I liked dealing with Hinsons Tire when the current owner's father ran the shop. However when the son took over things changed. The last time I did business with the shop they broke three tire pressure sensing valve stems and did nothing to replace them. This cost me $300 to replace the stems. So if you want a gorilla working on your car maybe there OK. read more

Hinsons is great! We had a total blowout on our way from Bass Lake to Morrow Bay. I called and spoke to Minas. We dropped the tire off when we got to Morrow Bay, they ordered a new one. We spent 2 nights in Morrow Bay and on the way home we stopped back at Hinsons, they had mounted the tire, they put the tire on and did a wheel alignment and we were on our way. Great folks here! Brought my Yaris in to Hinson's when I noticed a clunky noise on left and right turns. They knew immediately where to look and straightened a bent metal piece of the brake mechanism. I pulled out my wallet, and received a 'no charge' along with a big smile. AVIOD. Brought my car in for new brakes, and would normally go to the Tire Store, but he was backlogged. I show up to pick up the car after service, with a coupon I printed out from online. "Oh, you should've mentioned the coupon before." Why, so you could jack the price up before the discount? And it still ended up being $40 more than what I would have paid at The Tire Store. I called to check if they had time for and oil change and to find out the cost of one. I was quoted on the phone $30-$35. Then I arrive and re-verified the cost and I was then told $35-$40. Its not the $5 difference it was surprising it was the tone of voice and attitude as if I was trying to pull one over. Give me a break I also own a business in town and I would never talk to my client in that tone of voice. I will gladly take my car elsewhere. read more

We were on vacation and driving to Disneyland the next day when my husband noticed that the tire pressure was really low on one tire. We found Hinsons on Yelp since we were staying nearby in Cayucos. They checked the tire pressure, took the tire off and checked it for nails, etc. Then they put air in the tires. All for free! They were so nice about everything. I love this place. read more

Brought my Honda CR-V Touring SUV in to have the tires rotated, and a hand truck that needed to have tires mounted. They said it would be an hour for the tire rotation, and that it may take longer for the hand truck. I said that I can pick up the hand truck sometime the next day and took a walk down to the embarcadero. I came back about an hour and a half later, and to my delight, they had everything done, including the hand truck. Rotates tires for free!! We took our Mini Cooper here after getting some awful advice from the dealership in camerillo. We were told we can't rotate our tires at the dealership. When we went here they told us that you have to rotate them and gave us a good explanation why. Anyways they were done in 10 minutes and they were busy!!! read more

Two terrible experiences, so it's time to write a review! First one took our car in for a simple tire rotation and oil change, they stripped the lug nuts, had to call the dealership, rethread and put new lug nuts (on a 2 year old vehicle) today we went to take our other vehicle in for an oil change and lucky for us they didn't have time. Went to shop in SLO and the showed us that Hinsons had put non-synthetic oil in (even though we were charged for synthetic) in the last oil change. Every oil change before that has been done by the HONDA dealership. So you go Hinson! Rip people off and risk their vehicles and your customers safety!! Shame on you!!! And don't worry I have all of my receipts and a written statement to back up my claims! read more

Great experience here. I had a problem with a tire that was not holding air. My tires were newly installed in a different city. The rims are chrome and relatively wide. I discovered the problem on Friday night, so I had to wait until Saturday to do something about it. I checked online and found Hinson was open Saturday morning, the reviews were good, and I figured I could get there on that low tire. I called and they said "come in, fist come first served". I am very picky about my cars, and being relatively new to the area, I am always on my guard whenever I go to a new place for any kind of service. The were busy, but it seemed they had a very efficient process as the cars were in and out in no time. The guy who worked on my car, was very good. He took care of my car and was able to quickly identify the problem. The best part is he took the time to clearly explain it to me, while he fixed it. All in all, I am very happy with the service. Purchased tires for the front my Benz this time. Replaced the back ones about 10 months ago. Both times the experience and service outstanding. Both times I had to order. They took only one day, they called and got us in-and-out quickly. The car was nice and clean. Unlike my experience with a replacement of one tire at The Tire Store. I got the car back with greasy hand prints on the Alloys and on the steering wheel. The day after the rear tires were replaced I heard dragging noise from one of the rear wheels. They found one of the springs on the brakes had popped off. Probably my fault as I had tried to install the spare incorrectly. The fixed it and did not charge me! Thanks, Guys! read more

I arrived around 8:30 am and luckily there weren't too many people ahead of me. They gave me an approx wait time of 30 minutes, but I doubt if it was even that long. Maybe only about 15 minutes. I was really surprised at how quickly they got it done. The only concern I had was the brand of tire they put on is one I'd never heard of. And I paid about as much for those as I have for Pirelli or some other known brand. So I hope they're good tires. They were also very nice there. They honored the price quote they gave over the phone, which is always a good sign. read more

I have been going to Hinson tires for the past 8 years for all my oil changes and new tires for multiple vehicles. I've always enjoyed good service with good prices, but recently that has not been the case. 3 weeks ago I had my oil changed and after returning from a road trip I noticed oil spots in my driveway. After determining it was coming from my vehicle that has never leaked oil and only been serviced at Hinson, I took it in to be looked at. 1/2 hour later the tech tells me to look under the vehicle at the oil pan and tried to convince me that someone took a grinder to it. He then went on to say the leak was from a worn out washer on the drain plug... it's one thing to forget to proper tighten the oil plug, but trying to convince me that factory grinding from the casting process somehow was a factor? I would consider this a one off event if it wasn't for the fact that on my last oil change they rotated my tires even though they already rotated them 2 weeks earlier! I have been going to Hinson's for 6 yrs. for oil changes, tires, brakes, shocks and weird things that go wrong with an old car. The staff is fantastic, and always do a very careful, thorough job. Prices are fair, and they update you if more needs to be done. I wouldn't go anywhere else - and obviously other locals agree, as the place is always busy. One thing, it's first come-first serve so if you have something routine to be done like an oil change, plan to go in early. I've never had to wait long, but if you do, there's several places to eat right across the street. read more

I bought my last 2 tires at Hinson's In September. Today I got a screw in one of them and they charged me $20 to fix it. I thought it would have been free since I bought my tires there. The Yelper on vacation [below] who got his fixed free was lucky. I will go to Big Brand Tire next time I need tires because they fix flats for free. read more
