Much of menu is grown on the working farm, or comes from the surrounding area of Leelanau. And the lettuce just tastes better. Farm to table also means the menu is ever changing. There are a couple of staples, kale ceasar, chicken torta, beans and broth, their farm board, and of course their home made corn nuts. While beans and broth is simple, our group loves it, homey and flavorful, with their perfect greens side salad. I have generally ordered whatever the fish dish offering is, and it's also been amazing. They also recently opened their market, a bit of an expanded market from the small shop inside the restaurant, as well as sandwiches and bakery items. They have a few small tables. The restaurant does not do reservations. In addition to being absolutely delicious (black or with milk, sweetened or unsweetened), the tea and nearly all of the ingredients were grown at the Light of Day farm, which is certified biodynamic and right here in Michigan! Having originally tasted and fallen in love with Light of Day teas served on campus at the University of Michigan School of Public Health cafe, my friends and I made sure to visit the store during a trip up north.
