My son and his girlfriend discovered this restaurant a little while back and they are big fans so we joined them. I understand why they like it so much. Very nice atmosphere. We went on Friday night at about 6 and it was empty but by 6:30 there were four families there with us. Service was fast and friendly. The food was all very fresh and well prepared other than one thing I will explain. Loved the pani puri. Momos were so crispy and delicious meat inside. The mixed chow mein was not only delicious but it wasn't the least bit greasy. The beef Rayo was delicious. It's dried meat so it is a little different in texture when cooked than regular beef but it was still tender and very nice. The only clunker was the port Rayo. I guess they used pork belly but it wasn't a great quality because all of the pieces in our dish except maybe 2 were all pork fat with no edible meat on them. They were actually inedible. So I cannot recommend that. At all. Would I come back again? Yes. But I would skip that Pork Rayo. read more

This Nepalese restaurant opened few months back, so cozy and authentic place. We have already been there multiple times within a month. The menu has so many of the popular local dishes like thali set, tandoori, momo, thenduk and thukpa. They also serve different beverages like tea and lassi. We ordered several different dishes from menu such as chicken momos, wings, goat thali and naan. The food was served within a short time. I so impressed with thali as it was presented just like how locals do. There was bowl of goat, that was absolutely tender and flavorful, a bowl of daal, a bowl of potato curry, and a bunch of pickle alongside rice and papad. Wings were delicious. Momos were so good as well, especially with its green sauce. The naan was soft and fluffy too. The lassi came in a large jar, was sweet and dense, loved it. Our server was very sweet. Such a hidden gem of the area. Paintings on the walls and decors are Himalaya related. Very relaxing vibes. The TV is playing the soft music with the views from the mountain. Menu is consisted of Nepali Chinese and Indian cuisines. I tried one of the noodles Thenduk with chicken. The broth was delicious. The texture of noodles was medium firm. Short and flat shape made it easy to pick up with spoon as well. Wings were tender and had smoky flavor. Naan was on the crispy side. A little different from the Indian style. The staff member was very nice and helpful. Food came out in a reasonable time. Warm and good portion. The restaurant is clean. Bathroom is clean. I definitely recommend this restaurant. read more

If there's one thing about Nepal we've ALL heard of, it's the Himalayas! It's a towering chain of mountains soaring more than 1,492 miles from Pakistan through Nepal and Bhutan to far eastern India. While all manner of Western food can be found in Kathmandu or Pokhara, it still isn't common (thank goodness!), and one doesn't need to travel far to see that traditional food is still the staple for most Nepali. Located on Boulevard just across the street from Borough Hall in Hasbrouck Heights, I decided to have lunch at this family-owned and family-run establishment. Upon entering Himalaya on Heights, I was greeted by the staff and got a table by the window inside a cozy, clean, and relaxed vibe. A large LCD flatscreen TV in the front constantly shows YouTube videos of scenic Nepal with serene music playing in the background. My server spent the time going through most of the menu as a first-timer experiencing Nepali cuisine, for which the interplay of Chinese and Indian influences can be found throughout the Himalayan region. As an appetizer, I decided on the Veggie Momo, which are steamed dumplings served with a homemade spicy tomato chutney called Achaar and regular Chutney. For the main meal, I went for the traditional Chicken Thali served with rice, mustard greens, vegetable curry, papad, lentil soup, and chutney. The food was incredibly delicious, with the uniquely fresh spiced ingredients really awakening the senses & filling them with joy. The service was excellent; the staff was friendly and attentive, especially Dalmu, the manager, and Dona made my meal truly enjoyable. The price was comparable to the area. Recently stopped by on Easter Sunday to check out this new restaurant. I don't see a lot of Nepalese restaurants around, so this was a welcome addition to the neighborhood. We tried: -Alu Dum (spicy potatoes) - these were really good. Perfect amount of spice and it was very flavorful -Steamed Beef Momo (dumpings) - these have a little soup inside, which I wasn't expecting but it was a nice surprise. It comes with two dipping sauce (not quite sure what they were) -Chicken Thali set (served with rice, mustard greens, vegetable curry, papad, lentil soup, and chutney) - the chicken was a bit dry but the flavor was good. I also liked all the accompaniments it came with. The vegetable curry tasted the same as the alu dum so if you're going to get a set, I would probably pick something else as an app instead of the potatoes For drinks, we had the boba, which was so sweet that it was undrinkable. We ended up getting a mango lassi too, which was much better. We could have used a bit more food for two people so if you're sharing, I'd recommend 3 apps + 1 set or 1 app + 2 sets. Really enjoyed my meal at this cute little Nepalese restaurant in the middle of the suburbs. I got the veggie thali set with naan that comes with samples of veggie dishes, and lentil soup. I was so bored of all the choices and Himalaya on Heights offers a flavor profile that is unlike any other. It may be most similar to Indian food in terms of flavor but it's not even that. I'm not even sure how to explain it but everything was full of flavor and delicious. This place is an adventure for your palate and would make a fun date night if you're up to trying new things. I came with my gf and her family because they love it here. Truth be told, I'm not particularly a fan of Indian food so I was a little on the fence about coming. While I wasn't a fan of all of what we ordered, it wasn't because it wasn't good. I will say it was cooked well and fresh. I enjoyed the momos, the chow mein, samosas, and the fried rice very much. The pan puri were delicious. The naan was fresh. I would come back again and again for that chow mein and the fried rice. I didn't care for the meat dishes they ordered, but that's on me because they ordered them medium spicy and I'm not a fan of spice. But they were well prepared and they did taste good. Just spicy. The steamed chicken momos were wonderfully flavored and very fresh! A nice green sauce came with the momos. Definitely a must try! The garlic Nan was mildly flavored and good. I ordered the Chicken Tika Marsala which came with a generous portion of indian fluffy rice. All their indian entrees all use chicken breast. The Nepal chicken dishes uses the thigh meat. My entree was tasty but very light on chicken and heavy on the sauce. I felt the sauce was a little too thick and heavy but it was tasty. I know if my son had ordered the same meal, he would be looking for more chicken and less sauce in a dinner entree. My son tasted a momo and totally love it. I've only ever had Nepalese in Queens so it was nice to hear this place open so close to my home. I stopped in and got an order of Momos, half steam and half fried and asked the waitress to just order her favorite thing and she got me a bowl of chicken Thukpa. I've never had food from Nepal before and this was a great introduction. The food was very fresh and flavorful. The veggie momo in the chilli sauce was excellent. I loved the veggie chowmein. Hard to find Nepalese food in general. Really happy to find this gem of a place. The chicken momos had a really flavorful filling and the dumpling skin was the perfect thickness. We tried the fried ones and they were really good but I think we will go back to having the staple steamed ones. The goat curry was steeped in a rich thick sauce and extremely generous regarding the amount of goat. Will definitely go back to try different items on the menu. So delicious and excellent service! A great addition to HH and Bergen County in general. We loved the Thali Sets, Momo beef dumplings, and kids had the chicken fried rice. Everything was flavorful and pleasure to savor. They offered complimentary refills on the daal and sauces which came with our meals. They have chicken, beef, veggie, and other options to choose from. I have been visiting Himalaya on Heights ever since I first discovered them in March 2025, and let me just say that as someone who's father's side of the family is from a mixed-race diaspora with parentage from the Tibet/Bhutan/Nepal border - this place has become a home away from home for me. Dalmu and Tejindra (the husband-wife duo owners & frontrunners of this amazing Himalayan restaurant) are absolutely the friendliest sweethearts you could find, and their care for their diners shows with every intentional action Dalmu and the other servers make towards them, as well as through their food offerings cooked up by Tejindra and other chefs in the back. My first order ever from them was chicken tikka masala with white rice, and a mango lassi - and I'll never forget it! The chicken tikka masala was tasty and definitely felt homemade and crafted with love, and their mango lassi was refreshing and not overly sweet! Their chicken chow mein also has an amazing kick to it that you cannot compare to Chinese chow mein at all - and their momos are a constant favorite now of me and my family! Their bubble tea/boba selections are limited but very solid in taste - I kept coming in for their sweet and chilling strawberry milk tea, but after I tried the matcha, I can't look back now! The restaurant itself is quite small, but they have done what they can to make it extremely cozy for anyone who chooses to dine in. A neon sign of their logo sits on a wall of greenery near the far left of the restaurant when you enter - which also leads to the direction of their restroom. The large LCD flatscreen TV in the front-right of the venue from entering constantly shows YouTube videos of scenery from the highlands of Nepal with serene music playing in the background, which I found very nostalgic and a beautiful, calming touch - as if you were dining at a restaurant actually in Kathmandu or Pokhara! The lights can always be requested to be dimmed as well if you feel they are too bright. And lastly, Dalmu and the other waitresses will always make sure that you feel tended to and provide nice conversation if the restaurant isn't too busy (ex: during their lunch and dinner rushes, and on holidays/festivals)! All in all, this restaurant has become a staple for when I am craving something with a bit of spice and unique flavors directly from the Himalayas! This review is my love letter to Himalaya on Heights and its owners - as someone who has also dined at Chatni "Indian" Restaurant in Montclair NJ; Himalaya on Heights is LEAGUES ahead of Chatni! Himalaya On Heights has become my absolute favorite Nepali restaurant! The dining area has ample seating and the ambiance is esthetically pleasing. The service is always top notch serving Nepali loving kindness with a side of the most amazing foods. My wife completely enjoyed her mild Dum Aloo and Egg fried rice. Himalaya On Heights is one of only a couple restaurants that make a mild she can tolerate. She said that the spices used for the Dum Aloo are super tasty with no heat and the Egg Fried Rice is not oily, is loaded with tasty veggies, and seasoned perfectly. As always I enjoyed the steamed Veggie Momo and Veggie Thali. The green Momo sauce has become my favorite but I could eat their Momo without sauce. Not only are the Momo beautifully made, they are extra tasty. The Veggie Thali had pickle, mustard greens, urad dal, and a black eyed pea curry that were all extremely balanced with flavors leaving me feeling like I just left my Mom's house after a hearty home cooked meal. The dessert that comes with my Thali is unlike any Gulab Jamun I have ever had. I had Butter Tea with my meal and it was exactly like one I received when meeting with some Monks at the Temple I attend. It has a savory and slightly salty taste that leaves a lingering film in my mouth with each sip. This is a mixed bag. The girl - it's been the same lady each time I visit - in front is very nice and welcoming. The food has been good, with a couple of very traditional items in particular being excellent. Having said that, there are a couple things to be aware of: they are not reliable, and the back of house in particular is not customer friendly. I sat for an hour waiting on a dish that I'd ordered by uber eats to pick up in person. After several reassurances that my food would only be another 15 minutes I was told that they were out and to order something else. I left. They also sell several items listed as "dry noodles" or wai wai noodles. These are literally dry ramen noodles. I'm not exaggerating, they are a common ingredient in some street foods in Nepal. That's great. Selling a ten cent pack of noodles pan fried in spices is a borderline scam when the menu price is $15...at the very least you should make it clear that your selling ramen and spices for a thousand times mark up in profit. I have been here to eat 3 times. First time great, second time good, third time pretty bad. Service on a Saturday night was terrible, dishes were uninspired , bland, even though we ordered high spice level. Slow service, our party was 4 and the 4th had to wait forever to get her meal last. Walked in and looked at menu. Ordered chicken mono and mango lassi. The mono was made to order and was very good as was the mango lassi. The woman that was there was very friendly and helpful!
