Had lunch here. Food came out quickly, the staff working there was nice, and prices for the lunch special are reasonable. You get a ton off food so you could probably split it into two meals. I was the only person dining in but there were plenty of takeout orders. As for the food, I got the chicken tikka plate and some plain naan. The chicken was tender and flavored well, the curry was also tasty. The naan paired well with it all. The basmati rice was a little bland though. But that's minor. Overall, a good experience.

This review is based on my past experience and whether I can make something better at home. This place seems to have a great takeout business. There's not much seating, except for a couple of tables outside the restaurant. The gentleman running the place is super friendly. As for the food, I found it to be hit or miss. The Himalayan curry was very tasty, but the chicken tandoori was very disappointing. The tandoori locked any sort of flavor and it was dry. I was really looking forward to having a good tandoori, which I haven't had in a very long time. The chaat and naan were well made, but the basmati rice wasn't prepared to standard. I make basmati all the time so please take that with a grain of salt.

So happy to have them back. I just ordered the lunch special today, but fantastic as always.

    Chicken Tikka Madras

Great option for Indian food in Kailua! We both loved our dishes - Lamb Bhunas and Chicken Tikka Madras. Spice levels 6 and 7 were about right for us as spicy enjoyers as it packed a good amount of heat! The garlic jalapeño naan is great for soaking up the sauces. Service for takeout was great! Ambiance seemed nice, but we were just in there for take out.

The food is seriously incredible. Very sweet people. Quaint location. Some outdoor seating. Everything is CRAZY good including the service. Genuine food and service.

    Not sure what this is

My bf and I used to love coming here before they reopened . Tonight was a bad experience. She said our order would take 40 mins but it actually ended up being 2 hours just for the food to not be what we ordered after confirming with the her twice. We ordered tikka masala which is usually orange but this one was bright red just full of tomato sauce. On top of that she was not at all apologetic. The lamb wasn't cooked, it was hard. The chef however apologized so that's what the one star is for.

    Do they have new hours?

    Yes lunch 11:00 -2:30

Can they do a Paneer Tikka in the tandoor?

How are they with food allergy concerns?

We are cooked to order. We are very concerned and we cooked according to our customer service list.

Are there certain hours to call to place a take out order?

I called fairly regularly from 5-6:30 this evening (Monday) and got no response. I was really craving Indian food so finally my husband and I drove over. The restaurant was completely dark and there were no signs...have you shut down? There was no… Read more

Why is it called Himalayan kitchen? Dishes sound like Indian dishes. Do they have Mongolian dumplings?

No Mongolian dumplings. They do have a few curries and dishes that are not traditionally Indian, but most of the menu is very similar to Indian food.

Loved this place!! Servers were very nice. We got the pani puri, lamb vindaloo, and tadka saag…read more The pani puri came with 6 pieces and was a fun crunchy and soft appetizer. Slightly expensive in my opinion. The lamb vindaloo was so good. I am typically not a fan of lamb as I am nervous that it will taste gamey. However, this was perfectly seasoned and had no gamey taste. You are also able to adjust the spice to your tolerance level and we got mild. Although the waiter suggested medium spice for optimal flavor. We wanted to make sure everyone in our party could eat it and enjoy, so they gave us extra spice on the side. The tadka saag was a spinach curry with a splash or cream. We got it with chicken. This was my favorite curry. Very creamy and silky which was similar to the base of palak paneer. We paired all of these with their garlic naan which was the perfect addition. Although on the pricy side, I will be back again for more.

I have been wanting to come here for about a year now, and I'm so happy we finally made it happen…read more Since they're only open after 5 PM, I was lucky enough to visit on my day off. I drove about 40 minutes just to try this place, and it was absolutely worth it. In fact, I'm already planning to come back next week! The samosa was DELICIOUS! I could honestly eat it every day. It was served with three sauces that paired perfectly together: a spicy sauce, a creamy avocado chutney, and a sweet mango chutney. Every bite was amazing. I almost ordered a second one but convinced myself that I didn't need it. Good thing I didn't because I was so full! Also, the rice was HUGE portion. This was definitely shareable for more than 2 people. When we arrived, we walked straight to the back to put our name on the waitlist. There wasn't really a place to sit and wait, but luckily there's a Down to Earth and a Subway nearby. We spent our time browsing aisle by aisle through Down to Earth while waiting. After about an hour, we came back and were told we were next. They probably forgot to call us after seating a couple of people waiting at the door, but honestly, it wasn't a big deal. The restaurant itself is small, but the ambiance makes up for it. The first thing that caught my attention was the beautiful ceiling. It immediately transported me somewhere else and added to the overall experience. We were seated about 30 minutes before closing, and our server was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. She gave me her personal recommendation, and although I originally wanted the butter chicken, I decided to order her favorite instead. I'm glad I did! One of the biggest reasons I wanted to visit was because of their famous giant naan. When they brought it out, I was amazed. Everyone in the restaurant was commenting on how incredible it looked. It definitely lived up to the hype. My friend and I shared the dinner for two along with the giant naan, and it was so much food that I couldn't finish it all. I brought half of my meal home for my partner, and he loved it too. Because the space is small, everyone feels close together, and it created a surprisingly welcoming atmosphere. The tables around us were chatting about the food, complimenting the service, and talking about coming back. It felt like everyone was sharing in the experience together. The service was fantastic from start to finish. The server answered all of our questions, made great recommendations, and helped make the meal memorable. I also asked if they take reservations, and they told me it's first come, first served. Parking was easy. I parked at Longs Drugs right in front, and there is a convenient pedestrian walkway that connects the surrounding businesses, making the wait much more bearable. From the amazing samosas and giant naan to the warm service and unique atmosphere, this place absolutely lived up to the hype. After waiting a year to try it, I can confidently say it was worth every minute of the drive and every minute of the wait.

They could see my order on the counter but did not grab it for them or acknowledge them. I order the palak paneer and samosa. Palak paneer has become one of my favorite Indian dishes, but this one was extremely salty. I am usually able to eat it plain, but this definitely needed rice or naan. The samosa was crispy, but the seasonings were different than what I am used to. A lot of people have said this is their favorite place for Indian food in Hawaii, but that was not the case for me. I would definitely like to give it a second try another day.
