I've been to Miru many times and finally got to try out the hotel for a staycation. Pros: -I loved that they had two restaurant options in the hotel. Both have incredible views but I would definitely recommend having at least one meal on the Miru patio if you are there during nice weather. -I was most surprised by their massive gym and has stunning views. It's also open 24 hours. They offered Pilates classes as well for an extra fee. -the hotel is brand new and all the finishes are so high end. The rooms are clean and quiet. The hallways are huge and felt like a maze to navigate but it also added to feeling of privacy. -there were so many high end details that made it extra special (the cozy Frette bath robes, welcome drinks, treat box in the room upon arrival, and the accent lighting in the room). -the location. It's just across the river from the heart of Michigan ave on the north end of a residential development. You don't feel like you are in the middle of the chaos of the city but the park, lake front and river are footsteps away. Negatives: -view was underwhelming ( fourth floor river view . Might choose the park view next time. I'd also recommend not facing the river as there was lots of honking/noise. -the room layout was awkward. They have this huge desk between the bed and tv. The full length mirror is a down a long hallway from bathroom/ where you would be getting dressed. -the room service comes on these huge heavy trays. The staff seemed like they were straining under the weight of it/ it was awkward. -I'd probably skip the spa/massage -$90/ day parking. Was able to do a spothero for about $40 next door. read more

This hotel has it all from Pilates, to Barre to Yoga to their Athletic Club and Pool. The only complaint is that it's not bunched with the other hotels, its toward the end of Wacker next to the lake. So, walking from the Blackbawks shop when it's 20° isn't an easy task. Also, I wasn't able to try the Tre Dita since I didn't book a reservation in advance. Hopefully, I can schedule a reservation in the future. Plus, since it was mid-December, the St Regis had their third annual 12 Days of Sabrage, which guests of honor perform the evening ritual of champagne sabrage, which celebrates the transition from day to night. They offered complimentary toast of champagne and a Vosges Haut-Chocolate truffle. The hotel encouraged everyone to bring a new or lightly used winter clothing for children in need. read more

I stayed at The St. Regis Chicago for three days, and it was truly a wonderful experience. From the moment we entered, everything felt elegant and welcoming. The entrance is beautiful, and the ambiance of the hotel is calm, luxurious, and very well maintained. The reception staff explained everything clearly and politely, making the check-in process smooth and pleasant. Bellman service was available right away, which made arrival and luggage handling very easy. The lifts were spotless and well organized, and the overall cleanliness of the hotel really stood out. Our room was spacious, beautifully designed, and extremely comfortable. Room service was quick and efficient, and the butler service added a special touch of luxury. Every request was handled promptly with a smile. Special counter of Vosges Haut Chocolat was there. Very yummy and best chocolate . On the Christmas Day there was surprise gift in the room. We got one chocolate pack and Christmas greeting card . Every time we found our room neat and clean The hotel also offers excellent facilities including a spa, swimming pool, gym, manicure, pedicure, and body massage services -- all available within the building. We also visited the beautiful Miru restaurant, which added to the overall experience. The highlight of our stay was the stunning Lake Michigan view from our room. It was peaceful and refreshing. My stay was wonderful. The staff were very helpful during check in and informed us about the champagne ceremony, which we don't miss! The hotel has a great lake facing location. The gym is open 24 hours, but the pool is only available until the evening and isn't heated enough. There is also a gender specific sauna in the locker/shower rooms, which means it can't be enjoyed as a family. First I have never been to see the interior so that aspect may be more interesting. From the outside though St. Regis seems almost one dimensional and it's bundled effect screams elementary. The biggest problem I have with this structure is the intrusive color which disrupts the mostly earthy tones of downtown Chicago. When seen from certain angles St Regis can impress but it gets brief. Overall, it looks fake and gets a bit harsh on the eye. The height aspect was needed but the entry ground level by contrast needs something. Jeanne could have taken inspiration and ideas from far more interesting high-rise residential architecture of Hong Kong or Panama City to improve on this one. read more

St regis spa did not disappoint! Right when you walk in you are greeted and offered a beverage - tea, water, coffee or wine. I chose the jasmine tea as it was too early for wine ( I had a 9:30 am appointment!). Love it area is elegant and simple - sauna and steam room were available for use and they have cold towels if you use for the sauna. I opted for the jasmine tea as their tea selection is vast! There were other people having appointments prior to mine that came into the relaxation room. Abby was my massage therapist and she was the best! Very thorough and informative. She mentioned that they have a few oils they use - lemon, orange and a cinnamon blend. I opted for the lemon as it's the closest to lavender that I'm used to. The only negative I have was the room and where it was situated. It may have been the area she was assigned to, but I wish it were darker without the windows. Beautiful hotel in a perfect location. The rooms are wonderfully appointed and have a nice turn down service. This is a really special place to stay. The parking fee is outrageous with no self parking. I prefer not waiting for the whole valet process when I'm coming and going. We used the parking garage next door for a fraction of the cost with the ParkWhiz app. (Helpful tip). The only thing I didn't appreciate was the strong false fragrance being piped into the lobby...which gives me a headache. Otherwise, this hotel was perfection! read more

Beautiful hotel overall! Valet was efficient and the staff were really nice. We had a 2 Queens room and it was very large and mostly looked clean. I was not a fan of the rainfall shower. In my opinion, rainfall showers are hit or miss and this was a miss. It was really awkward trying to shower without my entire head getting wet. We enjoyed the evening ritual and champagne tasting. It was really nice! We also dined at both restaurants and enjoyed those experiences overall. There's a lovely terrace on the 11th floor with amazing views. It was closed for a private event during the evening but I was able to check it out during the morning hours. Overall, the stay was good minus a few concerns in the guest room. The clock in between the beds was really dusty. The face wash dispenser was dirty on the top of the pump. I understand that they refill bottles, but the bottles should at least be cleaned on the outside. read more

I threw a bridal shower for my daughter with my mother. The entire process was very difficult. The day of the event the servers didn't bring out items that were on the printed menus for guests, I was told that they wouldn't box up leftover food, which I hadn't writing, and then we waited an hour for the dessert and had to gobble it down to be out of the room in time. I emailed Oliver Gibbons, the general manager of the Saint Regis a week ago, and have not even had a response. I expected a very seamless event. This place is a haven to fall upon when strolling through out the "magnificent mile" of Chicago downtown. I came here after my boat tour through the lake and the river at the Navy Pier and just fell in love with the property. I do not expect a loud, sliding barn door to close off the bathroom at a luxury hotel. Also, the doors to the actual toilet do not offer any privacy at all! Who designed this failure? I've been married 20 years and my husband and I are very comfortable around each other, but I do NOT want to hear him use the toilet. Nor do I want to smell the aftermath. BRING BACK REAL DOORS!! Appreciated acknowledgement of my Titanium Bonvoy status with a complimentary upgrade, and a small gift, as well as free breakfast. Common areas are well designed and all decked into holiday decor, a lot of small and pleasant touches throughout. Great spacious room with awesome views, and understated luxury atmosphere. I wanted to love this hotel but could not. As a Marriott Titanium Elute member in a high-end Marriott property, I expected to be greeted with respect. The check-in was a nightmare. Desk agent barely spoke English and my hotel check in was delayed by three hours. Loved the location, the quality of the breakfast, and the pool. I recently stayed at The St. Regis for 4 nights. The hotel and the staff made me feel welcomed and wrapped in luxury for those 4 nights while I roamed the city during most of the day. The pool was one of many high points. It was big,the water was WARM and 3.5 feet depth was perfect for doing laps. The view from the pool and the Meru restaurant were of a great cityscape with the Chicago River and Lake Michigan(in the background). The rooms were spotlessly clean and well laid out. My room had a walk in dressing room/closet. Whenever,I called the front desk for help, they were cordial and informative. I recommend the Meru restaurant on site and the other restaurant(i dont remember the name)on site at the St.Regis is so good that one needs reservations in advance. I would definitely stay at the St.Regis again on my next visit to the windy city. read more

OK where do I begin?? Gabriel greeted us once our uber arrived. Got out luggage had a smile and was extremely pleasant. Lawrence checked us in and Stefano (I think our Greek buddy) guided us to our room. I mean they were all exceptional just amazing truly. OK HUGE special mention... Prior to checking in the butler service from my queen Erika was exceptional. Told her the trip was for my wife's birthday and she put a special picture, chocolates and champagne in our room without me even mentioning it. Plus we needed lots of blankets in our room. All were done to perfection prior to checking in and Erika even greeted us upon our champagne checkin. Just fabulous and thank you Erika and team!!! OK the rooms are huge and perfectly done. Wish the shades were automated but truly these rooms feel amazing. Quiet as can be and just perfect. My wife and I also went to lunch at Miru in the hotel which the food, hostesses and servers were delicious. Special mention to Ally (probably spelling wrong but from Ohio) she was exceptional and made a recommendation we loved too! This is a romantic place above many places and I could not recommend it more. You are close to michigan avenue but between one of the best hotel gyms, spa and exceptional service why leave... ever!!! This property was one of my favorite Marriot properties I've ever stayed at- and I'm a lifetime platinum elite with ~ 800 nights stayed all over the US, so that's saying a lot. The St Regis Chicago is less than a year old. The lobby provides a posh vibe and great spot for pics. Staff is friendly and professional. The hotel location is ideal with easy walking access to the Mag Mile, the River, Navy Pier and tons of restaurants and bars. The fitness studio is of the same caliber as a high end gym like Lifetime with free weights, treadmills, multiple rooms for group classes, an indoor pool, a punching bag among other features. The rooms were spacious, modern, well-designed and very comfortable. Our room featured a nice rain shower, full stocked wet bar with reasonable prices for the liquor and snacks. They also had a turn down service which was a pleasant surprise when we came back from our dinners to find the light dimmed, slippers bedside and relaxing music being played along with water on the night stands. We also dined at the on-site restaurant Miru which was incredibly tasty(pricey) but delicious sushi and other Asian inspired fare. In speaking with the staff, we heard that they're planning to add an Italian restaurant on site. The only addition that could make this hotel more spectacular is a lobby bar. All in all the St Regis is a phenomenal property worth every penny or point! read more

Aww... That signature St.Regis scent when you walk into the lobby of this hotel... We are not strangers to this brand. This property has a nice vibe. The hotel is very new. The rooms are similar to those at their Bal Harbor property. The floor layout is similar to their San Francisco location. Everything is clean and thought through, just as one would expect at the St.Regis property. As I understand, they are still working on their lounge area. The only place to eat is Miru. If you miss their last breakfast seating at 10:30am, you'll miss your chance of having a leisurely coffee time. Two days in a row their lounges on the 11th floor were used for private events. The bar menu at Miru has an extensive list of aperitifs, and of course sake, sake and more sake. Which is understandable. Hope the downstairs restaurant will have a lounge for visitors and dream that they'll have an afternoon tea service or at least so much needed pastry selections to munch on during the stay. Final note. Love the fact that their regular rooms are not connecting. I really appreciate. that level of privacy. Even with a lack of dining options I'd still prefer it over FS Chicago. read more

Sally was the first engaging person I met trying to solve my issues with a silly pin issue. But she moved that drama and walked me to the elevator and explained THREE times (I am rather old so kudos to her) how to get to my room. Namaste Sally I'm remiss I did meet another star of Oliver's staff before Sally..cliffhanger So once I returned to hotel...walking because of Taylor Swift (that will age well) Alfred (also I am not Batman) helped me to get to dinner with a car service (hush don't tell everyone or you'll be in line). It is first come first serve So then I challenged Richard to solve my previous mentioned PIN issue am yes yes he did!! So I won't say the "star" of the show because ever interaction I had was five stars but I do need to mention Tim and his thinking of how to add value to his role in the Machina. He drove me as close as he could based on "corporate" requirements but he immediately thought of " we want to deliver A++ service so let's have flexibility" his thinking of brand and value was a unique experience for me So Oliver I'd challenge you to take the team you've built and listen to what they think they can do to enhance the brand for your amazing property. From the beginning, Housekeeping Coordinator Erica was impressed with her proactive attitude. She contacted us via email prior to our arrival asking for our expected arrival time and number of guests. First, I would like to acknowledge and commend Solange, FNU, Lorry, and Richard Garling. Richard, in particular went absolutely above and beyond. He truly made my experience incredible. He is a gem of a human being. I travel the world and believe in taking care of staff through tipping always, and in turn I expect them to take care of me to make my stay the most enjoyable it can possibly be. And that is exactly what Richard did. Alyssa, on the other hand was extremely condescending and as a suggestion I feel that your staff needs to remove the word "regrettably" from their vocabulary. Clearly it was a word that was taught in St Regis hospitality training I am aware that it's a "kinder" way of saying "No", but it comes off incredibly condescending and rude when repeated multiple times. I have Amex FHR and am Marriot Bonvoy Gold status, which entitles me to an upgrade upon availability. I tipped Alyssa upon check in, and she "upgraded" me to a Superior Room, which is a complete joke of an upgrade and quite frankly insulting. Additionally, upon receiving my Folio bill, I noticed my AMEX FHR $60/day breakfast credit was not removed from my bill. With Amex FHR, I am entitled to $60/day breakfast credit PLUS a $100 experience credit during my stay. The woman I spoke to on the phone (I am not sure what her name was) told me I was "confused". I told her to please do not refer to me as confused and to pull up the list of FHR benefits right now and you can clearly see that she's incorrect. Misty from the spa was incredible. She was so personable. I travel the world and have been to some of the most amazing spas, and she gave me one of my top facial experiences. I only wish i had more time to book a massage with her because her facial lymphatic massage and neck massage during my treatment were amazing. Candace, the hostess at Tre Dita was phenomenal and so sweet. Lastly, 3 days in a row I did not receive housekeeping, or turn down service despite the fact that I called in advance to request it all three days AND even put the make up the room sign on the door. Additionally when I ordered room service and placed the tray in the hallway when I was finished. It sat in the hallway for 5+ hours. I will be giving the St Regis Chicago another shot next time I visit because I am hoping with my constructive criticism and glowing review of some of the amazing staff I mentioned above, I anticipate having a much better experience and hope they can redeem themselves. The goal of this review is to give them feedback because I know that the St Regis brand is better than this. I look forward to coming back and giving it another shot. read more
