Pictures of the hotel and communications trying to resolve the issues

I want to share a serious incident that happened to me at the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza on April 21, 2026. I was on official business travel. I had reservations at Embassy Hilton, I was moved to this hotel without my consent due to overbooking. After checking in with valid ID, I was later accused of fraud because the hotel attached the WRONG Hilton rewards account to my reservation. Instead of verifying the issue professionally, security dressed in plain clothes pounded on my door, refused to leave when I asked, and later took photos of me on his personal phone. I was told multiple times that police were on the way and that I was part of a "serious investigation." Multiple people were involved, I asked numerous times what the issue was. The manger said the police would explain more when they get there. I told them I had chest pains and I needed to know what was going on and they did nothing but to continue to question me. I asked the manager if I could show him my travel orders and my work id and he goes upstairs with me to my room and his face turns so red, but he continues to tell me the police is coming. I even told him a coworker was on sight that could identify me and they said they didn't want to involve more people. After HOURS of stress and confusion, the hotel admitted it was THEIR mistake. This is not just bad customer service--this is a failure in safety, judgment, and accountability. Had the nerve to say they will use this as training. The hotel was so dirty. No guest should be treated like this. @HiltonHotels -- this deserves more than a simple apology.

This is a classic Hilton hotel property in downtown Cincinnati. We stayed here to attend a Detroit Lions game/ Bengals game. It's a great location within walking distance to Paycor Stadium. Built in the 1930's, this hotel is well maintained and in good shape. The standard queen bed guest room is fairly small but clean and comfortable. The small sweet desert shop was closed during our stay and we didn't have an opportunity to eat at the main dining / lounge adjacent to the main lobby. Parking is located in a parking garage next door and to the hotel for $35/day or you can utilize valet parking at a higher daily rate if you choose. ($50). There are a couple of decent restaurants within walking distance for both breakfast and dinner. The staff at the front desk were pleasant and professional.

    Plaster falling off walls

This place has such potential to be amazing, and assume it really was in its glory days but it just isn't anymore. You can tell they are just trying to make money but not spend it. Our first room was on the 25th floor. It was a 2 bathroom suite. The moment you walked in it just smelled musty and moldy. The bedroom bathroom toilet leaked from the base with each flush, flooding the floor, and soaking carpet outside of bathroom. Walls had previous water damage that was never fixed. Walls had old splatters of soda maybe and inches of dust on wiring and tables. They moved us to 21st floor same set up and the same smell accosted you as soon as enter room. Several side tables had layers of dust, the bedroom bathroom had no hot water and the bathtub faucet had a continual drip. There was long black hairs stuck to wall behind rusty toilet that were not ours. The second bathroom did have hot water but tub didn't drain well. The living room had uncleaned but cleanable drink splatters on tables and legs of table. There was a nasty thick black eww around edge of Coffee table glass. The mirror on wall had liquid splatters on it, so cleaning is obviously not a priority. I accidentally deleted the pictures of the major water damage this room had on ceilings and down the wall. Plaster was missing on ceiling and wall paper peeling away. The smoke detector was rusty from the water damage and the bedroom closet had same water damage. The light fixture in closet had rust on it as well from water and hall light didnt work at all. I looked up the owner to write them about this problem but Google says the owners have defaulted on $80Mil to bank, so bank is just keeping it open to try and recoup their investment. The lobby from a distance looks amazing, but look long enough it has same water damages and need for repair. They have a neat mall on lower levels but it is mostly abandoned and mass amounts of water damage and disarray. This building has great placement downtown and looks good from outside and has such amazing potential, but it is not being maintained and you will probably get black mold in your lungs staying here.

Have you ever heard anyone use the word "gross" to describe a Hilton? Well, now you have. The Cincinnati Netherland Plaza was disgusting. Traveling to Cincinnati from Atlanta, I actually drove around the parking lot of a motel, exited the parking lot and drove farther down the road because I figured that motel couldn't be the one I was looking for. Even that one was cleaner than this Hilton. I am not exaggerating. Given there is a lot of construction going on outside, there is a lack of signage to let passers by know they're walking past the Hilton. Luckily, there is a slovenly looking employee hunched over his phone who almost looks up to say "yeah" when you ask him if this is the Hilton. The young woman checking me in didn't seem to think friendliness was necessary, as it wasn't on the docket when I was checking in. I felt like I was bothering her, to tell the truth. Once past Hilton Cincinnati's B-team, I got to the room and saw things weren't going to get any better. I think Hilton bought this place a long time ago and kept the carpet from the original owner, because there was no way I was walking around without shoes on. Luckily I wore flip-flops on the drive, but I WAS IN A HILTON, and I didn't want to take my shoes off. Luckily it was only two nights, but unfortunately it was for two nights. Without even looking for it, I'm tipped off that the ceiling is caving in because there are whitish chips of paint on the carpet. Look up, and there are chunks of paint on the ceiling about to fall off. In all fairness, it DID get my attention off the carpet for a brief moment. There was a panel high up on the wall with... goop(?) creeping out from around the edges. If I'd have seen the wrong horror movie recently, I can't say I'd have been able to sleep in that room. Some movies have started off with that very scene. I'm guessing the bedding is the same as the carpet. Standard sheets and $5 pillows bought in the 70's still being used. Yup, they came with the place. I couldn't take an automatic photo out of the window because it was so dirty I couldn't force the camera to take a photo of anything else besides the crud on the window. I can't say for sure what was going on with the shower head. It can't rust, and it wasn't mold. Let's just say I wouldn't have licked it on a dare. It definitely hadn't been cleaned since the last time the woman who checked me in smiled at a guest. Then there was the mold. And I touched it. I TOUCHED IT! I got curious because the bathroom was painted by someone who was given three minutes to paint it without any prep work. Real Hilton quality. I was wondering if they got it on the blinds. But when I ran my finger across it, it smudged. It ooked me out so much. It was so gross. Then there was the piece de resistance for the bathroom. Before I opened the bathroom door, I noticed a long hair on the door. My hair, before I get it cut, might get to a couple of inches. This was five plus inches long. Gross. Despite Hilton's every attempt to make my Cincinnati stay as miserable as possible, I enjoyed myself. I did want to let management know that their room was more disgusting than a $75 room in a hippie motel that I'd stayed in the night before (to those hippie's credit it was actually very clean). Here's where it gets even better! The manager, I was told by the woman during checkout, doesn't get in until 9AM! On a Sunday! When half the hotel has vacated! The manager comes in! And the woman checking me out didn't want to hear a word I had to say. And honestly, I was so angry, I couldn't even tell you whether she smiled. Look at all the negative reviews Hilton has here, and look at their replies. Crickets. Hilton is about money. I'm sure they'd love all their hotels to be this simple to run.

The location of the hotel is perfect for downtown life. You can catch the 2X bus from CVG, and it lets you off RIGHT IN FRONT of the hotel. Walking distance to Paycor and Great America stadium. You're around may eateries and transit bus options. The hotel is from the 1930's. So it is very dated. If you're into vintage, you'll like it. But if you're into modern lodging, this isn't the place for you. Cost is a little more than I'd like to pay, but you can not beat the location.

You aren't going to get this level of craftsmanship again.

They don't make them like this anymore. That's an awful thing because this hotel is an Art Deco masterpiece! I found myself just ogling the common areas. Absolutely beautiful and well-maintained. It is a step back in time that you're not going to experience almost anywhere else in town. That's a good thing because the hotel is also out of its time. For all its beauty, they've done very little to get good-functioning Wi Fi. The conference areas are less than optimal as the enormous weight is well-supported by sturdy, thick columns that limit visibility. The restaurant/bar is gorgeous. And expensive if you go on a weekend. Weekdays are more affordable and I wish I'd jumped on that menu pricing when I had the chance so I could have settled in and filled my tummy in that museum. The mall that attaches itself to the hotel is virtually empty and pretty depressing, but its just a few steps away from the lobby. If you are a fan of the Art Deco style, you NEED to stop in here whether you stay or not.

Amazingly beautiful hotel... art deco architecture from 1930s....worth the stay ... the elevator doors are raised, etched art deco designs and original elevators with a modern interior... recall electrical panels that tracks each floor and indicators that say this elevator up and down....theres a piano player on evenings in the dining room with raised ceiling with Al fresco paintings and fanned upholstered booths and central bar illuminated with glass etched lighting. Amazing. It's downtown so parking is somewhat challenging but traffic is fine it's not at all like LA or NY traffic. Park 2 doors down in parking garage (must know)... Hilton entrance on 2nd floor connected to small mall. Elevator will go up or down even though buttons don't look that way. Rooms are modern comforts of Hilton. The toilet is period/modern that has the foot or hand lever to flush. Location is great and central to everything including the 2 stadiums!! Met Gina hotel manger walking around and talking to guest. She was very welcoming and let me know about the printout with all the hotel history. Pick that up and walk the hotel. Servers were great at breakfast including waitress and nice waitor pouring water. Will definitely stay here again!

Beautiful historic hotel open in 1931. Marble. Wood. Beautiful carpets. Art deco. Mellow piano and singer at the huge '30s oval bar. We walked all over the floors. Loved it. Lots of stairs, but take the elevator. Valet parking was full and not accommodating, tho lots of spots were seen. So we park at the 3CDC garage, which was a short walk, safe and cheaper. Our bellman, Timothy, was wonderful. Told us about the hotel. Was very polite, like a southern gentleman. He met us at the front door, tho the sign said no parking. Others did the same, turning on the car blinkers. Recommend staying at this Hilton, and parking at 3CDC.

Normally, I find hotel food is just okay and nothing special, but Coppin's was a pleasant surprise. We were greeted by a very friendly hostess, and our equally pleasant server quickly brought menus and asked what we would like to drink. When it was my turn, I happily ordered Coppin's Old Fashioned. I was the odd man out because everyone else ordered the Spring Manhattan. Judging by how quickly everyone's drinks disappeared, I'd say they were all very tasty. I was a little unsure about mine at first, so to make sure the quality and taste were consistent, I ordered a second, and it definitely was not a mistake. I ordered the B+G biscuits (which are made by hand according to server in the hotel) and gravy with an extra egg. Others at the table chose a variety of dishes, including the CVG, Cobb Salad, Bagel and Lox, and several other selections. Based on the clean plates all around the table, everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. My wife ordered a sample of banana bread, and I was fortunate enough to snag a small bite, it was excellent. After we had all finished, everyone agreed that my niece had made an excellent choice for her graduation celebration brunch. As my wife and I made our way back to Louisville, we both commented that we would definitely return the next time we were in Covington.

I ended up being in the North Building and cracked up when I walked into my room and saw I was in one of the Lightwell Lofts (a few of us ended up in them by chance, guess they included them in our room block lol). While the room was super cool and beautiful, there was a lot to be desired. After taking a million photos of the gorgeous room, I quickly realized a major flaw - the bedroom is upstairs, the bathroom is downstairs, and the staircase between the two is a crazy narrow spiral staircase. As someone that gets up to pee in the middle of the night, having to traverse the spiral stairs was terrifying lol. One of my coworkers actually swapped with someone who had a "normal" room because he was worried about falling down the stairs. My downstairs tv wouldn't turn on. I fiddled with the remote a bit, tried rearranging the batteries, but couldn't turn it on. I used the ipad in the room to put in a maintenance request, but no one came. I figured I would just let the front desk know when I headed out to dinner that night. Hours later, the front desk calls me to see if anyone had come to fix the tv - they hadn't. The girl was very nice and apologetic, she said I sent the request in the middle of a shift change and someone had accidentally marked it as complete. So she said someone would be right up, and he did come up. Handed me a handwritten note and a $25 coupon for Coppin's which was totally unexpected and a very nice gesture. Turned out, he knew exactly what the problem was - he said the remote was broken and he was supposed to swap it out but forgot. Gave me a new remote and all was good. He also mentioned there is a second remote upstairs for that tv. After he left, I went to look for it - there was no second remote. We held our meetings in the Scheper Room, which was also beautiful. The room was absolutely freezing the first day and I'm someone that prefers it a touch colder and was uncomfortable. We had to get them to update the thermostat and then in the afternoon it was way too hot. We had food brought in from the hotel and it was all fine, nothing super memorable. There was soup at lunch but the sign didn't even say what it was - just "chef's choice." The Italian hoagies were way too big and needed to be cut in half, I couldn't even finish half of one. The salad with fruit/pecans/etc was my favorite though. They had the completely wrong password on the tables for the Wifi but thankfully we figured it out quickly that we just had to use the room password. The second day for breakfast, there was yogurt on the menu and even on the sign with all the food - but there was no yogurt. Some of my coworkers were specifically asking for yogurt so we had to request it directly because it was included and paid for. Box lunches to take to go on the second day which were fine, I had the chicken caesar salad wrap. Housekeeping didn't come to service my room until 5pm when I was in there getting ready for dinner, so I was not able to get the room serviced. Just asked them for some more coffee. My conditioner in the shower was empty but I didn't bother reporting it after the tv issue and I had my own conditioner with me, so used that. The lotion at the sink was so thick that I could not get it out of the bottle at all, I had to use q-tips to get it out (it was nice quality, just kinda useless if you can't get it out of the bottle lol). Great local offerings on the mini bar and in the fridge. My coworkers and I got a kick out of the "intimacy kits" because we were on a business trip haha. The Magic 8 ball was fun, I loved the conversation cards even though I just read a few of them to myself haha. Even with the bedroom upstairs, it was nice to have the big double closet in the bathroom hallway so I really was just in the loft to sleep and kept all my stuff downstairs. The location is great, lots of fun stuff right nearby. The courtyard is lovely. I would say this is a solid 3.5 stars but since we can't give half stars, I'll give it a 4 because the staff was overall very nice and quickly fixed any issues, just a little annoying that we had any issues at all.

So my Bookings app brought up this place, which is close to the ballpark. So I booked it for 6/3. When I got there I was told there would also be a parking fee. It is what it is. I was given a room up high, maybe floor 13. Lucky me! I will note the view is the best part of this hotel. My view was of I75, meh, but it's still nice to look from above at cars and trees. I would have loved a view of the Cincinnati skyline, though. Well the vibe of the place is dark and there are warning signs about car break ins so I brought everything inside. The elevator was interesting but pretty small and the ride was shaky. When I got to the room it looked ok but definitely not that bright and welcoming. I thought a perk would be to go out on the balcony and check out the view. Unfortunately, the door was locked and the door wouldn't budge. I was able to see out the windows, but they could use a good scrubbing on the outside. I reminded myself that I wasn't there for the room I was there for ribs and baseball so didn't spend much time in that room. I was able to make it to ballpark and park then walk to the rib house and back to ballpark by the 2nd inning. I returned back to the hotel after stopping at the Plum Street Cafe which is near the 4th and Plum where I once lived. Driving back, however, my app sent me around downtown Covington until I realized I needed to turn in an unmarked alley by the gas station to enter the lot. To quote Run DMC It's tricky, tricky, tricky! I headed back to the room and then a darkish walk to the ice machine. I really think this place could use some updates or cut the price point from $152 to $75. The halls also echo in the night. On my billing statement that just came from Amex it indicated that I stayed there on 6/2 instead of 6/3. I didn't take many pictures since there are plenty online already. They were short staffed and i had to run down to the front desk for shampoo and hand soap but the staff was really kind. The room needed more attention we did find some a chip bag under a night stand and the windows needed cleaned. Other than small inconveniences that did not affect our stay, we had a plethora of towels, the ac was powerful and the shower water was nice and hot. The beds were extremely comfortable as well. We used the pool, which is small but warm. I received two drink tickets as well. The evening reception was a nice touch. My kids got free nonalcoholic drinks, some snacks, crackers cheese, veggie tray, sweets and chips and salsa. We were still full from lunch which was walking distance from the hotel. Breakfast was actually phenomenal. A whole room of food and made to order omelets. Breakfast staff was also really attentive and kind. Parking is $12 if you don't need to leave otherwise it's $22. My kids really enjoyed the staycation as did I.

We arrived early hoping that we could check into our rooms but they had been full the night before. We requested a low floor for my elderly parents and just gave up at 4:30 and took the first available room. After check in, I needed to park my oversized truck. I was directed to oversized lot behind the property. Once I pulled into the lot I see a sign but many of the spaces also had old faded signs that said "No Parking". I parked next to one of my relatives two spaces away from on one of the signs. My brother in law also found a space on the opposite end of the row near one of the signs. We go up to our room and unload our stuff and the door to the bedroom just falls off after I close it. We call maintenance and after a couple hours they finally fix it. The AC at this place is on blast. Even if you turn off the thermostat it will still keep blowing. The TV's act as though they are stealing cable. Every 5 minutes the TV will blank out and sometimes power off or they will constantly say "No signal". There was a TV in the dinning area that was doing something similar. They had football games on from last season and you couldn't watch because it kept scrambling. The next day, I'm sitting next to my cousin on a trolly on our way to a museum and she gets a call that her truck had been towed that morning. This was the vehicle I parked next to. My vehicle had also been towed. I talked with security at the building that I discovered actually owned the parking lot and they informed me that I had parked in an unmarked loading dock. They also mentioned that they had sent someone over to the hotel to have us move the vehicles but because the hotel doesn't ask for license plates when they charge you for parking, there was no way to find us. For some reason they did ask us what state the vehicle was registered in. $180 and a $20 Uber. I asked to speak to a manager but he wasn't scheduled to come in until 4pm. At 4:30 I come down to talk and the desk attendant gives me the run around. She hands me the number of the building that actually owns the lot and says to call them. Apparently the manager must have been hiding in his office listening to the whole conversation. Right after that the he comes out and attempts to give me the same number. Then he refuses to discuss the matter with me. I then demand that he take the parking off my room since he refuses to take any ownership of the problem. He gets in front of the computer and says its been removed. After the exchange Brian one of the nicer desk clerks walked out and spoke with me in private to try to deescalate the situation. I appreciate his efforts. The condition of the property made sense after trying to speak with the manager. Later we learned that the actual over sized lot is further down an alley and not where the sign is (See pics). That night my wife and I are sitting at the bar and decide to order food. I ask the bar tender if we can charge the food to our room. We get our food and the bar tender also hands me the bill. I charge it to my room and probably spend another hour at the bar. I eventually go to my room and my cousin calls me and says that they charged them for my food. I come down to take care of the bill and the same bar tender I spoke with tells me she said yes but that the other bar tender spoke to me and told me they couldn't charge my room. The conversation with the other bar tender never happened. Later we learned that their system was down and that's why they couldn't charge rooms. The next morning I go to eat breakfast and its horrible. The omelet station's line is out into the seating area. I decide to just get some buffet items. There isn't enough utensils so all they had were forks. The staff kept running around gathering up the plates in order to quickly rewash the utensils. Its not the workers fault that management doesn't prepare for the volume of people booked for the property. Saturday afternoon we return back to our room and it hasn't been cleaned. We call down to the front desk and they say that they will send someone up but that never happened. My wife was not happy. On Sunday this circus was finally over. I check out and you guessed it. The parking was never taken off my bill. I tell the desk person the whole history of the towing incident and she eventually takes it off my bill. I checked my Hilton Honors points this morning and low and behold there's no record of this stay (3 rooms). This place is no good. Avoid at all costs!

Showers had decent water pressure and the room was pretty comfortable. Television offered plenty of things to watch including some movie channels. Forgot to lock my door and one night at around 3am, somebody entered our room!!! First time in my life I didn't lock my hotel room. Person who entered politely apologized for the mishap but it was unnerving. Remember: always double lock your hotel rooms. Breakfast buffet is typical Hampton Inn and does the job but isn't memorable. Although it looks worn out, bones of the building are good and rooms comfy. Would stay here again.

So we had work come up again this year! This time it would be a two week stay !! There have been some changes since we last were there !! Rooms are great !! The service at the front deck is the worst !!! I'm not picky !! They were rude mean and so unprofessional- help !! I don't think the word help is in their vocabulary!! So if you stay here be prepared to be on your own!!! Terrible customer service all around. We moved to the Hilton around the corner - about the same price and wow a world of difference- you do have to pay for breakfast there and the rooms are a bit older - but wow what a nice place - do yourself a favor and look elsewhere!!

On the plus sign, valet, front desk, and all personnel are customer focused. Building was renovated in the past 10 years, and all details are lovely. Extremely clean. Rooms are large and very luxe. Room service was perfect in every way. So why not 5 stars? We love the rooftop bar and that played a huge roll in getting us here. But all three nights we were here it was closed for private events. I hope the events are making them a lot of money, because it can cut into their basic customer base. I will be checking to see if the rooftop is open before booking here in the future. One other small complaint...our room was never serviced until late afternoon when we needed to get ready for dinner. Turn down service (including chocolates) on first day only. That made me sad.

A little out of the way and yet close walking distance to everything. They also provide free limo service within 5 miles. Handy for any Over the Rhine excursions. The staff is excellent - from the valets to the chef. I wish I remembered the name of our waitress for Subito dinner on May 19. She was one of the best ever. This was a truly memorable celebration spot.

Great location and comfortable hotel!…read more This is my first time staying in this hotel, and I would rate it a solid 4. Located in downtown Cincinnati near the Fountain Square, this hotel is in a excellent location close to many restaurants, landmarks, and the free tram. When we arrived in our Lyft, the bell men came out immediately to help us unload our luggages. The check in was a breeze and we got adjacent rooms on the same floor. The hotel has a decent gym in the basement, a restaurant on the second floor serving casual meals, and a 24 hour convenient store offering candies, beverages, and even umbrellas. As for the room, it was spacious with good storage space, comfortable bed, and a bathroom with a nice shower. Our room rate was $149 a night, and it was discounted due to long term stay over 3 nights). Wonderful hotel with reasonable prices and everything you need. Will return!

Overall, I had a good experience and would stay here again, but it did have its pros and cons. I'll start with the cons because they were minimal... The valet was understaffed and it impacted my ability to get in and out when needed. They have a great texting system for contacting (and tipping) valets ahead of time and were upfront about asking to give them at least 30 minutes notice. Well, I did that and it still wasn't enough time. One time I notified them well in advance and my car was there, but I ended up waiting at least another 10 minutes for the valet to come back from getting another car before I could get my key. This meant it was upwards of 45 minutes of me waiting. Not ideal. The other con was that the room I was assigned the first night had the loudest humming sound coming from the bathroom that kept me up all night long. It wasn't the white noise that you can usually drown out either. I ended up using a sound machine app on my phone and it still didn't help. I called down to get a new room, which they were happy to do, even upgraded me, but I found it odd when they said they are aware of the issue, there just doesn't seem to be anything they can do about it. As for the pros... The location is prime time baby! Right downtown near restaurants, bars, coffeeshops, and the stadium, etc. It was very easy to get to being right off the major interstates that run through Cincy. Their staff were incredibly friendly. I wandered down to the marketplace in the lobby late one night to get a bottle of water and they gave it to me for free. Much appreciated! My rooms (plural since I had to be moved) were extremely clean, spacious, and comfortable. Both had a nice view, too. As I mentioned before, I would stay here again. I visit Cincy roughly two times a year for work, so I have no doubt I'll be back.
