My wife and I were in a mood for a sandwich, and it's so disappointing that there's no good sandwich places on the Windward Side. Then we heard about Māla Market. Since we had to drive over to Kailua, we used their online ordering system which was fast and easy to use. Got two of Māla delights, which is vegetarian, with chips. Great bread and plenty of fillings. Everything tasted very fresh, was well presented, and was ready when we got there. Seating is right in front of the order window/shop. If was so good (and well priced) we came back and few weeks later. One thing I did feel was missing from the sandwich was onion (please add onion!).
I have been here three times now and the sandwiches are consistently delicious. My favorite has got to be the turkey avocado. It is packed with fresh veggies and is incredible. It is one of the most fresh and delicious sandwiches ever! The service is amazing! The sandwiches come out within minutes of ordering. Perfect to grab and take to the beach or on a picnic!
Mala Market is such a great little hidden gem in the corner of the Kailua shopping outlets. It's a small walk-up window for takeout, but don't let the size fool you--the food is seriously good. You simply walk up to the window, place your order, and within about 10 minutes you're handed a sandwich that's absolutely packed with fresh, vibrant vegetables and ingredients. Every sandwich I've had here has been stuffed, flavorful, and totally worth the price point. The service is also consistently amazing. It's always quick, friendly, and really personable, which makes the experience feel welcoming even though it's just a quick stop. This has become one of my favorite post-gym treats. There are a handful of outdoor tables nearby that make for really peaceful seating, even if you're just grabbing a bite alone and enjoying the Kailua breeze. Parking is easy too--you can park in the open lot within the shopping complex, or right across the street near the gym (which is usually where I end up parking). If you're in Kailua and want something fresh, quick, and satisfying, this little spot definitely hits the mark.

All of the veggies complement the chicken salad, too! The sandwich artists were nice and quick! I ordered and my sandwich was handed over immediately. This is more of a grab and go place! There limited seating out front, but I know other businesses share them, so I suggest taking your sandwich elsewhere -- go have a picnic or go to the beach! So good!

Outdoor seating is available (no inside area). You order at a window. Sandwich was served pretty quickly. Wife loved hers, I liked mine. We shared so got q taste of two different ones. The Italian & Turkey Avo. The Italian was much more flavorful, the Turkey Avo probably much healthier, but lacked the flavor. Bread in Hawaii tends to dry out quickly and this bread was no different. Chips were unique & tasty. Definitely filled us up. Overall, not a bad lunch
I looked on Yelp and saw these wonderful looking sandwiches so I had to try Mala Market out. I make a mean tuna avocado sandwich and the Mala Market sandwich compares favorably. I looked at the menu and saw that the tuna avocado was priced at $15.99. When ordering the person taking my order asked if I wanted salad or chips. When I declined he told me that it was included in my order so I opted for salad. He rang me up and the total was about $18.50. How does it go up from $15.99 to over $18? I didn't argue and I just sat at a table and ate half for breakfast. As I ate I inspected the sandwich and saw that there was a micro-thin slice of white cheese. So, you have this monster sandwich that is difficult to bite because it is so thick and they put a skinny slice of cheese in it. You really can't taste the cheese, no sense in adding it. I also asked if they had onions and was told that it was in the spread. I love onions in my sandwiches and couldn't taste it in the sandwich. And lastly, I like their choice of bread, I don't think the customer has an option on the type of bread. The bread was some kind of wheat slices that didn't fall apart when eating it because it was sturdy enough. Don't know if I will return. I thought my meal was kind of costly, but then again I haven't dined out very often in the past years so I am not aware of how much inflation has affected restaurants.

The dressings here are so good, and I believe that they make it in-house and you can purchase a bottle of it! My fave is their pink goddess dressing. My go-to is their tuna salad sandwich or the mala delight, which is all veg. I've also had their turkey sandwich and heard great things about their shrimp salad sandwich. Grabbing a sandwich from here and bringing to a nearby beach or hike is such a lovely way to spend the day in Kailua!
The sandwich he tastes... healthy. Not exactly my thing but maybe some else may like it. They do pack the sandwich with lots of veggies and its more like a salad between to pieces of toast than a hearty sandwich. I think that they could also give a bit more for what you pay for. It's not very filling. Although i may not like it that much, i think there is a market for this kind of food, so i hope them the best!

First time here and so happy we were able to finally try Mala Market. First, staff was super friendly and service was really fast! I had the Mala Delight with a side salad and it was super fresh delicious vegetarian sandwich. My friend had the Italian which he also liked. Great price for fresh delicious sandwich and salad (chips are also an option instead of salad). It's a small location, tucked away, order at the window and you can enjoy the beauty of the weather with outdoor seating. 100% recommend if you crave nice, freshly made sandwich! read more

My friends and I ordered Māla Market to go for a beach trip today and it was absolutely amazing. We tried a variety of sandwiches and each were an absolute hit. Healthy ingredients and so fresh!! Will definitely be back during my next visit to Oahu read more

If you're looking for fresh, delicious sandwiches made fast and to order, Mala Market in Kailua is the place to go! Their sandwiches are always incredible--flavorful, perfectly balanced, and filling without being too heavy. You can really taste the freshness in every bite! I love that they make their sandwiches on-site and super quickly, so you're never waiting long. The location is super convenient, making it an easy stop whether you're on the go or looking for a quick, satisfying meal. Also, their black iced tea is amazing--a must-try! It pairs perfectly with their sandwiches and is one of my favorites on the island. Overall, Mala Market is hands down one of my top sandwich spots in Hawaii. Each sandwich or wrap comes with a choice of salad or chips. The salad comes with a cilantro dressing and the chips are that of a regular salted potato chip (nice and crispy). The sandwich and wrap portions are substantial. All 3 of our party could not finish the entire meal in one sitting and had to save half a sandwich/half a wrap for later. Super fresh ingredients, if you're looking for a healthier option for lunch or dinner. I personally enjoyed the hummus wrap which came with a side of raspberry (?) vinaigrette. I used my chips to dip in to that vinaigrette but I also poured it over each bite of the wrap, truly addicting! Now located in Kailua Town, next to Aloha Salads; parking may be a struggle on busy days. I would suggest having someone drive around, while you hop out and order. On our way to Lanikai Beach, we stopped by to get brunch. They have wraps and sandwiches. We got the shrimp wrap with a salad. It was big enough to share between two. They gave us a pink dressing (I think it was strawberry flavor) and a lime ranch. They pair well with both wrap and salad. We also order a plantation sweet tea and it's a MUST try.! Everything was delicious.! There are tables along the parking lot to sit and enjoy your meal. They are shaded, which is a plus in my book. Even though the streets are busy, it was not noisy. I came here to just grab a quick bite for the beach, and it was the perfect stop! This location is a grab-and-go stall, so there isn't access to sit down inside. Staff is really nice, quick, and gives good recommendations. I got the chicken salad sandwich and it was delicious. The chicken salad was fresh and the veggies went amazing with it. The bread was soft and fluffy, and although we didn't have an option for it, I loved the whole grain. The only downside was that they mixed up my salad for chips. It wasn't a big deal, as it was just a mix-up, but hopefully it doesn't happen too often. read more

Not just stunning for Instagram... Māla Market has made the rainbow we all need in their sandwiches and gosh what a yummy bite and shhhhh...it's healthy!! A lot smaller than it's Hawaii Kai location this is basically just a window to place your order but don't let them fool you as they're wickedly fast as I placed my order and was taking pictures with BunBun in felt like just seconds when they called my order...oo!! I got the pastrami sandwich with salad because I just love their cilantro dressing it's so fresh and yummy I also keep forgetting you can sub out the bread for a lettuce wrap or gluten free and other options for an additional charge and no they don't have any seating but there is a few provided by Kailua Shopping Center. The order taker staff is friendly as he patiently took my order, I just love this location and the way they pack their sandwiches like a bento box showcasing their beautiful freshness making it easy to take anywhere. My fave sandwich place on Oahu! We make the drive here at least once a month to get my fix. The chicken salad is awesome! Seems like a life sandwich but it hits the spot. Lunch in Kailua, Oahu, Hawaii... Located in Kailua Shopping Center, between Lanikai Juice and Times Supermarket, the second location of Mala Market has arrived! Mala Market in Kailua opened on 8-5-23... CONGRATULATIONS! I've been to the original location in Hawaii Kai, so I know that their sandwiches are beautiful, packed with healthy ingredients, and are tasty! Service was quick and friendly! Customers line up at the window on the left to order, then pick up at the right side window. I got a Shrimp Salad sandwich with a green salad (instead of chips). The sandwich was so colorful with shredded carrots, sprouts, cucumbers, tomatoes, and purple cabbage! It was a bit messy as some shrimp fell out and dressing dripped, but that's what napkins are for, right? I didn't see a fork for my green salad, but I found the small container of delicious dressing under the greens. I'm happy that I was eating alone so no one could see my situation! Haha! I probably will return since there's a Loyalty Program! Parking is free in the shared lot, and the public restroom is nearby! read more
Māla Market truly lives up to its name! Māla meaning garden in Hawaiian, you really do get all your fresh veggies as you would see in a beautiful garden. Congrats on the new location! Great addition to Kailua. Located in the plaza across from Whole Foods. Plenty of parking spaces in the lot. Service was very friendly. Order window to the left and pick up on the right side. Big, fresh sandwiches...you really can't go wrong here! I got the Pastrami ($14.99) and Shrimp Salad ($15.99) sandwich with comes with a side of chips or salad. They use Dave's Killer bread here too, which is full of whole grains and fiber. I do wish there was more of the pastrami and shrimp, but I do like there's a variety of fresh veggies in it. Unassuming shop tucked in the corner. Decided to try it out. Glad I did, service was fast and the food was tasty. Excellent sandwich- kept seeing this on yelp so had to try it! Avocado Turkey sandwich- with choice of side salad or chips ! Got the side salad. Great sandwich full of fresh veggies turkey avocado and cheese! Served on a seeded dark bread. Very filling and quick service. I can't wait to go back soon and try their other sandwich choices. Also got their ice tea - 1/2 lemonade & 1/2 Black tea not real sweet and perfect accompaniment with my sandwich Located in a strip mall and plenty of parking even at lunch time. This is only takeout and seating in the area is very limited plan in advance as to wear to Eat your yummy sandwich. read more

I am so happy my husband and I came here for brunch! We wanted something different other than burgers and heavy lunch plates, so we decided to try this place out. Upon arriving, we were automatically greeted by the friendly staff who gave us time to decide what we wanted. The menu was simple and it gave us an idea of what we wanted right away. Yummy, fresh, and fast sandwiches conveniently packed to go. Ordered the pastrami and Italian. These sandwiches are definitely veggie forward, with a few thin layers of deli meat. It is satisfying though overall. The sauce they used for each sandwich helped to give it flavor. Opted for the side of green salad and enjoyed the herby and creamy dressing it came with.
