Traveled to stay here for a family wedding this past weekend, The location-Fantastic! The room-Great! The Wedding- Beautiful! The Elevators- Ridiculous, let me explain. 4 elevators in a building with 27 floors. 5 or 6 are open to public, or used for events. 1 elevator was broke. Keycards are required to get to room floors (loved this) but catching one that's not full to get on depends upon time of day. it's is after 9pm they close one elevator for the 27th floor night bar and it goes 1 & 27 that's it. That left two elevators running for all guests. Normally took a lot of waiting. When leaving the wedding it took MULTIPLE(8+) time waiting for an elevator to be able to leave the 3rd floor to get to 15 because we had wedding stuff with us and was trying to be respectful of others space finally had one come by with less than 6 ppl in it! Give yourself 30 mins to struggle with the elevator if you're going for a special event, or a booked reservation anywhere. read more

They've got a great appetizer and wine list for you to choose from the music was perfect. The service was great. While the room was fine. Everything else I booked this hotel for was not. Rooftop is a clusyer to get up to, if you can get up there. I was told it closes at 11p the first night, and turns into a club Friday and Saturday and closes later. So to my surprise, the first night I tried to to go up at 10:15, I couldn't because they cut elevator access off at 10pm. 2nd night, I couldn't get into the other area because of a private event. The final night at 9pm, I tried again and was told told they dont open to the public until 9:30p or 10p. WHAT?! According to the website its open on Saturdays 11am to 2am. No break. My first night when I couldn't get up to the roof, I tried the restaurant downstairs. Also closes at 11pm. 10:20, hostess says they just called last call. I said cool I can order a drink. She said no they just called last call. I went back and forth with her and gave up and checked with the desk and they said they close at 10:30p. Then someone else said they close at 11:00pm but will call last call at 10:30 to help with the kitchen. and then confirmed, well they closed a little early that night. If you're thinking you'll get rooftop access or anything here. Look elsewhere. read more

Pretty dismal experience. Theme of our stay was LATE. Arrived at 4:00 on the dot for checkin. However we had to sit in the lobby for 20 minutes because our room was not ready. So we sat there watching dozens of people get metal detected before going to the rooftop. So we were LATE to where we needed to go. Ordered $100 of room service. It was LATE so I called to cancel. Lady on the phone was rude, told me no and hung up on me mid sentence. I wasn't able to eat my share because well, it was LATE. Wife said her food simply wasn't good regardless. Something as simple as butter and jelly for the toast wasn't provided. Arrived back between meetings. Stood out front and in the lobby for over 15 minutes to try and give my keys to the valet attendant. No one was anywhere to be found. Wouldn't answer calls from the front desk. They finally took my keys then some dude chased me down saying they can't keep them and I have to keep waiting. Oh this made me LATE to my next meeting. $89 a day for poor performance was not worth it. I would 100% suggest parking yourself or a block over at London house. They always have 4+ attendants. Help with luggage and doors etc. oh and it's CHEAPER. We appreciated the room upgrade. The room itself was okay. It wouldn't get below 71 degrees and got upwards of 76 degrees during the day. Even with the shades closed. For as much as we spent, I would expect a lot more. Rooms were fine, but the service, in all aspects was not. read more

Stayed here over the weekend and had a pleasant experience. The rooms are decently big with a modern interior decor. There was no closet but instead a large wardrobe. Room came with a mini fridge which was nice. Had a river view which also added a nice touch. The bed was comfy and room was clean. The rooftop bar was closed one of the nights for a wedding. There is currently construction happening right outside which causes for a good amount of traffic and uber had to go a round about way to get there but never had issue getting picked up or difficulty finding them. read more

Modern, trendy boutique hotel that is in a great location for exploring the city on foot or going to the Chicago theater for a show. Great customer service, and there is a rooftop bar that serves good drinks. Would stay here again for the location and clean rooms. read more

Located in the theater district in downtown Chicago, the Wit is a great place to stay for dining entertainment and exploring the Loop. From the O'Hara airport I took the blue line train to downtown getting off at Clark/Lake St station. From there The Wit was a quick 10 minute walk. My room offered sn amazing viewing of the skyscrapers and glimpse of the river. My room was quiet at night even with the "L" train rumbling below. The hotel has an amazing rooftop bar offering a great view to the South and West loop. Drink and food prices were average for a downtown establishment ranging from $10 for beers and $20 for cocktails. There is another restaurant and bar located on the ground floor level also offering elevated pub food in a dimly lit atmosphere. Drink prices were similar to the rooftop ranging from $10-20. In the morning coffee and tea is located in the lobby for hotel guests. Overall I had a brief but nice stay at The Wit, and look forward to staying again in the future. Enjoy!!! read more

I truly enjoyed my stay here(room 2504). It was my birthday week, and Prince truly made it special. I want to emphasize that Prince is an asset to the property! His warm demeanor made me overlook the cons I faced. I was also able to meet the manager Lidiya, who also left a great impression. I can not say the same about the night auditors.. they def need a hospitality refresher because they were dead and rude. No personality besides the attitude and very dismissive. On the 14th a bald-headed black man and a heavy-set black woman who did not care to acknowledge my questions or conversation. Not only did I feel like I was talking to a brick wall but also that I was bothering their screen time. The other black lady who worked by herself on the 15th of Jan did not want to help me so much, she told the bellmen/valet guys to help me when I left my phone in my uber... I asked to use the front desk, and she told me, "to go over there"... I'm truly disgusted by the older women in Chicago but esp disgusted that Hilton hired these 3 people to represent their brand. Maybe it's my fault for thinking I was going to get southern hospitality. Anyway, If I was HR or the FOM, I would look into them. Restaurant is comfortable, clean, and spacious. They have a bfast, lunch, and dinner menu. Menu is decent. I loved that they had a different soup every day. Didn't try anything besides the lobster one and i loveeeed it. The ribs I bought... can't say the same for that. The slaw that came with is was also disgusting. I wouldn't call that slaw. Loveeed the peach on a platform. I seriously got that every day!!! Servers and the same host I seen every time I went to were sweethearts. I do wish I was able to dine at the rooftop but I wasn't there for the weekend. The small glimpse I did see was beautiful! Location is honestly perfect. Right next to walgreens, 7/11, Ross, Chic-fil-a, Giordan, a plaza that has many stores like nordstom, zara, Aritzia. A fantastic hotel! Got to stay at the Wit for the first time on a guys trip downtown for March Madness and it did not disappoint. Within walking distance of tons of great bars and restaurants this was a great location. Not to mention a bar/restaurant in the hotel! I was so disappointed in this hotel. This was out of our normal price range but I thought the location was wonderful and it is. The other disappointments were just too much. The expensive charge for the Val-let 86.00 I was told I'd be text them my room was ready. I was never text I just couldn't wait any long and came to the front desk to ask. One of the reasons I booked the hotel was for the roof top. We were told it was a private event ALL night. We were given many mixed directions. I felt they just didn't want US!!! Eventually after much complaining they let us up and again I don't think they wanted us. Many of the staff were not just unfriendly but almost rude. I did appreciate Erik from the Vallet. He was professional and welcoming. No coffee in the morning. It rang out and they were not going to refill it. The room was average. theWit Chicago is an exceptionally nice Hilton branded hotel located right in the middle of everything in Chicago. We were able to walk to nearly all of the downtown attractions. The staff was very quick and friendly to handle any issues not that there was many.. The inside decor is absolutely gorgeous as well as the decor in the rooms. For me a nice long, warm shower is always appreciated at the end of the day and not once did I run out of hot water and it even got a little hot at times. theWit also has one of the nicest rooftop bars you can go to. It is divided into two sections, one more of a true lounge area overlooking the city and the other a sit down style with the bar relatively close to you. The night we were there there was a DJ playing music at just the right noise level for the crowd that was in there loud enough to give that party vibe, but not so loud that people were having to yell and not enjoy themselves. They also had some extremely tasty drinks up there. The only downside as with most downtown hotels in Chicago is $82 a night to valet. read more

The Godfrey Hotel is a ok hotel, but for the price I paid, I honestly wouldn't recommend it. There are several things that didn't meet my expectations. One of the biggest issues was the lack of a microwave. Microwaves are not included in the rooms, and even when you try to rent one, they have a limited amount available. We weren't able to get one during our stay, which was inconvenient. The spa is listed as one of the amenities, but it is not included with your stay and comes with an expensive extra cost. The food was also disappointing -- it was just okay and not what I expected for a hotel at this price point. The shower was another problem. While the water gets hot, the shower floor feels poorly designed, almost like a gym floor, and water gets everywhere. It made the bathroom experience frustrating. Housekeeping was decent -- they came in and cleaned the room, so that part was fine. Some of the walls were damaged, which made the room feel less well-kept than expected. The TV, however, felt outdated. It was a Samsung TV that was slow and did not have Apple Play or newer smart features. The pillows were also hit or miss; some were comfortable, while others were not. The robes are not guaranteed in every room, which was disappointing. Overall, the hotel has a nice atmosphere and appearance, but the experience did not match the amount of money I paid. For the price, I expected better amenities, updated rooms, and more convenience. read more

The staff here were all super helpful and friendly, and definitely started my stay off well. The room had a very weird mismatch of furniture styles, and also seemed to waste a lot of space. With all the empty space in the room, it would have been nice to have a closet that was large enough to hang longer things. The food in the hotel was overpriced and underwhelming, but the bar and wait staff were all great. This hotel is overall not bad, with a good location, but it could just be a lot more. For the team dinner, the staff decided on Roof on the Wit. At first glance, the restaurant looked nice and classy. The giant screens played animated scenes. The atmosphere felt like a high end club. For dinner some of us ordered sushi, pepperoni pizzas, salads and alcoholic beverages. I ordered an unsweetened ice tea. The sushi tasted delicious. My coworkers, managers and I went out to celebrate after a long day of training. We needed to relax. The only caveat came from the ventilation kept dripping water. So we moved to the center of the restaurant. At least the seating gave us more space allowed more circulation. Being the first time that I went there, I will probably go back to theWit. read more

I cancelled a rescevation due to illness and was told by front end manager Lydia she would take care of the charge. The following day, I noticed the charge on my credit card for almost $200. I called front end manager Zachery who was VERY rude and refused to reverse charge, then hung up on me. I called Hilton and was informed the franchisee can do what they want! we are retired and are on a fixed income. We travel frequently and use Hilton properties. We are very disappointed in the way this was handled. There are MANY nice hotels in the Loop. I recommend you use another property. read more

Great location, steps from the Chicago theater and in the middle of everything. Easy walk to the river, shopping, trains, etc... Very convenient in that regard. Staff were friendly and personable. The bed was average, not bad but not great either. Awesome views from our corner suite, looking down on the elevated train and out on the skyline. The suite living room looked impressive but the carpet and furniture is showing wear from parties. One of the couch cushions had a stain covering half of the seat. The carpet and arm chair were also stained. The living room has adjoining doors to bedroom suites on either side, one ours and one not ours. The neighbors next door were loud and at times easily heard through the closed adjoining door. read more

Our stay at TheWit Chicago was truly outstanding. The hotel is located on the L (noise was not an issue) at State and Lake. Although the adjacent State & Lake station was demolished a couple of months ago and will eventually be replaced, the next nearest L station was only about two blocks away. The hotel and rooms are nicely decorated. We were greeted by Beatriz, who checked us in early and upgraded our room as Diamond Hilton Honors members to a one-bedroom spa suite. Beatriz's friendliness, courtesy, helpfulness, and professionalism turned out to be the norm for the entire staff, not only at the front desk, but also housekeeping, engineering (we had a small technical issue that was quickly addressed), the concierge, and the restaurant. Speaking of the restaurant, a special shout out to Milthon who took great care of us at breakfast each morning. Each time we returned from touring, we were warmly welcomed back by the staff in the lobby. I have stayed at Hilton properties all over the world and was among one of the best stays I have experienced. Kudos to the entire team and their management who clearly lead by an example of excellence. read more

The staff were friendly enough. The location is good, and the spa was nice! However, the rooms need work- the bolt on the hotel room door was broken, which doesn't give a good sense of security. The bathroom door was broken so that it was easy to get locked inside the bathroom! The amenities were, well, none, and the toilet paper and tissues were like cardboard. When I got ready to leave I couldn't find my uber, he spotted them parked across the street and walked with me. I felt so safe! Security is very rude & unprofessional. I was yelled at & disrespected by security when disrespect was never given. I addressed the encounter I had with the "manager" & of course excuses was given. I want to make an update on my review. This time around we did get the room we wanted but. I'm not sure if they do inspections on these rooms I'm going to post a video of the tub it was very difficult for me to turn the knob for the cold water. This was a room on the 8th floor. In general I am pretty satisfied with the stay. One thing I like most is the bold, creative designs in the hotel, from lobby to guest room to rooftop. Second, the gym was also clean and equipped with everything I need. The location is also great, convenient for me to go almost everywhere. The stay could be better if the hotel 1. Lovely hotel with great staff but do NOT waste your money on a package and call to confirm you will have access to the lounge if that's your primary reason for booking. I booked the theatre package for one night trying to have a little getaway for my anniversary- stated to include dinner, drinks, breakfast, valet, and a spa basket. When we got our bill, all of our meals and drinks were fully charged and we had to wait to talk to the manager to actually get those credits we paid for applied- and those credits are very small and don't cover much. We also had no notification the lounge would be closed off for a private event. This really threw a wrench in our plans. Definitely would have booked elsewhere if we knew this would be the case. This of course was of no fault to the great staff at the hotel, and they did point us in the direction of some other rooftop bars nearby, but I thought that was a really shady move on Hilton's part. And finally, that spa basket was nowhere to be found, and I just let that one go because I already felt bad enough bothering the manager about our bill. So again, the room and the staff at this place are great, just stay away from the packages! They cost more than they actually give. read more

I came to the rooftop for Sunday brunch. We got there around 1:30 and were able to sit at a table before the reservations came. I got the breakfast sandwich and it was so good and the potatoes were awesome! The inside almost seems mashed but the skin was still on, buttery and delicious. I never imagined that an event centered around joy--celebrating a birthday--could spiral into a story of denial, discrimination, and sheer frustration. Three individuals, each with their own plans, business and family commitments, made the necessary child care arrangements and cleared their schedules to attend a birthday party at the WiT Hotel. But instead of experiencing the celebration, they faced a stark violation of their basic rights. The WiT Hotel prides itself on being an innovator in the real estate industry--redefining the boundaries of old properties and creating exciting new spaces. But when it comes to inclusivity and community care, it seems this "innovation" doesn't extend to all of Chicago's citizens. These three individuals, one with disability, were denied access to the venue based on nothing more than their physical needs. This shocking breach of public accommodation law, specifically regarding disability discrimination, was not only disgraceful but downright unlawful. For an organization that touts its long-term investments and partnership with local businesses and communities, it is beyond disappointing to see the WiT Hotel show such disregard for the fundamental rights of its patrons. How can a company that claims to "work hand-in-hand with local stakeholders" ignore those in its community who require accessibility? Public accommodation laws exist to ensure that every individual--regardless of disability--has equal access to public spaces. But at the WiT Hotel, that right was stripped away with no warning and, worse, no remorse. These patrons were not only denied the chance to enjoy a simple birthday celebration, but they were also shown how little the WiT Hotel values the human dignity of those who rely on accessible services. The WiT Hotel's tagline speaks of "catering to the needs of the area," yet when it came time to cater to the needs of these individuals, they fell disastrously short. The actions of the hotel are not just a legal violation, but a missed opportunity to live up to their own values. If this is how the WiT Hotel treats the very community it claims to serve, then it has a long way to go before it truly innovates in the field of hospitality. It's time for a serious change. Let this be a blazing call to action: public accommodation violations cannot and should not be tolerated. The WiT Hotel needs to answer for its actions, and we all need to demand that no one is ever turned away because of a disability, not in this city, not anywhere. We stayed at theWit towards the end of August 2023. We booked two queens but got upgraded to a suite because we are diamond status and they had availability. When they moved us up, they warned that we were close to the rooftop bar above and it could be loud. Because the club would only be open the first night we were there, we decided to tough it out. I turned out to be very loud so keep that in mind if you book the top floor suite. We wouldn't have been able to stand it for more than one night. The suite was nice. It was clean and the bathroom was spacious. The hotel location can't be beat. One block from the river, close to two L lines. Walking distance to lots of food and attractions. We had a nice daily food credit but we didn't take advantage of it because the food in the hotel restaurant wasn't very good. We did eat upstairs at the rooftop bar and the food and drinks were very good. They allow people under 21 up there before 9pm which is good to know. We were traveling with a teen and she got a kick out of the place. She thought it was fancy and loved the mocktails. The service in the hotel was excellent. One of the bellmen was so friendly: a young man named Nathan. He brought up our bags and told us all about the features of our room. Overall the service at the front desk was very helpful and friendly. One thing to keep in mind: the rooftop bar at this place is BUMPING on the weekends. We returned to the hotel on a Saturday night and they stopped and asked us if we were staying at the hotel because they were doing crowd control. Another night we came home and it was super crowded out front and then a fight broke out among the drunk bar crowd. Overall we had an excellent stay and would come back again. read more
