Stayed here for 3 nights and would stay here again. Perfect location where a lot of places are walking distance like the SkyDeck across the street. I felt pretty safe walking around the area. The room was very well maintained, clean, and comfortable. Our room was a corner room so we had beautiful large windows that wrapped around for natural light and a view of the city. Good location, the room was spacious and comfortable, had all the basic necessities. The food from the cafe was great and the chef is fast considering it's a small kitchen. The rest of the staff however seemed to be annoyed anytime anything was asked of them, from the front desk to bartenders The woman at the front desk and she was rude and dismissive. I got there early so I knew the room wouldn't be ready but asked just in case. She said no rooms were available without checking. Ok, asked if I could leave my bags and she looked like she didn't want to deal with it. Came back again hours later and she still had the same attitude. During afternoon & evening hours you need to order food from the bartenders and they're also not very happy to take the time to do this. Both times different people were annoyed and even forgot to add something to my order. It got to the point where I purposely minimized any interactions with staff. I now see other reviews have similar experiences so not sure if it's this specific location or why the staff was so upset being at work. read more

We decided to stay here for our first Chicago trip. Upon entering the hotel, the lobby was very clean and inviting. Checking in was super easy and Anisa was very helpful with answering my questions and letting me know what the hotel offers. The room itself was beautiful. I felt like a VIP when I saw the words "Welcome Kaitlyn" on the TV. The pictures advertised upon booking are very accurate. The hotel is very close to train stations and numerous bus routes making it easy to get around, even without a car. I personally chose this hotel because it was part of the Amex Hotel Collection. I highly recommend this hotel whether you are an Amex cardholder or not. I would definitely stay here again. read more

I wish I had pictures since this place was so beautiful and definitely had historical aesthetics or just 1950-60's vibes. Since my husband and I are part of the Hilton Honors program, they kindly upgraded us to a room with a great view of the canal and the Willis tower. We also got to try out the roof top restaurant called Seville which was also nice! The breakfast there is great too :) The staff was always kind and helpful. I would be back. I booked a king landmark suite room on the Hilton app for my birthday weekend. As others have mentioned, the hotel partners with a local parking garage 1/2 block away. This posed no problem for us, as the weather was nice and it's a very short walk to the hotel. Trinity at the front desk was so kind and informative, explaining the hotel amenities and processes. We were able to check into our beautifully decorated and well-appointed suite room in no time. This corner room featured a cozy living room space and chaise sofa with 2 large windows overlooking the city. The room also had a large walk-in shower and separate bedroom. I appreciated Trinity's text to help us understand how the sink stopper worked (just push)! It was very clean and had a Nespresso coffee machine, as well. There were televisions in both the bedroom and the living room area. We slept soundly after a great meal + plenty of wine at Sepia (see separate review), and despite it being centrally located, we were not awakened by sirens or loud noises. Our room came with what we thought was 2 breakfast vouchers, and we were missing one upon arriving to the Depot bistro/coffee shop on the first floor in the morning. The friendly employee Alex went to the desk associate Jaymes and corrected the error. We had two delicious treats (avocado toast and a Nutella pastry). The coffee/latte were hot and flavorful, as well. Alex talked to us for awhile and was such a nice person; he truly loves his job and was great at it! Jaymes was also friendly and helpful. We honestly couldn't have asked for any better service. We left feeling genuinely happy to have stayed here! There's also a beautiful roof top restaurant here (Seville) that we didn't get to try this stay, but certainly will do so during our next city adventure! read more

Why 5 stars? Because these pillows might be the best I've ever had in a hotel. --- --- --- I am a picky princess when it comes to pillows. I like a lot of them. I like them to be really long. And I like them to be firm. (That is all most definitely what she said.) I almost felt like I slept better here than at home, and that is the ultimate compliment. The bed was a tad on the soft side, which I didn't love, but I actually missed these pillows when I got back home. The style of the room and the lobby were really cool and retro. I was able to experience some sweet mid-century stylings, but with all of the modern amenities. Other than the bed that you almost fell into, the one complaint I have is that the shower water pressure was pretty weak. But I slept like a baby, so it's hard to ruin my vibe. read more

This was my second time staying at this great hotel. However, I did upgrade to the One Bedroom Suite for the evening. The sitting space was great with plenty of sitting options. The city view was a great touch. There's a wide hall between the living area and the bedroom. The bathroom is a very good size for this suite. No complaints about the bedroom. The Canopy hotels is another great Hilton Brand. I would return. Hopefully, the rooftop will be open. read more

Very clean and well maintained hotel with a great central location. The only downside is that they now only offer complimentary bottled water on a first come first serve basis so if you check in late, you are stuck with relying on their complimentary water stations on each floor and the cups in your room. I'm not picky with water by any means but the water from their water stations were undrinkable for me. They also don't affirmatively ask if you want bottled water when you check in so you have to know to do so if you see them off on the side. Otherwise I had a very pleasant stay. read more

I spend too much time in hotels due to work travel but this is the first time I wanted to leave a review - wow. First impression was not a great one as it is unclear where to park .. I had to call the hotel to ask for direction as the parking garage is not affiliated with the hotel (would have been good to know ahead of time). Park in the self park garages nearby - Traders or Towers (large green/white self park signs). The room itself - King bed with City View - was beautiful. Everything looks modern but comfy - room has the ability to be closed off from the door. You can sit in the window and observe what is going on outside - lots of buildings. Nice to be close to it all, minus one star for the parking situation and price. read more

The best hotel in Chicago I have ever stayed. I was satisfied with everyting in this hotel, from the design and equipment in my room, to how clean the fitness center was, and how delicious the breakfast was. I was also surprised to have my name appear on the TV in my room, and moreover, a person to whom I could ask for help! Other great things include, e.g. the bedroom has a door which makes very quiet at night. At only $194 this was a super deal!! Overall, my stay--even for just one night, was awesome! This hotel will definitely be my first choice next time I go to Chicago--unless I want to try something new, and I am willing to recommend it to my friends. read more

This is a nice hotel for business travelers. I just completed my second stay on business. The reception desk is polite. The bar service can be a little slow. Bar prices are reasonable for the area. The elevator situation is a bit strange, the service elevator is right by the other elevators and easy to get on accidentally. There aren't quite enough elevators for the volume of customers but it could be worse. The rooms are nice. High ceilings. Good shower. Relatively clean. Once I had a decent view and once not. To be expected in a large city. No big complaints but nothing super wows me either. read more

I really love this hotel -- have stayed four times, now. I am a Hilton disciple, and have been a very frequent resident of the Canopy Short North in Columbus. Due to my experience there, a year or so ago, I decided to try the new Canopy in Chicago, rather than the Marriott. I'm so glad I did! The rooms are very well appointed, clean, and stylish. The lobby staff is always helpful and friendly, and the bar is wonderful -- and always busy. It's a great location; easy walk to the office for me, but also easy to grab and Uber and get just about anywhere. Surprisingly, the restaurant is really good! I was blown away by the eggs I had the first time I stayed. Of course, if you're from out of town, the hotel is right across the street from that Chicago institution of deep dish -- Giordano's! read more

I love the location and the rooms for this hotel. You're walking distance from different lines, Quincy station, LaSalle station, Jackson station. You're within the loop line, it'll get you wherever you need to go via their train system. You're surrounded by all these beautiful buildings, not too far from Millennium Park. You're right across from Giordano's too. Rooms had that vintage vibe with its furnishing, bed was extremely comfortable, I need to know what pillows are those. I liked the room so much to the point where I actually want to stay in bed to enjoy it even more. Rooms came with a carafe, water was available in the halls. There was supposed to be a rooftop, but wasn't open when I visited. The bathroom was pretty, gotta love all them extra shower heads. Not as nice as a JW Marriott, but this was still great. read more

This place is incredible. I stayed here for a weekend a few months ago - the rooms have a cool vibe and I like that they have filtered water machines on every floor. The most memorable thing, however, was the FOOD. Usually the food at hotels is nothing to rave about, but this place is doing it right. We stayed one night before we had to catch an Amtrak train the next day. Beautiful hotel. Easy to find and just a short walk to Union Station. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, but the hotel also has a great bar and restaurant. Front desk staff are helpful and professional. We had a late breakfast the following morning and met Raymond and Jose who made sure we had a delightful start to our day. If there were ever two people who were naturally made for the hospitality industry, it's Raymond and Jose. Our room was a king suite in a quiet location. Not much of a view but we actually don't sit around looking out our window much so in this case, the lack of a view didn't matter. We much prefer a comfortable bed and this room had it so we slept very well. Overall it was a great stay in a comfortable safe room. This was only our 2nd stay at a Canopy Hilton and I'm quite impressed with the brand. read more

First time staying at Canopy, but it definitely won't be my last time. This hotels location is within 10-15 mins drive to a majority of Chicagos biggest attractions. As for the rooms, they are very clean and the decor is very beautiful. There is a mini fridge and complimentary coffee maker in the room. But there is no microwave or regular iron. You do have a steam iron available to you though. The customer service is world class, and that even includes the ones assigned for housekeeping. It was really nice hearing a genuine hello from everyone. The hotel has a small bar/restaurant in the lobby. But this location is a joint venture with the Garden Inn on the other side of the building. There's also a more traditional restaurant on the 16th floor. The parking can be a little tricky at first. Here's how you can avoid the confusion. First check into the hotel and ask for the parking option for the hotel. It is not free of charge, because Canopy doesn't have their own parking lot. They have an agreement with Traders parking ramp across the street. Canopy will send you a QRC code that you will use to check in and out of the ramp. read more

One staff person made my day at Canopy. I booked a room and meeting space here. The room was okay, but it's refrigerator drawer was broken, and the elevator rumbling persisted much of the night though it was not adjacent to the room. As with the lobby, the room decor is quite stylized, some aspects okay, but others a bit dippy. The meeting room was very dark blue, with heavy draperies and dark woodwork. Before the meeting, I found there was limited availability of supplies (narrow while board, no easels or pads, etc.). I walked early in the morning to find supplies in the surrounding area, but nothing was available. Fortunately, staff assigned to catering the meeting was very resourceful and accommodating; he found everything we needed on site despite management's inability to do so. read more

The hotel is only a five minute walk from the Orange Line L stop at Quincy and Wells Streets. It took me only about 25 minutes to take the train to and from the Quincy and Wells stop to Chicago's second airport (also much more convenient than O'Hare). By car or shared ride service/taxi it takes about 40 minutes to reach Midway during the pm rush hour, according to Google Maps, versus 65 minutes to reach O'Hare. Concur with all the five star reviews, but agree bottled water should be placed in each guest room. read more

The room was fantastic with a comfy bed, great pillows, a nice large shower and a Nespresso machine. The views of the city were tremendous and I loved the location with views of the river. The only downside is the service checkin is typically a lot more helpful and friendly at a Hilton and the breakfast in the morning is a bit confusing and not the best. Would also be nice if they had some water in the lobby for guests. Beyond those things this is a great hotel with a nice gym to workout in and a decent bar as well. read more

I was lucky enough to be able to stay in a top floor suite with a nice view of downtown. The living room and bedroom were so nice. This hotel gets a one star for the front desk staff. First, at check-in my greeting was not as friendly as I am used to. This would have been alright but I called a few minutes after I was in my room to request a dental kit and slippers. They sent up the toothbrush and said they had absolutely no slippers. That seemed fishy so I asked the person who actually sent up the dental kit and they said that yes they had slippers so they brought them right away. This is even something that I could have just passed off and moved on but what really got me was this: At 11:45am (I paid for early check in at 8am so that I could take a nap) I had to call the Hilton honors line because I realized it would be a bad idea to stay the night given that airlines were canceling flights left and right. And, my friend who was going to meet me at this hotel had to rebook her travel because of the storms. I decided to nix my Chicago trip and try to get to NYC as soon as possible. I talked to the Hilton rep and they said that they could cancel my reservation, no problem, so that I could get my points back. Well, one hour later I walked down from my room (after I spent the needed time to re-pack and talk to my airline) and the manager, Heidi, called me and said that I actually now had to pay. Honestly, and I mean this disrespectfully, I have yet to meet a manager at a hotel that was as DUMB as her. I had to re-explain that they already had agreed, ONE HOUR PRIOR, to refund me given the circumstances and she went on to explain that I had been at the hotel for 5 hours so she would have to charge. This would have made sense because, yes, it had been 5 hours BUT THEY LITERALLY ALREADY HAD TALKED TO THE HILTON REP. I didn't get the back and forth I had with her at all. And, her only responses were, "you'll have to talk to Hilton again" and "Mmhhm okay." Mind you, I'm also dealing with the stress of getting a flight that will actually get me to NYC during a storm. I don't know who reads this at hilton or if it would get back to her at all...but if it does I highly urge you to check in on her communication skills and overall management. I use Hilton enough to have diamond status and this was the absolute most pointless and futile interactions I have ever had. read more

The location of the hotel if you are wanting to downs your day in the Loop is incredibly convenient. What is not convenient is the incredibly loud, nonstop sounds of the train system lasting through the entire night. If you are a light sleeper, this is not the place for you. read more

Never again. No policies and procedures in place to function when there is a computer system outage left our family of 4 including two kids without a hotel room at midnight in Downtown Chicago. Yes, many travelers were impacted by the Crowdstrike outage and many businesses, hospitals, and hotels had to default to downtime procedures. That is, pen and paper contingency plans when electronic systems are down. Well not this one. With a room for 4 paid in advance and reservation details at hand, the hotel staff told us at midnight after a day of chaotic travels that we had no room for us that night since they could not verify our reservation in the system. My husband had a reservation number, email confirmation, and a charge in our card to prove our purchase. But they were unwilling to give us the room we paid for. We asked that they please take into consideration the two tired kids and the fact that we cannot scramble for a place to sleep at midnight in downtown Chicago with our family. They offered a room in their "sister" 3-star hotel for more money than we paid for this one which is listed at 4-star . They essentially took advantage of the outage by saying the rates are higher because the city is now "compressed".:.:. The whole thing was wrong on so many levels and the staff at the Canopy and then Hilton Garden (sister hotel) were just callous, disingenuous, and dismissive of our entire situation. BEWARE WHEN MAKING A PURCHASE AT DEPOT226 I stayed at the Canopy by Hilton in Chicago, I checked in 4/22/23 and checked out 4/23/23 I purchased a brownie from Depot226 on 4/22 around 6:16pm CST with my personal Mastercard (the brownie was not charged to the room or placed on the card that was affiliated with my room) The brownie cost me $6.71 and I tipped $3.00 which totaled $9.71, which I was charged for. I was also charged $306.71 from Depot226 for purchase of that brownie, I DID NOT spend $306.71. I spoke with someone name Ashley on Tuesday 4/25 and again on 4/27 about getting my money back ($306.71) she said she would issue a refund and would email me a confirmation, I never received an email. I called again on 5/1 to request a confirmation email confirmation and made her stay on the phone with me until I received that email (pictured) I have still not received money back in my account for the amount of $306.71 that I did not authorize to taken out of my account. It is now 5/11/2023 and I have attached a photo from Heidi Franco, Complex Director of Operations stating the unauthorized money would be returned to my account by 5/9/2023 at 2:59AM at the latest, it is now 5/11/2023 and I have not received my money back yet! *-Please be sure to check your account and cards after making a purchase here because it will not be refunded in a timely manner! * read more

We really loved this concept, and the building was very cool. Customer service was adequate. I think with a few tweaks this could be a five star review. The lobby area is crowded - got to figure out the flow there. Our room was super chic, and I loved it - one problem: the configuration of the bathroom. There is no where inside the toilet/shower portion of the bathroom to set down anything. I had to place items on the floor. Not a big deal. I liked the hotel. A little noisy outside, but you know where it's located when you book. Just bring some earplugs and you'll really enjoy staying at this property. read more
