Glad we went! Been hearing about this place from friends and got to experience it recently. Cozy and lively spot in the mission. Service was excellent, SushiLa (sp) was so sweet and attentive. Highly recommend the Cashew Curry and Tingsbo. Creamy and getting fine chunks of the cashews was delicious. The tandoori octopus and kale chaat was a hit too! Since Nepal is between China and India you'll get to try influences from both countries.

Finally got around to trying Base Camp and I'm glad I did. Showed up around noon on a Sunday and it wasn't busy at all, so we were seated right away. We weren't super hungry so we decided to keep it light and just do appetizers. We ordered the pork momo, roti, pork belly bhutuwa and tandoori octopus and honestly everything was amazing. The standouts were the pork belly bhutuwa and the tandoori octopus. The pork belly was incredibly juicy and just the right portion for two people. The octopus was prepared perfectly, tender with no rubberiness at all which is always the make or break on that dish. Highly recommend all of the items we tried! The only reason I'm giving it a 4 is that they were out of the chatamari and chicken momos when we visited, which was a little disappointing since those were on my must try list. Hopefully next time they have everything in stock. Will definitely be back!

I had lunch with my two adult daughters on a day out in the Mission district. Base Camp serves Nepalese cuisine. We really enjoyed it. I let my daughters do the ordering as we all like to share dishes. We tried the watermelon feta salad, the chicken momo and the vegetable momo (dumpling-like), and naan for small plates. All were very good. Next we had two curries: the cashew curry with chicken and the pumpkin curry. Both were unique, with interesting spices and flavors and very enjoyable. It was a nice change of pace meal from what I can get back home. The service was friendly and efficient. The space is in a row house type building on the corner and has wood floors and furniture. I also want to mention that the restaurant was great about navigating my daughter's fish allergy, so that was nicely reassuring. Recommended.

Glad to find great Nepalese food in the Mission within walking distance now that we've moved further from Dancing Yak! We did a walk in and were able to sit in the parklet - unfortunately the heaters weren't working so it was a little cold, but overall service was quick and we were in and out within and hour I would say? Butter chicken had a nice sweetness and the chow mein (I got it with lamb, but would do pork next time) had really good flavor with a little kick!

Had dinner here on Friday at 5:45pm. They only had outside seating available on a covered patio. They have heat lamps which is nice when it's cold. Definitely recommend making a reservation if you want to sit inside. We got the tandoori octopus, the pork momos, chow mein with pork, the lamb matar, and a side of garlic naan. Everything was tasty and flavorful, we especially enjoyed the tandoori octopus and the chow mein. The tandoori octopus was unique and cooked well. The chow mein was good and came with crispy pork belly. The lamb matar curry was also flavored well and was great with the naan.

we came here on a sunday night without reservation and waited about 20-30mins--there aren't many tables. we thoroughly enjoyed the food, the portions (curries) are a bit more than other places so they're worth it. I wish there were more protein within the curries but the flavor was all there! we ordered the: - Mango Lassi - Kale Chaat - Butter Chicken - Cashew Paneer Curry - Garlic Naan my favorite was actually the kale chaat!

Food has amazing combination of flavors and curries that differ from the southeast Asian curries, must try the steamed bread...service was great, spot was casual dining. Would i come back? Definitely a big yes.. if you havent tried this spot make it your next, cant go wrong.

Man this place is a HIDDEN GEM. AMAZING Nepalese food. Beautiful interior too. Feels very welcoming and comfortable. Came two weekends in a row and here's what I ordered: Kale Chaat - Oh you are missing out if you don't try this. Crispy fried kale mixed with a balsamic sauce, creamy yogurt (I think) sauce, mint and crispy topping. It's the perfect balance of sour, creamy, sweet, tangy and all the textures. The dish is served cold and just feels so light. The mix of flavors is super unique and honestly I save some to eat with my curry just because it adds that element of lightness that compliments the other dishes really well. Pork Momos - I'm chinese so this reminds me of a xiaolongbao but without the soup in the middle and instead with a delicious curry flavor. Perfectly cooked skin with plenty of meat filling. Really yummy! Pork Belly Bhutuwa - Giant pieces of juicy pork belly in like a spiced oil and it comes with a tomato salsa-like sauce that balances out that heavy garam masala. Was delicious but not as impressive as the kale chaat. Butter Chicken - This was recommended by the server and I'm so glad we went with this! Probably the best butter chicken I've ever had. Just a perfect mix of savory and sweetness, which made this one taste lighter than the other ones I've had. I love that they go the extra mile and use dark meat chicken and grill it before adding to the curry, so you get the smokey charred flavor as well. We ate it with turmeric rice which was the perfect compliment. The portion is really big too! Overall, LOVE Base Camp and would highly recommend checking it out!

I have a love-hate relationship with Base Camp. The vibe is cute, and they got outdoor seating with heaters. We've taken friends here and they loved it. I just have personal beef with the wait time. The service is okay. I've been here so many times but at least 2 times we waited over 45 minutes for some momos. I feel like the server forgot to check with the kitchen and then told us they were out of chicken momos 20 minutes into waiting and then took extra 20 mins to get the momos. Were the momos fire, yes... but omg when you're hangry and craving momos this is not the place. We did come another time, and the wait was reasonable, but I just have been disappointed 1 too many times. Overall, ngl the food is pretty good, could be spicier but it is solid flavor wise. I'd still bring my friends here but with my own snacks to hold everyone over. The momos are my favorite thing to get here, but the timeliness is not consistent, so I longer have faith and now just order to go.

Such good comfort food. The momos are super fun and the sauce they come with is to die for!!! The cashew curry was a new kind of smooth and rich that I didn't know I needed in my life. It seems like the best possible rainy day food of all time! The chow mein was also really good! Really good spices and seasoning in that one :). Very nice ambiance and friendly service too! Thank you guys for a great Valentine's Day dinner :)

Lots of great vegetarian options, and great place for ordering family style. Would highly recommend their noodles and curry. If you're coming on a weekend definitely make sure to get a reservation as this place gets very busy. Just be aware that the wait time for food can be pretty long

This place doesn't get enough hype. All the food is amazing, great service, casual atmosphere. It's an incredible neighborhood gem.

Do they really have heat lamps? One review claims they do, but in the photos it doesn't look like it.

From the start we were impressed with the incredibly friendly service. To start, we got the fish pakora. Although deep fried, the pakora were crispy without being greasy or heavy, and had a nice fresh flavor when dipped in the accompanying mint sauce. For our entrees, we got the daal makhani and the mixed vegetable curry. Both entrees were very tasty, but our favorite was the daal makhani, which had a nice smoky flavor. We also got a side of garlic naan and Peshwari naan. Although I hadn't had Peshwari naan before and was skeptical about whether it would go with the meal with its sweet flavors, the filling of coconut, almonds, and sultanas was so delicious that it was my favorite part of the meal. Also, although it was sweet, it didn't have too much sweetness to create an imbalance against the rest of the things we ordered. Highly recommend this place for great food and impeccable service!
