Service was outstanding, with multiple servers attending to things like refilling water, changing eating utensils and plates, explaining the exotic ingredients. We visited this restaurant over the wkend. We had their chicken curry, with garlic naan and their crispy yak chilli. Both dishes came with rice. They also offered some complimentary fried rice bread, this was slightly sweet and very greasy. Staff were friendly and offered advice on the menu. The chicken curry was pretty good the yak was just ok, very similar to beef. The decor is nice in that it's modern and spacious, but a little too dark for afternoon lunch. Toilets were dirty and the doors are really heavy, so it's a challenge getting in and out with toddlers. read more

Our first time here, and we absolutely loved it, the food, staff, and the place itself. After we were seated, they brought out sel roti and mula ko achar, which were so tasty. Selroti not very sweet, soft, and delicious. We mostly ordered from the appetizers to try out the authentic nepali dishes like the choila, Bhutan, momo, and taas, and everything we ordered was made to absolute perfection. We ordered juju dhau and gulab jamun for desert, which were equally delicious. Overall, we had a great experience. We definitely recommend himalayan Wild Yak. We were curious about this new place near us and we're absolutely delighted with the whole experience ! First, staff and service were attentive, efficient and very nice. The food was amazing ! Appetizers, especially the wild boar were excellent. Our entrees of yak korma and biryani were delicious with extremely generous portions. Pretty good place. We tried the chicken momos not sure what they should taste like, but I thought they were a little bland but not bad. The pork belly was really good, crispy outside soft and tender inside. The crispy grilled yak chilli was ok. The yak wasn't very crispy, and had a very powerful flavor. It wasn't bad, but it also wasn't something we would order again. The yak korma was really good I would order that again. We didn't really care for the desserts: rice pudding and kurauni, but the chai tea was really good. Finally, the price is pretty reasonable we had cocktails, apps, entrees, desserts, coffee and tip for $140. read more

The service here is fantastic which is always a plus, but more importantly, the food is delicious. The pork belly appetizer is a must! The samosas are good too but nothing to raveeee about. The chicken tandoori and the butter chicken are always a solid and good choice. Everything else we've tried has been, at worst, "just good". There's nothing we've tried that's been unenjoyable. Based on a couple of recommendations from my friends I decided to go there with more friends. We tried to order almost everything they have in the appetizer. Everything taste yummy and the service was great too. In the end, we ordered tea thought of it might taste like "somewhat" similar to what we normally drink in Mustang but ended up all of us not liking it. Never had Himalayan food on my food bucket list, but couldn't be happier about what I ate. I ordered the grilled yak. Way more lean than beef but because of the preparation, it was incredibly tender and flavorful. I also ordered the goat curry which was also amazing. You get so much food it's ridiculous. Just visiting, but will definitely figure out a way to make it back. My only warning is don't be in a rush, the service is great but on the slow side. Came here for a work dinner since it is walking distance from my office. I was very happy with the service . The appetizers came out quickly and although we had to wait a bit for the main courses , they did not disappoint. The ambience is quiet and conducive to work conversations. Fantastic restaurant with brilliant service. We went late night on Friday and were severed with the most amazing food. The fried bread and chilli chicken was on the house! The fried bread came with the most amazing pickle that I have ever tasted and I have been to all Indian restaurants in Ashburn. Let's be honest, Himalayan Wild Yak is a hidden gem in Brambleton. Here's the deal. I think this place makes amazing drinks and has stellar food. I sat at my usual place at "The bar" tonight and had less than stellar service. I'm going to chalk it up to a bad night and not dwell on it to much. Maybe they were short staffed, maybe people were having a bad night... I had bad service, some eye rolling and even cold food, BUT I'm still going to come back. Now, if you're reading this and only see four stars, please don't let my review turn you off. The food is usually amazing so they might be experiencing some growing pains. The food is Indian-ish. Don't come here looking for typical Indian food, because it's not. But, if you like Indian food, this place will blow your mind. The crispy kale alone is worth the trip. If you can't make up your mind, order the "set meal". The momos are all very good but the yak has a little spicy kick that the others don't (I personally love them). You can't go wrong with anything on the menu unless you think you're going to get traditional Indian... because it's not. This restaurant has a nice feel and we had a great waitress. The sel roti they started us with was not freshly fried and was not good at all. I imagine fresh this stuff is delicious, but definitely not after sitting around for a while. Momos were very nice as was the pork belly although very simple. The yak stew, goat, and lamb korma were all tasty but the tandoori chicken was dry. Also, was it happy hour at 5:30 when we got there? No one mentioned it if it was. I am no expert on Nepalese cuisine, but this place is distinctive. I have visited twice now, and will be returning. I have ordered both vegetable and yak momo. The sauce on both is a polished tomato garlic blend that is by Indian food standards mildly spicy. The ground yak in the momo has a seasoning that is aromatic and earthy. It flirts with both your taste buds and your olfactory senses. I liked it a lot. The veg momo is light and aromatic. It complements the sauce beautifully. The mouth feel and aromatics play off the mildly spicy sauce melodiously. I use sous vide cooking at home. On the menu they disclose that the grilled yak steak is cooked sous vide for 8 hours. It is specified as medium rare. So I ordered that on my second visit. Your medium rare strip steak is easily done in 90 minutes, an extra hour if you start with it frozen. The yak steak is very lean and very tender. The extended time is necessary to break down the connective tissue in the lean yak steak. The result is like a very beefy lean venison steak. I have eaten at fine restaurants around the country and across most of Europe. Here I found new tastes, distinctive aromatic dishes, and good service. When my family collects in this area, I will bring them here. Don't miss this gem. read more

We were at Himalayan Wild Yak last night with a party of 13 to celebrate a birthday and a going away. We ordered a cocktail at the bar, and three bottles of wine for the table. Wine had not even been poured when the fire alarm sounded. The noise was deafening, we tolerated for a few minutes before heading outside with our empty glasses and bottles of wine. After 30 minutes of standing around, with no end in sight to the alarm blaring, we told our server we were going to give it 15 more minutes before leaving to dine elsewhere, which we did. We settled our bill and were quite disappointed there wasn't any accommodation at all after an hour of more than just an inconvenience. A customer driven business would have, at the very least, comped a bottle of wine (which we had not even opened). Apparently satisfied and repeat customers are not important or appreciated. read more
