Holy moly! I'm obsessed. Came here for the first time today and everything was perfect. I don't love my Indian food spicy and this was just right, no spice but tons of flavor. We ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Tandoori Chicken variety platter and everything was so flavorful and good size portions. Fluffiest naan ever. Not to mention, everything was priced fairly. First off I wanna say our waiter, Ruben, was friendly and attentive. He made sure we were taken care of, especially since it was our first time there. The portions are big, and the food came out hot and fast. We started with the Chicken Mo Mo appetizer and they were so good. Soft, juicy dumplings with a dipping sauce that was perfect and comes with a slice of a carrot and cucumber. (They have a vegan mo mo as well) The Garlic Chicken Sekuwa comes out sizzling on a hot plate so be careful. The chicken was tender, served with grilled veggies. It's also one of the only meals that comes with garlic naan, otherwise you have to order it separately. Also make sure you order a one side of rice, it's a big enough portion to be shared for all meals ordered, at least it was for us. We also tried the Butter Chicken, which was creamy, rich, and full of flavor. Pro tip: the garlic naan + butter chicken cream = godlike combo. Not pictured: Mango Lassi. Was visiting here with family at Big bear. Went here based on 3.8 reviews in the yelp. Ordered chilli chicken, chicken vindaloo, saag chicken, fried rice, and naan. The only dish I liked was veg fried rice bacuse of more vegetables not just carrots and peas. I have no idea how they make the chilli chicken which was not exactly chilli chicken, just because you add capsicum doesn't mean chilli chicken dish. Chicken vindaloo was not at all good, it was not tasty. Saag chicken was ok, but not upto satisfying. Really dont recommend this Indian Cusine. This grill lamb is tasty. It come with lentil soup, salad, rice, vegetables curry. We also got the chicken curry. It come with same side. Lunch is the best to go in this area. One of the most disappointing dining experiences I've had in a long time. We waited over 40 minutes for very simple dishes, and nothing came out. When we finally asked, the food suddenly appeared within minutes -- clearly sitting for a long time. The lamb curry was barely warm. We were told the chicken was unavailable, yet a later table received it. Even the replacement dish arrived without the sauce. This restaurant and bar is located in the heart of the Big Bear village. The bar and lounge area is surprisingly spacious and cozy. My mimosa was so refreshing and tasty, hubby liked his champagne too. I am not familiar with Indian food so I didn't want to try any. But we will give it a try next time we are in town. My group and I were excited to try this spot out, however we were irritated with the entire experience. The wait was way longer than they had told us and when the food came out, the portions were a lot smaller than expected. Another yummy adventure for us. This time we were in Big Bear and wanted something with lots of savory flavor. Someone recommended the Himalayan Restaurant for Indian and Nepalese cuisine. What a TREAT! First, the ambiance is lovely, with art and decor from India. They have the Bombay bar and Lou GE one one side and the Himalayan gift shop on the other. The music is Indian and is the kind of sweet sounds I fell in love with on my trips to Southern India. The service was great. Prompt, efficient, and not overbearing. I do not like when the food service staff come to the table every 5 minutes...or never. Lol They were attentive and let us take our time. They staff did ask if we "were parents" though, which I thought was so weird. We are a Butch/femme (queer) couple and I think he was trying to ask if we were related (not a couple). The food...well...YUM. The chicken tikka masala was to die for. Creamy, savory, tender, and delicious. The apricot naan was something I have never tried, and it was the best thing ever. OMG! Flaky, softly crispy naan stuffed with layers of apricot fruit (not like jam or preserves). It was like something I would be served in heaven. And finally, I had a raspberry lemon, drop martini, which was perfectly sweet, ice, cold and delicious. We will definitely eat here again. read more

It was my oldest daughter's birthday, and she wanted to come here. She loves the tikka masala (mild), and my wife loves the tikka masala (medium) and I like the tandoori chicken. They have this red chili paste which goes really well with the tandoori chicken. If you don't like spicy food, don't get the red chili paste. However, if you like spicy food, I recommend it. We got the lunch special, which usually comes with a salad, this time it came with some kind of white yogurt sauce. I thought it tasted like sour cream, I would rather have a salad. The service was great, they accommodated us exceptionally. The restaurant was also clean, they were cleaning the glasses and silverware on their "downtime." Years ago we attempted to try this place but left because staff wouldn't even make eye contact to seat us in an almost empty restaurant. But This place has a great reputation with a lot of my friends and family so we decided to try it out again with some friends last night. The food isn't bad. I've never eaten Indian food before so I really couldn't tell you if it's exceptional or not for what it is. But everyone at my table said good things about their food. The ambience is really nice and the chairs were comfortable. Service was probably the worst I've ever had at any place on the mountain. There were 4 of us, our server came to take drink orders. He took everyone's order and before I could even say what I wanted he turned around and walked away. He returned a few moments later with everyone's drinks and again quickly turned and walked off as we tried to get his attention to give him my drink order. Someone at my table grabbed his attention the next time he walked by and I was able to finally give my order. It was strange to say the least. He came back, took food orders, then a food runner brought us our food. We never saw our server again after that unless you count the times we saw him and 3 other staff literally standing there with their hands behind their back doing nothing but watching guests eat. No refills, no checking to see if we needed anything else. I'm not the type to get mad if you're actually working and busy and can't get to us all the time because you're overwhelmed but if you're just standing around why aren't you serving your tables? read more

The best Indian food I've ever had! I ordered the vegetarian Thali combo for lunch and it came with two choices, lentils, rice, naan and salad. I had the palek paneer and okra with tomatoes and believe it was the best I've ever had! The servings were generous, so I will have leftovers for dinner. It has been several years since we have eaten here. We always liked the food but the service was always slow. This visit we came on a Tuesday evening around 5:30. We were seated right away. Our waiter was nice and he was very helpful with our dinner guest who was very hungry but not familiar with the cuisine. We started with the chicken pakauda. Very crisp and tasty, sort of upscale chicken nuggets. Kids would love this. Our guest ordered the chicken soup. He said it was very good. It looked good. We all ordered the mixed grill which is an assortment of chicken, shrimp, and lamb with grilled vegetables. Our guest didn't want lamb and your waiter happily granted his substitution. We ordered vegetable fried rice for the table. Our order arrived at our table sizzling hot. It was a beautiful presentation and it was a lot of food! My husband and I could have easily shared one order. We had enough for dinner the next night. Our meal came with Naan bread. I really liked that it had a little crispiness to it. Our food was excellent and best of all we didn't have to wait long for it. I'm glad we came early because the restaurant began to fill up after we arrived. I do not like the decor. The place needs an update but the food makes up for it. I would have given 5 stars but we did have to wait quite a while for our check. In fact I had to ask another waiter if we could get some containers and our check or we would have sat there even longer. I believe people are used to this type of service there. We've eaten here several times and have had to wait like this but this time we didn't have to wait for our food. This place does good business and the food is good. We came to the restaurant on a cold Thursday evening and were looking forward to a warm and spicy, highly recommended meal. The first warning sign that things may not be as expected was after spending several minutes deciding what to order, we placed the order only to find out they were out of spinach. After taking more time to re-decide what to order, we noticed the chairs were rickety and unstable. We ended up ordering the butter chick and aloo gobi, medium spice for both. When the order came, the portions were way smaller than expected, and the curry was not spicy at all. Basmati rice was not well made, almost had the texture of broken rice. Everything on the menu was a la carte, so raita, chutney, and even rice was extra cost. The best part of the meal was the naan. It was very fluffy and had a crispy texture. Halfway through the meal, the back door opened for what seemed to be construction work on the adjoining bar area of the restaurant. The door remained open for the remainder of the meal, i had to put my jacket back on and my last bites of food literally went cold on my plate. I have no idea why this restaurant comes so highly recommended on so many blogs and websites for restaurants in the area. But I could see a few small improvements that could make the overall experience more enjoyable. read more

Went here because of the rave reviews on Yelp. Unfortunately, it fell a little short of my expectations. While we were seated pretty quickly, it took quite a while for our food to arrive. I've noticed people mentioning the restaurant being understaffed. I ordered the chicken tikka masala because it was the most popular based off Yelp. It was super creamy and flavorful. One of the best I've had! I also tried the Chicken Momos but weren't too impressed with them. My friends and I all experienced some sort of stomach upset after eating here so not sure what caused it. Maybe the chicken or the rice. But you've been warned! Although I had to wait a while for the food and I had an upset stomach, I'm giving this three stars because the staff were so friendly.
