Damaged door
Lane C.

Checking in we asked the valet if we could use the luggage cart since it was out front. He said no problem. We loaded it up. As we were checking in we left the cart behind us and waited at the desk. That's when a bellhop emerged and grabbed the cart and said he could help us take the luggage to our rooms. We said no thank you, we had it, he insisted and asked for our room number. We declined politely again. He asked for the room numbers again. The man checking us in had to tell the bellhop to quit asking. We checked in on a Saturday and it was chaotic to say the least. The clubs were jamming but the hotel elevators were hard to find with room to use and being on the 22nd floor by an elevator we could hear the club music even with our door shut (big club is on 26). We were told they had sold out and we could not get any other room. The rooms door looked rebuilt like someone had broken into the place. It didn't look safe but it did feel sturdy upon further inspection. If you don't ensure the light by the front door is green the housekeeping services won't come. There is no sign for this. One night during our stay someone claiming to be from security rang our bell and knocked on the door. They were not in hotel uniform. They demanded to be let in because we had called for them. We had not called for security. I called the front desk. They said our neighbor must have called them. They hung up to handle it. Then, 15 min later, they called back to say that our TV had in fact called them. Our TV was off. We never turned it on once after checking in and turning it off. When I tried to have valet get our car via text it told me there wasn't any attendant available. I got that text as an uber was dropping me off at the hotel and I needed the car. There were two attendant's at the station standing there. The bathroom had massive dust in the exhaust fan from years of use without being cleaned. The chair had a cigarette burn in it. This stay was more Motel 8 than luxury hotel.

Had a great time at the here! Our room was clean, and amenities were solid. TV, iron, fridge, etc. all worked well. Wifi was good for the most part. The layout was quite interesting - you enter into a washroom that connects to the bedroom, but the shower and toilet are separated. I liked the accents of red. Appreciated how the hot water came pretty quickly. Besides the train next to the hotel, it was pretty quiet. The location was convenient too! Only blocks away from Milenium Park and easy to get to. Staff were polite and friendly. The check-in process was quick. You have to tap your card to access the elevator. The Cerise rooftop bar had nice views!! It was popping on the weekend! As hotel guests, we got 20% off the rooftop bar, their restaurant, and the coffee shop!!

We attended the Mariah Carey PopUp Bar at the virgin hotel. The tickets were $30, which got us a free holiday martini when we entered and a Santa hat. Very nicely decorated, creative holiday drinks and several activities to do when there. I think it can be a bit crowded but the wait to sit somewhere was only 20 mins.

Centrally located just steps from Millennium Park and several EL-lines Virgin Hotels Chicago is an unbeatable deal including a rooftop bar, 24/7 fitness center and kitschy flourishes from lobby to rooms. Housed in fully restored loop-adjacent 1928 building guests can expect friendly service plus good coffee, big shower and thoughtful touches like self-dimming lights and top-tier WiFi. At less than $175 a night including taxes and fees you won't find better in the Windy City.

Rat outside the hotel

Horrible experience. There were people protesting the hotel early in the morning with drums and megaphone. And when I went to take the kids outside there was a 20foot tall inflatable rat that was part of the protest that scared my kids! The rooms were grubby and the management didn't seem interested in fixing the situation. Stay anywhere else.

Our stay was great! We were accommodated in so many ways from valet parking, room service, and any other special requests. The hotel employees were very welcoming and were willing to rectify any issues the guests were facing. If we were to visit Chicago again, I would definitely stay here. The restaurant located within the hotel is subpar. The room service that was ordered came from that restaurant.

Stayed at the virgin hotel in downtown Chicago for a business meeting. The hotel had a hip vibe and was conveniently located to great Chicago sites. The staff worked with us to make our event smooth and seamless. The food we had catered was very good, The rooms were comfortable, and the business meeting space was brightly lit and spacious. Check out the Virgin for your next event!

We decided to visit Chicago for a week in November and found a great deal on this hotel. We don't normally stay in the Loop, but thought it would be fun and convenient, since it's so easy to hop on an L train to anywhere. We were planning to work half-days from the room, so we wanted somewhere comfortable, and where my wife and I could separate ourselves if we both had meetings at the same time. There is a sliding door between the entryway / bathroom / vanity area and the sleeping quarters, which blocked the sound well enough so one of us could sit at the vanity while the other person sat at the desk by the window. The room was super clean and nicely decorated, and we had all the amenities we could need or want. I was a little worried after reading some of the more critical reviews, but didn't have any problems with noise or anything else. Most importantly, the staff here truly stood out. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. We had a couple of things that "went wrong" while we were here, by no fault of the staff. When things went wrong outside of their control, the staff were extremely apologetic and provided resolutions well above anything we ever would have asked for. That is what excellent guest service is all about, and we can't wait to come back and stay again!

It's not often that you see a hotel with good Yelp ratings - but my husband and I had truly an amazing experience here and I would definitely come back. We had a 5 day, 4 night stay Friday to Tuesday here last month, total cost was ~$800, but we booked through Amex Hotel Collection and used the $200 Amex platinum benefit, so total was $600. We also got a $100 experience credit through amex platinum that we were able to utilize at the associated restaurant (Miss Ricky's), room service delivery (pizza!), the mini bar, and the coffee shop without extra charges. We also got upgraded to a king suite! Pros - Very convenient location - right in the heart of Chicago, walking distance to multiple attractions including Millennium Park, Wrigley Building (if you're going for the Chicago River Architectural Tour!), Chicago Theater, the Art Museum. So even though the hotel is a little more "pricey," you save a lot on transportation. It's also walkable to a train station! - Dog friendly, but doesn't smell bad at all! Love seeing everyone's pups - Really fast room service in the late evening - we ordered a margherita pizza from our TV and it came up in less than 30 mins. - There's a doorbell outside of each room, and you can toggle if you want housekeeping. - Very easy to set room controls on the TV, including temperature and music. - Easy checkout through the TV - The elevators were always super fast, not a long wait - We didn't interact with many staff, but everyone was super efficient - I was OBSESSED with the layout of the king suite - everything was so minimalist, aesthetically pleasing, and functional. I loved that there was a TV in the entry area, and a TV in the bedroom that is collapsible back into the wall, and I loved that there was a jack and jill sink and clothing storage area. The rain shower with a shower head was so luxurious to use with good water pressure, and the toilet / bathroom area was spacious. - The king bed was super comfortable - I honestly felt safe the whole time. There was always personnel in the lobby and even if there were randoms standing outside the hotel when it was dark late at night, I always felt protected. Cons: - the mini bar and snacks available in the room are super expensive (we fell for the gummy bears, thankful for that amex plat credit) - No microwave in room (which made it hard to re-heat leftovers, and the fridge was so fully stocked already with the pre set alchol and drinks it's not alot of space. - The bathroom has no fan, so hopefully your poop doesn't stink too bad haha - the TV cable had some poor signal where it would freeze while we were watching, so we kept having to restart the TV which was annoying Overall, it was such a positive experience I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting Chicago. I think the pros definitely outweighed the cons and we didn't receive any bad service.

REVIEW FOR BAR ONLY! I did not stay at the hotel so I cannot rate rooms. I went here for some drinks and an event hosted by the Chicago Bucket list. Crushed heart break bar. They had props set up for getting over a heartbreak. I personally was not getting over anything but still thought fun concept. Funny I wrote all of my past loves on a list a shredded them yes new year new me!!! I had a cool drink nice subtle environment cool spot to start or end your night. The music was nice too! I loved the setup super cute. I even had my tarot read Yeup..And I enjoyed it!!! I would definitely come back. Yes it's a dark environment but that didn't bother me.

This bed saw some Good Times. And The Jeffersons. We watched TV Land all week.

Ask the Community - Virgin Hotels Chicago

Is this in a safe (as much as it could be) part of Chicago?

Yes. The hotel is in a pretty populated area. I am a husband and father of two well-trained girls. I would not recommend they walk around between 1 AM - 4 AM - simply out of common sense. There are a LOT of worse places to be - that's for sure.

Is it very difficult to get to? I'm from out of town and not to good with downtown traffic of this size?

You don't need to rent a car. If you're flying in, you can take the train (blue line, the only option) from ORD to Clark/Lake and walk over. You can also take the (orange line, the only option) from Midway to State/Lake and walk over. Tickets are… Read more

This hotel was located within the loop near the river, shops, bars and restaurants. The hotel rooms are basic and small. We were fortunate to get an upgraded room with two queen beds and an amazing view out the window of the city. The window was large and clean. The beds were comfy with ample pillows. Four pillows were provided. The hotel set up is a bit awkward. Room is best for one person as lacks storage for large luggage. Plus there is not a defined bathroom. The shower is within the bedroom. Fortunately the shower was frosted but you walk right into the bedroom so you must be comfortable with those you stay with. Plus the room does really have a deck and chair to work. The desk is a fold down from the wall. The chair for the deck is located on the wall and not really suitable for long term working on sitting as does not have a back to it. The best thing above this hotel are the staff. The front desk staff are super friendly and accommodating and aim to please. The bartender was super friendly and attentive as well. Lastly parking is not available right at the hotel. You have to walk two blocks. Plus parking cost 59 dollars and that's the discounted rate. Also not really a suitable place to drop luggage off. If you pull up to the front door, you are blocking traffic. Base on price of 400 dollars the night we stayed, I would say it's not worth the stay. Maybe it's worth 200 or less for Chicago.

Lady on the phone was rude, told me no and hung up on me mid sentence. I wasn't able to eat my share because well, it was LATE. Wife said her food simply wasn't good regardless. Something as simple as butter and jelly for the toast wasn't provided. Arrived back between meetings. Stood out front and in the lobby for over 15 minutes to try and give my keys to the valet attendant. No one was anywhere to be found. Wouldn't answer calls from the front desk. They finally took my keys then some dude chased me down saying they can't keep them and I have to keep waiting. Oh this made me LATE to my next meeting. $89 a day for poor performance was not worth it. I would 100% suggest parking yourself or a block over at London house. They always have 4+ attendants. Help with luggage and doors etc. oh and it's CHEAPER. We appreciated the room upgrade. The room itself was okay. It wouldn't get below 71 degrees and got upwards of 76 degrees during the day. While searching hilton.com for a hotel to stay at on the day of my birthday, Hampton Inn Majestic…read moreChicago Theatre District was the first to pop-up within Chicago. I want to say that I have had my eye on this hotel for a while now after looking for Hilton hotel locations with a peloton bike, which this one has. Other than that, I loved that the location of this hotel sits in the heart of Chicago, surrounding a plethora of activities which made it the perfect choice for hotel stay to celebrate. Okay, it was an experience going up to the lobby area to check in at this hotel, a blonde moment as I am known for if you follow my reviews. The lobby is located on the 4th floor, so be sure to choose "L" for the lobby because there is no 4th floor button listed in the elevator. Me and two other hotel guests had an adventure going up to the lobby area after trying to figure out where the 4th floor button was. My experience with the receptionist working behind the desk was nothing less than professional. Since my room was already booked through Hilton Honors, the only thing check-in consisted of was a verification of my information, a briefing on what is offered, and the receptionist giving me my room key. For your information, check-in starts at 4:00 PM and check-out ends at 12:00 PM! If you have the Hilton honors application, there is the opportunity to check in with the application, choosing your room, and receiving a digital key, which will allow you to go to your room contactless without seeing a receptionist upon your arrival. I have not used this method, but if you are interested in no contact whatsoever then you can use it with the Hilton Honors application. After locating and entering my room, I thought to myself this is fancy once I took notice of the design and interior color which appeared so elegant! There was a variation of vibrant colors in the room from its curtains to the headboard of the king-size bed, the carpet, and a gold chair that looked like something out of your grandmother's house. Out of all, I just could not take my eyes off the curtains which reminded me of cherry blossoms because of the colors. Inside the bathroom there were liquid products by Gilchrist & Soames Zero% attached to the wall. Throughout my travels, I have noticed that hotels have completely dealt away with the mini shampoo, bath soap, and conditioner products that made great travel hygiene additions. Along with those notable things inside of the room, it met my cleanliness standards. I had no issues whatsoever getting comfortable in the king-sized bed during my stay as my head was engulfed in between the comfortable pillows. While utilizing the shower, I really enjoyed the water pressure; its soothing pressure made me feel very cleansed during each usage. It was wonderful toggling with the spray patterns, with the addictive feel of the pressure hitting my face and body. Other things the room came with that I noticed were a comforter, an iron, ironing board, blow dryer, safe, comforter, a coffee maker (Hamilton Beach), a mini refrigerator, microwave, and USB and AC plugins attached to either the headboard of the bed, lamps, or the television cabinet, which added a nice touch to the room. And the Wi-Fi internet was easy to connect to and not once did I have any connectivity issues with it during my stay. Hampton Inn Majestic, as expected, had an exceptionally beautiful inner interior! As a fitness enthusiast, it was great having a fitness center onsite because it allowed me to keep up with my fitness routines during my stay. I must say that I was pleased to see several dumbbell weights, medicine balls, kettlebells, a decent selection of workout machines, and two peloton fitness bikes which charmed me out of my panties once I spotted them. And oh, honey did I enjoy it on my birthday with the lovely Hannah Frankson as my peloton instructor, who put my legs through torture during her low impact workout. Having the complimentary breakfast was a relief because I did not have to worry about finding a restaurant for breakfast in the morning. And I was highly satisfied with the quality of what was presented. It is served daily from 6:00 AM - 10:00 AM. For you all visiting the city of Chicago, there are plentiful sights, activities, and restaurants within a radius of Hampton Inn Majestic. As a resident, a few that I adore are Willis Tower, Millennium Park, and the Art Institute of Chicago! Next door is the CIBC Theatre, which I noticed upon my initial arrival at the hotel. And if you are looking to explore the city or outer part of the city, the Chicago Union Station, and CTA Train Station are very accessible to-and-from. I would surely book Hampton Inn Majestic Chicago Theatre District again due to my experience with it because the hotel met my comfort needs, and I loved that its location is within an accessible distance of things of interest in downtown Chicago. ~ Live every moment ~ Thomas G

Although we grew up in the Chicago suburbs and know the city well, it was our first time staying at the Langham, and it left a strong impression. The most striking aspect was how spacious the room felt. We likely stayed in a Premier Room, which was quite large by city standards. The bed was massive, very comfortable, and just the right firmness. A detail that stands out is the space between the foot of the bed and the wall where the TV was mounted, which makes the room feel open and calm rather than cramped. The décor was elegant without feeling stuffy, highlighted by thoughtful touches like an espresso machine. The bathroom was another highlight: the frosted-glass window offered privacy while maintaining a sense of connection, and the rain shower had excellent water pressure and felt indulgent. The location is fantastic, convenient for work in the Loop, time in Grant Park, shopping on Michigan Avenue, or dining in River North or Fulton Market. During our trip, we ate nearby both nights, which made getting around easy and stress-free. The staff was warm and helpful throughout our stay, and breakfast at the hotel restaurant was memorable, even if the details are a bit hazy now. The lobby is beautiful, and several family members who stayed with us also commented on how much they enjoyed the hotel. At the time, pricing felt mid-range for a luxury hotel in Chicago, offering excellent value. I had been in Chicago just a few months earlier and had paid $55 at the L7 Hotel. So I was shocked that the JW could charge so much. How is their valet parking better than the valet parking at the L7? I realize now that had I been traveling alone, and not with my family, it would have been cheaper to fly to Chicago, than drive the 4.5 hours from Ohio. Apparently the hospitality industry hasn't caught on to the current affordability crisis, or at least Marriott hasn't.

Check in is quick, rooms are fine (and clean), and the executive lounge is nice. I was warned about eating in the bar on the first floor, which I hadn't done in a few years, but it was getting late, and the weather stunk. I saw friends in the bar area, so I took root at the table nearby. Service was fine, and I enjoyed a few of the Amber bee on draft. The menu looked good, and I ended up with a steak fried rice bowl. The steak was gross. It didn't even look like steak that should be served. It was fatty and tasteless. I ate less than 1/2 the rice and 1/3 of the steak. I wasn't starving, so it wasn't a huge deal, but those who told me to avoid the bar area for food were right.

I've been to Miru many times and finally got to try out the hotel for a staycation…read more Pros: -I loved that they had two restaurant options in the hotel. Both have incredible views but I would definitely recommend having at least one meal on the Miru patio if you are there during nice weather. -I was most surprised by their massive gym and has stunning views. It's also open 24 hours. They offered Pilates classes as well for an extra fee. -the hotel is brand new and all the finishes are so high end. The rooms are clean and quiet. The hallways are huge and felt like a maze to navigate but it also added to feeling of privacy. -there were so many high end details that made it extra special (the cozy Frette bath robes, welcome drinks, treat box in the room upon arrival, and the accent lighting in the room). -the location. It's just across the river from the heart of Michigan ave on the north end of a residential development. You don't feel like you are in the middle of the chaos of the city but the park, lake front and river are footsteps away. Negatives: -view was underwhelming ( fourth floor river view . Might choose the park view next time. I'd also recommend not facing the river as there was lots of honking/noise. -the room layout was awkward. They have this huge desk between the bed and tv. The full length mirror is a down a long hallway from bathroom/ where you would be getting dressed. -the room service comes on these huge heavy trays. The staff seemed like they were straining under the weight of it/ it was awkward. -I'd probably skip the spa/massage -$90/ day parking. Was able to do a spothero for about $40 next door.

I was personally greeted by India when I walked through the revolving door, which is always a great touch. They are super accommodating to my needs, can get me a couple bottles of water, and a late checkout due to my status with Bonvoy. The rooms are still in good condition, (in my opinion) some of the sofas are dated but the most important part when I stay here is the bed. It's not a mushy old mattress, they're great with support and comfort. The hotel is in a great part of River North, close enough to walk to the lake, or the Mag Mile. Even closer are top class restaurants and specialty stores, along with plenty of places for nightlife. Thanks for another great stay here! I'll be leaving for my flight home in a couple hours.
