Lunch time with lots of friends

Aury have us really great service! He started letting us know about the menu since it was our first visit. He offered a favorite sushi roll suggestion as well. The restaurant was open and spacious with seats for groups and individuals. And we tried everything from the dragon, to the Gemini to the caterpillar, and uni "shooters". We ate great food. We also had edemami and miso soup. There were a lot of people in the restaurant but it didn't allow them down, they were really quick and thoughtful and the food was made to order. I'm very pleased. I'll recommend and return. This is a good place to stop and eat, we did lunch AYCE. Even the parking was easy to find and park close.

We were recommend this place by a friend and it was pleasantly good. The staff were attentive and kind and the rolls we got were tasty. I think what set this place apart from other spots was the well portioned rolls, nigiri, and the variation of fillings inside the rolls. I feel some places go heavy and hard on the fried shrimp but Umi had a wonderful mix of fish and shrimp and other roll fillings. My favorite hands down was the Vegas roll with the savory tuna, followed by the crown shrimp roll with a mayo topping the really brought out the umami flavor. While this spot is a little out of the way for us I definitely plan on revisiting soon and recommend this as a go to spot for both locals and those who are traveling from outside the area.

We had a great experience at Umi sushi for lunch today. I had never been and our friends wanted to go. They sat the 4 of us right away. A server came and he recognized my friend from the other week and greeted him. Some people have mentioned the fish being small on the nigiri. Smaller than some other restaurants, but the fish to rice ratio is good. There were a lot of good options for the rolls. I tend to like ones that have some lemon and they tasted nice and fresh. I felt the crystal shrimp was more crisp than some other places like it hadn't been sitting as long. We did get checked on frequently so had no issues with ordering. While it was nice having things come out at different times, we did have a pause and forgot about some rolls we ordered and were stuffed by the end. Next time, I think we would order rolls in 1 roll increments versus 2 of the same flavor for 4 people.

Reluctant to go with the family but I am glad I did! Great place and wonderful nigiri sushi with escolar and butterfish! I liked that it was a lot of fish and very little rice on the nigiri. I didn't feel sick after eating and the quality was fresh. The only thing is the rice needs to be cooked a little less. Will definitely go again.

Came back for more sushi. If I am decided where to sushi, this is the place. I brought my date here for his bday and he knew nothing about Umi sushi's small size approach to rolls. He thought they were super cute and a genius idea. Less carbs, more of the good stuff, and smaller rolls=more variety to try. I can't remember names of things well so I actually have taken notes on the rolls I like in my phone. See photo for my list. The two lemon ones have my heart. We order three of them. We came in around 4:30 and had all you can eat and we're out in about an hour. I didn't love their potstickers. Too wheaty or something. I like them more chewy and translucent.

Good service, trendy decor, disappointing food. Cucumber salad was terrible. It still had the skin on it. The Yakiton, Gyoza, Egg Roll, and Mussels were not a good temperature at all. They were all borderline cold, like it wasn't heated up all the way. The egg rolls, gyoza and miso soup tasted store bought. The yakiton was weirdly shaped and lacked filling but it was probably the best out of all the appetizers. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they were store bought too. Nothing here tasted authentic. The sushi pieces were really small which could be considered a plus if you want to try a lot of different ones. The sushi was decent. Not great but not bad. I did enjoy the nigiri though. If I were ever forced to come here again I would just get that. This place is like if someone with money and no knowledge of good sushi said "People in Reno like AYCE sushi, I'm going to open an AYCE sushi restaurant" and did it.

This actually is hands down the best sushi I have had in Reno. Now if I'm honest, I've had some amazing sushi around the country and of course Reno AYCE doesn't even come close to that. But for Reno AYCE, this place is 5 stars for sure. Every single thing was fresh tasting, no warm sushi (my pet peeve), and there was definitely some real creative options here. Service was great, they kept every dirty plate clear the second you took the last roll off, love that. Ambiance was pretty good too, soo many sushi places in Reno just have no decorations at all and just give mall vibes, this place had a bit of a personality to it. We will be back for sure, this is our new go to spot.

Went a little over a month ago for my birthday. Happened to be a Sunday and went to my usual spot on Longley and McCarran but found out that they were closed on Sundays. Never knew since we've never gone to sushi on Sundays so off to Umi Sushi! We've eaten here a couple times before but it's been awhile. We were seated to the right as soon as you walked in the door. First thing I noticed (more like felt) was that every time the door opened, I felt a cold draft on my legs. My whole party (there were 6 of us) felt it too. *Mental note to not seat so close to the door next time I eat here. They have a decent sized menu but not as big as others. Nevertheless, we ordered until we were full (reaching sushi coma). They did have mochi which was great since I haven't had that in over 6 months. Didn't know about their free birthday sushi until I got there so that was also a PLUS. Overall, great value and great time with family.

I've been here a couple of times when we're on this side of town and I've always had a good visit. One of my favorite part about this restaurant is the portion size of the sushi. The AYCE deal is great because rolls are smaller which gives you more room to try out different rolls. I would say if I got those rolls on a la carte I would be disappointed. The servers were nice and catered to what we needed. The restaurant was open and big enough for groups. I don't love that they charge like kids under 5. My daughter just turned 3 and had half a bowl of rice and 3 pieces of calamari rings and was charged $10.99. Overall, it was a good visit and will come back.

The sushi here is fantastic... fast, sushi had very little rice and tasty. There were three servers, but only one had partial command of the English language. Not being a spoiler, but could not communicate effectively and efficiently. Asked for a glass of ice and received a chilled glass. Asked for more ordering menus and none came (asked 4 times).

My boyfriend and i discovered this place about 3 years ago when we were new to the area. The sushi is so fresh and the rolls are unique, they are not too big so you can order many. However, the food is the only reason we continue to come back. The past few times we have gone the service isn't great. Our waters run empty and they only come around to bring the check. The chefs are always nice and on top of it! I recommend sitting at the bar if you're doing AYCE

I absolutely love this place. Best sushi in town! The rolls are smaller than normal, but this is a plus! You can try so many other rolls at a great AYCE price. The staff and owners are amazing and try their best to make every experience memorable. Byron always recognizes us as regulars and treats us kindly. The ambiance is upbeat and friendly.

Came here for a birthday celebration and it was such a good choice. The biggest win for me was the roll size, they're smaller, which means you get to try more without feeling overly stuffed. Perfect if you like variety or are doing all-you-can-eat. The vibe really adds to the experience too. High ceilings, open space, and a lively but comfortable energy that works great for groups and celebrations. If you're someone who loves tasting a little bit of everything and wants a spot that feels fun without being overwhelming, this place is worth checking out. Great service, very nice and fast.

Decor is a bit overdone, but that seems to fit the vibe of anywhere with casinos, so can't blame them for trying to fit in. A bar dominates the view from the entrance, then ample tables of several sizes to the right. We filled the rear corner (two giant tables) and had mostly good food, although the sweet and sour chicken was forgettable. A fried squash (pumpkin?) was delectable, had some very good bean curd/mixed veggies, the Sichuan water fish did the job but was a bit short from the best I've had-- which to be fair is tough because there is so much Sichuan food everywhere these days. A second veggie dish with lotus root was also excellent, and the sweet and sour pork, while not memorable, was distinctly better than the sweet and sour chicken.

I thought I would go to Toucan Sam's Buffet on Saturday night. Mistake. So I looked next door and found Red Bloom. What a great find. First of all, all the reviews note speedy and effective service and they were correct. Spot on. A spaceous, clean and efficient place. Now the food. Started with the tempura shrimp and Chinese broccoli. Wow!! The shrimp were large and succulent. The batter was perfection and the oil was fresh. I mean wow wow wow! The brocoli was very interesting. Served with a tasty sauce with garlic. So good. Wife had the pork belly adobo. Holy beans was this good. I would go as far as to say--best pork belly I've ever had. The servings are massive. This is easily a dish for two. I was blown away at this tender and tasty dish. All large plates come with a big bowl of rice fyi. Wowzer. I ordered the Szechuan chicken, it had two hot peppers to indicate very hot. It wasn't. It was seasoned perfectly, don't be shy, try it. The bowl is huge, again, plenty for two. Bell peppers, onions, and tons of tender white meat chicken. This is one tasty dish. Again, also a big bowl of rice. Wow again. Overall, this place was AMAZING. I love being surprised like this, especially after the let down of the mile long buffet line. That let down did not last long and I wish I could adjust the one star reviews of this place. So unfair--this is a five star experience all the way!! Great job Bloom, you rock it!

Located on Virginia Street (about 1-1.5 miles from Atlantis and Peppermill hotels), Minato offers AYCE sushi as well as a la carte items if you're not feeling that hungry. We decided on this particular ayce because they had black garlic ramen, which the SO was craving. The inside is dim with natural light busting through the blinds, warped from the Reno summer sun. We were seated in a half booth against the drink fridge, which felt a little cramped. The AYCE is pretty good value at $25 for lunch on a weekend. This includes appetizers, nigiri, hand rolls, and regular rolls. I enjoyed the hamachi the most as it was super tender/buttery. Some of the fish did end up with a metallic aftertaste, but it was minimal. I should have opted for hand roll version of the rolls I was interested in. The long rolls were more for sharing with a group. The SO's meal of black garlic ramen with a bulgogi beef side add-on (+$5) was delicious and hit the spot for him. Service was great. The prices are very reasonable for the soup ranging from probably around $11 to $18 if you get the very large seafood udon. My daughter always gets the all you can eat sushi. Nigiri has good fish to ride ratios and the quality has been good. Prices for this are similar to other places in town. The restaurant can get really busy some days as they are not super large. The service has more recently been consistently good as the servers have now been there for a while. There is not sushi bar setting as that other section of the restaurant near the bathrooms is really utilized except maybe the large table for a larger group.

Well slap my a** and call me Betty! Haha I have been eating all-you-can-eat (AYCE) sushi in Reno…read morefor over 10 years now and this is the first place I've been able to actually taste how good the fish actually is. To be clear, this is not an AYCE sushi restaurant, and there's other offerings besides sushi including ramen, salad, steaks, and various teriyaki plates. Apparently the food is hand selected by the owner, and helped prepared by the Japanese wife in the kitchen. From what I understand, the line cooks follow traditional Japanese ways including only being able to make a sushi roll after being a line cook for 5 years. As for the food itself, these are the things I've tried: -Maguro (tuna) sashimi: absolutely delightful -Sake (salmon) nigri: really good -Unagi (Eel) sashimi: my favorite nigri, the unagi was so tender it was falling apart. Best I've ever had. -Kazo sake: the combination of all the textures and flavors made this one of my top choices. Think of eating it like a deviled egg, if you're able to fit the whole thing in your mouth, you can taste all the flavors at once. If not, it's still tasty and you can taste the pieces individually! -Mt Rose roll: the textures and flavors were really good! -Fire Ocean roll: Absolutely delicious, and spicy! -Spicy garlic edamame: I wasn't impressed. No crisp on the garlic. The garlic, sweet chili sauce, and edamame felt like they were all cooked separately and combined on the serving plate. The garlic seemed like it was from a jar, and the sauce from the bottle. -Tempura banana with strawberry mochi: we devoured this, the chocolate sauce made the combination of flavors pleasant. I wish the tempura banana had a bit more going on - more crisp and less batter. -Wasabi: the wasabi actually tastes real and not like horseradish!!! It blends into the soy sauce beautifully and it's creamy. Drinks -Sapporo with the Junmai Ginjo sake: light and crisp, really yummy -Honey Citron tea- delightful Service While our service was generally pleasant, we did end up going at least 20 mins at one point without any word from our server while waiting on food. We didn't mind, and it was nice to not be rushed, but some others may want to feel more taken care of. My only slight complaint is that I didn't keep my chopsticks after dinner for our dessert, but we just ended up sharing the one pair we had. It would have been nice to be reminded to keep my chopsticks or to be offered another pair. Ambiance The space is relatively large and Miyabi expanded years ago to accommodate a larger dining area. The only slightly confusing part - I wish it was more clear which door you enter from. The only indicator is the Open sign on the left hand set of doors. All in all, I really enjoy and appreciate good quality food, and while you are paying the price for it here, it's justified. I'm looking forward to my next visit!

Sadly there were too many flies landing on my food and baby, I don't want to give them another try. The only good item I've found on their menu is the Mt Rose roll and edamame (for the black salt).
