How did I not know TAP Sports Bar existed?…read more
TAP is basically what happens when a stadium, a fryer, and a casino have a baby; loud, chaotic, and somehow exactly what you needed.
I was fully invested in the Duke game because if they won, my bestie would be back in DC. So yes, I was out here cheering for the Boozer brothers like I was trying to get their mama a plane ticket.
Not wanting to deal with the National Harbor side, my friend suggested TAP and honestly, clutch move.
The struggle: a 30-45 minute wait for a table.
The plot twist: the to‑go line was just as long, and they'll shut it down if the kitchen gets overwhelmed. But it was available.
The pivot: the outdoor area was wide open. No bar, no servers, no crowd, just sunshine and empty plush seating and tables. So outside it is.
This worked perfectly because we both weren't drinking!
We ordered at the bar, grabbed our food, and watched the game outside like VIPs who chose peace over chaos.
Inside: TVs everywhere, sports blasting, people yelling at screens like the players owed them money. It's chaotic in the best possible way.
Service was friendly but slow but still, the staff somehow kept the whole place running like a well‑oiled machine in the middle of a sports‑fueled tornado.
Final verdict: Come hungry, come casual, and come patient. TAP is fun, filling, and exactly the kind of place you go when you want comfort food with zero pretension.
Now... let's get into it!
I went straight for the TAP Burger, as any self‑respecting burger monster would. And honestly? It understood the assignment. Juicy, messy (in a sexy way), and stacked like it's trying to win a televised food competition. The fries were crispy little overachievers, especially impressive considering they were trapped in a plastic container.
No pics because to go food isn't picture worthy out of the containers.
Highly recommend. This is officially my new spot for all things sports.
Plus, free parking. A no‑brainer. Find me here on game days! Perfect outdoor place to be!
