Consistently Great Food & Service We visit Himalayan Kitchen for special occasions because it's on the pricier side for Montana, but it's worth it. Our go-to dishes are always the chicken biryani, naan, mango lassi, and chicken tikka masala but this time we tried the butter chicken and vegetable samosas, and they were amazing. The flavors are always spot-on, and the service is fantastic. This restaurant has a cozy and warm vibe that makes it feel inviting and comfortable. It's the kind of atmosphere where you can relax and enjoy a leisurely meal with friends or family. Pro tip: If you're not into too much spice, choose level 1 (mild). This Himalayan restaurant has fantastic food with flavors that pop and generous portions. The menu is extensive and offers a large selection of vegetarian options as well. We tried the chicken pakoda, saag paneer, mango chicken and their house specialty now and which has cherries and coconut for dessert. The service was fantastic and our drinks were always full. The restaurant is very clean and everyone who works here is from nepal. The menu is so expensive you would have to eat here at least 20 times to try half of the menu. We left with a box of leftovers and we stuffed ourselves. We definitely will come back again! read more

Looking for a family owned and different style restaurant for dinner in Kalispell, MT. Himalayan Kitchen fit the bill. The flavors here a Nepalese, curries, and Indian style foods. The building is a free standing building but in need of some updating. The staff was informative as to dining choices. We ordered the basil / garlic Naan that was delicious. The chicken coconut korma was rich and tasty. It contained an abundance of soft / savory chicken. The chicken biryani was tasty and flavor packed. This location came up as indian food. However this is more of Nepali cuisine. Nepal is a country north east of India and is known for Himalayas. Nepali cuisine when compared to Indian is simpler with less elaborate spices. We ordered 2 paneer dishes and one dal with some Indian bread. We selected medium spice. For those who are somewhat tolerant to hot food there is flexibility to kick the spice level a notch. The food resembled a preparation where various ingredients are combined at the last minute. spinach paneer had no taste and would resemble pieces of indian cheese thrown into frozen spinach thawed without cooking for some time. We stopped by Himalayan Kitchen on a Saturday evening for an early Father's Day dinner for my husband. I'm so glad we did! It was early evening on a Saturday and we were pleased that our group (six of us) were able to be seated straight away. We ordered a variety of dishes to share and all were delicious. My husband and I shared an order of the aloo gobi and the vegetable korma--both were good! The star of the show? The Himalayan Kitchen special naan. It's a sweet naan (packed with raisins, coconut, and cherries) and the perfect accompaniment to any of their savory dishes. The service was on point throughout our visit. Get to it! read more

Hot. Diggity. Dawg. I am absolutely in love with Himalayan Kitchen in Kalispell. I'm pretty sure 15 years ago it was a Pizza Hut, but today it is peak in the culinary world. This place has dethroned Curry Express in Belgrade for best Indian restaurant in Montana, so far. The chana masala was melt-in-your-mouth, the chicken chilli was pretty authentic (albeit a little sweeter than my personal preference), and everyone else's orders also looked excellent. I wouldn't blink twice at finding this place in California, where it wouldn't be the best but also not the worst Indian place in the neighborhood. In Montana, it's downright excellent. read more

I really enjoyed my time here! The food was so delicious, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere was decently pleasant. I only brought my review down to a 4 because it took a while to place our orders and something about the space seemed.. unfinished. Stopped in here for eats after flying into Kalispell. I'm told the building used to be a Golden Corral or Sizzler, and they did a decent job of making it fit their cuisine. The service was GREAT. That Chicken Vindaloo at a medium level was really good. The amount was great, brought some home for leftovers. Prices were reasonable. Quite a jewel of a restaurant find. read more

Hands down, some of the best Nepalese/Indian food I have ever had. It makes me upset seeing people leave reviews under 5 stars just because of the building. Which I can understand, but if you take a minute and talk to the staff you can see it's an incredible family working so hard and bootstrapping this from the beginning. The food is absolutely incredible and you can taste and feel the love. The more we all go support with food and consistency, the more I am sure they will continue to update the building and ambience. There are not a lot of options for Indian food in Montana--and especially not Nepali food. Out of the options in the Flathead Valley, this is our favorite. The staff are very friendly, especially the manager. The portion sizes are generous, and the flavors are bold. Some things are Americanized, but not as much as the other "Indian" restaurants or food trucks in the area. Just a fair warning, if you say you want it very spicy, they will make it. (There is one chef in particular who really will deliver the heat.) We are grateful to have them in the Valley. My favorite dish is the lamb tikka masala, and my wife's favorite is the goat curry (which has traditional Nepali flavors). read more

This is the best Indian food I have had in the US! Seriously, so good. Portions are large and delicious. There is a fair amount of spice, but they are happy to accommodate non-spicy, medium or very spicy. Naan bread is delicious. There is a small casino that is attached to the restaurant which has a full bar. Worth the drive over from Whitefish for this delicious meal. So much food and so reasonably priced. This place is legit. Everything I've had here is amazing and I'm a food snob. I can count the number of restaurants I like in the valley on one hand. This one is at the top. Have ordered chicken tikka masala, lamb vindaloo, matar paneer (this one is especially amazing), garlic naan, vegetable samosa and mango lassi - 10 out of 10 every time. Gives me hope that good food will continue to make its way to this little slice of Montana. Oh and the staff is so nice - they always get a kick out of my toddler polishing his plate. Tried the Himalayan Kitchen recently because I have been craving Indian food and couldn't believe my luck when I spotted this gem right near where I work. Co-worker raved about it. Our order was to go, but the staff was friendly and very attentive. The restaurant was clean, roomy, and inviting. I ordered the Garlic Naan, Samosa Chat (flavor explosion with in my mouth), Saag Paneer (creamy & delicious), Chicken Biryani (tender chunks of chicken & fluffy, flavor filled rice), and the Tandoori Chicken (tender and delicious). I asked for medium heat on the Saag Paneer and Chicken Biryani which was just the right amount to get us sweatin' a bit. Definitely can't wait to go back and will post pictures next time. This restaurant is so good! I was so delighted when they opened up and brought Nepalese/Indian food to this Valley. It had been sadly lacking in options, aside from the Indian-run gas station that sells chicken Mahkani, rice and samosas. The food is excellent, the staff is so friendly, and they are only closed on Mondays. Run, don't walk, to Himalayan to give your taste buds a treat!! We were really hoping to love this new Indian restaurant.Some but not all of our meal was worthwhile. The prawn kadai entree was excellent, ordered as hot/spicy. It had very good heat and depth of flavor. The white rice on the side was slightly dry. The aloo paratha needed more spice and a bit more filling. It was fairly bland. The tandoori chicken tikka was very disappointing. I ordered it mild, and I think they didn't add any spice at all. The chicken was tasteless and terribly dry. Its side of lentils was actually very good in texture and flavor. I asked for a side of raita and they gave me a small cupful without charging us extra. I think we will return, but I won't be ordering tandoori for sure. They didn't do much to renovate the space. The interior is pretty drab. They've got the AC cranking on high, so I had to wear my winter coat throughout the meal. The server seated us and took our orders promptly. We only had to wait about twenty minutes for our food on a busy Saturday evening. read more

I cannot even begin to put into words how excited I am that we now have an Indian restaurant in Kalispell. Even more so since it's legit and really really good! Is it bitter sweet that it's in the same space of my former haunt rivals where I have so many memories .. sure. Was it strange sitting in my same booth I always sat in .. a bit, yeah. I never considered myself a fan of Indian food, until I tried Himalayan Kitchen. I went in just to try a new spot, and I'm so glad I did! My first visit I got the chicken curry with garlic naan. The curry was amazing! So much flavor and spice. I enjoyed it so much, I have gone there weekly for the past month. I have taken many friends and family there as well, and they all loved it.
