The debate for me of which is better Ramen or Pho has ended after my experience at this establishment. We received the pho & asked for it spicy, what we received looked like a bowl of oil. I knew something was wrong because every time we tried the base we would cough as if our body was rejecting it. The heat tasted decent it was their oxtail and steak, it didn't look very seasoned. He preferred my chicken pho, which had hearty pieces of tender chicken breast. I opted for the optional steamed veggies, which were a steeply priced add-on at $5 but I really enjoyed the variety - broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, and even some large blocks of fried tofu. We picked Pho Today for a Sunday lunch. This is the third PT location I have been. It looks similar to other ones with similar menu as well. The restaurant was clean and tidy. Very large space with lots of seats. We picked several of our favorite items from the menu such as fried spring rolls, shrimp summer rolls, rice vermicelli with beef shrimp, and grilled chicken on rice. The dishes came out so fast, almost seemed they had them ready in the kitchen. I loved the taste of the grilled beef, shrimp and especially the chicken. It had such tasty marinated flavor. The rice was good quality too. The vegetarian and fish sauce made all the dishes even better. The service was good overall. My wife missed out on our dinner adventure yesterday evening and she wanted Pho Today since you can never have enough pho. Compared to our last visit from a couple of months ago, drastically different this afternoon - the cuts of meat were not great and service was the bare minimum. There were signs posted at the door they were hiring cooks and wait staff so I am assuming that this was the issue. Food was dropped off, no check ins to see how was everything and if we needed anything, and we had to ask for the check twice. I hope this place improves in the near future. read more

Stopped in on a whim for lunch and was able to be seated right away as the restaurant itself wasn't crowded. The server immediately provided a menu and water and allowed me time to decide on my order. I went with the. Tai Gau Pho (they only have 1 size) . The pho was ready in a short amount of time and the bowl itself was pretty large. The flavor of the broth was good and there was plenty of meat in the pho, however, the fatty brisket was honestly the fattiest fatty brisket I've ever had and because the meat was also not thinly cut it made it difficult to chew and eat. We ordered a banh xeo and a bun bo hue. The bun bo hue was flavorful and is probably one of the better one's I've had on the east coast. The banh xeo was a miss for me though. Okay I confessed I used chatgpt instead of Yelp this time to find the best pho money can buy in the Newark area. Not gonna lie, it actually came through when I checked out the ratings on Yelp. After a short flight over I grabbed my rental car and headed up the NJ turnpike to Pho Today in East Rutherford. The restaurant wasn't too busy at 2pm on a Friday afternoon but for whatever reason the parking lot was a mess. There's also an Aldi grocery chain in the same lot so perhaps everybody was trying to get their shopping out of the way. I really enjoyed the oxtail in this soup and it was the star of the show. There were several pieces of it and I was not afraid to use my hands to get down and dirty. This is not your typical pho as it contains fillet mignon and generous pieces of rare steak inside as well. It's not a special if you don't also include beef meatballs. Overall the quality of the broth was above average and most definitely impressed me due to the high quality ingredients in it. I've been here a few more times since my last review and it's not bad. I've tried the banh mi, beef combo pho, and grilled chicken with rice. It's actually a pretty solid banh mi. They have the Vietnamese cold cuts, where as a lot of other Vietnamese restaurants in the area only have grilled chicken/pork banh mis. The pho broth didn't do it for me. It tasted like it was made from a paste or canned broth, or maybe some of that was added to it. But, I will say that it was nicely packaged for takeout. They separated everything so that you can assemble it at home. The grilled chicken with rice might be my new go-to. It's very filling and satisfying. Plus, the chicken is perfectly cooked. The good thing about Pho Today is that they give huge portions. So chances are, if you order one meal, you'll probably have enough for lunch the next day. While it's not my favorite Viet spot, it's conveniently located, especially since it's located in a strip mall so I'll probably continue to order from here. read more

Some of the best Vietnamese food we've had in NJ so far! My family and I have visited Pho Today before, but the one in Fort Lee. They also have other locations scattered throughout NJ, but further south. We dropped in on a Saturday evening at 6pm and, to our surprise, it was quiet inside. Yes, the restaurant is very big, but there were only a few tables occupied throughout the evening. To rewind a bit, parking is very convenient and easy here since this location is part of a strip mall. As for the menu, there is no difference at all between this menu and other locations. There are plenty of pho and rice options to choose from. We ended up ordering the C1 Com Tam Today, P11 Fat Brisket, Meatballs, Well Done Flank and K5 Grilled Chicken on Rice. To cut to the chase, everything was DEEEELICCCCIOUS and tasty. Not a single complaint. I'm more of a rice and meat type of guy and the C1 Com Tam Today with the grilled pork chop, shredded pork, egg quiche, spring roll, fried shrimp tofu and omelet on rice was perfect. If you're dining at Pho Today for the first time and want to try it all, this is the rice dish to order! As for the P11, the broth was super delicious like it was at the Fort Lee location. Plenty of meats inside, plenty of pho. Really, really good. And, of course, what better beverage to wash this all down with than none other than a mmm mmmm thirst-quenching Thai Tea, which is fantastic here. Everything here was great - food, service, spacing.
