Paleo Rainbow Roll (made w/o rice)
    Ian M.

This was a nice quick and easy option on the way to the airport this afternoon for a pre-flight snack. Still trying to ditch the carbs where I can, so ordered my rolls w/o rice. Tasted great and I appreciated the chefs accommodating my needs. The fish was cold and fresh tasting; the service was good. Inside is pretty chill. I always love watching the sushi chefs in action. If in South Reno, consider this spot; nice meal at affordable prices. They offered AYCE but I paid a la carte as I was in a rush and wasn't all that hungry.

1/30 Came to one of our fav spots for some ayce sushi . We were greeted immediately and sat . Came about 8pm they close at 9. Our waitress Carley was amazing and took care of the 5 of us. Service was fantastic as usual and sushi came out quick . Sushi was delicious as usual too. We were the last to leave at 9 after they closed. Great evening . Enjoy !!!!

It's been a while, so we decided to stop for some Sushi tonight. I wasn't hungry enough for AYCE, so I ordered A-La-Carte. I ordered 2 rolls, the Pisces and the Gemini. I've complained about the presentation before and unfortunately, I have the same complaint about the presentation this time too. The rolls just looked sloppy. I also found them to be a bit unbalanced. Too much rice, too much crab mix and too much of the sweet stuff. I don't think I should've been as stuffed as I was with 2 rolls, but I couldn't finish them. The service also fell flat. We were attended to promptly and our order came out correctly, but I found our server to be impersonal and in a rush. This place seems to be a hit and miss because we've had an excellent experience and then not so great. Tonight was just o.k.

Some cooked rolls- I don't remember their names but all 3 were amazing! I ordered spicy ones.

I called about 30 minutes before they closed to place a to go order. They were super nice and accommodating. The food was ready (even cooked rolls!) in about 10 minutes. They have a great to go special of 3 rolls for only 24! Such a good deal and the sushi was delicious. I usually go to kumo but they're always like almost unbearably busy. I called them first and they said they cannot take a to go order 45 minutes before closing bc they're too busy. I feel I found a great less busy version of kumo. Portions were good (I ate a few pieces before taking the picture!) and sushi was delicious and fresh. Packaged well. They gave us plenty of soy sauce and wasabi. I will be back. I think I found my new relaxed sushi spot.

My nephew's in town visiting--always such a treat! After work, we were craving sushi and needed a nearby spot, and Pieces Sushi hit the mark perfectly. We arrived around 2:00 PM and got seated right away (a perk of going off-hours--I bet dinner gets busy!). Service was fast and friendly, and our sushi arrived in record time, beautifully plated and absolutely delicious. The dining area was spotless, with plenty of seating and just the right lighting to keep things cozy and relaxed. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 only because the roll selection was a bit limited, and I couldn't find any hand rolls on the menu. Would I go back? Absolutely! It's definitely worth another visit--next time, maybe for dinner!

The dining room is always clean and welcoming, the staff is very friendly and professional. The fish is always fresh and tasty, the sushi rice is always perfect. I don't eat a lot of rolls, I really enjoy the raw fish and the cooks do an amazing job preparing each order, they are supper talented. Great place to eat!

Great restaurant with decent sushi. My personal preference is to order pick up (they have pick up specials which is a great deal!) For someone who doesn't need to consume all you can eat, you can order 4 rolls for $30, take it home and have a date night with a movie! The restaurant is always very busy whenever we pick up which is a good sign. My favorite roll is the tornado and my husband's is the Saturday night!

The sushi was good. Was it excellent? Was it the freshest? Was it shipped in this morning? (Reno is only a 3 hour drive from San Francisco, especially in the early morning.) the answer is no. It was all frozen or canned. They have room to improve. The server was hands off. I get it Japanese theme. They did pace the plates (good!). Will I return? Yes. Go grab some sushi and expect...not seaside.

Crown Shrimp Roll (kani stick and avocado inside, fried shrimp on top, teriyaki sauce, and a small dollop of mayo)

We tried this place once around 3 or 4 years ago and at that time were not impressed. Despite this place being literally less than a 5 minute drive from our home we finally returned (on a whim; my son insisted he wanted to try it). This time was totally different. To make sure before posting this review we went once more-- both of these visits (once for dinner and once for AYCE at lunch) were great. The food was fresh, the rolls were light (we are not fans of dense rice in our rolls), and the prices were reasonable. While each roll we tried was unique we agreed that many of the rolls tasted extremely similar. My son loved the pot stickers (4 pieces for $4 à la carte). I will say service could be tightened up a bit (was a bit slow at times, would have been nice to have napkin refills and water refills as needed-- especially at a table with young children). The cleanliness was satisfactory but there were sone rips in the bench seat. Overall, this isn't the very best sushi place is Reno but it's not bad. It's a good enough option if it's close and you don't want to drive across town or deal with longer waits.

A great deal for takeaway! 4 rolls just $30 is unbeatable. Great for a quick dinner for two. We've perfected our order with the eponymous pisces roll, the avocado based amazon roll, the zodiac and the MT. Pisces always uses fresh ingredients and pretty decent fish. I specifically order rolls that don't have too much imitation crab or cream cheese. The crunch in the zodiac is great. Pisces really hits the spot if you're looking for sushi that is quick and reliable.

Ordered to-go. Todoay. We arrive home - no ginger. No wasabi. Didn't ask if we would like any. We called the restaurant. The lady asks "what moms your name," then proceeds to tell you us..yeah. It should have come with it. Sorry. We won't be back.

I've had a lot of AYCE sushi at a variety of places but this was my first time at Pisces. What I loved? A limited but inclusive menu with just the right number of rolls to choose from. Also, like most sushi places there are going to be a few rolls that you will love and I certainly found a few here. Service was fast and efficient however we did briefly get served someone else's rolls. Thankfully we caught it and they were able to redirect them to the right people. We had to wait for a forgotten Cotton Candy but when it arrived, it became a favorite. A little crunch with a lot of flavor. They put a LOT of crab mix on the rolls that come with them but I was amused by a rainbow roll that literally came with a pile of crab mix on the plate. Most of the food was fresh. The seating was nice and comfortable and it has a welcoming atmosphere. I can see why it's my friend's favorite place. A little pricey but they don't use too much rice and they are pretty quick with your food, even if you don't sit at the bar. Yummy Mochi in three flavors!

It has been at least 3 years since we've eaten at Pisces Sushi; the restaurant's decor has remained unchanged or changed very little and was still fairly empty when we arrived for lunch last Saturday, but the staff seemed completely different, all the sushi chefs behind the bar and waitresses looked unfamiliar to me. Nevertheless, we had a seat at a table and proceeded to order drinks, appetizers and sushi. The service was efficient and modestly friendly. Most of our orders arrived at our table quickly, even the baked long rolls. All the food was well-crafted and we devoured every single morsel with the utmost relish. Overall, I would say our dining experience was very positive and I look forward to dining here again.

Well slap my a** and call me Betty! Haha I have been eating all-you-can-eat (AYCE) sushi in Reno…read morefor over 10 years now and this is the first place I've been able to actually taste how good the fish actually is. To be clear, this is not an AYCE sushi restaurant, and there's other offerings besides sushi including ramen, salad, steaks, and various teriyaki plates. Apparently the food is hand selected by the owner, and helped prepared by the Japanese wife in the kitchen. From what I understand, the line cooks follow traditional Japanese ways including only being able to make a sushi roll after being a line cook for 5 years. As for the food itself, these are the things I've tried: -Maguro (tuna) sashimi: absolutely delightful -Sake (salmon) nigri: really good -Unagi (Eel) sashimi: my favorite nigri, the unagi was so tender it was falling apart. Best I've ever had. -Kazo sake: the combination of all the textures and flavors made this one of my top choices. Think of eating it like a deviled egg, if you're able to fit the whole thing in your mouth, you can taste all the flavors at once. If not, it's still tasty and you can taste the pieces individually! -Mt Rose roll: the textures and flavors were really good! -Fire Ocean roll: Absolutely delicious, and spicy! -Spicy garlic edamame: I wasn't impressed. No crisp on the garlic. The garlic, sweet chili sauce, and edamame felt like they were all cooked separately and combined on the serving plate. The garlic seemed like it was from a jar, and the sauce from the bottle. -Tempura banana with strawberry mochi: we devoured this, the chocolate sauce made the combination of flavors pleasant. I wish the tempura banana had a bit more going on - more crisp and less batter. -Wasabi: the wasabi actually tastes real and not like horseradish!!! It blends into the soy sauce beautifully and it's creamy. Drinks -Sapporo with the Junmai Ginjo sake: light and crisp, really yummy -Honey Citron tea- delightful Service While our service was generally pleasant, we did end up going at least 20 mins at one point without any word from our server while waiting on food. We didn't mind, and it was nice to not be rushed, but some others may want to feel more taken care of. My only slight complaint is that I didn't keep my chopsticks after dinner for our dessert, but we just ended up sharing the one pair we had. It would have been nice to be reminded to keep my chopsticks or to be offered another pair. Ambiance The space is relatively large and Miyabi expanded years ago to accommodate a larger dining area. The only slightly confusing part - I wish it was more clear which door you enter from. The only indicator is the Open sign on the left hand set of doors. All in all, I really enjoy and appreciate good quality food, and while you are paying the price for it here, it's justified. I'm looking forward to my next visit!

Sadly there were too many flies landing on my food and baby, I don't want to give them another try. The only good item I've found on their menu is the Mt Rose roll and edamame (for the black salt). The lobster roll was also a rip off; it's covered in sauce so you can't even taste the lobster.

Parking is fairly easy, with plenty of street spaces nearby, and an easy walk if you're already hanging around the neighborhood. The service was friendly and fairly prompt, and even for a weekday night the place was bustling, leading to a bit of a backup. Cool vibes all around, and it's neat to sit at the bar and watch the chefs do their thing. Though it does mean this is a little bit on the noisy side. Look at the menu, and there are tons of tempting options. As the name suggests, their specialty here is small plate off the grill or out fo the fryer. But they do serve really good-looking ramen, too, which I will make not to try next time I swing by. I at first went with a quick bite of grilled chicken thighs, which were just amazing! They were juicy, eprfectly seared, with some grilled green onions and an amazing sweet soy sauce. I also went with the yakionigiri, which are balls of rice that are grilled, brushed with sauce, and topped with a sort of mango slaw. A bit uncommon, but wow, these were also just so delicious! Also had a glass of sake, though they have a full bar should you want some other sort of beverage. Prices here are, I feel, a little on the higher end for small plates. However, I think it is definitely worth coming and trying this place out at least once or twice, just to expereince some of the good food. I'm sorry it took me so long to finally step through the doors, but I am certain I will be back again to try more of what's on the menu.

The menu didn't feel very varied--it was mostly the same types of rolls (crab mostly) with different sauces. That may just be personal preference, since I tend to like shrimp rolls (either cooked or uncooked). When we arrived, we were seated in the far right corner. There were other tables nearby, but because we were a large group, it took a while for anyone to take our drink orders. We even had two separate servers come by to ask for drinks. Once we ordered sushi, that's where things really went downhill. We were split across the tables (four people per table), and although we placed our orders at the same time, half of our group didn't receive their sushi until about 30 minutes after the other part of us. It felt like the order process wasn't managed well. Customer service was also inconsistent. We had to keep asking for items we never received, like refills, and we didn't get straws. Even though the restaurant was busy, I've been to other sushi places on busy nights and never experienced service this slow. The only thing I truly liked was the appetizers. The beef teriyaki was the best thing I had--really tasty. I'd recommend that, but only if you have a lot of time to spare, because the wait for food and follow-ups was a struggle. When we tried to order dessert, it took so long for someone to come back that a few people ended up giving up and not getting dessert at all. Overall, customer service took far too long, and the sushi was just OK--not especially flavorful or memorable for me. The rolls tasted pretty similar, and I don't think I'll be returning.
