This is a great place to try Himalayan food on Golden Gate/Hyde. I had Himalayan pizza for the first time and it was flavorful. The small size $22 came with 6 slices. My friend and I also shared the Jhoo momo $16. I like that it wasn't spicy but had a kick of spice and pepper. There were 6 tables and wasn't crowded for dinner, so we were able to enjoy dinner conversations for 2 hours. I recommend walking on Hyde St which feels safe. read more

I went 3 weeks back almost 20 minutes before closing the guy's there were super nice and I asked for some different sauces on the side and also could they whip me up? Yeah, we'll try it out and try some sauces and then give a ton of fries Given that it was like I want to say 11:30 a.m. and it's not too far from the tenderloin there only was two other people in the restaurant and then four doordash drivers came in the 20 minutes that I was there to get other orders. These guys gave a ton of food and researching and mentioned that they were even working till 1:00 a.m. sometimes before, but they were having trouble recruiting people. The tandoori pizza is absolute fire. It's so good that I have found myself rarely able to order the other amazing looking things on the menu. When I have, they have always been solid. But this review isn't about them, it's about the pizza. The pizza is large, and the price is very good for the amount you get. The sauce isn't overdone, but flavorful. The chicken is good. I really enjoyed this meal! The chicken tika masala was packed with flavor and spice. I ordered the medium spice and it had some kick to it. If you're sensitive, ask for the least amount. We ordered this for one of our event at my workplace. We ordered mainly paneer pizza, queen veggie pizza, and tandoori pizza. The problem is, 2 of our participants were Jain, which can be very hard to accommodate. I called them back and forth to ensure they could make some adjustments for the food and Nabu and Santosh were one of the few places who's willing to accommodate such hard request, and the only one who really went above and beyond on the request. I saw online that they offered a $5 off discount for your first time if you use the link on the restaurant website to order through Allset, so my partner and I used this so that we could order a royal paneer pizza, small, which is 12 inches. The food was ready on time and space-efficiently packaged in a pizza box which is just the right size, they also included some cheese packets inside the box. I was rather underwhelmed by the flavor of the pizza, however. I actually felt it was under-spiced and under-sauced, I would've liked a much richer heartier flavor and the paneer also tasted relatively plain due to this. But if you like paneer, then this could be a plus if you prefer to just be able to savor the taste of the paneer itself, which they cut into fairly large cubes. The flavor profile is dominated largely by cheese and onion. There was a little cilantro, but not enough to be quite noticeable. Overall, I'd consider the flavor more of a 3.5 (if Yelp allowed half stars). read more

Best kept secret in SF. I've been here twice so far and each experience has exceeded my expectations. During my first visit, I had the goat platter and my goodness. Not only did it come with a large variety of bites (cucumbers, salad, vegetables, bean masala, pickled veggies, goat curry, sweet rice dessert, naan, rice), everything was so well seasoned. In addition, I had enough leftovers for lunch and dinner the next day. The goat platter was served on a beautiful stainless steel tray that had various partitions for the different dishes. (Where did you get this tray?! I've been obsessing over stainless steel dinnerware because they don't break and therefore can last forever which reduces waste and makes the Earth happy. Thank you Himalayan Pizza and Momo for making the Earth happy). During my second visit, I had the goat biryani which came with a side of raita (yogurt). The yogurt complements the spices so well. There were so many different spices in the dish that I lost track! Again, the portion is so generous that I had to take the rest home, which ended up being enough for both lunch and dinner the next day. There are several tables inside and they are open for indoor dining. Each time I've dined in, there have been plenty of tables from which to choose. Service is great and very considerate. The staff came over to check on me because they were concerned the biryani would be too spicy. They even tried to take the spice level down a notch for me. The biryani ended up being the perfect level of spice. I needed two glasses of water to calm my taste buds but that's how you know you're at a great restaurant. I know what you're thinking. You're wondering if you should be ordering biryani from a place that also sells philly cheesesteaks and pizza. They are catering to a wide range of customers given their location next to the Tenderloin and Civic Center. I can't speak to the pizza since I haven't ordered it but I see a lot of people come in and out of the restaurant ordering both the curries and the philly cheesesteaks. I enjoy their Butter Chicken & Garlic Naan the most, since that seems to be my usual choice. Great portion size & good flavor/quality. Their Tikka Masala Fries are such a clever idea and really good. Unfortunately I didn't enjoy the chicken cut choice they had a few times. The pieces of chicken breast were big cubes and not appealing in texture. So I haven't had them in a while. The cheesesteak is decent especially it comes with fries for a good price. It'll do the job if you're looking to be cost effective when searching for a cheesesteak. I love Indian pizza, specifically chicken tikka pizza. This place has the best chicken tikka topping I've ever had. Every other place cuts the chicken into little cubes that often get a little dried out - here they do thick slices in generous portions that are flavorful and juicy, even after being reheated the next day. I got half Himalayan special, half Royal paneer. I wish the Himalayan special had a bit more brightness like tomatoes and cilantro but it was still really good. They do live up to the "Himalayan" in their name - most of the best restaurants we have tried have Himalayan in their names and so the expectation of trying another "Himalayan" something restaurant is high and this place met that expectation! Two of us enjoyed the royal paneer pizza (small, but looks like a medium), chilli chicken Momos and vegetarian fried Momos! One thing that is as exciting as the Momos is the sauce they provide with them, and I looked forward to it: the momo sauce delivered on the flavor, not the spice of the original momo sauces I have tried in India so maybe that's something the restaurant can consider adding for the braver, spicier folks? :P The restaurant itself has a tiny seating area indoor and feels quite claustrophobic. The Momos were pretty large and had quite a bit of filling on the inside. They came with a nice dipping sauce on th side, a great combination. I decided to go for the $9.99 plate of Steamed Vegetable Momos because I loves me some momos and it had been a while since I had 'em. Very good Indian/nepalese food in the TL. Great momo's. A hidden gem. Rough-looking neighborhood (unless you're from here) but the food is solid. Not really a sit down kinda place. We went there after reading the reviews and were disappointed. This is a hole in the wall place with seating for maybe 8 people only. The entryway is full of empty pizza boxes. We ordered samosa chaat and veg Jhol momos. The tamarind sauce in the chaat was too sour. The jhol, or curry didn't have much flavor and actually ruined the momos. The filling had a decent amount of flavor but was pretty scant compared to the amount of dough. The accompanying sauce was spicy but otherwise fairly bland as well. How could I not try a Himalayan Pizza joint? Especially in my effort explore more of the hole-in-the-wall gems of the Tenderloin. This place was definitely worth navigating through all the street chaos outside! Himalayan Special Pizza: Maybe I'm nitpicking, but it felt more like an Indian pizza. The sauce was tikka masala and there were nice chunks of tandoori chicken on top. Red onions made for a good pairing. The cilantro, applied before baking, lost most of its flavor though.
