This was my experience today, the motorbike trailer wore tyres that were ten years old. I couldn't risk a blow out at freeway speed and dumping two bikes to save $180. I called, they check inventory had a couple that would fit, quoted me, and the "no rush" job was done in a couple hours. They replaced my front tires, but none of the employees that I saw were wearing masks, not even the clerks who rung me up. There were glass barriers up at the registers at least but I still didn't feel very safe. I'm not sure what the situation is like in morro bay (I was visiting from San Diego) and maybe they aren't in as bad of a covid situation as Southern California but I still think everyone who works in any sort of customer service job in California should be wearing masks right now. I've been a customer at Hinson's Tire Pro's for a number of years. They have reasonable prices, and do decent work. However their customer service is the worst I've ever experienced at an automotive shop. I've called a number of times to ask about information on my cars last oil change, for instance what was the mileage during my last change? Over the phone I was told "We don't keep records of invoices". So I tried in person twice, the first time the man looked up my license plate number and said id only been there one time before (even though I had been there the week prior) then he began to scold me about the importance of being consistent with oil changes. Today I went again and delt with another man he looked me up by my name, this time he was able to bring up 2 visits I had in 2021 and said I haven't been there since, even though I had my bank statements in hand saying otherwise. He said I probably had a different license plate on my car, because it's normal to change your plates every year? It's the gaslighting for me read more

I've bought tires here three times over the last few years. Every time the service is brusque, to the point of rudeness. Its like they are doing you a favor by buying their tires. The prices are fairly high. The last straw was when my son took my truck in for a tire repair (nail in tire). Now, these were almost $800 for the set of four. The guy at the desk told my son it was $20. Ok, many places don't do free repair of their tires, but I have been a customer for years. Then he said he wouldn't do the repair because it was too close to closing. What? Twenty minutes and you can't help? From now on, I will go to City Tires in Morro Bay. My friends say the prices are better and the service is polite and timely. On the plus side, I will say that every time I've bought tires here, my tires have been properly installed without any problems. read more

We were driving from Los Angeles to Morro Bay for a 4-day stay with our two dogs when the "Low Tire Pressure" light came on in our Ford F-150 truck. This had never happened before and we were concerned. We are in our 70s and cannot change a tire by ourselves. We made it to Morro Bay and took the truck to Hinson's. Hinson's stands by their work which is especially refreshing given all the shady auto repair places around. I took my car there in April for two new tires, while putting the new tires on, the mechanic noticed my left front outer CV boot was torn. They gave me a reasonable estimate to replace the boot and I gave them my approval to do so. This past week I took my car to a place in SLO for an oil & filter change, as part of the OFC service, the mechanic inspected the car and informed me my front outer CV boot was torn the same boot that was replaced in April. Needlessly to say I wasn't happy since the new boot had only been on the car for 5 months and I had only driven the car 1,500 miles. I called Hinson's fully expecting a hassle as I was going to insist they fix the boot at no cost. I got the opposite, total hassle free honest service. After I explained the situation, they said to bring the car in and they would take care of it for free under warranty which they did and in less time than they quoted. Hey mistakes happen, maybe the new boot was defected initially, maybe the mechanic made an error, I don't really care - but what really matters is that when a business makes a mistake or (if stuff just happens), they stand by their work. While visiting from out of town, I heard grinding noise coming from the wheel area and suspected a brake issue. I took my truck to Hinsons to have them check it out. They test drove the vehicle and did a brake inspection. The brake inspection revealed no issues. They rotated the tires and changed out the balancing weights and sent me on my way. This company was recommended to me by Todd's garage. I asked for a four wheel alignment on an AWD Ford Escape Hybrid. They found that Todd's had missed the inner tie rods and found one that was shot! I was given these by the previous owner of the vehicle who said they need work but Todd's instead went after the outer Tie Rod's which were a different size and required a special order of parts? I wonder if they were really bad? In any case they found only one was bad. They also determined that the rear was not out of alignment. They also checked a wheel stud that COSTCO said needed repair and found that it was fine. I read the other reviews. After my first visit, these guys seem very honest, and very helpful and fixed a problem I thought had already been addressed! While aligning my front wheels ... I would trust them with tires, brakes whatever service they provide and the prices seemed reasonable at least to me. read more

Very disappointing. Had a warranty issue taken care of at Hinsons-a tire I purchased through Tire Rack.com. The tire Hinsons sold me was at an inflated price for an inexpensive Hankook. When they were finished with the new tire they left a yellow sticky goo on the tire and I had to clean it off. In addition they balanced my wheels-supposedly and they were shaking badly in the front. I "chose" not to take the car back to Hinsons. Rather went to another tire shop in San Luis Obispo who treated me right and took care of the front wheel balance properly. Hinsons did a poor job on balance and I am unhappy with the sloppy job on the new tire. I would love to keep it local here in Morro Bay, but I will not be returning to Hinsons. read more
