Ducktache's restaurants continues to serve innovative twists on sushi again and again. Himari delivered on quality and quantity with this $95 for 2 omakase. The edamame was tossed in a lime infused oil and flakey sea salt, perfect balance between fat acid and salt. The tuna tostada was an amazing bite size dish. The chip was home made and had a very satisfying bite and crunch. The truffle oil paired very well with the tuna on top. The wagyu pitchfork combined Japanese roots with Texas barbeque culture. It was crunchy, had a kick of jalepeno, and tasted a little like smoked brisket. It felt like eating Truth BBQ in a roll. Masu Viche was refreshing like ceviche eaten at the sea. The apple provided a satisfying crunch with cilantro lime oil on salmon. It was the perfect blend between two cultures. I am sad that they did not provide the matcha yuzu tiramisu I was hoping for (my party had a tree nut allergy so maybe that's why), but the ube tres leches did not disappoint. I tasted fresh whipped cream, a sponge cake soaked in a deep purple ube syrup, and tiny bite size mango chunks that added a new chew to each bite. This dessert I would classify as truly "not too sweet" as Asian immigrant parents like to say as a praise.

How damn cute! They go over the top with their to go/delivery packaging. Sushi is good and travels well. The edamame was a great surprise - not your typical boiled and salt. It was that but also charred on a grill that added a little plus plus. We'll order from them again.

There's seating outdoors, inside at the sushi bar, tables, and more seating upstairs. I noticed that they used machines to give proportionate amount of rice for the nigiri and rolls. This is nice to have consistent amounts of rice for each dish. I do wonder if this would make service slow or not because it did take awhile to get our food. There were a lot of to go orders and the way they package the items looked top tier. I did see they had a reasonable price for omakase for 2 ($95). This alone I think is worth trying this place out. However, I was not hungry enough for their omakase. I don't know if the machine played a roll in it but the seaweed was a bit soft and got stuck onto the dish. This made the quality of the rolls disappointing. The fish tasted fresh but I think the flavors and ingredients overpowered the fish. I would have liked ingredients that would elevate the fish and make it stand out as the highlight of the rolls. However, I thought they did a good job with presentation in each dish. I tried the rainbow row and that was a bit hard to eat because the seaweed got stuck onto the wooden board. I also thought the menu didn't reflect all of the ingredients that were inside of the rolls. They list the main stuff but not everything else. For example, I noticed that there was asparagus inside of the rainbow row but it isn't listed. For that reason I'd give it 3 stars. I wouldn't order this again. The next item I tried was the yuzu kissed and this was my favorite out of everything I've tried. I do think that it was missing something that would balance out the citrusy flavor but nevertheless it was still tasty as long as you don't douse the fish in the sauce, 5 stars. I also tried the Wagyu pitchfork and I think something that would've made this taste better would be a sauce maybe like an eel sauce. This would also get 3 stars for me. The spicy tuna roll was 3 stars for me and it was more so of the texture of the tuna. The tuna felt like it was stuffed in the roll and was like a soggy texture. Some of the tuna fell out as I was eating it and it also made the seaweed wrap around it a bit moist. I think if you go here you definitely should get the sashimi that way you could actually taste the quality of the fish. I tried the medium tuna and fatty and these were actually what I would expect from a place like this. The quality was there but the other items didn't hit the mark for me. The other item I tried was the Japanese scallop and the scallop was tasty and had that smooth buttery texture. The seaweed again kind of ruined the scallop for me. It felt like the scallop was shoved into the roll and was all soft and squishy when I picked it up.

We stopped here for lunch and realized that the building has different eating restaurants with a nice outdoor area to relax at (if it wasn't so hot outside). The interior of Himari is a tad small but you can see them make the sushi while you wait for your food. We ordered the spicy tuna, crispy tuna and mixed tempura. The tempura was good, and came with shrimp, onions and sweet potatoes. The spicy tuna was meh, I didn't like the texture of the tuna since it was too mushy or the slight aftertaste. I also wasn't a fan of the crispy tuna for the same reason. The rice had a nice crunch but the crunch and mushy tuna together just didn't work for me. The service was good and the servers were friendly.

I came here to get the BOGO donburi special that they sent me an email about but the code didn't work online. When I called they were able to apply it for pick up which works out either way. the only negative is that the rice was steaming which means for the second bowl (yes I ate two) the fish was kind of cooked which made me sad because they are thin pieces of fish and I love the raw. It was still tasty and high quality fish but perhaps in the future if the rice wasn't steaming hot before the chirashi goes on top, that would be nice.

Arrived at Himari today and really did have a great experience! It is a small setting but it left a big impression! Sat at the bar and ordered hot saki and sparkling white wine as an added kick( both were great by the way), and then for starters we got a crispy tuna roll, which was very good, ( tuna on a bed of fried rice cake cut into rectangles , with chives and trimmings on top) order of the chicken karage , that was fried to perfection, spicy / juicy goodness and everything you want from fried chicken!, and lastly got the nigiri sampler with premium pieces of very fresh , melt in you mouth sushi! And all of this was available at happy hour prices because we got there before 5, except for the chicken karage and sparkling wine! Service was also STELLAR! I will be back for sure!!!

Happy Hour!!! On a Saturday!!! Oh yeah.... Very cute, place that has an outdoor section where kids can play. I enjoyed my lychee martini, and sushi choices. They were served in beautiful dishes and presentation was on point. I will definitely be back and they are apart of the restraunt week. The service was great as you don't have one, but two waiters which is great.

A few friends and I recently visited for the first time to to check out their Houston Restaurant Weeks menu. There's plenty to unpack here. The first is the location is at the Stomping Grounds. It's a vibe however it can run very heavy with young families and kiddos running around in the evening hours. If you're trying to sit outside for a date or something, it probably isn't the the best spot. As far as the establishment goes, it's quaint and small. A few tables upstairs on the second floor, which is where we were sat. Warning, if you run a bit cold all the time, it may be worth bringing a sweater as the ac vents are up here so.it runs colder. Food - 4* We ordered the HRW menu and while everything was delicious the portions were pretty small and we all left a bit hungry. The highlights were the kanpari, spicy yellowtail, and spicy tuna. The cocktails were ok, nothing special. Service - 2* This is where we really were disappointed. Our first couple of courses came out fairly quick, nothing great, nothing bad. The third course took quite awhile while the dessert took another entire hour. It was getting ridiculous and we finally said we just want to get our bill and leave. It was only then the dessert seemed to finally show up. The damage was done though. We had decided already that we would not be coming back. They did try to make it right by taking two of the drinks off the bill. Cost - 3* The portions were small for what we would have expected, even with the HRW special. Overall - 3* The vibe is cool, not too loud or obnoxious and a good spot for a small group of friends to enjoy. That stated, the biggest disappointment was the service. We were there for nearly three hours for the four courses and still left hungry (probably because we waited so long). I doubt we'll be back however there is plenty to checkout nearby!

We came in a large party, made reservations in advance. Upon arrival, we were a little confused, how could they fit a party of 10 in this small space? We were directed to head upstairs, no elevator access. The courtyard play area could be viewed from upstairs. Our server was very friendly and patiently went over the menu. We were all first timers dining. My hubby and I were pleasantly surprised by the pricing on the sushi set so we opted to try the C set. I felt it was worth the money for $56. That was 12 pieces of nigiri, 3 pcs sashimi, and a small maki to finish it all. All pieces were really good and fresh. Here's what you get below. Sushi Set C: - Choice of Tuna, Salmon, or Yellowtail Sashimi (3pcs) - Medium Fatty Tuna (2pcs), Tuna (2pcs), Salmon (2pcs), Seabream (2pc), Amberjack (2pc) Yellowtail (2pcs) Nigiri - Yellowtail Roll We also order the two crudo, the Yuzu Kissed and Spicy Yellowtail. Both were nice portions, fresh, and delicious. I would order everything again. I would like to come back to try their happy hour, daily from 11 AM to 5 PM. Maybe I'll try on a day that I'm off or on the weekend because 5 PM is rough trying to get there after work. Parking here is a little weird, no upfront parking as the restaurant's entrance door faces an interior courtyard with limited point of entry. However, seems to be plenty of parking in private lot. There are other nearby options in the same center, to hang out afterwards.

Had a great dinner at Himari! I was celebrating my boyfriend's birthday and we really enjoyed our meal. Everything was prepared swiftly, fresh, and had good flavor. I thought the Karaage was unique - it's fried in a different way than most other restaurants do it. I liked it because it had a cleaner feel - it didn't feel like I was just eating fried chicken. I thought the Kanpachi had great flavor! The first bite is fragrant with orange, and then it shifts into the light taste of the amberjack that's soaked up some of the flavor from the sauce. Interior feels slightly modern, upscale, and casual. I made a reservation but ultimately it wasn't necessary. Access Himari by entering through the Stomping Grounds (the astroturf field). Parking anywhere in the shared lot should be free! There's a decent amount of parking available.

Came here to finally try their lunch menu. I love the set up of the restaurant. I do enjoy sitting at the bar and kind of watching their prep of the sushi and dishes. The service was good and friendly. The pieces are not big I'd say maybe on the smaller size probably lunch size. I'd say the pricing is mid-tier to high-tier if you wanna be full. Most of the pieces of fish were super buttery and delicious! I can't remember all of the names of them unfortunately.

It's only been 3 months since we first came here, and I was looking for the same great service and food, but sadly, I was met with a disappointing experience!! We sat at a two top and basically ordered a few of our favorites from their $95 omakase menu, but it just wasn't the same. The soft shell crab was overcooked, and my spicy tuna roll was pretty dry and lacked flavor! The only thing that remained consistent was their medium fatty tuna nigiri. The server who initially came by and asked us what we wanted to drink, somehow just completely forgot about us and never came back around to our table after the drinks were delivered. It would've been nice to have some transparency or a heads up that we need to flag down another server or that someone else will be serving us for the rest of our meal experience. Sadly, we prob won't be returning and it's kinda unfortunate that they are linked to some of my other favorite restaurants around town. It just wasn't their day.

After this discussion, I said fine and asked for a menu. They then told me I had to get up and order at the register and view the menu glued to the counter. They took the order of a couple who sat down maybe 2 minutes before me in front of me. I will never come back to this place. They seem to be the last man standing in this dining hall, and with this kind of customer service, they won't last much longer. The restaurant week lunch was fine, but the nigiri really stood out. I wish they would've had even just one nigiri on the restaurant week menu. The kombu salad was good & had nice flavor without being too overpowering. The hamachi crudo was awesome!! I'm a big crudo fan, but this one was above and beyond my expectations. All of the flavors played so well together & my yellowtail was so fresh and light and buttery. I loved the creaminess of the sauce & how it balanced the acidity of the tomatoes & onion so well. I savored every bite. Honestly the hand rolls left a lot to be desired. The kani hand role wasn't super great. The flavor was mid & the texture felt a bit off.
