Everytime I go to Farm Club it's some of the best food I've ever had. Fresh, unassuming, crafted with care, there's nothing but goodness on the menu. This trip was highlighted by a beet salad, gemelli pasta, and a Thai chicken salad. All were expertly prepared and super tasty. Service and ambiance were comfortable and welcoming. This was a rustic spot right on the farm that had a market and served farm-to-table dishes. There was plenty of room outdoors to sit. The service was friendly, and the menu had lots of fresh and intriguing choices. For a starter, the tempura fried garlic scapes ($12) were ordered. They came with a maple and fermented Fresno chili hot sauce. The tempura batter was tasty. The scrapes were very long so a knife was definitely needed. The hot sauce was a nice addition, and I was hoping for more of it, or for it to be given on the side. Now that I think about it, I should have just asked for more, bad job. For the main dish, the grain bowl ($19) and chicken torta ($19) was split. The grain bowl had brown rice, spelt, millet, chickpeas, lemon-tahini dressing, pickled vegetables, carrot, kohlrabi, feta, and a pomegranate molasses. This was very light and extremely fresh. All of the flavors mixed well with one another. The torta had a chicken guisado, lime-cilantro slaw, pickled onion, and jalapeno on a telera roll with a side salad. The salad was basically just mixed greens, no issue there. Again, this appeared extremely light, especially the soft roll. "It wasn't what I was expecting but it's really good!" Was our theme for my sixth visit to Farm Club. The restaurant is as farm to table as it gets. Much of menu is grown on the working farm, or comes from the surrounding area of Leelanau. And the lettuce just tastes better. Farm to table also means the menu is ever changing. There are a couple of staples, kale ceasar, chicken torta, beans and broth, their farm board, and of course their home made corn nuts. While beans and broth is simple, our group loves it, homey and flavorful, with their perfect greens side salad. I have generally ordered whatever the fish dish offering is, and it's also been amazing. They also recently opened their market, a bit of an expanded market from the small shop inside the restaurant, as well as sandwiches and bakery items. They have a few small tables. The restaurant does not do reservations. It's usually warm when we visit (this year was an exception) so we don't mind the wait as the long yard is lovely, with seating and a drinks and snack counter. read more

Great staff, fresh imaginative food, and the setting is unmatched in the area and elsewhere. It's got inside, outside, shaded, sunny, rolling hills, and is a delight! I'm a local and this place is unique among the plentiful burger/fries/breweries and restaurants that offer supposed eclectic fare but may fall short for folks who travel a lot or have come from larger towns/cities. Don't get me wrong, burgers and fish and chips are done so well here but leave one feeling heavy and aren't exactly good for the bod on a regular basis. I can walk to Farm Club from my home on the LL Trail, so I go there often, particularly when it's less crowded (try Tuesdays at 4pm). The flavors are clean, fresh, and full of well executed combinations of their home grown produce. That said, if you are starving and looking for a large plate of fodder, or like meat, front and center, this may not be your favorite new restaurant. It leans heavy veg and I don't think I've ever seen red meat on the menu. Chicken, fish, and sausage can be found, however. Last night I went again, introducing a good buddy who's fella is like mine--prefers quantity and affordability over all else. We had a good time and the flavors and staff were per usual, fantastic! That said, there wasn't a great deal of heft to the three plates we ordered. The chili was delicious but potatoes and carrots could use a little protein to anchor the dish. The beans and broth are superb, but allowing the patron to add a meat to this might really add a heartiness and contentment that a chilly afternoon Up North demands. The drink list is really well done with local offerings and their own housemade libations. I don't drink beer much (prefer red wine) but their East Coast Pale Ale tastes like summer and is availible to go in six packs. Get one. It's cloudy, citrusy, with a vibrant hue to match. The toasts are always a pleasure to eat but the pasta dishes aren't my favorite although the meatballs are good when they come on a dish. For desert, The blueberry crumble cake was really nice with lemon creme on top! The peach tart however was hard and dry. Even my teen boys who are hungry 24/7 didn't take to it. It was not pleasing in any way. And the coffee is amazing, but the "cream" is not cream. It was milk. That said, they have oat milk for my folks who can't do dairy. There are more desserts to choose from next door in their market, but honestly, they need to bring some of the chocolate items over and put on the restaurant menu. Because chocolate. Serve the chocolate chip cookies warm with milk and there you go! Or a hot drinking chocolate with local chocolate? Please? The little pots de creme they used to have were nice and need an encore, please. Preferably with chocolate? We are blessed to have this gem so close to home. Not perfect, but pretty dang close. The cutest restaurant off the beaten path. I was traveling in the area and my work colleagues wanted something fresh and healthy so we decided on this spot. It is totally worth the drive out of town as this place has a great view, relaxing ambiance and friendly staff. All of the food was delicious and tasted fresh and healthy. We had the farm board, beans and broth, and chicken torta all accompanied by their home grown tea to help warm the cool and slightly wet day. For desert, we tried the Cherry Cornmeal Cobbler and a brownie that was served with the locally made Gabe's Vanilla Ice Cream. After sampling quite a few dishes, we left feeling full, but not gross, which is a testament to their good ingredients. Still my favorite local dinner spot whenever I am visiting the area! I went twice this year with positive experiences dining at the bar. My first time this year I had an excellent experience, with the beet salad, zucchini fritters, seasonal pasta, and chocolate mousse. Everything was delicious! The last time was not my favorite - I didn't love the risotto or seasonal toast this time, and the last of my sides arrived well after my meal was finished. Unfortunately the shop was also out of my favorite Kari Kari chili garlic crunch I usually stock up on here - hoping they will have it next time! First I have to say we left and didn't eat here. I am leaving a review on the service only. It's a beautiful spot and ambiance could be great. We were waiting (2 hour wait) and noticed a bistro table had been vacant for over 30 mins. There were no seats and we were tired of standing. We went to market (so cute) and bought an appetizer (we were very hungry) just some crackers and a dip and sat down. Within minutes very very rude woman came to oust us. I explained the table wasn't in use and asked for 5 minutes to finish our food--she rudely said no and literally stood there and made us move. We held our dip and crackers and looked for a place to sit. A nice couple gave us a spot on a bench. It was awkward and embarrassing--here's the kicker --for another 30 minutes that table wasn't in use!!!! At that point the evening was ruined and we left. They NEED to train their staff. We have been here a few times now. I brought my sister and her little ones and they loved it. The food here is so fresh. It is a beautiful restaurant inside and outside. What an awesome spot! If you are in Traverse City or on M22, I encourage you to make the trip over to Farm Club. Get there early- on Sunday night we got there a little before 6 and waited 90 minutes for a table. But it went by quickly because they have a small market to shop, picturesque land to walk through, a wine/beer trailer to order from with charcuterie faire, and tables and chairs to enjoy until your table is ready. So even though it was a long wait, we were occupied the entire time and didn't feel like we were waiting! 90% of their produce is farmed on their own land. The menu is a collection of what is in season at the moment. Everything g we ordered was insanely fresh and tasty. We had a farm board, a chicken Thai salad, and the rhubarb dessert. Loved it all! A note as many, if not most, of the dishes were centered around veggies/fruit/grains- not a lot of meat to choose from! I don't mind paying for quality but if you leave a mean still hungry mmmmmmmm there's something amiss. Everything is a la carte. No bread (filler) even offered gratis with the meager salad. Although I enjoyed my meal I would hesitate to return due to the $$$. There are simply too many other places in Traverse to eat quality food and not feel robbed when you leave. Favorite meal I had when visiting the Traverse City area! Charming true farm to table concept, with an easy approachable feel and curated retail that gives you the opportunity to leave with some of the yummiest food & drink items, merch, art, books, etc. For two for dinner, we ordered a few small plates, a main, and dessert, and live very full and happy. For elevated food, the portions were not small, and overall pretty good value. Ingredients were clearly fresh and high-quality, and I loved the unique combinations of flavors! We started with Tempura Bok Choy and Hakurei Turnip Salad. Why the heck isn't everyone tempura-ing bok choy?! So delicious with a light batter that was slightly sweet and savory with its sesame ginger glaze. Their technique must be flawless, battering between and into the bok choy leaves. So good. And then in contrast, the turnip salad was SO bright and fresh and herbaceous. The turnip and radishes were sliced SO thin and the coriander crumble and pickled mustard seeds were really fun crunchy flavor bits. Next up, Beans & Broth was so cozy (though only thing about this is that it cools down quickly and is less amazing when not hot). And the sausage with really good braised cabbage and a perfectly balanced mustard horseradish cream. Do not skip dessert! The Basque Cheesecake was perfectly textured, but the ginger-rhubarb compote and pistachio black sesame granola were standout flavors!! Beautiful, tasty, and complementary wine selection as well. The concept of this place is bad. On the surface, it looks magical. Cute outdoor seating, nice restaurant inside, cool bar, and overall lovely atmosphere. However, expect to show up 2+ hours earlier than the time you want to eat. They do not take reservations, and expect you to show up and wait 2+ hours for a table. For how popular this place is, you'd expect they'd have more seating, but no. You can drink outside, but cannot use their outdoor seating to eat. The bar seating is first come first serve, which is fine. Therefore, this is simply a nice place for a drink or two, but never dinner unless you're making a day out of it. I can't speak to the quality of the food since we did not want to wait, but I'm sure it's pretty good. read more

We stopped by Farm Club on recommendation from a friend. We really enjoyed it! We were a little worried about the 90 minute wait, but they move people through fairly quickly. It is very busy on the weekend. We were lucky to have beautiful weather while hanging outside waiting for our table. You can get a glass of wine and snacks while you wait. They have homemade apple dumplings, apple pie pockets and buckwheat donuts. They were so fresh and delicious. For lunch, we had the board with crudités, sausage, Gouda and trio of yummy dips. My husband and I also came for a dinner with his sister and her family and we had a lovely meal outdoors splitting several different plates including the arugula salad and a farm board full of tasty things like meats, smoked whitefish dip, and a few different cheeses. For my entree I went with the beans and broth which was excellent. Overall it was a lovely evening and everyone loved their meal. Really blown away by the Farm Club! The setting is stunning, right on a farm, with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. There was a wait when we went, but they have a little farm stand outside where you can order drinks and small snacks while you wait. Once inside to eat, the service was prompt and helpful. They had a ton of gluten-free options. I had some well-cooked fish with coconut rice for my main course, but the little gem salad as an appetizer was actually my favorite bite of the night. Honestly, the pudding was the standout. Indoor and outdoor seating. An outdoor bar. Bike parking and auto parking are plentiful. Don't be Deceived though. This is not a hokey commune run affair. It's well executed and priced above the middle class standard. The food is healthy and fresh. Service was prompt and thorough. We had to ask for salt and pepper and it took a hot minute.
