For 2 menudos and 1 chicken enchilada it costed me 57.30 which I find to be pretty pricey. I ask for a receipt and she offered to text me the receipt and when I agreed I never received the text which was a little suspicious I thought which is bad for business. When I got my food my brother bit into 1 of the enchiladas and ended up eating part of a long straight dark hair. The menudo also had a straight dark hair in it. I ended up having to go back to get a refund which they processed after seeing the hair themselves but I can't recommend this place after losing my appetite before even eating the food. read more

The birria was a bit tough to chew. Flautas were good but you have to eat them fast because they get soggy quickly. I think the best dish to get is the menudo. Rating stays the same. read more

I've been passing by Hilda's for YEARS! My first visit was well overdue. There's not much parking available on the street but once inside, Hilda's is much bigger than you'd think. I ordered the Chiliquiles con asada topped with juevos over medium. It had super tasty carne and tasted as authentic as you can get! My taste buds had a fiesta! Comes with a side of warm bread, a bowl of delicious chili verde salsita, and crema. Everything was tasty and seasoned to perfection! I had a bite of the pork tamale and it was superb! It was moist and flavorful. Mexican music was being played throughout our breakfast, and the waitress was super friendly and patient with my lack of Spanish skills. For the five of us, the bill was around $75. Very reasonable. No question, I'll be back. My taste buds demand it!!! read more

I ordered red chilaquiles & they were not chilaquiles it was like they used the red salsa for your food for the chilaquiles.. Hella spicy & it tastes like I was just eating soggy chips & salsa; it's over priced too.. For 2 chilaquiles plate & 1 soda was almost $60.00 read more

Great Mexican Food! Los tacos dorados y los chilaquiles son algunos de mis platillos favoritos.

Food is great here. Home made tortillas and the best spot for menudo. Service is a little slow but food is worth it.

It is closed. It has closed permanently, so there is no food, no service. You should be letting people know that it has permanently closed.

It was my first time coming here because I was recommended by a friend. I went up to the front to order (a tamal & a quesabirria) The old lady at the counter then charged me. The tamal was $3 on the menu and the quessabirria was $5. She proceeded to charge me $10. I brought it to her attention that it should have been $8 and I showed her the menu. She then tried to make an excuse and say that she charged an extra dollar for eating here. That's so dumb. I've never been to a place that charges you to eat at their restaurant. Like what ? My friend ordered 4 tamales with rice and beans. Her total was $24. Once again the tamales are priced at $3. 4x3=12 and the menu did not specify rice and beans being $12. We ordered our food at 10:50am, it is now 11:45am and we have not gotten our food which is inane because we were the only ones here. Two parties showed up after us and got their food before us. I had to go back to the counter to ask if our food was almost out. The lady got very defensive and started being really rude. I brought it to her attention that we were the only ones here and it had been an hour, as well as the fact that the other tables were served before us. She almost started yelling at me which was insane. She told me to deal with it. She said she had been to restaurants that and what wait 4 hours. I wonder where she dines LOL. Very bad customer service, wait, and cold food. Don't come here unless you want to be overcharged and given attitude for doing absolutely nothing. Will NEVER be coming here again. I wish I would have read reviews before, this place serves roaches in their tamales, glad I didn't get mine. read more

I always enjoy the pursuit of local business especially when it comes to mom and pop Mexican Food. On Mother's Day this place was bursting at the seams with the church crowd and people like me (non denominational)! That being said the verde chilaquiles were authentic with a nice tomatillo flavor. The corn tortillas were exceptional and probably the best corn I've had in a long time. Quick shout out to Nenas for the best flour tortillas in San Joaquin Valley hands down... In short I wanted to like the whole breakfast but unfortunately the rice and beans fell short of the mark. Also, just curious as to why there was a heaping scoop of mayo alongside the chilaquiles... No Bueno! read more

Had a good experience yesterday. The lady that rung me up and prepared the food was very nice. I was specifically looking for tacos de canasta and this was the spot that friends recommended in Stockton. They did not disappoint. read more

I went there and Hilda is known for overcharging people and sure enough she did it to me. Make sure you check your orders because she's known for overcharging. My tab was supposed to be $40 and I got charged $55?! Ridiculous read more

One of the best green chilaquiles I have ever had!! I love calling in the order for pick up. The food is delicious and has great size portions. The orders also come with a side of cut up bread! I have never had them that way before and it's delicious!! Must try!!! read more

Let me tell you the food is really good but the only thing I don't like is it is pricey for them to be serving a small portion I got the costillas en salsa and I got 5 small ribs and a very small portion of rice and beans. The service is good and other than small portions of servings for high prices it's good. read more

When you come inside you have to go to the counter and place your order. The owner is always here very friendly and pleasant. Music is always playing in the background. The food is so delicious! The chilaquiles are the best in town. I asked if the Chile Relleno had seeds inside. She said "No" but, they always say that at every restaurant I order from. First time ordering the Chile Relleno here and very delicious and NO SEEDS inside which is a huge for me. I don't like when you cut into a Chile Relleno and seeds are inside. That means that the Chiles weren't cleaned out. Highly Recommend !!!! read more

Before you go here just look at their health score. I don't know how this is still open. Went today and our coffee cups were nasty af we wiped them and the napkins turned brown we walked out,no wonder they've failed so many inspections. Walls are super dirty read more

Food was point, taste is very authentic and good size portions. The Bread they give you is very good, nice crunchy crust yet very soft inside and warm. Music playing in the background, I'm guessing Hilda greeting everyone that walks in, gives this place a homey feeling. I'd recommend this place and will definitely be back. read more

I have only been here once but based on the items I tried this is definitely the best and most authentic Mexican food I've EVER had. My coworkers and I placed a lunch order for p/u. Everything was ready when we got there and the order was correct so thumbs up for customer service! Now for the food...I had the Tacos de Canasta (basket tacos) which are corn tortillas dipped in a red chile sauce, filled with potatoes and chorizo and served with shredded lettuce and queso fresco on the side. AMAZING. Probably the best tacos I've ever had. Another dish I sampled was the Costillas de Puerco-pork ribs simmered in the most flavorful red sauce I've ever tasted. I also tried both the red and green salsas and both were fresh, spicy and full of flavor and the chips were hot and and crispy! Other coworkers tried the Al Pastor tacos, Al Pastor burrito and Chilaquiles Verde. I didn't sample any of these but they all loved their meals as well. And the price was great! Especially for the quality of the food-$54 for 6 people! I will most definitely be back to dine in and if the food is as good the next time around as it was the first I may be in love, lol. Just an FYI...this place may not be in the best section of town and it's certainly not fancy but once you taste the food you won't care! read more

Ordered 1 menudo and got told that I ordered 2 I didn't want to argue with the old lady she looked like she was about to start yelling at me lol so I bought both or should I have left them both ?? Na it's ok I just won't order over the phone anymore she don't hear very well.! Food is great no lie but needs someone else taking orders over the phone. read more

I thought Hilda's was delightful. The tortilla chips came out nice and hot. Everything was very spicy but good. The tamal was pretty good. I thought that the horchata was too grainy. The tacos were filling and flavorful. read more

I thought it would be good food but NO. The menudo smelled SO BAD and tasted discussing! No flavor! I also think it's unpleasant seeing how the owner fights over tips with the servers... very pushy environment. read more

Overpriced. Small child size portions. They don't give you chips & salsa or tortillas with your order. Menu states that beans and rice come with lunch entrees and when you order they tell you that you have to purchase it separately. $3 for a can of coke. No fountain drinks. Wouldn't go back. It also took forever to get our food. read more

Honestly the food at this place is decent I always come to get the Birria but , since day one that I set a foot on this place Their customer service is really poor, I believe is a family owned place , but the girls that serve your food they are always acting like , they are doing in us a favor They really don't realize that even do their food is ok It gets to the point that , the customer doesn't want to come back , I spoke with a waitress some time ago in regards of this , and she tell me that this is a constant Issues with this girls , but the owner just doesn't care Because don't do anything about it Time after time is the same , I have never ask their names But there's no way you are going to missed them There is only like 3 girls always there , I honestly will considering in the future to come here read more

I've given this place a few tries because the food is decent, the only problem every single time is the old lady with super rude attitude always making up her own prices overcharging me whatever she feels like, she says the menu is not updated and gets defensive when you ask her to break down the total because it never adds up and she won't give you a receipt, if you want customers to return it's time to retire the old lady because she is the only reason people don't want to come back. I'm never coming back solely because of her. read more

Food was great but if you are paying with credit card ask for the breakdown. I had huevos with machaca and my wife had chilaquiles verdes to drink my wife had canela and I asked for a fountain drink coke and they brought me out a 1/2 liter bottle , which I don't mind . What got my attention was the bill at the end. $29.16 As I payed attention on the front desk were you pay the cashier / owner I am thinking is just seemed like she was estimating the pricing of your meal since there was no form of showing what it was being charged . My receipt just had a total just like any other but I didn't see the total of the meals obtain on the order ticket. Any ways long story short I checked the pricing as I got home since one reviewer took pics of the recent menus and come to find out. I did get over charged. Even though the price says taxes included on the menu and on my receipt I got charged taxes again. This is defiantly not good for business and to have returning clients specially if it is your first time like it was for us. So sad , food was great too. But let with a bitter taste in the end. The amount of the bill is not the problem it's the principle of feeling like they are taking you for a fool. read more

This is one of those diamond in the rough places. You'll rarely find Mexican food this good from a restaurant short of visiting Mexico yourself. The place is family owned and you'll be supporting your local community when you eat here. The staff is friendly, the food isn't greasy, and the dishes are authentic and delicious. Hilda's is a delicious little spot in Stockton they has authentic Mexican food. The building is not the prettiest and is very tiny, but the food is good and the family who owns the restaurant is accommodating and friendly. I've never had a problem with the food, but everything is very inconsistent. One day the horchata was perfect, the next time it tasted completely different but was still good. The same thing had happened with their food. I would give it a chance, but if you fall in love with the tacos they may not taste the same the next time! read more

The food is delicious, it is like a home cooked meal. That is something that is hard to get from a restaurant, But they do a great job. The only downside is the wait. You will wait around 30 min. For your food. So if your in a rush, call in and order ahead. Otherwise the food is worth the wait. read more
