I've been coming here regularly now for over a year. My boyfriend and I get takeout breakfast every Sunday morning. They have a good amount of breakfast specials. I love their turkey sausage, and breakfast sandwiches, and delicious pancakes. Their half pound Cheeseburger Deluxe will satisfy even the hungriest of appetites. The coffee is hot and fresh. Everything is made to order. The portions are large, and the food is satifying. This place reminds me of how Mom and Pop Jersey diners used to be. No frills, just good food done well. I used to love eating here, but not anymore. Despite a sign saying masks are required for entry some employees either don't wear one or wear it improperly. Before you say anything about some people medically not being able to wear one, of course I get that, but then that person shouldn't be cooking food and in be in such close proximity with other people cooking. I also get that some standards have been relaxed a little, but this is disgusting. What makes it worse is that the person I got a picture of not wearing a mask is either the owner or the manager. Shame on you for setting a bad example for the people who work there and shame on you for posting a policy you don't even follow yourself. We've never gone in because when we pass it, we're usually on route home from Walmart, *twitching* and WAY too disturbed from what we've seen during our shopping trip... The diner is small. Quaint. Old school-looking. Low ceilings, two or four seater-booths, open kitchen (which I appreciate) and a 'Seat Yourself' system. Big menus were handed to us by a lovely waitress. Typical Diner Foods were listed, but the specials are highlighted in plastic-pocket sections. I ordered the Roman Combo; Garden salad, Chicken Parm with a side of penne a la vodka. I visited the Manville Diner for breakfast on Nov 10, 2023 at 8:30 a.m. There is a small parking lot in the back of the diner. There is additional parking on the street. Prices are reasonable and the diner gives generous portions. My grandmother and I had eggs with home fries and toast, we both agreed it was good. The coffee was also good and the waitress was friendly. The diner has been in Manville New Jersey since 1938, under different names throughout the years. The outside of the dinner looks like a regular building. Once you walk inside you are transported back to 1938. The diner from the inside looks like the inside of a train car. Long and narrow with a curved ceiling, the diner resembles an O'Mahony dining car with upgrades made through the years. I will definitely go back. read more

Finding this diner is such a comfort after moving to the area! This place is really just such a solid NJ diner and reminds me of some of my favorites in north Jersey. Came on a Sunday morning and there were a few tables available. The servers were all extremely friendly and on top of everything. I had a simple eggs, Taylor ham, home fries platter and everything was really good. The potatoes could be a little crispier, but that's just a personal preference! I was a very regular customer right up until the restaurant was recently sold. Under the old owners, I would have given it 5 stars. NEVER had a problem with staff or my food. I really enjoyed the food and friendly service. I am disabled so much of my dining is takeout/delivery. Since the new owners have taken over, I have not had a single takeout/delivery order that was correct. Tonight was the final straw when my Pizza Burger arrived with NO SAUCE! Are you serious?! This is about the 5th incident where my takeout order was incorrect. When I called about 2 weeks ago to place an order, I was told to hold on a sec. The girl put the phone down and never picked it back up. I got in my car and drove there and their phone was STILL sitting face down on the counter and I was still on it!! 45 minutes total. How do they not realize the phone is off the hook for 45 minutes?! When my son said he wanted to order from the Manville Diner tonight I tried to talk him out of it and told him something ALWAYS goes wrong and as history would have it, they messed up my food. He felt horrible! Tonight I got fed up and drove back to the restaurant and asked for a refund. They treated me as if I did something wrong and were nasty and unapologetic. They did ultimately give me back my money but not without me having to demand the 50 cents in tax I paid. Don't even get me started about the tip. Should have demanded that back too! I am done. Time to Eat Diner in Bridgewater is a little further but service is good, food is great and I've never had any issues. I was in the restaurant business for 45 years. Manville Diner is the definition of a vintage, diner car looking restaurant. When you walk in, you will immediately notice the retro vibes as there are only a handful of tables set up (around 20) with a counter and everything. Even though it is small, it does give off a nice community feeling. The service was very hospitable, and it was quick to order and receive our food. I got the breakfast sampler with three pancakes, sunny side up eggs, and a pork roll. The pancakes were solid. The three given to me were thin and fluffy and purposely made not to fill you up so you can eat the rest of the food. The eggs and pork roll were both delicious sides. The eyes were slightly fried the right way and the pork roll was cooked to perfection. My only complaint is the spacing. The restaurant spacing is fine for just being a diner but the booth spacing was very cramped and it was hard to comfortably fit my two plates of food as well as my family's food on the table. Neither a dive or a 5-star restaurant, this very small old-ish neighborhood diner is a good place for bacon and eggs or a tuna melt. It has a real retro feel with the old steel dining car exterior and cramped interior space. It's a reliable go-to of mine, and generally a bit cheaper than other area diners. Don't go here for a fine dining experience. Go here for a sandwich and coffee and a piece of pie. Street parking, and it would be a challenge to sit more than four people at a table. I've moved in last year and when I first came around I would say this diner was good. It took such a dive in a little over a year. Today it is worthy to write a review. Today for lunch I ordered two sandwiches on ww lightly toasted BLT Mayo in side. Loaded with terrible lettuce and loads of tomatoes and literally one piece of bacon. Second sandwich lightly toasted rye toast BLT mayo on the side and it had extra mayo on the sandwich and literally a lot of bacon. I didn't call and I have stayed away several times a long time but I am sick and didn't want to travel. So tonight I wanted a large chicken soup. All broth and nothing else. Literally 1/4 of the very large soup was pasta and no chicken and very little veggies. Are you a diner? Do you want customers? I mean come on now. I called up to complain and the manager wouldn't get on the phone. So the waitress was yelling across the room pretty loudly there is a complaint and the manager must of said what's the problem and not once but twice you can hear the waitress repeating herself and the manager never got on the phone. Wow!! Just wow. Terrible customer service. This place sucks. There are so many terrible stories to share but it is my mistake that I keep going back in hopes that it will get better. It won't!! Super Tasty Small Town Dinner! My wife and I made this our go to breakfast stop every Sunday for about 5 months straight. We haven't been in a while because we are saving up to buy a house but I got a craving out of nowhere, googled them, and decided to leave a review. The place has big portions of food delivered quickly and for a very reasonable price! The two of us get full with lots of eggs, bacon, potatoes, toast and coffee for about $18 after tax. They have specialty items too, like fancy pancakes and French toast that is really good too! Never been there for anything but breakfast, but the lunch/dinner menu looks good too. The servers were always very nice and speedy despite the place always being full when we go there. Oh, and don't think because its full and there's a line at the door, that you'll be waiting forever! The food comes out quick and tables open up fast. Longest time we ever had to wait was probably 8-10 minutes. Give the place a shot! read more

I know people rave about this place as a longtime established diner. The customer service was excellent, very courteous and welcoming. I was recommended to visit this place from a friend. My plan was to order something plain, like grilled chicken, however as you can see from the picture, doesn't look very appetizing. I did end up eating part of it, just never know until you try something...After having that and some fries & green beans, I decided that I wont be back. The quality of the food they serve you is pretty low. Our waitress today was fine for any diner. I saw a second waitress who seemed to be doing a good job as well. At 9:30 AM on a Friday, the place was packed. Just after we sat down, there was a line waiting for tables. I had my usual diner order - corned beef hash and eggs, with hash browns and toast. Food came out fast despite the crowd. Corned beef hash was OK and a huge portion. Plenty of hash browns which seemed to be cooked with way too little salt. I took half home for tomorrow. My wife's eggs were fine.
