of managing effectiveness of treatment and managing the pain of a laser treatment. I probably have 2 or 3 sessions left to do and can't wait to see the outcome. Her overall demeanor and expertise were a game changer in how I get my derm needs met. Highly recommended! read more

Beware of her front desk! I've been looking for a good doctor for a while and was really excited to get an appointment with Dr. Nazarian. I called a week ahead, booked my appointment and asked several times for the receptionist/medical assistant who answered to MAKE SURE that they accepted my insurance. She confirmed and then sent me paper work online and I filled it out immediately. A week later I travel 1.5 hours from Staten Island to go see the doctor and I even arrive early. I get to the front desk and I'm greeted by a cold, older woman who asks for my insurance card. She tells me that THEY DO NOT accept my insurance all of a sudden. Apparently it's not underwritten by the appropriate party and turned me away with a half hearted apology. Are you kidding me?! They made me fill the paper work and CONFIRMED that they do accept my insurance a week ago! Honestly, I think she me and made up an excuse not to let me see the doctor. Why didn't they check my paperwork from a week ago then? The woman who answered the phone actually took my ID number and confirmed. I just felt totally disrespected and I wasted 4 hours getting to and from the city just for a nonexistent appointment. DO NOT GO HERE unless you want to risk the front desk making up a reason why you can't see the doctor. read more

First off, anyone that has anything negative to say about Dr. Nazarian on this site, probably did not give her the opportunity to fix/discuss what you are complaining about. I see 12 dermatologists per weekday, and Dr. Nazarian is one of the kindest, most caring physicians I have met. So, if you have anything negative to say, I would suggest attempting to contact her directly, as I am sure that she would insure the best service, and most satisfaction out of any patient she sees! Now for my personal review: Dr. Nazarian is truly one in a million. I am one of her representatives and I visit her monthly to bring her samples and information from my company. Every time that I am there she takes the time to always ask how I am doing and genuinely cares how I am actually doing. I got married in a October and had some minor skin issues during my visit to Dr. Nazarian, a week before my wedding. She immediately sprung into action to help my skin to be perfect for my wedding day and for this I will forever be grateful. She is not just any other dermatologist, she is answering a calling from some other realm to help people feel good in their own skin. She will boost your confidence on every visit and answer every question honestly with superb advice. Any patient would be lucky to call her their own!!!! I went to the office on 96th Street today and was so pleasantly surprised at both the sweet and accommodating staff, and Dr. Nazarian herself. I needed to make a few switches in schedule and never felt like it was an issue or that I was being too needy. The wait time was nothing, her assistant was lovely. Dr. Nazarian made me feel confident and comfortable that I was getting a thorough and professional exam from a caring person. Dr. Nazarian is incredibly warm, patient, and knowledgeable. I was very nervous about having broken capillaries removed via a laser and overall redness reduced via IPL but she was incredibly patient, gentle and took the least aggressive route by spreading out the appointments over a few months because she knew that I was nervous. I just saw Dr. Nazarian for the first time, and she herself was great -- knowledgeable, kind -- if a little rushed. I thought she had a good bedside manner, explained what was going on to be and made me feel a lot better! I also liked the nurse who was helping out. The doctor probably spent less than 10 minutes in the room with me, but I guess that's not uncommon. The Front desk however, was atrocious. I dealt mainly with Gloria, who informed me that I needed a referral -- which I knew and had taken care to organize the week before. Although my PCP had confirmed with me that it was sent, Dr. Nazarian's office hadn't received it. As soon as this came up, I was treated with complete disdain, and zero compassion. I was told either I could get them to send the referral immediately, or I'd have to pay out of pocket -- all while she was on the phone with other patients throughout our conversation. When my referral was re-sent, Gloria proceeded to give me an entirely unnecessary lecture -- in front of the whole room -- about how I will ALWAYS need a referral and should really take care of it beforehand.... I responded that I was well aware and that is exactly why I had done it the week before! Luckily the other lady at the front desk chimed in saying she understands I did everything I could and it was out of my hands -- but I was absolutely shocked to be spoken to so rudely in the first place. By the time I got to see the doctor I felt incredibly uncomfortable from the whole experience beforehand. If Dr. Nazarian herself hadn't been good, I would never return. I felt like a second class citizen because I needed a referral, and was treated like a complete idiot, which I do not appreciate. read more

I saw Dr. Nazarian in December due to a flare up of something on my neck/chin. Turned out to be roasacea. I was very stressed because I was about to go on a trip and it was really unpleasant looking. I wish I had taken a before photo to show the difference now... my skin is clear. Took a bit of time but within a month it was MUCH better and 3 months later I am clear. I thought I'd never get my skin back. I had no idea why this was happening and was pretty cynical of some creams working but Dr. Nazarian gave me a mix of creams & an anti-inflammatory for a month or so and I am SO grateful. Very nice as well... Like the setting there and I am returning this month for a follow-up. Highly recommend. read more

She BURNED my skin and left me with horrible SCARS, right on my nose! She is the WORST dermatologist I have been to in my whole life! I went to see Dr. Rachel Nazarian to get a laser treatment remove broken capillaries from around my nose and she burned my skin, I went back to her 2 weeks later and she did nothing for me, she no even admitted she had burned me, all she said as that I had a "skin reaction". Which is an excuse she probably uses when she does those kind of malpractice because I had the same laser treatment done 2 years prior with another doctor and the results were amazing. I asked the office for my money back and they did give it me, but that does as little as nothing to me that have to live with these horrible scars for the rest of my life! Dr. Nazarian has a wonderful bedside manner and is really kind and understanding (especially in situations that can be uncomfortable like talking about skin issues!) I made a last minute appointment after having an allergic reaction I couldn't identify and was gratified when her office was able to squeeze me in at the end of the day. Dr. Nazarian was able to offer a clear diagnosis and course of treatment within a few minutes of my seeing her and she was incredibly gracious and thorough. Really bad experience! Dr. Nazarian is arrogant and not very knowledgeable unfortunately! I saw her three times. Each time she would tell me how miraculous another commercial product they sell at their office is, how it is the real deal - strong and effective and that it is exactly what is going to rid me of my acne. She was very convincing, she said I needed it, so I bought it. Needless to say all the products were complete fraud. First time I had to buy a face wash in a black bottle - $38! It smelled like cheap orange soap. I hated it and it didn't do any good! Second time she had me buy "aggressive" peeling facial pads - $50!!! They appeared to be completely useless! No effect whatsoever! So overpriced! They were not peeling pads! The third time I saw her, she told me about an amazing topical treatment I had to use. It was a clear alcoholic liquid in a clear lipgloss-like container - $28 (for practically simply rubbing alcohol)! Guess what happened to this premium quality product after I used it - I think when the applicator touched my face and got in contact with my skin's natural oil (although I washed my face clean and dry right before I was using it) the soft part of that applicator dissolved in the liquid overnight, so only a bare plastic unusable stick was left for me in the container with the gross messy residue of it all!!!! I was so frustrated with the whole thing! My acne did not improve a bit and I wasted over a hundred dollars because my doctor was dishonest!!!! I got zero help at this clinic and wrecked nerves! I didn't try to go back to return the products and complain because I was sure they wouldn't take them back although I don't know and I was embarrassed. But really, this clinic is shameless!!!! read more

Dr. Nazarian is amazing!! I have been searching for years for a good derm and I'm so happy I randomly went to her. I went for a skin cancer scan. That was great- she was thorough. But... The best part was she completely cleared up my breakouts! I wasn't even going to bring it up because nobody has been able to help over the years and id given up. She asked if I was happy with my skincare and gave me suggestions and a couple of prescriptions to try. She said nobody needs to deal with acne and she was right! Dr. Nazarian is AMAZING. She took such great care of my skin. I had a burn mark that no one could figure out how to fix (not even my plastic surgeon). Dr. Nazarian was able to recommend an over-the-counter cream that cleared it right up (amlactin). It cost $8.00 and I bought it at Walgreens. I'm so lucky I found Dr. Nazarian. read more

disclaimer - i never got as far as scheduling an appointment. the intake over the phone was rude enough. i was put on hold to schedule as a new patient. finally the same or another person picked up, "provider?" she asked. that was her first word. i went along with her asking me all sorts of intake questions, without a doubt i'd have to fill that all in when i got there. i gave my insurance name and number, "it's not coming up, read me what's on the back of your card" but the information she sought simply wasn't on the back of my card - that's when i hung up just as unceremoniously and rudely and unapologetically as she was. there's plenty of other dermatologists. read more

I cannot thank Dr. Nazarian and her staff - especially Lisa - enough for what they have done for my husband. Lisa jumped over hurdles and bent over backwards to ensure that my husband, a chronic sufferer from axillary hyperhidrosis, could have botox injections just days prior to our wedding reception. Lisa made several long-lasting phone calls to my insurance company as well as the medication distributor over the course of a few days to request approval for my husband's botox injections, all while keeping me abreast of the process. Without her dedication and significant consideration for my husband's condition, he would have had a horribly stressful time at our reception, as he would have had been stressed over the inevitable, extremely apparent "pit stains" that would've made a guest appearance that night. Thanks to their help, my husband does not even need deodorant!...(at least for a few months) We will be life-long patients of this practice, and I would undoubtedly refer ANYONE and EVERYONE to Lisa and Dr. Nazarian. read more
